Pujols cycle watch:

Albert tripled and homered early. Then he got IBB, and later drew the old fashioned kind of walk. I thought that blew his chance at the cycle, but StL got their first to batters on in the seventh, and with a further rally or a rally in the eighth or ninth, it's possible he could come up twice more. Fortunately, they're the visitors (winning 8-4).

Nope, he grounds out in the seventh, and now there's really no chance of two more PA.

I would have killed at least one pedestrian if I drove like that! That vid reminds me of NYC cabbies...

Wow .... I do believe the Mets have given up on this season.

They just traded Ryan Church for Jeff Francoeur, straight up.

Wow!

[4] I just got that press release and very seriously wondered if it was a joke.

Man, poor Mets fans, like this year didn't suck enough. Unless we find out that Ryan Church was secretly mainlining heroin and killing kittens or something, that makes STUNNINGLY little sense...

Woo hoo, Yankees miss the home run robbing Torii Hunter and the I don't care if he's having a bad season he's still dangerous Vlad Guerro.

[5] You know, I take that back... even if Ryan Church was a kitten-killing heroin addict, this trade would made no sense.

[6] Probably good for the Yanks, but I'm bummed - they're two of my favorite players to watch!

[4] I hope you get well soon, Diane! Obviously you have an oblique strain from either too much Batting Practice, or too much laughing, or both!

I'll try to not make you laugh until you are better...

I will be gosh and take the Lovin' Spoonful.

[10] Gosh!

[9] There is just something eerily wrong with hitting home runs into a bunch of fake rocks and boulders, not to mention red everywhere...

Between Hinske and Francoeur, as I mentioned after the Hinske deal, pickens are slim indeed where trades are concerned these days!

[9] That's one fugly bottom three.

Meanwhile, Albaladejo was sent back down to make room for Melancon.

[10] I don't much care for the Lovin' Spoonful either. I'll take Sly Stone's "Hot Fun In the Summertime."

15 ms october   ~  Jul 10, 2009 8:23 pm

[13] hmm bye bye albie. he was actually doing fairly well. hopefully it was just a situation that he wouldn't be able to go tonight and soon he will be back and tomko will be dfa'd.

melky and his ops+ of 100 does not want to be included with cody's 44 and molina's 89 - actually molina probably doesn't want to be included with cody

16 PJ   ~  Jul 10, 2009 9:20 pm

[14] I like Sly and the Family Stone. I also like Will and Jeff's "Summertime" too, Cliff! You know, the one with the "dog pitch" high notes?

[15] Poor Cody... doomed to a life of sub-mediocrity... where anything at a ML level is shocking...

17 Cliff Corcoran   ~  Jul 11, 2009 2:37 am

PJ, those high notes come straight from the Kool & The Gang sample. Dig the original.
