My full game recap will be up later this evening, but by now you surely know that Alex Rodriguez finally hit his 600th home run in the bottom of the first inning, a two run shot driving home Derek Jeter and giving the Yankees an early 2-0 lead. SI.com has a full slate of Rodriguez pieces in connection with the milestone, including articles by Joe Posnanski, Joe Sheehan, Ben Reiter, and Joe Lemire, two photo galleries, a trio of video essays, a vintage piece from 1996, a timeline, and this by-the-numbers breakdown by yours truly. That should keep you busy during prime time. Back with the recap during late night . . .
Pundits to right of him,
Media to left of him,
Bloggers in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly he swung and well,
Over the walls that Ruth built
Into the Park of Monuments
Flew the six hundred.
Rodriguez hit #600? I hadn't heard :)
Thanks RI, that was really sweet.
Matt Capps sucks.
[4] There is no Mo but Mo.
[1] Auggggh, you beat me to it RI, Lord Yank >;)
The Injuns spank the Soz 9-1.
Twins score 1 in the top of the 13th.
TB with 1 out in the bottom.
Twinkies hold on!!!!!
TB loses!!!
Tied for 1st (again)!
Damn afternoon games, I missed all the excitement...instead, was treated to the riveting Angels-Orioles game on tv. Maybe 2000 people in stands by the end, Torii Hunter caught stealing 3B in the 9th inning while down 3 runs (Mike Scioscia baseball!)
Congrats A-Rod!!!
