The Big Fella is on the hill for the Yanks tonight. He’s had a good not great season so far. I’d really like to see him go on a serious roll here. Who knows how much longer Burnett can stay this hot. It’s gotta start and end with CC.
Let’s go boys, this is just the warm-up. We’re hoping y’all fatheads make the playoffs and bring us home another title.
Ya herd?
[0] "Ya herd?"
Werd!
yes, let's go big man.
would love to get a dominating performance, but i'm not complaining about what cc has done.
darryly dawkins was the absolute shit.
that if he pulls my card, i'm good to flow
toe to toe, blow to blow, without h2o
ayo, you want to battle? i'm good to g o
Ummmmm....why am I getting Yankeeography???
Tonight's game is on My9...
723 on DirecTV...
[4] Right, but I am watching on Rogers Sports Net in Canada, which is supposed to get tonight's game feed from wherever if comes. Fucking great...they've got the wrong feed.
OK...they just switched to the Rays feed. Calm has been restored.
i'm not sure if this was posted in the jeter thread earlier today (if so, my apolgies, i was distracted by oyf's blind loyalty to ownership :})
derek's obp is 402 - highest on the team - only his 1999-2000 and 2006 season higher - quite nice and him leading off has paid off (jd's obp is 364) - even if the lineup order is not that big of a difference over the course of a season
[7] good - we need your banter
it is always a bit diconcerting to expect baseball and you see yankeeography
[7] LOL @ Dwayne Stats, that "bastion" of all things MLB... well since after last year's World Series anyway...
: )
mk's "calls" are getting even worse
No "Pastadiving" that time...
That was "Frozen Pizza."
Bleh!
My tv feed looks like it's from left center. Bizarre.
[11] Kay and Sterling come from the school of fabricated excitement. Of course, Kay is on TV so it doesn't really work that well. Sterling, however, does an excellent job. He so completely makes things up that when you watch a replay after listening it's like experiencing a whole new game.
i think melky almost stole on jeter
[14] yeah it's like he doesn't trust that the play itself is exciting enough. he has to make it exciting.
well, beats picking up Bronson Arroyo ...
Aside from too many walks, I think this pitching staff's biggest problem is dealing with men on base....not only holding them close, but not becoming distracted while doing so. I think that's the biggest reason for the Yankees struggles against the Angels. A hit by a speedy runner turns into an implosion.
double gorgeous, like ... TWINS!!!
nice stretch tex
longoria really is the dp king
It must be glove 'cause offense don't smell like that!
: )
[17] it seems to me that, aside from walks, pitching with men on base is every pitching staff's problem
crawford is fast but i think most left fielders cut that ball off, not hit all that well
[17] I normally don't mind that too much. I'm more of the Bobby Cox/Atlanta Pitching staff mentality: ignore the runners and pay attention to the batter. This was certainly Maddux' m.o.
But with the Yankees, it does seem to lead not infrequently to meltdowns.
pretty good for a guy with a bad hip
[21] I didn't mean pitching with all men on base, but dealing with speedy runners.
[23] I am also in the ignore the runners camp in many situations. That's not what the Yankees seem to do. Instead, they seem to become very preoccupied with the runner, which translates to less focus on the hitter.
[25] yeah but isn't that why everyone has trouble with those kinds of teams? i agree with monkeypants that it's best for them to just pitch, though it is infuriating when they pay absolutely no attention when it's obvious a steal is upcoming.
Anyone getting an mlb.tv feed? I have a black square.
[23] i have no way of truly knowing this, but it *seemed* like maddux truly ignored the runners - he didn't do anything to hold them and he didn't let them effect his pitching; some of the yankee pitchers follow the first part - don't vother holding them on, but they at times *seem* to let the speedy runners bother them
[25] The Nationals "lead the league with dealing with speedy runners." And look where they are. : D Yes I made that up.
A silent black square, I should say.
...
bah to matsui, po, and cano
Well, if it's true that the Yankee scouts are in Cincinnati tonight to watch Arroyo, he's not impressing them.
O silent black square
Transmogrify to baseball
RIYank implores
zobrist is quick looks like he would have been safe no matter what
...and after I read numerous articles today on Jeter's improved defense.
Crap, that wouldn't have been close anyway. Show us how to score a man from 2nd with no outs now : (
[35] (ground ball to the hole, jeter got to it but threw it into the stands, zobrist on 2nd)
[39] Thanks.
I guess CC didn't want Jetes to feel bad about the throwing error. Now it's irrelevant.
Hmm...we may see Melancon yet.
[42] who?
Got the feed now!
For some reason switching from Firefox to Safari did it.
The TB gun had that pitch at only 91, but he blew it by Peña.
Did everyone see that our Charleston team was no-hit by that pitcher the Sox sent to Pittsburgh for LaRoche?
[44] was just going to test for ya. i'm listening tonight whil ei get work done.
Yucky performance from CC so far. The big man has to get it together fast.
Bit of a jam here. C'mon, CC!
Somebody send CC a picture of what Home Plate looks like...
[46] yeah i saw that. Pirates fan in the office was pleased.
[50] does he have his cell phone on the mound? I can text it to him.
crap
Damn. Took the infield single and both walks to get Zobrist into position to score, too.
Can't complain about the inning. The Big Man hunkered down and prevented a big inning.
[55] Yep...that was an earned run the hard way. At least CC limited the damage. Now, is there anything left in the score truck's tank?
Coulda been a lot worse.
definitely relieved. sounds like we all are.
I suspect a true outcome for Swisher.
how does it work that there always seems to be a pretty girl sitting in the front row somewhere close to home plate?
[60] Baseball players' girlfriends?
[60] I think those are Jeter's tickets.
The Yankees have played so well (outside of Anaheim), that not having a lead feels very strange.
thank god after tomorrow we won't have to hear about mk's first taste of a condiment anymore
[65] I have the TB feed...it's been rather enjoyable.
I would send Jeter.
Shit, I thought that was over his head.
Hey, you bum. Damon isn't WIse.
[65] Enjoyable and self-referential.
why thehell is gabe kapler still around?
i think if you make a movie called funny people, you'd better be damn sure you get some funny clips in the commercials
alright carsten let's have a strong inning here big man
[70] affirmative action
Swisher is not a very good outfielder.
Um.
Keep your eye on the ball, Swish. Good lord.
I think the difference between 2nd half 2008 CC and 1st half 2009 CC really says something aboyt the difference in offense between the leagues and divisions.
Oh shit
That's not so good. CC hasn't exactly been light out in the "big games". That is starting to worry me a little bit.
Sabathia looks like doo-doo tonight, and Swisher misplayed that one badly to boot.
well, that was a shitty sequence start-to-finish ...
C'mon... that ball was way over Swish's head. No way an OFer catches that.
Oh, jeez.
Well, this is not our game, I think.
The Yankees were due for a game like this, I guess. It's still very disappointing.
ugliness
Well, at least the doo-dooism is all spread around tonight. I may have to go for a walk with the wife soon.
The Teix Effect isn't working today.
Does ARod have to copy EVERYTHING Jeter does?
man, bad case of HUA (head up ass) for everybody tonite.
yuck.
[78] You think? The triple is the only really hard hit ball. The walks suck, but aside from that it's been crappy defense and a little luck.
[80] Then he should have played it off the wall.
And there are definitely Yankees scouts at tonight's Reds game, scouting Arroyo. Dodgers, too.
[81] Exactly...but he overpursued the ball and, because he was too close to the wall on an uncatchable ball, the ball rebounded past him and allowed both the triple and the run to score.
It speaks volumes that Gabe Kapler is a better OF than Nick Swisher... and it took less than an inning to see it in action...
[87] i agree. the walks last inning weren't good though.
Kay and Kenny are right that the bunt was stupid, but they have the wrong reason. "If Longoria doesn't score, they'll wonder why they had their clean-up hitter bunt..."
But the reason is that the Rays lose most of their chance of a really big inning here with that bunt. If you think Kazmir will hold the Yankees, then fine, but that's a pretty doubtful prediction.
I heard Michael Kay say "Dolph Ziggler" on live TV. My life is complete
this is cc's highest bb/9 in the last 3 years
also his lowest so/bb in the last 4 years
that is what is keeping him from being great this season
[93] I'm still "from Missouri" with respect to him eating something with a condiment! Emeril is going to have to prove that to me...
: )
Only three runs. We can make that up easily if they start hitting. Only one hit so far.
Not usually a good sign when E > H.
I love Tex' hustle.
Nice hustle Tex!
nobody as slow as tex runs as hard as he does
[98] I was never good at dancing.
I was going to lose my marbles if Teix got thrown out at 2B.
[100] I was at the Castill pop up game watching him motor around the bases while the ball was in the air. As he sprinted around, I thought "what the hell is he doing".
Goddam Carl Crawford.
damn some hard hits right at the fielders tonight
Great play by Crawford...that would have been big.
Alright...a little wine with dinner, followed by a couple of Saranacs...and soon a nice grappa. I'm feeling fine for the score truck.
Shit. No breaks for ARod.
[105] Yes they are hitting Kazmir hardly.
: )
Did W.B. Mason "borrow" the Yankees Score Truck?
Maybe not...
Woohoo Matsui!
Oh come on Matsui...if you get caught, it might as well be going toward 2B.
fuck matsui
least the score truck got started
This is truly the worst base running team I have ever seen.
This is a very high-density forehead-slapping game.
Jeez..... Terrible baserunning by the Robot.
Looks like Matsui's kicking himself.
[113] Baserunning is really their only weak point. This offense doesn't even strike out a lot (just a few away from the lowest total in the league). If they could eliminate the baserunning gaffes, it would be one of the better Yankee offenses...EVER. It might still be that when all is said and done.
c'mon Ripper, make it right!
[113] the bad base runners definitely out number the good ones. and the bad ones aren't just bad - they are dangerous, reckless, clueless
[117] Jeter and Teix are first rate base runners. Couldn't there be lessons or something? Maybe it's more a matter of feel, can't be taught.
[119] Can you get worse than Cano, Swisher and Posada as a trio?
My goodness is Posada slow.
Christ Posada is slow.
lord po is s l o w
[120] And some are both bad and very, very slow.
[120] I don't think baserunning can be taught. It is mostly instinct.
[114] Aw man! I had just taken the fish out for the Fish Slapping Dance!
Both that and this game are equally silly at this pernt...
[119] And slow too. Can't believe they got the out at 2nd base there.
[120] i think much of it is instinct
[121] i have yet to see such a trio
Oakland is really a horrible team. How the hell did the Yankees lose that game on Saturday!
[129] girardi!! :}
[127] Its not even just that he got forced out. He got forced out by like six feet.
I think Posada is slow.
With average defense this is a 1-1 game. Baserunning and errors have probably cost us the lead.
[121] Actually, truth be told, the Kingston Trio is pretty slow with poor instinct.
[130] Right...don't remind me.
[124] Japanese tv interview with Matsui yesterday, asking about his 1st to home "sprint" on Posada's double..he said it was tough, but he's still faster than Posada! Didn't know Matsui could bring it like that!
RIYank & Seamus, oddly enough, the morning tabloids here did not have Matsuzaka on the cover..though usually it's the evening sports tabloids that are more comprehensive..will check it out. No naughty office confessionals till then!
I think baserunning can be taught, to a certain point, but you need to work at it and practice constantly. Remember three or four years ago, Jorgie decided to work on his baserunning? He actually did improve. But then he decided to work on his footwork or his throwing or whatever, and kind of forgot the baserunning.
[136] Wow, Godzilla trash talk.
nice inning there big man
Better inning..and Kazmir with 70+ pitchers. Let's get the score truck started.
[139] Agreed! It's vital to put up a zero after scoring.
Gotsta keep up that momentum and all!
: )
This is one of those strange games in which the team has played very poorly, but yet it still feels like they should be winning.
[142] i think it feels like they should be tied
[143] Yes, but ties go to the runner.
[142] Because it's just the stupid little things that they've done so poorly. The actual hitting and pitching has been pretty strong.
[143] Agreed! And they should not be released until they are ready to represent what the Yankees are about!
: )
I don't like tomorrow's matchup, so I hope the Yanks can come back and win this one.
Bleh!
Meanwhile, Buchholz is pitching very poorly, but he's given up only two after 3 2/3. Eight hits! I hope Ricciardi is watching.
[147] Hey, that's strange. I do like tomorrow's match-up, but I still hope the Yanks can come back and win this one. Hmmmmm. Something isn't right.
[149] No way in hell I make that trafe with Boston unless they throw in Daniel "Lightning" Bard...Bucholz hasn't shown that much in the majors beyond the no-no..
8 hits and a walk in three innings (don't know why I said "3 2/3") and the A's have just two runs.
nice pitch
[149] Oakland is terrible!
[150] Joba's tendency to nibble and Garza's power stuff worry me.
[151] er..."trade"..isn't "trafe" some Yiddish word? Can any of our Jewish friends in the Banter enlighten me on this? Been gone from Brooklyn too long, have forgot all the acquired Yiddish!
i just can't imagine the jays trading halladay to boston or to us. i certainly wouldn't.
shit smacked that one
just as i thought cc really hit a groove
Can't blame the defense on that.
[151] Bard has been reported to be "untouchable".
I think this is stupid. We all know that Theo will trade anyone for the right deal. Look how they got Beckett. If Hanly Ramirez wasn't untouchable, nobody is.
Peter Gammons was reporting earlier today that the rumors of the Halladay offer must be wrong, because Ryan Westmoreland is untouchable. The bathos of Gammons' decline from respectability makes me uncomfortable.
gahblahyuckfuck.
Swisher sucks.
Oh, Swish.
[155] trayf- non kosher meats i think
Their play in this game is unacceptable!
[160] yeah, what he said.
that was a ridiculous play - both that swish didn't make it and that it was called a fair ball
[155] Yes. Not kosher.
Meloncon? Melancon?
I think it was fair. Barely.
Swisher is pretty bad out there, but C.C. has really been disappointing in this game. The Yankees need him to be more dominant in more games.
[167] Hard to see if the ball was fair or foul...it was definitely close. It looks like one of those games: if they have a chance to make a defensive play, the miss it...a chance to get a big hit, they miss it.
[163][167] Thanks!
[168] Hello McFLy!
[170] i think he's done a pretty good job considering the defense. it would be nice if he threw more strikes though.
Dammit CC, you have to get this last out w/o letting the runner score from third.
Good. Maybe the offense will wake up.
[166] Also that baseball is played in this building.
Hey, Kenny. Maybe Swish does not want to run full bore at the bullpen mound. Irregardless, our outfield defense sucks moose balls.
[167] is it anything that's not kosher?
Baseball is really the most challenging sport. The Yankees have been playing incredibly well, yet a loss here followed by some tough games ahead could result in them being 2.5 games out by this time next week.
[173] He's thrown 54 strikes. That's enough. But he should throw fewer balls.
[173] Not only has he walked too many, but the HR by Longoria and Crawford 3B accounted for three runs on their own. In only 5 innings, that's way too many.
[178] Yes. For example, shrimp is extremely traif.
[179] that's more like it, [63] had me confused
Cripes, the pop-up brigade marches on.
Way too aggressive against Kazmir in the last two innings. Not sure why they abandoned an approach that was set to have him out of the game after 6 innings.
[181] how can 2 hits account for 3 runs on their own?
the HR by Longoria and Crawford 3B accounted for three runs on their own.
Whoa.
Scoring in baseball is more complicated than I thought. I figured I understood it pretty well.
[176] yes that too
Good, good...nice quick inning for Kazmir here.
So Kazmir's ERA is north of 6, huh?
Could have fooled me...
[183] Confused about what? Do you disagree that the 162 grind makes baseball the most difficult sport to sustain excellence?
[186] Don't forget, Crawford is really, really fast.
[182] Is it used only for food that is not-kosher or does it apply to activities as well? Like something "haram" in Islam..could be pork, which is forbidden to ear, or could be some activity that is "haram"...
I used to know so many Yiddish words and now can't remember anything but my tuchus!
[186] [187] Because the triple knocked in a run and put a man on 3B with no outs. The HR speaks for itself. What's so hard to understand?
unacceptable inning there team
[136] what? when do the confessionals come if not now? hehe. Thanks Tokyo. Look forward to the report after the evening sports special! :)
[193] I think literally it's only for food, but it's often used figuratively. Just as "kosher" is, come to think of it. It has the strong connotation of "dirty" and "the unwholesome stuff those gentiles do, not for us".
[191] confused about the apparent optimism of [63]. i'm not sure about the 162 game grind making it more difficult- a 16 game schedule is difficult in its own way. but i do think baseball is tough. but it's tough for the sox and the rays too. next week they could still be 2.5 games (or more) up, even if they lose tonight.
[194] someone was on before the triple, thanks to a bloop single. the triple didn't score that run by itself.
[196] Not missing much, they're alwyas something ilke "Hi, I'm Akiko. I'm 24 and just started working at TaroJiro Corp. I love wearing office uniforms and heals"..etc etc etc Of course, I only read these to practice my reading comprehension in Japanese...
[199] Now it's not funny.
[198] I am probably one of a few here who thinks the Yankees will win 100 games, so I don't get your point about optimism. The point I was making about the 162 schedule is that even if you play extremely well for 30 games, you still have to play extremely well for the next 30. That's not really a statement of optimism or pessimism...it's the reality of the AL East and a reason that baseball is the best sport on the planet.
[199] The point was those three runs weren't aided by poor defense...they resulted largely from two very big hits that a pitcher like CC doesn't always yield.
wow ... that's one of the worst throws i've ever seen.
even from damon.
A one handed double b/c of Damon . grrrrrrrrrrr
Damon and Swisher are challenged to say the least.
[202] i was just making a joke about how it only took 3 or 4 innings for you to turn from a generally optimistic statement (feels weird to be losing even one game) to a generally pessimistic one (yanks could be down 2.5 by next week)
Mark Buerhle has a no hitter through 3 innings :)
[207] Ah...I didn't get the joke because I don't think either is optimistic or pessimistic...just statements of reality (or at least my reality).
[208] Holy shit.
I'm switching over.
[196] So Japanese office workers are World of Warcraft shaman and priests and paladins with their "heals" and love of same, OK Jazz?
: )
Now this is an example of potential run being largely the result of Damon's weak arm.
[200] Right...but I agree with what William is trying to say: CC has mostly made his own mess tonight--he walked guys in the second to set up a run on an out; he gave up a triple--this maybe was misplayed, but then he is looking at 2nd and 3rd with no outs; the HR was a bomb. He's been a little unlucky (as you note, there were some bloop hits), but the poor defense has not contributed much to the other team's scoring, as I saw it.
[203] ok but my point is that the triple and the hr by themselves only actually accounted for 1 run. a pitcher like cc can give up a hr, and he can give up a triple. sometimes a guy on 3rd doesn't score- and also it isn't cc's fault that the triple was to one of the fastest guys in the league. i don't mean to be making excuses for him, i just think he's done pretty well this game.
interesting play there- he looked out to me.
this is one of those just not quite right nights
He jumped too high. BOLLOCKS.
nevermind
Sabathia has to cover there...this is by far the worst effort this team has put forth in a while. They should not be losing this game by 4 runs.
[208] holy shit is right! still no blemishes!!!
just getting in...from teaching a Xylophone lesson!
what the FUCK is up with CC???? me no likey. i'm pretty well sure Boss Stein has a score truck for us in Tampa. we need a speedy delivery!!!
[213] Lots of time left for the bats to redeem the gloves..
Mark Melancon siting.
Teix's close but no cigar play at 1B leads me to a qustion:
On a force out, must the defensive player step on teh bag or tag it with the ball, or can he touch the bag with any part of his body? In other words, had Teix held the ball in his glove (left hand) on that play, but reached over and touched the bag with his bare hand (right hand), is the runner out?
[222] Any part of his body on a force.
[221] in case of disasterbacle, break glass and apply Melancon ...
Eff you Swisher. What a joke.
Jesus Christ
Swisher not winning a GG any time soon.
wow, another bad play for SwishEr
The Yankees need another outfielder...the camel's back is nearing a straw.
i didn't think clusterfucks were gradual - but this one has been
Mr. OK, I'm going to be near (in?) your time zone soon. But I'll only speak English...
fuck and shit.
wow ... dogshit game almost all around.
Did someone say clusterfuck?
Wow Spanky McSkittles...
Yesterday's Home Runs don't win today's ballgames, do they?
Screw this game...Tokyo...send us a link to some of those confessionals.
Nick Swisher fucking sucks my ass.
I must recommend to all of you switching to watch the White Sox.
Seriously.
Jesus Christ...it's a highlight reel for Swisher tonight. Cue circus pipe organ music: http://tinyurl.com/m2oqjo
37 straight batters retired by Buehrle ... 4 short of the record.
I hope these guys had fun at Alex's b-day bash night last night. b double o to taking a night off.
This could get ugly...if Melancon has anyhting, I'll be impressed.
[222] great question. i think [223] must be right since a foot suffices, but the rules don't specify: [a batter is out if] "After a third strike or after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base;" (6.05(j))
[231] Follow the trail and and get in touch..BxBanter: Asia Division only has two members so far..you're welcome to join us at Jingu Stadium for a Yakult Swaloows game
Girardi, you magnificent bastard, you KNEW all along that Melancon's turn was coming up!
I'm out here barbecuing in the dark, listening on the radio. Ran inside to see about this misplay of Swisher.
I'm sorry, that's inexcusable. It's like his head was up his ass.
I say again, I'd rather see Bernie back in centerfield than Nick Swisher.
[246]
Didn't Springsteen have a hit with that .... BBQing in the Dark ...
[236] All in Japanese! Acknowledging the apalling sexism of shows like this, and not approving at all...here's a link for you. http://www.japantoday.com/category/entertainment/view/miniskirt-police-release-dvd-and-announce-return-of-late-night-tv-show
there's a similar show for the female audience, to be fair.
[243] yes- rule 2.00 (definitions): "A TAG is the action of a fielder in touching a base with his body while holding the ball securely and firmly in his hand or glove; or touching a runner with the ball, or with his
hand or glove holding the ball, while holding the ball securely and firmly in his hand or glove."
[244] et al..
What number psot is this?
I ask because almost everyone's post that refers to someone else's [###] appears to be off by one. Do I have some weird browser issue?
[251] "...post..."
[247] Don't try to allay my rage with jokes. I don't know if maybe you're on Nick Swisher's payroll as his personal advocate, but it won't work.
I want his head on a plate.
I'll throw it right on my grill and eat it live.
Or maybe turn it into a drinking cup.
monkeypants, the post where you asked the question was 250
[244] Ah, no, I tried to make it clear by saying I'd be speaking English. I'll be in Sydney.
Ok fine...nothing is going right in this game.
[253] Jeez, you blew a chance to mess with monkeypants. I was still thinking of how to do it.
[256] yeah i'm just ruining everything for you tonight
You know what, though?
We're going to come back and win this motherfucker.
Seven outs to get five runs. We can do it.
Always look on the bright side of death.
[254] Weird...on my page it's [251], which is throwing all of the comments off. Do you guys have a comment by PJ at [32], which is showing up on my screen as only:
I wonder if that is what's messing up the thread on my computer.
live at the barbecue is a great hip-hop song
[252] lord swisher and the yanks have turned weeping into a cannibal
[252] I'd settle for it on a pike! It allows it to serve as a warning to others...
: )
[254] Ah, got ya. No baseball in Sydney...
One loss to a good team like the Rays, nothing to fret about. We'll get 'em tomorrow!
[259] PJ just likes doing that.
White Sox game still verrrrry interesting.
[259] i have pj's 32- it wasn't 134'd. no idea why you have an extra post
[259] yeah i got that comment
since this game sucks, i play detective with you - when did you start noticing the comment numbers off? - we can try to narrow it from there.
Buehrle has made it to 41 straight retired ...
[259] PJ does that a lot. it's his calling card! : )
[260] Because there's no excuse for poor defense. It's one thing to be mediocre at the major league level, it's another to suck.
Didn't this guy ever have coaches growing up?
Did they just let this sort of thing slide because he hit .540 in high school?
42 ...
New record for Buerhle...and Konerko had to make a great scoop.
New record for Buehrle!
Buerhle has the record!
[259] It's not a hack, MP. It's my way of commenting that the Yankees failed to do anything offensively in that half frame.
: )
9+5 perfect innings for Buerhle
Buehrle!!!!!!!!
[264] (or [263]??) Well, whatever it is, I somehow have an extra comment that no one else is seeing. It's really the only interesting left tonight.
I love the miniskirt police.
MP, If you have a comment "in moderation"then that will put the numbers off by one for you only..happened to me the other day.
who had the record before? was it 41 straight?
was it Floyd Youmans ?!?!?! ; )
[268] the unfortunate thing is, if you haven't seen the whole game there was even more bullshit plays from him tonight - for sure another 1 and maybe 2
Buehrle in mid-game interview: I am not a matcheen.
[276] Wait, so we have to try to find out which comment you can see and nobody else can! This is imperative!
Or else you've got a missing number somewhere.
hey melancon was ready to go tonight
Great inning for Melancon...if it means he gets to stay and Albaledejo goes, at least this game wasn't a total loss.
man, wouldn't that be insane if Buerhle went another 9 perfect innings ... AND ... the Sox didn't score and he got Haddix'd in the 10th.
and hey, look, the world didn't implode when Melancon got to pitch.
[279 or so] Comment in moderation--aha. I'm not sure if I do...perhaps one that I posted quickly. That must be it.
How did Russ Salzberg get a job in TV?
great job by channel 9 on the update not mentioning buehrle at all
[282] Perhaps monkeypants can "see" things..is he the first Banter "Hero"? (Sorry, the lady and I just finished the first season of "Heroes"..surprisingly, I loved it)
[279] a couple of relievers i believe, including his teammate, Jenks
Remember, monkeypants, always comment in moderation.

[277] DVDs now available!
The Yankee offense seemingly came to halt around the time Matsui was nabbed.
This has definitely been a game of some bad breaks.
[290] ah yeah, that's right! thanks, man!
Wow..Swisher stopped at 1B.
[288] Who knew they did such fine work?
LOL
OK, comments section is messing with my mind..this game sucks...socks winning on teh other channel. I'm out of here for a walk and ice cream. MMMMMMM...ice cream.
huh, i'm surpised Kaz is still in...
[295] longest single in the world
heh ... well, at least the obvious (swisher compounding his confounding and getting thrown out at 2nd) didn't happen there
it says something that the thought crossed my mind though.
anyway, nice to hear the crowd get loud for Kazmir there, I guess there are actual Rays fans ...
[292] Damn...Netflix doesn't have any copies.
I'm listening to the Chicago guys. On the one hand, it only seems right. On the other, oh my god.
Oh, Dye just hit a homer, and it's positively excruciating. I would rather listen to John Sterling in one ear and Joe Castiglione in the other than hear Hawk.
Pale Hose on the board - Dye solo shot.
[302] Very funny...could you imagine all three in the same booth? I think it would explode due to the sheer size of the combined egos mixed with all that hot air.
why are you even bothering to show bunt there melky?
If the Yankees can get a few hits...
everybody deserves to lose their hittng streaks tonite
well, except Teix ... he's done all he could ...
[303] Jermaine Dye..traded from KC for...Neifi Perez! http://www.instantrimshot.com
[302] There are no words for the horridity of Hawk..
[301] Follow the trail williamnyy23..you could be rewarded!
If this is a replay of last night's AB, Jeter gets a single through the 1B hole.
[289] quit while you're ahead, it's downhill fast after season 1
[306] big if...
i'll settle for Oaktown coming back and Buehrle doing the UNpossible...
[308] What is "follow the trail"? It sounds like some taoist thing.
The Yanks have more bad defensive plays then hits.
Maybe that's why they're losing?
Every starter but CC should get a pie in the face (and of stingy stuff).
I wonder if the Gardenhire would order his hitters NOT to bunt.
5.1 innings for Buehrle
re this chase commercial: would it be socially UNACCEPTABLE to just say "cash only? that's whack. let me run over to the atm i'll be back in 1 minute"?
5.2 innings
man, Buerhle is fun to watch.
get the ball and throw strikes.
I guess the Yanks just don't play defense for CC.
somebody tell me when we get to the top of the 9th. I'm watching the White Sox game.
wow .... this is the anniversary of two other perfect games ...
Hawk now making horrid Beatles references ...
I'm done with this game and watching "The Miniskirt Police vs Baywatch. Battle of the Buns". Udderly fantastic.
aaahhhbhh a walk
walk by Buhrle
Walk. No perfection.
FUCK.
No more perfecto...walk after being ahead 0-2.
45 consecutive batters retired ... a new MLB record
[322] http://www.heavethehawk.com love that Nehru jacket!
nooooo.
buehrle walked a guy. damnit!!!!
and a hit
Perfect game gone, no hitter gone...
now a hit. crap.
Okay, I guess I'm done with baseball for the evening. See youse!
[333] Hawk?
Shutout gone.
Sounds like Buerhle lost his momentum!
posednik did a swisheroo on a slicing flyball
[339] Swisheroo is the perfect way to refer to a misplay.
I like that AB Johnny!
Johnny walks to start the rally! Let's go Yankees!
I don't like that AB Mark :(
From White Sox Banter
Guillen should have pullled Buerhle after the walk. He was obviously spent after retiring so many hitters in a row. Now they're on the verge of losing to the pathetic Twins. Another example of how a manager can cost his team the game. : D
Crappy game all around...hopefully the good Joba shows up tomorrow. Winning this series would be big.
Mark Buehrle, like Algernon, returns to his more normal pattern of behavior ...
[344] Cute...albeit it a very distorted analogy.
[346] So, no flowers for Buerhle after the game?
Damn it...just realized the Yankees will get Buerhle on Sunday.
Damn that DP Teix!
mini little score truck.
[349] he might get shelled...
Good to see them go down with a fight.
[351] matsui always clutch!
thelarmis, Max Roach quartet Live in Tokyo on vinyl last night, from mid-70s.
Swisher kicking that ball around the right field line like a tee-ball player made me so mad.
We'll get em tomorrow.
[353] nice man!
at least Melancon got in and pitched very well.
that has to be good for his confidence.
now, if Joey Joe Joe noticed, that would be helpful too.
Crapfest game tonight!
CC sucked, defense was worse!
Unacceptable!
G'night folks.
A's got one back against Papelbon..man on 2nd, two out..down by two, can they do it??
Single and an error, now down by only 1! tying run on 2nd..can they do it??!
they tied it!! Go-Go A's!!
CMW to have rotator cuff surgery tomorrow.
[266] or [267]
I found the post--it is one of mine, waiting moderation, #36 on my thread.
[362] scratch that, labrum surgery.
[318] Hey, whatever with him, we got our own "get the ball and throw strikes" guy (aside from Mo, of course), and his name is Phil "the stud" Hughes!
