Yep, I live with my wife and doggies in SW Reno. Just moved here last year from Portland OR (big change) for a job. I work for the world's largest geothermal energy company, Ormat. I am loving the mtn biking and hiking. Tahoe is amazing. And Reno is a funny (funny quirky/strange) little place, huh?
Ttoday it's looking like the warm weather is finally here to stay! I'm gonna have to jet out early and get a ride in before the Yanks start at 4.
My parents live up in the NW, close to the Boomtown Casino/ Giant Cabelas and I probably visit 4-5 times a year. Like you said, plenty of great outdoor activities available, close to Tahoe, close to a TON of great wine, S.F. is only 3 hours away.
Not sure what you like, but I could throw some restaurant ideas at you ...
Sure, we are always looking for more good places to eat. We go to Joseph's Vienna Cafe lots for breakfast and lunch. That's my favorite place in town. We also like the Harrah's Steakhouse, Granite Street, and Sup.
What's amusing about Joseph's? Their food is fantastic and they seem to have overcome their service issues. I have been looking forward to trying Palais de Jade. You recommend?
Oh, I wasn't amused about the *quality* of Joseph's, it's great ... only that I was thinking of PdJ when I raised the question of restaurants ... and then you named a place I knew ... across the street from a place I was going to recommend.
=)
PdJ is probably my favorite restaurant in Reno.
At the very least, I'd recommend a 2:1 ratio between dish and diner, they do a fantastic job a making every dish different, in sauce and spice and space.
There are a couple of dishes that I can honestly say are as good as I've ever had ... and I was *born* in Hong Kong and lived 13 years in SE Asia ...
Gonna hit triple digits here in Toledo. Not gonna do much today. Except drink plenty of fluids.
77 in Reno later today. 19% humidity. Ah, late spring in the high Sierra...
You live in Reno, a.O.?

Yeah, Reno's really grown on me.

[6] Heh, that's amusing. I know Joseph's.
Have you been to Palais de Jade across the street?

Do you like NY style pizza?
