you know I wonder if I should just be a total goofball, more than I am already, on these little things. Ted is actually a really funny guy, but in 3 minutes, there isn't much time to get loose.
If you look at our team stats, they indicate a team playing very well. Offensively, everyone is doing fine except ARod and Matsui. ARod is obviously hurt, and Matsui, at .812 OPS, isn't terrible.
Same with our pitching. In terms of ERA, our current staff is fine except Wang and AJ. AJ is league average, but that's not good for a #3. Same with Andy, but I'll take league average from a #5 anytime.
The problem is timing. Our team RISP is .804.... not horrible, but I would lile to see that broken down into: when behind, when tied, when ahead. I'll bet we pile on the RISP during blowouts, and my gut tells me our RISP when behind is very poor.
While we have had a lot of comebacks, we have lost a number of close games, leaving tons of runners on. It seems that we are more likely to get a 2 out HR, then a hit with man on 2nd/no outs or man on 3rd/1 out.
We are wasting too many opportunities.
I think that is the story of this club.
The good news is, that could turn around at any time.
And lets be honest, the poor play over the last 10 games in not unrelated to ARod's troubles at the plate. Like it or not, one way or the other, the guy has a huge impact on this team.
[4] Actually, you sound relaxed when you're analyzing the team and its issues, so that shouldn't change; Ted's the one who sounds almost like a game show host >;) If you wanted to be goofy, you'd break the fourth wall and pretend you were talking straight to Bronx Banter:
Alex: "This comment comes from Horace Clarke Era... (turns to camera) yunnow, the one who shows up at the end of game threads to flagellate dead horses with his drinking buddy OldYanksFan..."
Ted: "I know that guy!"
Alex: Right, he's my hero. (turns back towards Ted) Well, he writes...
[10] Those compromising photos he's got locked in an undisclosed location really helped his career, huh? He must be/have the Best Photographer in the World! Now, if only we can get him to snap Matsui's wife; he can (thankfully) retire on what that would bring... >;)
I dunno, thelarmis; sometimes you just gotta laugh to keep from crying...
Who you callin scruffy lookin?
Thanks Alex for getting Ted to finally stop slouchin'! You are obviously a positive influence!
: )
You should've eaten you're Frosted Flakes this morning, Alex. "Ted, it's GRRRRRRREAT!!! >;)
Go HCE! Soon enough, we'll all be live-blogging on a telecast, provided SNY can afford a good moderator (they'll need one for us!)

[3] Hell Chyll Will, I'm just grateful the Yankees play of late didn't make Alex start to slouch!
: )
Slouch this! LOL. It's hard to sit up straight in those chairs without feeling like a total stiff.
LOL
