Series opener with the lackluster BoSox postponed due to rain (surprise-surprise); the game will be made up as part of a day-night double header on August 3. In the meantime, why not settle in with some John Coltrane classics played by Teodross Avery to mellow the mood… we’ll try this again tomorrow.
Hate damn rainouts
Kitty Kaat.
Crap, it’s the good Sale.
Homer Happ-y
Get that home run back
That works
Thank you Hicks
Nunezzzzzz. Gary catches him napping
Hey, rbj manning the Banter alone?
On a Sox-Yanks night???
Wooo hoo!
[9] welcome to the party.
It's a small party, but we're boisterous.
Good, Happ out after five.
What up, gang. Smells like a Friday night! Go Yankees!
Kendry is not fast.
Yum.
Overslid just a bit
One gone
That first out in the ninth with a lead, that always relaxes me.
Two! Nice pitch.
And three. Nice win. Bury Boston
gg
And Tampa lost.
Nice, tidy win. Cheers, all.
Stupid golf
Ah, baseball
Crud
Long single for Gleyber. Need to hustle.
Only a single?
Quit dogging it, dammit.
That's what a kangaroo court is for.
Should be a run in.
Thanks, Gleyber.
Gleyber owes Gio.
Go go Gio!
GGBG!
C'mon DJ, sweep the leg!
Hey hey DJ!
DJ. Love the “put the ball in play” approach.
I merely approve of the "hit 'em where they ain't" approach ...
Well, those idiots at FOX forgot to mention the 77-78 Yankees as a back-to-back WS Champion.
Bounce a pitch? With men on and Gary behind the plate? No.
Shit
Well phew
Kraken!
KRAKEN!
So I am sitting here in Atlanta, literally next to our pal thelarmis, and I can verify - he totally called that Sanchez home run. Very cool to witness in person!
That's why he's NOSTRAlarmis!
Walden, you ass.
Uh oh, trainer out for Clint.
Ok, seems to be fine
Hey team.
I'm at the Stadium@
Vino
Uh oh, Holder sighting.
Walked Teddy. Sigh, no runs.
Double play. I like it.
Stop doing the wave. This is Yankee Stadium.
Double play.
[48] I’m jealous. No trips up north in my foreseeable future.
Yer killing me blue
Chappie is off tonight.
Does Chapman EVER have a 1-2-3 inning?
This is not the 9th I was looking for.
Double shit.
I accept that double play
Whoo-hoo! Cheers, y'all.
Phhhew!
Boston getting buried, Tampa lost.
Night all.
excellent
Tampa lost, house money game tonight, day off tomorrow.
And looks like it’ll go in the L column
Luuuuuke!
That boy is country strong ...
Gio gets a run in.
Ugh.
Got Price’s pitch count up.
Ah, Boston can be stupid on the basepaths too.
6 innings, three runs for CC. Apparently a quality start.
I miss the YES crew.
Me too. For all the grief we give Kay, I prefer him to the National guys.
This ESPN crew is utterly banal and insipid. Not a jot of insight all night.
Jeebus, Clint
Sigh. Syndrome really has been shiite in the field this year.
Inexplicable.
Good lord, Clint. It’s ok for that to be a single.
It's just immeasurable what a hit-and-run can do ...
Just. Shut. Up.
Oh come on blue. Out of the zone.
Blech. As I said, House money game. Not gonna worry about this.
Yeesh. ANOTHER misplay from Syndrome.
Jebus, it's pouring.
BUNT THE BASEBALL????
JFC ...
Fargh that game. And that ump. And the ESPN crew.
I'm not piling on here, but I have a question about Clint Frazier and his outfield struggles. I'd appreciate any thoughts or insight, whether you're coming from my perspective, which is just watching from the coach, or you're speaking from the experience of playing in the outfield at a level higher than Little League.
So here's the question. Shouldn't he be better than he is? It seems like he's a good athlete with the requisite tools -- speed, effort, desire -- but the mistakes he's been making make it look he's never played outfield before, like when a team crosses its fingers and tries to take a third baseman and play in right field. I didn't watch much of the telecast last night, but after one of his miscues, I think the ball he played into a triple when it sliced away from him and bounded to the wall, Jess Mendoza said, "That comes from not playing the position." Her point after that made sense -- he didn't understand that a slicing ball would continue to kick in that direction after hitting the turf -- but hasn't he always been an outfielder? And even if he's had more experience in left field, shouldn't that translate easily to right? I know there are differences in ball flight and spin, but I don't think that alone can account for what's going on.
Part of it, I suppose, has been luck. Some of these balls have been tricky, and they just keep finding him. I get nervous every time a ball is hit in his direction, and you can hear the uneasiness in the Stadium crowd also. It has to be affecting him also.
Anyway, I'd be interested in any insight anyone has to offer.
[85] One day I will be able to type the word couch when I mean couch. My fingers typically fail 75% of the time.
I think part of it is playing out of position. And at that level, players can be specialized. It's not beer league softball.
Another part is just not having played much the last couple of years. 54 games total the last two years.
Plus I think he's trying too hard in an effort to not get sent down.
Draft tonight! Yeah, I've got no insight. I'd go with drafting the best available player. You can always make a trade to fill a big club need. The better your prospects are, the easier to make a trade.
[85] Hank, that is really interesting. I was wondering the same, we know there are plenty of bad defenders who make it to the bigs because of their bat. But Frazier looked like one of us out there at times, completely clueless..perhaps you and rbj [97] are right, it's a bit in his head now?
Then again some guys just stink out there. Remember when the Sox put Hanley Ramirez in LF to start the season?
[85] It's really hard to get into a professional player's head, no matter how gabby sports reporters and TV personalities tend to be. Perhaps the closest we can get to knowing what's going on besides Clint being frank and open is to hear the experiences of former players who dealt with somewhat similar circumstance. But even then, no player or person is the same as another.
I will say from the perspective of someone who played up to his college years (though not with any varsity team) that there is a difference between left and right field beyond their geography; being a right-handed fielder, I felt more comfortable in left and center than in right as I generally favored my right side and thus responded naturally to plays by turning or extending to the right. Maybe the act of turning left was so unnatural to my instincts that it caused a moment of confusion, and in that critical moment I would lose a step on the ball and have to overcompensate. Too much thinking in a split second if you're not properly trained for it.
I remember chasing a routine fly ball over my head in right because I took a step in the wrong direction and didn't react quick enough. Another time I froze at the crack of the bat and leapt at the last moment on a line drive nearly over my head. I never had those issues in left or center; probably because my instincts carried me in the right direction for the play and managed to always keep it in front of me. I definitely admire good right fielders for how tough the position actually is.
But no, I definitely can't get into Frazier's head; he's gone through a whole helluva lot more as a player than I ever had.
I like Frazier a lot and his swagger is one of the things that probably helps him to play at this level.
He has incredible bat speed and has all the appearances of a really good athlete.
His concussion last year and the way it happened, likely weighs on his mind. I remember a few of the misplays early in the season had to do with plays that were close to the wall. Also diving plays are pretty jarring too, and he has had a lot of these too. Sometimes from him misplaying the ball and needing to close on it quicker.
Last year, it was likely eating him up that he had an opportunity to join the team and couldn't shake the fog. I didn't see enough of him in the field to see that he was a very good fielder to begin with.
I hope he figures this out. It would be a real shame if it became like a Knoblauch thing, and they needed to find a new position for him. Also DH for the Yanks is needed more for some of the older vets and also the less mobile guys like Morales.
When Canseco was playing and a ball bounced off his head into the stands, I didn't think we would ever see someone that lost in the field again. At least with Canseco and Knoblauch, they were veterans and had proven their meddle, this must shake his confidence much more.
That being said, ducking the media will only make this worse for him and his teammates. You need to step up, and make the boring quote if necessary. Don't duck out and leave your teammates to answer for your mistakes. NY has the most voracious media, and that isn't fair to place that burden on people you play with, who are sometimes just as anxious to not have to face the reporters.
Looks like the Yanks are getting the Koy-kill. Prorated deal for 1 year? I wonder if the Yanks are still able to stay under the cap?
I'd say this. Don't overthink the Frazier defense issue. I've read the scouting reports before he came up and I watched him play OF the first 2 years he played. Reports said he was a tweener (and got some bad reads) but not that he was anything like he's shown this year.
Concussions are a bitch and once you start thinking what you're doing on a play, you're fucked.
Not saying he's going to get over it, but he wasn't this kind of fielder before ...
Once again ... thankful for Urshela at 3rd.
Who is in the booth tonight?
Good question ...
TANAKA-SAN!
Ok, Boomer is one.
Boomer?
David Wells?
Cone is another, I believe.
Somehow, I would not have placed that voice with David "Boomer" Wells.
Mo-dammit.
Please be okay, Kraken.
And Ryan Ruco?
[102] Yes. Boomer, Cone and Ruco. Pretty good team.
Let's get some hits.
Yay, Hicks
Redemption for Clint.
FRAZIER. A virtual and actual lighting rod.
Now he needs to have a chat with A-Rod's press agent.
[108] What I miss? Been offline a couple of days!
Sigh, #obligatoryhomer. Was kinda hoping to avoid that tonight.
[109] First he didn't speak to the NY media after his awful night in right. Then he has a press conference(?) in Toronto saying he didn't do anything wrong [media wise] and he has been getting treated poorly by the press.
So instead of owning up and moving on he inflamed the situation, at least according to Boomer.
[111] Ah thanks, I missed that. Easy to make misteps in the NYY media world I guess.
Grrrr.
Hmm, maybe safe.
Ok, no challenge.
That sucked.
Extra day of rest for the cream of the pen.
Not dead yet
Hicksy with the tater! Can they get one more?
No joy in Mudville.
No no-no for Big Maple in his homeland tonight. No shutout either...
Evening, all.
Well this isn’t going well.
Obviously, Big Maple is a Canadian sleeper agent ...
Damn, too close.
It was close, but Gritner was safe and it should’ve been overturned. Also, it appears as though we’re being URPed the first time through the order
Well this sucks thus far. Until that! Gary!
Kraken! No no-no, no shutout.
Tied up. I approve of RISP base hits.
And untied.
Ugh. Morales is just useless.
Hard to be mad about 4 runs, but they should have scored more there.
Well, I think it’s safe to say that we are no longer being URPed.
Agree, cult. And, yeah, Kendrys is cooked.
Le sigh
This is a great game. Good solid baseball.
Lame.
BTW, my birthday is August, but I want 2 early presents. Release Morales and release Tulo. Just garbage jamming up the system.
WTF. Nevermind comment [135].
Gio should've held on to that.
Not exactly Pax Amicus.
That was an unfortunate turf bounce. Bad leadoff wall though. Tie game.
Kimbrel to the Kubs
Tulo was sent “home” today. Weird Ellsbury kinda crap...
[141] Yeah. I never want to hear either of those names again.
[141] Really? The Cubs. Fuck me, Hal, open your goddamn wallet! That is some cheap ass bullshit.
Hell yeah!
oontz, Oontz, OONTZ!!!
DJ!!!
Eh, I'd rather sign Kuechel for the rest of the season.
I shudder to think where this team would be without DJLM and Gio.
[146] Same. But will he shave his beard??
Gary and DJ in da house!
Time for me to head to Oakland, Let's Go Yanks!
Wait a minute. This really is a GREAT GAME.
[146] Good point. Totally agree, but will the Yankees go high enough. Let's hope.
[148] Oakland. Eat some tacos for me!
German does have an innings limit, so I’d go for Keuchel too.
Oh , so Toronto gets that call.
Grrrrr..... Fucking Bollocks!
[148] He's been asked, of course and said he was fine with taking it off.
Uh, how about the 3rd out here?
Rucco never heard of Lawrence Welk?! How can this guy be working in media?
[155] Take it off. Take it ALL off!
Phew
[158] I actually just DID! Beardless for first time in years!
[157] Is he really missing out on anything?
[155] Urshela to Voit, just like Cash planned it last year.
I didn’t want Kimbrel. He’s getting a 3-yr/$45 mil deal. Yes, Dallas will go beardless. Bad call at first; shoulda been two. Tommy Tightpants got out of it!
Safe travels, Jazz!
[161] Haha, you and Boat got the wrong idea. Off to Oakland (watching Game 3 of the NBA Finals on tv..it's in O-town!)
[161] Besides, I absolutely hate the way Kimbrel sets himself before the pitch. Looks like a complete douche. Pass.
Yup, still can't stand Kendry Morales.
Luke Voit ... hell of a DH!
Joy of joys, the JHE ...
Yup, the JHE ... and I ain't talking about Jimi's band here.
Nice work bullpen work.
Fuck. Really hate seeing Holder this deep in the game. Need Dellin back, though he may not be in midsession form for awhile...
Unphew
Kimbrel’s setup might be the most farcical, idiotic, and annoying thing in all of baseball history. Fucking moron.
Btw, Views From 314 ft. is really good. It’s not RAB, but it’s the closest thing and I’ll take it! Combined with Axisa’s Patreon, and we’re in pretty good Yankees shape ⚾️
Still winning!
[171] Private Pyle (aka Fucking Papeldouche) and his "I live in world-of-shit" stare will never be topped, at least for me.
[172] Oh, thanks for the heads up. Pinstripe Alley is ... cromulent, but no more. It's like the non-alcoholic beer version of RAB.
[174] Sox objectively have had some of the most annoying players evah..Papeldouche (you should TM that!), Varitek with his 'C', Curt WhitePower Schilling, Big Papi PED...
Insurance, please.
[157] Um, only one of the 20th Century's entertainment icons, like him or not. TV show ran for decades. Just sayin'. Learn your history, Ryan.
No tacos then? Bummer. I was drooling vicariously. No worries, I'm off to LA and San Fran in July.
[176] Don't forget John "Slack-jawed, mouth-breathing, fried chicken eating yokel" Lackey.
Backpfeiffengesicht extreme ...
[176] Don't forget Dustin Dickhead Smurf Pred-annoy-ia.
Paplebitch is right up there! 1a & 1b, haha. Kinbrel is more demonstrative, so annoys me even more.
Pinstripe Alley is done? I’ve tried, but it’s not good enough to take my time. Small tweets from them are fine. I wanted to try Bronx Pinstripes, but...no. Views from 314 is really good!
Where in LA, Boatzilla?
[180] I like Pinstripe Alley, but yes the stories are not deep enough. Try "It is HIGH. It is FAR. It is...caught" great snarky opinionated hilarity.
[181] Not done, just adequate. I mean it covers the bases, but nobody there is as good a writer or analyst as Mike and the people he got for RAB.
Agree on Kimbrel. Fuck his stupid antics. Drives me nuts. I hope he bombs in Chicago.
[180] And his weird, weak-chined weasel face.
I’m good with 314, Mike’s Patreon, the mlb at-bat app, and some twitter.
[182] Staying at my sister's in Lake Forest. Probably visit my cousins in Orange. Taking my daughter to visit art schools: Cal Arts and The Art Center.
so, last weekend, Shaun P. was in atlanta, and we watched the game together at my local tavern!
[187] Really enjoying the Athletic MLB coverage too.
This game has bad loss all ovwe it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
STOP WALKING PEOPLE.
[180] and apparently My Little Pony’s career is over. Knee never recovered from Manny Machado’s slide.
[176] yup. they constantly get a collection of scumsucking shitbacks that looks disgusting and gross.
it's like they have the opposite policy we do: yankees - shave and be clean cut; shit sox - look as disheveled as possible and do the most incredibly annoying things on the field.
should've been: shitbags. come on, autocorrect!
Yup.
also,: [192]
wow. so much for the groundball pitcher.
i'm going to practice...
fucking bollocks.
Fuck this shit.
[188] Sheeeeeeeeeeit. I live in Laguna Beach. Let me know if you're up to grab a drink and watch a game somewhere (ala #189).
Sigh ... #191 called it.
[193] Another reason I was fine with not signing his this offseason.
[200] Laguna is close. I will let you know. My sis will probably drag us to and Angels game, if she has her way, which she usually does. But I won't complain about free tix to see Trout and Ohtani.
[201] Same here.
From 314:
Didi Watch: Sir Didi Gregorius went 0-for-5 and is now 1-for-21 with the Railriders … He put the ball in play all five times … Plan is for him to play shortstop tomorrow and then return to Yankees on Friday.
A little rust is to be expected, hopefully he shakes it off quickly.
[202] I checked, but the Yankees aren't in LA for the Dodgers' series until late August.
oh, good.
looks like that hurt hicks' back...
Ugh ... what a complete meltdown from the bully tonight.
Time for a Troy McClure special:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAI7q40dTsQ
Gah, double digits. I’m going to walk the dog then hit the hay.
Huh, so View from 314 is new? Related to RAB's shutdown?
[209] yes, it's 4 of Mike's newer RAB writers and their modeling their site after RAB for the most part. it's pretty excellent!
i'm looking forward to the forthcoming mailbag feature. hopefully, there'll be a chat at some point! they have comments there, though i don't know how to get to them and wouldn't take part anyway...
[210] Sounds good. I will check it out.
[201] This is from "It is HIGH..."
The Yankees cannot afford to slap Didi into the three-spot and watch him go 0-for-30, while he convalesces. Bat him eighth, even ninth. The same goes for china doll Stanton, if and when he ever returns - and maybe even Aaron Judge (though he is a special case.) We don't need these human fried mozzarella sticks clogging our arteries, or our basepaths. And we sure don't need them forcing a trade of Clint Frazier. (As long as he doesn't shack up with Ariana Grande; if that happens, he's done.)
[205] Bummer. I always seem to miss then, when I got to the West Coast.
https://viewsfrom314ft.com/
i highly recommend 314 ft and mike axisa's patreon. it's $3/month via paypal. you get two "thoughts" posts per week (tuesday/friday) and the friday one includes one mailbag question. the posts are pretty long and classic axisa. it's like 37.5 cents per posts! comes to your email and you can also access it on your regular web browser. it's a no-brainer!
oh, gary...
And I STILL can't stand Kendry Morales.
G'nite.
[218]Gotta love Cashman’s madness to have a washed up hitter, who can only DH, as one of your three bench players. I think randomly picking any person’s name in the world, out of a hat, would have more utility on this roster, than Morales.
i don't have anything personal against morales. he shouldn't be on the team. and wouldn't if we were healthy. he was worth adding and had a good couple of first games. at this point, he's washed up and it's silly to keep running him out there. exit velocity and switch-hitting ability is nice, but he's done and needs to be let go.
If this team can't stomp Edwin Jackson tonight, I'm going to be very cross ...
[220] I don't dislike Morales personally, I just start seething anytime I think about him being on this roster, because he's completely useless, like [219] says.
Man, Boomer and Cone out on the town ... love to hear some of those stories (because you know they happened).
Meh, four letter network night. Is that Girardi in the booth?
RIP, Dr. John.
Oh, joy ... it's Kendry Morales.
Be still my heart.
Oh, joy ... a repeat:
218 cult of basebaal ~ Jun 5, 2019 9:31 pm
And I STILL can't stand Kendry Morales.
Good thing he had a helmet
Man, the DJLM signing was key.
Hicks!
Kablammo!
Now, that's much, much more to my liking.
[225] Yeah, absolute legend. One of the best from a city with SO SO many amazing musicians. Only got to see him once :(
Gio joins the party.
[221] Can't believe he's still in the league!
[221] you mean like that.
oontz, Oontz, OONTZ ... DJ in da house!
I didn't know what to think of Wells in the booth but he is cracking me up about Cito.
[238] Didn’t realize there was a YES broadcast, had the ESPN one. Joe Sciambi and David Ross are just boring.
There goes the shutout
Huh, a starter can go seven innings.
Time to bring in Chapman. A slam doesn’t tie the game
Hurray. A rusty Chapman with the bases loaded and no outs.
Nice.
The old “walk the dog” magic worked again.
Coy-kill to the Bravos. I guess the Braves and Yankees both offered 13 mil, but the Braves let him keep his beard too? Maybe a prudent move on the Yanks part because it will take some time to knock off the rust, and perhaps this means that Severino is close to returning? We still have the trade deadline and after the walking wounded return, I think other clubs will see that the Yanks have legit major league ready players and not just prospects to swing a deal.
[246] No, Barves offered 13+, Yankees only offered 11.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Penny wise, pound foolish slaps me in the face.
I missed me some Didi! So happy he's back. Nice too see a sun filled park as opposed to the sad state of affairs at the Skydome. Yes. I know its real name but fuck that.
Good first for German.
Actually, Kay, you *can* have complaints about Gary's defense this year, if you were paying attention.
tl;dr ... his pb and framing stats have reversed.
First pitch double, oops, out. Still a nice hit for Didi.
WHY IS KENDRY MORALES STILL A THING?????
[252] And Thairo Estrada was sent down. WFT.
Syndrome!
Atta boy, Clint!
Yay Clint
[253] Between that and the decision to go cheap with Keuchel, yesterday was not a good day for front office decision making.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
[246] Why do we have to give away prospects when it would have taken a measly 2 million to close the deal. Makes absolutely no fucking sense.
Yet, they have plenty of cash to pour into YES, which will not help the team win one game.
Can we just leave Kendry out in the woods?
Yes Michael, but it's hard to tell when Gardie is slumping any more.
Shudda had more.
[260] I'd prefer to "tell him about the rabbits" ...
[262] Yup.
[263] That works too.
RELEASE THE KRAKEN ('s arm)!!!
Hicks again!
HICKS!!!
Heating up!
Lindor with the leather.
Grrrr ... another good play. Gah.
And ... exhale.
I used to hate, Paulie (in the booth), but I have really have come to love his positive attitude and sharp insights, especially on hitting and pitching.
Well that sucks
Paulie is a complete goober ... but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for him. Don't ask him about the world (oh, no, please, no), but he's got a veteran's insight into what it was/is like to play the game.
Him and Cone are great together.
[274] And he remembers how hard it is to play the game, which is something a lot of jocks forget soon after they get behind the mic.
I am really gonna miss Frazier when they trade him and Estevan Florial for a washed up Bumgarner.
Hicks Fraziered that one.
I hate the no pitch walk.
[264] sigh.
And Tampa’s winning.
I hate that Hicks is not a plus defender anymore, if he ever was one. I hate that this "elite" bullpen, isn't elite ever often. There I feel better.
[281] We are experiencing a natural correction on this over-achieving team. It's going to be tooth-and-nail to the wire. I'd say they will have to be very lucky to avoid the Wild Card playoff.
Didi!!!
[283] Let's not all crowd on the fainting couch at once ... might get ... uncomfortable.
Though, I'd feel a lot better if the Yankees didn't play the "cheap bastard" card and pass on Keuchel.
Just back from walking the dog. Had to take my time because I did something to my back overnight.
Brett leading off and Kendry batting 6th? Did CC tick off Boone?
WHY IS KENDRY MORALES STILL ON THIS FUCKING TEAM????
I thought the Yankees had a quality analytics group.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
Brett leading off and Kendry batting 6th?
Better than Brett batting 3rd and Kendry hitting 4th ... marginally.
Who is the analyst on FOX today?
He's actually ... good.
Tom Verducci
No, in the booth.
Ugh, this inning won't end well.
Sigh ...
Ah, then I don't know.
Crap.
Modammit
verducci is good in the booth today. who is "aaron" in the booth?
our offense is really sputtering. shitty showing against these past two young pitchers.
also, it's incredibly frustrating to sit both gary and voit in the same game, AND have kendrys batting in the middle of the lineup. argh!
really wanted CC to get #250 in the land of cleve today...
motherfucking bullshit. what a bunch of fucking bollocks this series is.
Shit shit shit
good thing dellin got shut down today... : /
#2 on my list?
Jonathan "Holder".
verducci is in the booth today. but i had to mute...
glad i did. plawecki? really? and, fuck these names: plutko and lupkow?
FUCK!!!
[298] No kidding. Morales needed to be fired into the Sun about 2 weeks ago.
[303] It's not Verducci that's been interesting in the booth; it's obviously an ex-player, but I'm not sure who it is.
Didi likely would have made 3rd, but that was the right decision given the score ...
Better
CC should have retired two years ago or at least transitioned to the bullpen as an opener where his 1-2 inning effectiveness would be more valuable to the team. Every time he pitches into the 4th, 5th innings hitters look like they are hitting off of a tee. He doesn't have major league stuff any more. It never made any sense (besides bring cheap) to sign him AND an aging Happ this off season.oh and I agree with Holder and all of the bullpen guys who come in when we are losing. We have too many mop up guys for an alleged vaunted bullpen.
i think Tom's been good today. he keeps talking to an "Aaron," and i have no idea who that is...
didi's having quite an involved coupla games back! glad he scored easily. too bad we're down by eleventy runs though and will be out of first place...
kendrys morales - unproductive out. SHOCKING!!!
Morales is SO fucking slow.
stab! Stab!! STAB!!!
He doesn't have major league stuff any more
And yet, he's got the one of the lowest exit velocities of any starter over the last 3 years, this year included ...
[309] Maybe dropping out of 1st will light a fire under management's collective asses ...
Nah.
Maybe Morales is the new Raul Ibanez who did nothing in the regular season and then went off in the playoffs that one year? Or maybe that's just wishful thinking?
bullshit, ump. there were 5 balls in that at-bat.
wishful thinking, texas! please, Please, PLEASE don't let morales be on our team in October...
someone said CC doesn't have major league stuff? oy and vey.
[309] And he'll probably be the first to give up a home run with a sub 70 exit velocity. :P
[314] If Morales is still on this roster come August, I'm buying a seat behind the visitor's dugout at Dodger Stadium and spending the entire game insulting Boone-y for playing him.
The. Whole. Game.
CC doesn't have major league stuff after the second inning. I firmly stand by that. If he didn't have the pitching experience he has he would get rocked from the first batter on.
Didi!!!
At least having him back gives me some smiles ...
do it, cult!
didi is sooo awesome!
Carrying CC wouldn't be a real problem if the front office had make the moves necessary to not make it a real problem ...
[322] Oh, I will. I'll spend the entire month of July collecting insults (PG only, I promise) to throw Boone-y's way ...
cult & PG = does not compute!!! ; )
[326] Have to remember to be polite in public!
=)
good on you, man!
OK ... my current Yankees "Shit List" (players only):
#1) Morales
#2) Holder
#3) Cessa
[328] Now, if I were Malcolm Tucker, it might be different ...
[328] I can't promise not to dip into the Roman Moroni "pseudo-profanities well" though ...
i'm out. have a good one, cult!
[332] You too, Nostra!
Crud. And now I have to hope Boston beats Tampa.
You have got to be kidding me. Now German is on the DL.
[335] At least it makes his recent struggles more acceptable/understandable ... right?
(weeps into morning beer)
Yay, Gritner!
GRITNER'S REVENGE!!!
Yeah, it does. Plus he’s on an innings limit, so maybe shut him down for 3-4 weeks now. Wouldn’t be a problem in Cashman signed Keuchel
Gardy should throw his helmet more often.
[339] (weeps into morning beer)
oontz ... Oontz ... OONTZ!
DJ!!!
DJ does it again. strong case that he's the team MVP so far
Machine ignores the Yankees radiation of not getting a RISP hit. Very disrespectful.
Luuuuke
put a foot on the neck now.
phew, no hanging Chad
more brain freeze by Frazier
There is no need to make this game interesting.
Oh shit.
GD TK.
that certainly sucks
Ooff
Well th dog needs walking
OFFS ... I take a break up 5-0 ... and now it's 5-5?!?!?!?!?!?
Good job, Clint. Trade value going back up.
boom goes Frazier.
Well, a run is ... something.
No insurance.
Fer fucks sake.
Oooof ... this team needs an enema.
I accept that out.
Number two
triple digits.
Oh, Didi.
oh, Didi
OFFS.
Unreal.
Yankees are deep in the funk and not in a good way.
Free baseball
oy, extras
Thank you Aaron
Still no insurance
3 outs to go.
TARPLEY????
O.o?
It's so crazy ... it could work!
(or not)
Ha, no HBP for you.
not even close
down to the last out.
2
Tarpley!
ugly W but a W nonetheless. nite all
Like I said ... so crazy, it would work!
Rats, postponed. Day night DH tomorrow, 1 pm &. 7 pm.
Too much rain. And given the craziness today, Papi being shot and the helicopter crash, probably for the best. As it’s now a DH, do the teams get to add a 26th player?
Nice catch, Gritner.
And congrats to Tanaka & his wife. Baby girl
Crud, now Kendry will get more playing time. Still, a run is a run.
Crap, #obligatoryhomers are supposed to be solo shots.
Fucking Bollocks!
Challenge
Yes!
Didi is making Gleyber look like Ozzie Smith.
Well got one run at least.
Oy
Clint sure got a good look at those fastballs. He should try swinging next time.
I like it!
Gio! Tied up.
Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke!
Luuuuke! You are our father
Kendry can play, as long as it's the Mets.
6.2 meh from Tanaka. But I'll take it.
Double Digits!!
And two more while I walked the dog.
And 4 more for the USWNT. 7 Nil
[400] Right at that point, 7-0, I said aloud (to my son), "They have a chance to catch the Yankees' total..."
And lo... they surpassed it.
Aw crap.
Come on, Big Maple.
Well Chance Adams is the 26th man tonight. Looks like he’ll get a chance to pitch.
What happened to Big Maple today?
Missed the day game, Sanchez is still crushing it, hope he gets to 40 on the season. Can't be too many catchers who have done that...Bench, IRod, not sure if Yogi or Campanella ever did, maybe Piazza..? And some outlier like Mickey Tettleton or Jody Davis from the 80s?
Lots of two strike hits.
Well we got three back.
Chip away boys, chip away. Plenty of game left.
3 runs forward ... 2 runs back.
Meh.
And promptly give two back.
So Dellin is shut down. Maybe he’ll be like a late season pick up.
Le Machine continues to rake.
Rats
Might be time to do something else ...
Same here. Hard to sweep a DH
