Aw crap, rain delay. I finally have time to watch baseball, the game is on MLBN, with the Yankees feed, and dad is going for in patient rehab, and farging rain.
And the thing is, I felt like that hiome run was coming from Yoshida. This team really, really, really needs a win. Obviously this game shouldn’t have come down to the ninth inning. Too may squandered opportunities.
I've been advocating for moving Volpe out of the leadoff spot for at least a month, I'm actually sorta shocked that Boone-y (or, more likely management) made the change ... I think Rice is going to be a keeper ... hopefully he Pipps Rizzo ((no offense to Ratso, but I think that concussion (and the subsequent botching of his treatment by the Yankees medical staff and management) last year, perma-fried him))
I was thinking the same about Girardi. He’s been great these two games. He obviously knows a lot; gives insight from a player’s perspective and a manager’s perspective, but he’s also casual and relaxed. Great stuff.
My first Yankee game on tv since June 27th. Good time to be out of town for a while. Yikes. Things were not so great beforehand, either. I am bummed I missed Rice's 3 dinger game yesterday. Go Yankees!
This isn’t new analysis, but it’s stunning how mediocre the offense is when Soto and Judge aren’t hitting. Obviously Ben Rice isn’t gonna hit three home runs every night.
Yeah, I didn’t mind sending him back out, but I didn’t feel good about that second batter. In Boone’s defense, the Yankees don’t seem to have anyone who can get Devers out. Maybe it was worth the risk to give Gil the opportunity.
The most enjoyable part of the first two and a half months was that so many guys were contributing. You never knew when the big hit was gonna come or who the hero would be. It was fun. Now if Soto and Judge don’t produce something; I find myself counting batters until they’re up again.
Greetings from NY! On the way to my parents house with my family from the airport.
Our team SUCKS! Every aspect. I loathe watching this fucking clown pitch and am glad the game is blacked out on my phone. I’m sure my Dad will have it on when we arrive. Thankfully, I have beer in the basement fridge!
I expect to get swept this whole week and the week after the A-S break. Maybe we’ll luck into a win or two…
Forget the game was on and then saw on the twitter that the Yanks had 2nd and 3rd with no outs and failed to score. I turn on game remember why the trop needs to be blown to bits. Fucking bollocks!
Dad might come home today, dang blood pressure thing.
[1] There’s another thing to be happy about. Keeping a good thought for you.
Oy, this team.
I don't think there's any doubt Rice should continue playing when Rizzo returns.
Swept by the Reds. Yikes.
Ok, beat the Red Sox
Aw crap, rain delay. I finally have time to watch baseball, the game is on MLBN, with the Yankees feed, and dad is going for in patient rehab, and farging rain.
Ok, that was quick
Jeez, Volpe, run
Ok, walking the terrorists worked.
Quality start from Nestor.
Um, how about some fielding and base running practice?
Phew.
Can we bring back Mo?
Grrrr.

Worst record in baseball since June 13th.
Glad to see the site is back up again.

Dad’s at rehab, shooting for a Friday homecoming, food is bad. I’ll bee in and out all week.
I may not be missing much.
Tied up
Untied
Sorry to hear about your dad, rbj ... I live with my 80+ year old parents, so I understand
untied ... again!
The bottom of the Yankee lineup cannot be stopped.
LET RICE COOK!!!!
This kid Rice…
Rizzo will make a really nice bench coach.
And left-handed pinch hitter
Missed the fireworks. Ah can have the game on and BB as well.
Here ya go ...

Rice!
His confusion over getting the curtain call was priceless!
This is a good booth ... Girardi has impressed me ... a LOT.
I was thinking the same about Girardi. He’s been great these two games. He obviously knows a lot; gives insight from a player’s perspective and a manager’s perspective, but he’s also casual and relaxed. Great stuff.
I just saw the all stars. Only 3 Yankees? I am surprised Gil didn't get a little love.

Looks out to me
Yes
How good at catcher defense is Ben Rice?
Never seen him there. I expect he’s the spare, emergency backup catcher.
Still concerned about the offense, but it’s great to see Gil looking like the April and May version. Simply dominant.
Ah, there’s Cone
Aw jeez
Remember when every Yankees-Red Sox game was a guaranteed four hours? This game is on pace for 1:50 or so. Crazy.
Good job, Gil. Now get him some runs
Six dominant innings. I’ll take it.

Hmm, sending Gil back out
Sigh

Devers seems to get a lot of big hits against the Yanks. They need to score at least one anyway to win. Might as well score 2 or more.
68 pitches in 7 innings?

Even though I watched the Yankees score 14 runs yesterday, I can’t imagine them scoring three tonight.
Walking the terrorists backfired
Grumble

I don't know when they changed Boone-y's meds, but I LIKE new Wacky, Zany Lineup Boone-y.
Not that Verdugo leading off is ideal ... but pretty much NOBODY is ideal leading off ... well, except for Soto, but I guess that will never happen.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Verdugo pops up on the 1st pitch.
We stole a base! We had a caught stealing! We had a 4-out save! We won a close game. We still suck…
Also, I *love* SOTO!!!
Forget the game was on and then saw on the twitter that the Yanks had 2nd and 3rd with no outs and failed to score. I turn on game remember why the trop needs to be blown to bits. Fucking bollocks!
Back to anything else. JFC!
Ah, they are playing tonight. Rain and t-storms down here.
Phew, the Yankees didn’t score. I was worried there
Hey, a run!
And another
I was getting worried about Judge.
Good pitching and timely hitting? Nice after another day with dad. At the rehab place. Grr, get his BP right.
