Here are some of the notable Yankee numbers from the season that just ended:

TEAM

  • 859: runs scored, 56 fewer than 2009.
  • .267: batting average, 16 points lower than 2009, and lowest since .268 in 2004
  • 662: walks, 1 fewer than 2009.
  • 201: homers, the 12th time in franchise history with 200 or more roundtrippers, and 43 fewer than 2009.
  • 5: players with 100 or more strikeouts (Brett Gardner / Curtis Granderson / Derek Jeter / Nick Swisher / Mark Teixeira), tied for most in team history (2002).  Jorge Posada ended with 99 strikeouts and Alex Rodriguez had 98.
  • .989: fielding percentage, a franchise record (.986, 3 times).
  • 32: triples, 11 more than 2009.
  • 4.06: ERA, lowest since 2003, but seventh in AL.
  • 42: unearned runs allowed, fewest since 1998 (37).
  • 7.09: K/9, highest since franchise-record 7.26 in 2002.

INDIVIDUAL

  • 739: PAs (Jeter), tied for 10th most in franchise history (Jeter has four of top ten).
  • 663: ABs (Jeter), eighth-highest in franchise history (Alfonso Soriano had 696 in 2002).
  • 11: sacrifice flies (Rodriguez). most since Paul O’Neill (11) in 2000.
  • 139: strikeouts (Nick Swisher), tied for ninth-highest in franchise history (Soriano 157 in 2002).
  • 511: outs made (Jeter), tied for fifth-most in franchise history (Horace Clarke 533 in 1970).
  • 21: wins (CC Sabathia), most since Andy Pettitte’s 21 (2003).
  • 15: losses (A.J. Burnett), most since Melido Perez (16 in 1992).
  • 237.2: innings pitched (Sabathia), most since 240.1 by Pettitte (1997).
  • 109: earned runs allowed (Burnett), most since Randy Johnson (114 in 2006).
  • 32: homeruns allowed (Javier Vazquez), most since Johnson’s 32 in 2005.
  • 19: HBP (Burnett), third-most in franchise history (Jack Warhop had 26 in 1909).
  • 200 / 25: hits and homers (Cano), at least 200 hits and 25 home runs for the second consecutive season. Cano becomes the only second baseman not named Rogers Hornsby to have more than one such season in his career.

and while we're at it, i guess we should prolly mention the stolen bases aj allowed. didn't he allow the most in team history? i think it was 35. if i'm not 'misremembering', rocket allowed 34. or something like that...
