I went out and saw the new Batman movie last night. I thought it was well worth ten bucks and easily the most impressive Batman movie to date. Meanwhile, Pedro and the Mets beat the Yanks 6-4 on a steamy night in the Bronx.
I’m gunna miss today’s game as well. Instead, I’m heading down to Philly with some Red Sox friends of mine to see Boston play the Phils. I’ve never been to the new stadium down there–heck, I never went to the old one either–so it should be a good time.
Go Yanks.
1. Hope you're taking the train. Jersey Shore traffic may work against the drive to Philly.
2. IMO, Christain Bale is the best Batman so far. It is the first time that I can't recognize Bruce Wayne when he becomes Batman. Good movie with a great supporting cast.
3. The only problem with Bale is that his Batman voice was awful, did not intimidate anyone with it.
4. I went and saw Batman last night, and I agree it's the best Batman movie to date, even the best superhero movie to date. Bale's Batman voice might have been a little forced in some situations, it was better than, say, James Earl Jones in the new Star Wars movie (i.e, NOOOoooOoOOOOooOOo!!!! http://darthno.ytmnd.com/).
5. The one positive from today's game: Womack didn't play. No small thing.
6. while Giambi is never going to be the 'old Giambi', he is hitting over .300 and .878 OPS in June. While I like Tino's glove, I think we need Giambi at first everyday.
Since we have a 'new' centerfielder, it looks like Bernie will DH, and Tino will see a lot of bench time.
The Boys on ESPN are right on about RJ. His slider is NOT moving down, but staying on the same vertical plane... which is why he is getting hit. He is giving up too many fat 0-2 pitches. He is going to need to get his slider to dip and start pitching smarter. Pedro is a great example of a guy who uses his head when his stuff is not it's best. RJ should take a lesson.
The Yankees are showing us how bad defense loses ballgames. Bernie can't play CF naymore, although I don't know why they don't give him a shot in LF. Woe-is-me-mack is now featuring and OPS of .534 (hard to believe) and needs to be deported.
7. I'm chiming in late with this, but are we forgetting the fantastic Tim Burton Batmans? "Begins" was over-serious and over-long. It was better than #'s 3 and 4 in the series, but let's not forget the visual masterpieces that Burton created.
And coming from someone who loves Cillian Murphy, he and Liam Neeson are no match for Jack Nicholson in the villain category.
