Long time readers may recall my April 2005 post about when I took my then-67-year-old boss, Ray, to his first Yankee game. Ray Roberts passed away this morning after succumbing to a respiratory illness. Ray and I had done a poor job of staying in touch following his retirement. We had standing plans to get together which never panned out, and I failed to call him in hospice because I was afraid to face the reality of his illness.
So do me a favor. In memory of Ray, call your grandfather/grandmother/mother/father/sister/brother or old friend who you’ve been meaning to call. Better yet, take them to a ballgame.
I've taken (or gone with is probably more accurate, but I did buy the tickets) my father to four games already this year. We're very, very close, but I've always said, even if we weren't that close, we'd always have baseball together.
Sorry to here that, Cliff. I'll say a prayer for both of you, and as for your favor I'm gonna go visit my step-sister and her family; hopefully including a trip to see her oldest son at the center in Rockland. Take care, pal.
yes, sorry to hear that cliff. hopefully you can hang on to the good memories - re-reading your piece (i was a lurker back then) reminded me of what a good time you guys must have had. and how awful luis sojo was as 3b coach.
i will call grandma tonight - she turns 90 today.
Always good to be reminded to not let too much time pass without telling the people you care about that you care about them.
Sorry for your loss, Cliff.
[4] Ditto.
Cliff - i'm sorry for your loss, man. there's been waaay too much tragedy lately.
more than anything in the world, i wish i could call my grandpa. he wouldn't pick up... still, i haven't been able to delete him from my phone and he's the #1 call on there.
my parents are coming to visit me the end of the month for a work week. we're gonna catch a Braves game, i'm sure!
my brother just suffered an injury and i'm in touch with him. (he'll be fine...)
[3] Happy 90th Birthday to Grandma October!!! : )
[0] Sorry to heat that news..inspired me to call my auntie, 85yrs young and just two years removed from climbing ruins in Turkey and Egypt..
