[6] nope, never heard of them. i know the band simply called SWORD - 80's straight forward metal from Canada. i think i have one or both of their albums on vinyl/tape.
i just looked up The Sword (BNR Pages) - they seem to be new and very, very good! looks like they've only released those 2 cd's. i'll check in with my brother - i'm sure he knows of them. sounds like they're an excellent band and getting a good push. nice find, Cult!
[7] they're a bit derivative, don't know if they're really created something that's definitively their "own thing", but it's catchy and a hella bunch of fun playing spot the influence: iron maiden, "paranoid" and "masters of the universe" black sabbath, "show no mercy" era slayer, "kill 'em all" metallica.
search youtube for "lament for the aurochs" and "ebethron", those are two of my favorite tracks off the 1st album (the entire album is on youtube).
[0] Thanks for the shout out AB! Just a side-bar hobby to the main jazz site, of even more limited interest I suppose..I just dig the randomness and individuality of these places.
[2] Really? Will keep it in mind, no chance of transplants for me here!
[3] Haha, PJ, like a lot of places here, there is no relation to the name and the type of cafe it is. You're safe at the Cafe Lolita with their coffee and $5 Coronas
Awesome! : )
cool stuff ok jazz.
plus since we are very similar ethnicity, i will know how to track you down if i ever need a bone marrow donor or something :}
I don't think my wife would even let me walk past Cafe Lolita without her being there to hurry me by, making me unable to look inside!
: )
I've never been to Japan yet, but it reminds me so much of Roosevelt and Main in Flushing! >;)

Cano 2B
Posada C
Matsui DH
Swisher RF

hey, nostralarmis, you ever listened to "The Sword"?
they're out of Austin. very sabbath and early thrash influenced.
i'm really digging their first 2 albums.
