Video insinuates Twins stole
DETROIT -- The Minnesota Twins reacted with a mix of anger and amusement to an Internet video that suggests catcher and MVP candidate Joe Mauer was stealing signs from second base in Tuesday's game against Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers.
OldSpin
"Just wow!" said Mauer. "Sure, I know stealing signs is as old as baseball itself" Mauer explained. "And sure... that game may have been the difference between making the Post Season or not. But that video camera in my cap was just for momentos, when I want to look back at seasons where we just fell short" Mauer added. "I mean... when I'm stealing signs... I mean IF I would ever steal signs... which I WOULD NOT... I would go to my cup. If you see me fiddling with my cup, THEN you can accuse me of stealing signs."
"I'm really insulted" he exclaimed. "You want to talk about stealing? How about Morneau getting MVP that year, or maybe Jeter getting it this year. Now that's stealing!"
"I'm really insulted... about that sign stealing stuff too"
Got cha "uptown flavor" right here.
Co-worker of mine just brought me back a couple of handrolled cigars from Arthur Ave. 3 milds for $11, or as I explain to the wife, the price of a haircut.
[1] you see Russia from your truck with the ice scraper? where are you at? I'm over 1000 feet elevation in NW NJ and my oil burner kicked on overnight - but no sign of frost yet.
The Twins have been accused of unfair play in one way or another. You would think if that were the case, that they'd be doing a lot better than they have?
The only thing I was suprised about with the Mauer incident was the lack of subtlety. Geez, look left for curbeball and look down for a fastball. Something other than a blatant touch of the ear flap. He may as well held up the peace sign for curve and flcked off Verlander for fastball. : D
[6] But still alive.
We need two Twins wins and a Tigger loss (or, less likely, two Tiger losses and one Twinwinwinwin) over the next couple of days to be sure the scheduled Verlander start actually takes place.
I had to use the ice scraper on my truck this morning. October 1 is a new, earliest record for me.
