oh, this is sad. i need to go there and check stuff out. and, of course, follow wilker's cardboard gods wherever they go!!! the banter at the toaster, was the first - and only - board i've ever taken part of. good times, thanks ken!
[4] i've been going back for cardboard gods pretty regularly and will certainly follow it to the new site. i'd catch up on the griddle whilst there, but alas, bob t. is retiring from blogging. sigh...
I've still been using the Toaster re-direct to get here everyday, and would look in on DT and Cardboard Gods from time to time. It's a shame to see the set-up go because it seemed to attract only those people really interested in each respective topic. Once BB departed, I figured DT wouldn't be far behind, which, of course, would be a death knell. With mainstream media websites desperate for traffic, I guess the eventual consolidation of popular independent blogs was inevitable,, but it is still lamentable.
Luckily, the new BB home has slowly been able to come together. Even though I still prefer the Toaster layout, the continuity of the conversation and intelligence of the commenters has remained intact. I wonder, however, if the same will be true for DT? With moderated comments and input for the paper, I can't imagine how it could be. Also, bigger isn't better. With an influx of "casual commenters", I'd have to think the regulars will lose interest.
All good things must come to an end, I suppose. Glad I was part of it.
Our words shall belong to the ages. (sigh)

Wow.
I've hardly stopped back there at all since the BB move, but it's kind of a shock that Ken is closing up shop.
Uh, thanks for the John Sterling imitation, Raf.

So sad, but at least DT and Cardboard Gods will go on. The world will not be the same without the Griddle, however.

Sad.
Too sad.
Ugh.
It just underscores how much I value all you people, though I barely know you.
What a great site! Bare bones, baseball, and B.S.!
