The Yanks have given us a wonderful season so far. It’s been as good as any in recent memory, really it has. Tonight gives the biggest game of the year, the first truly big game at the new Yankee Stadium. Here’s Cliff’s take, leftover from yesterday.
As you know, I’m generally a nervous fan, but after the Yanks lost Game Five I felt confident that they’d come back and close the Angels out in Game Six. Then there was an extra day off and now the butterflies have taken over and I’m Shook Bird like so:
I don’t remember the last time I felt this anxious.
I still say the Yanks find a way to win this series because I don’t want to fathom them not winning. As bad as things felt in 2004 I wasn’t surprised by it. The Red Sox were due. That they won in dramatic fashion made some kind of cosmic sense. I get that. But now, this is the Yankees’ time. Course the Angels won’t go out like chumps but it’s time for Good Andy and the Bombers to flex and be:
FRESH for 2009, you suckas!
Let’s Go Yan-Kees!
Here we go!!! Too long of a wait but we made it to Game 6, finally!!
FUCK EM UP FELLAS!
The Yankees need to jump all over Saunders early.
I actually felt better this afternoon than yesterday afternoon, but the nerves are coming. I may watch this with the sound down.
I really can't remember the last time I felt this nervous. I've been curled up on the couch, increasingly unable to distract myself. Got a huge pit in my stomach.
LOL
Me too, re: nerves.
[5] I am in the same boat...I think part of the reason is because it's been a few years, but for me, I really don't want to spend years cringing at the thought of the some the managerial moves. I still wake up in the middle of the night wondering why Torre didn't bunt on Schilling or send the runners with Varitek catching Wakefield or bring in Mo after Gordon gave up the home run, etc.
I promised my wife I would remain calm, cool, and collected. We'll see how long THAT lasts. All this angst has taken a lot out of me this weekend. Oy! GO YANKEES!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyzB36pm1yU&feature=related
[8] It has cast a pall over my weekend. Had they won this Thursday, it would have been a weekend of complete bliss, but alas.
so all the suckers that wanna test
it's time to get
NERVOUS
but i'm going with :
i don't have no fears homeboy
Cone wants to stick with Joba and Hughes.
Hughes, yes, with some trepidation, but I don't know what Joba can give us.
I was actually productive last night, went to the mall and Penney's was having a sale on pants, about 33% off so I picked up three pair. Then home and the annual Halloween-tyme Sleepy Hollow viewing.
For some reason, I'm not that nervous tonight.
[11] maybe coney gave them a pep talk in the pen
[11] You have to stick with Hughes...but you need to protect him as much as possible. Still, other than Mariano, obviously, he remains the guy in whom I have the most confidence.
[8] Heh heh.
[11] Joba can give a collective ulcer.
Every Yankee fan and myself included is nervous as all heck about the game. I hope that the crowd doesn't have that nervous energy and I REALLY hope the players are loose and ready to go. Me I am so tight I've put on CBS three times before finally getting FOX on... LOL.
thank goodnes fox is getting to show the "ot" right now instead of starting alcs now
[14] i'm glad someone does - i have to admit i don't - i'm not sure if it is mechanical or trying to be too precise or what but have been nervous about him since the alds
JUST START THE FUCKING GAME ALREADY!!
(I can't take it.)
This is the kind of game that I wish I could wake up in the top of the 2nd inning, turn on the TV and see the Yankees are up 6-0.
Isn't this supposed to be fun?
I'm a mess
[20] Don't say that. Remember that Oakland Game 5 (2000, was is?) when we did indeed have such a lead but Andy couldn't hold it? But we hung on to win anyway, courtesy, iirc, Stanton and Nelson. Or maybe just Stanton? Can't remember.
I'm kinda hoping for a first inning A-Rod grand slam.
I hate Mark Grace
We're toast. Marc Grace just said Andy Pettitte is terrible in his TWO game 6 starts with his team leading 3-2. START THE FUCKING GAME!!!!
team - fuck these fox clowns, brighten up - bernie should be throwing out the first pitch any minute
These clowns on Fox are making me want to throw things at the television.
[27] :)
[28] I may put the Japanese announcers on..FOX gives me a migraine..
I'm not all that nervous, but if they lose tonight, I'll be in an awful mood tomorrow and a wreck during Game Seven.
I'm excited! I think you guys should be thankful you aren't Angels fans. I'd be more nervous if my team was down 2-3 and playing in Yankee stadium against Pettitte and C.C.
I'm watching History Channel until 8:20. Just trying to protect what's left of my sanity. MLB is stupid to wait until 8:20 pm for the game. A 4 pm start would have made the most sense.
[32] Perspective, merschmective.
[33] can't do it, fox's NFL contract
i think i have decided that timmy is finishing his hot dog and beer while joe gets things going
and fuck fox for not showing us bernie
I actually don't envy you guys & gals having to stay up late for the inevitable 4.5 hour game.
I'm finding bliss with the thought that this really has been a great season. I've grown to love this team again everything about them, really.
If it helps, the MLB network has a better pre-game and now they're showing highlights from 1998.
But I'm nervous as fuck right now too.
I fucking LOVE baseball!
i'm shitting a brick...
I need a Valium the size of a hockey puck right now
56 degrees and clear...almost normal baseball eather.
I am strangely calm.
Goo Yanks.
Fellow Yankees fans, I heard somewhere that it is, indeed, on. Is there any truth to this rumor?
[42] Baseball weather or baseball ether?
Either way, calm.
[23] I remember that as if it was yesterday. Tino had the huge hit and they went up 6-0, but really did have to hold on for dear life.
[42] Goo? :0
I'm way too sick to care as much as I normally do. I can barely breathe and yet I'm here.
Go Yankees!
[41] It's all about the weed. Add that to a beer or two and I'm all good.
[23, 45] big part of that game was Terrence Long losing a ball in the sun in that first inning...also Justice with a big insurace homer late
Great to see more empty seats at the biggest game of the year,..
[49] Yep...and of course Mariano to close it out!
here
we
GO
My heart is literally beating as if I just ran up and down the stairs 10 times.
Oh no..it's Sutcliffe here again, not FOX...
well weeping, ragin, and thelarmis have jumped out to an early most nervous lead (entirely appropriate given their monikers) - felix holt is making a big charge too
That's good.
26 more of those please!
[50] Ah, October baseball in the not so big ballpark in the Bronx.
[55] I'm not nervous, just flu-struck.
[57] Well, we have to get at least 26 more...the key is with no runs in between!
Hey folks.... whatcha all doin' tonight?
[59] oh sorry - misinterpreted what you wrote - feel better
Andy is looking sharp so far...nice, tight breaking pitches. Let's hope for a quick six or seven innings and then close it out.
[61] not talking about next season :}
[60] I like your thinking!
YES!
Good, Andy, good.
looking goo andrew eugene
i liked that!
Somewhere Tom Gordon is throwing up. That's 2.
Strike one.
big strike zone tonight
that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard timmay say. and that's sayin' something!
[61] So how bout that baloon family..wild, wacky stuff!
This post season is neck and neck with 1996 for the most anxious. The least anxious was 1999. For whatever reason, I felt supremely confident throughout that post season.
0-2...
What did Timmy just say ?!?!?!?
I heart Andy. : D
Nice.
Now, Score Truck.
[69] that's awesome!
GREAT start !!!
early runs, please!!!
what the hell kind of "key to the game" for the Angels was that??
nice work Andy
[69] fuck tom gordon - stop bringing up ghosts of post season failures past :}
good going andy - good to shut them down in the 1st
[62] Thank you! I'd like to see at the very least another Yankees LCS victory before I die.
[74] perhaps because they were 10 times better than any other team on the field. or because they only lost 1 game and it was against pedro.
but i think you're forgetting about 2001.
[55] Heh heh.
[81] Yes m'aam! : )
[81] Let's strike his name for the record...I really hate it when the player looks more nervous than I am (said with a side glance at Nick Swisher).
[74] 11-1 will do that to ya.
But I agree, that always goes down as kinda the "forgotten championship" for me. Not that I have overlooked it, but '96 was the first...'98 was the 125 wins...'00 was the subway series. '99 was just a really good solid team that beat 3 teams they were way better than.
In all honesty the biggest thrills of that postseason, just purely as a baseball fan, was the Mets/Braves NLCS
[82] This is the best I've felt in literally 3 weeks, to the day. Dunno if it was the flu or what.
Now let's get some runs.
[82] just come back from glasgow - you'll get to see it
[83] Forgetting about 2001 in what way? The 1998 team was great too, but there was the pressure of not letting the 114 win season go to waste. 1999 was not only a great team, but it almost seemed like house money.
All right, here we go, Derek.
"I still say the Yanks find a way to win this series because I don’t want to fathom them not winning."
------------------------------
This is soooo true and what makes being a Yankees fan so tough.
We have no choice. Just one option. We just can't lose.
It's like an innocent person being tried in court.
You can't win because even if you do win...
You just break even.
HOSS!
HOSS!
Man up Dude!
Last game before the WS!!!
COME OOOOOOOON DOOOOOOOOWN!
[87] I always felt that the '99 team was better on paper than the '98 team. I knew they wouldn't win more games, but that was a real, real deep team in '99.
I'd love some early runs!
[87] i actually enjoyed 99 more than 98. nothing can top 96, but that 99 team was insanely good. they didn't win as many games as the year before, but i actually thought they were better. plus i was at the chad curtis game (game 3 of the world series).
[92] after last game there is no way hoss is joining the circus
[93] Also, the Indians team they faced seemed more dangerous than any of their 1999 opponents.
Dang, just missed it.
[95] Hey, we agree [93] on baseball again!!
Man, that was much closer than anyone would have thought.
[95] I was at the game 4 clincher, which was definitely nice.
Dammit...where the hell is that Score Truck?
Pettitte's postseason #s are amazingly like his career numbers.
Career - .629 WP, 3.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP
Postseason - .625 WP, 3.90 ERA, 1.33 WHIP
Secondary #s like HR/9, SO/9, BB/9 are also close. Pettitte's got a belly full of guts in the postseason. My opinion is those guts perform similar to his April to September guts.
Hey guys, we're not here to talk about the past..2009 trumps the 99 team! :)
cmon Tex, get on for A-Rod!
[89] Clever, clever.
[90] forgetting the anxiety of it. not just the crazy world series, but going down 0-2 to the athletics (although actually i was still confident then) and mussina and the flip play.
let's go tex - take advantage of batting rh
Nice, Teix. Nice.
I'll take that.
Yay Teix. Keep the line moving Alex.
A boom-boom here would really be nice.
[99] haha of course
Yes!
Alex.
there we go -nice swings boys
[106] I think with 9/11 and the team coming off 3 straight, there was a lot less edge in 2001. I can also still look back on that outcome of that series without regret. I kind of look at it is the series the Yankees won 3 games to 4. The two walkoffs almost trumped winning the whole thing in terms of memories made.
That was a putt-putt, not a boom-boom... but I'll take it.
Come on, Jorgie!
OK, Jorge...reward Girardi's decision to move you up in the lineup!
Beauty of a swing. Juice one Jorge.
Basecloggers!
Good!
We're laying off that junk.
'01 was a helluva ride, no matter what happend in that game 7
plus, had they won Enrique Wilson would've been on that plane that crashed in Queens
Dammit.
bah
Oh, damn it, Jorge.
Nerts.
First 2 out bed shitter. : (
Oh fer christs sake..first inning no runs and ALREADY "OB" is talking about 2004 getting in the Yankees head...i can't take these awful announcers anymore!!!!
So much for the early lead...that was a pretty bad AB by Matsui. I wonder how wise it is to allow Saunders to face three straight righties like that. Sometimes throwing a lefty into mix can make things more difficult.
That was an early missed opportunity...not the best way to calm the nerves.
[115] i was pretty damn nervous. i just remember having to pee like every half inning in those extra inning games.
[129] Bad AB by Posada, I meant.
[129] Jorge.
[131] They'll feed him a steady diet of junk all night long, now. Let's hope he can lay off.
[130] The worst game in terms of nerves was game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. I think I wanted that one as bad as any other. That game was so intense that during it I couldn't imagine how I'd make it through it. If they don't win tonight, I think tomorrow will be like that.
Fucking A, look at Derek!
So, Vlad only hits 97 hoppers up the middle now?
NICE!!
oh what a fucking idiot
HA!!!!
FOOL!!!!
good play swish!
NICE!
SWISH!!!!
Oh Vlad,,,thank you for the gift!
Hey, not pastadivingjeter. Even if it was a hit.
Swish!
That's a nice early break.
That was just really stupid.
that was awful by vladdy
I was thinking "dp here"
I wasn't expecting it like THAT, but I'll take it
Those heady, aggressive, fundamentally sound Angels.
.
.
.
And, by the way, nice defense by Swish!
FUcking AWESOME. Eat Shit Scioscia.
Hendrick is going to be a key in this game...the Yankees have to really bear down with him.
[134] good point, that game was tense as hell. but i also don't remember ever being so happy from one baseball game.
[150] Seriously..never want to hear about the Angels "playing the right way" again..they've been Little League awful on the bases this series
I found 2001 more crushing than any other year.
There were so many people rooting for us that year that usually rooted against the Yankees. People who had moved to NY years before but hated the Yanks changed their minds and accepted their status as New Yorkers that year. Plus it was such a close series.
andy please don't walk these losers
[151] kendrick. you really are nervous, huh?
Grrrrr...
[152] Yep...when it was over, it was like surviving a near death experience.
It's funny....three of my top moments came in seasons in which they didn't win the World Series (the two 2001 WS walkoffs and the Boone game).
2 out walk. D'oh!! C'mon, Andy. One more out.
[154] i agree that it was the most crushing, but mostly because it was mo on the mound and he threw the ball away. and because it seemed inevitable (and only fair) that they'd win after the brosius hr.
[156] Kendrick kills the Yankees and has been excellent since the All Star Break, especially against lefties.
[158] I was in London that year, it was about 5am when Boone hit that homer..I was beyond delirious, thought i was dreaming!
Please concentrate here Andy.
2001 was tough because we had a much better team. They had 2 aces, a super juiced OFer and who? That series really showed how important pitching is in the PS, and the D-Backs had little else.
Oh, come on, Andy.
Come on.
[162] I was in London for September of 2000...flew back to NY for the post season...and then returned to London for another 3 weeks.
there you go andy
Well done, Andy, well done.
[162] The only time our neighbor had to bang on our wall because the wife and I were going crazy. There it is.
Andy pointing and Swisher and saying: YOU!
[169] wow, you don't get an allowance after one of the most exciting games of all time? they must have been mets fans.
night of the Boone game I was in my dorm room, my roomate (dyed in the wool Sox fan from northern CT) was watching the game at our next door neighbor's place.
when Boone went deep we all ran over to the wall and started pounding on it like we were gonna break the thing down. oh memories.
Frank Langella just isn't scary.
Runs, please.
[173] thats Skeletor you're talking about
Oh, Hideki, THAT was fucking horseshit.
I was kind of banking on Saunders being erratic.
when did joe saunders become whitey ford to all the announcers? all i hear is joe saunders, joe saunders. give me a break, we're about to pound him.
let's go frosty
[178] Blame the Yankees for that.
I really don't like how many fastballs low and away Robbie is taking.
That's his wheelhouse.
Damn, nice hit.
Those were some quick hands.
I don't know how he got to that.
[180] but leading up to the game too.
that'll do cano - now follow-up the good outfiled play with a good ab swishy
I wish the crowd would have given Swisher a standing ovation.
Good job Robbie. Let's go Nick.
That's my Robbie. I hope Swish was drinking Diet Red Bulls alll day. Relax, Dude.
[183] Goes back to how he pitched in game 2.
Good, Swish, good.
Green light him here, let him bust out.
[183] [188] they also love to hype up random people - remember big game james shileds last year?
Swish looking for the green light?
Damn it.
He completely missed a pitch right down the middle.
Right down the gd middle, Swish.
timmy how many fucking yankee games do you need to see before you realize robbie almost NEVER goes
[175] Really? Is there really a He-Man movie?
Fuck.
He's worthless up there.
Fuck.
oy fuckin vey
At least he took a good aggressive swing, but it's getting way too late for moral victories.
Looked like a decent swing at least. Just trying to stay positive with Nick.
oh nicky - not quite what we were all looking for
Stay hot, Melky. Knock your buddy home.
[196] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093507/
oh no - snoop is snoop no more
The Yankees are really letting Saunders off the hook in these first two innings.
No more Snoop. : (
Line dribble hit!
Oh!
Fuck, just squeaked through.
Come on, Derek.
Do this
hahaha
c'mon derek - get these runs in
C & C Hit Factory!
This has all the makings of a classic. It just feels that way.
Turn on it, Derek.
Turn on that motherfucker.
get the party started Jete
[206] we can still call him that though, no?
2-0...
Jesus, they replayed Jeter's 2-run homer and I turned my head and thought he hit it out. Bastards.
[217] homer from game 2... I'm out of it.
3-0...
i'd give him the green light
Real big strike zone tonight.
this ump has a huge zone
[215] Damn Straight. That was ball 4.
ball fuckiing 4
Hoo. That was close.
[203] You got me. Skeletor is fucking scary.
Then again, wasn't Dolph Lundgren He-Man? He's not scary.
Hmmmmm.
Damon: Game 7, 2004. Remember?
please come thru Johnny!!!
lets get Damonic here
C'MON JOHNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't take much more of this!
Come on, Damon. Come on...
c'mon jd - pressure is on saunders here
Yeah, Skeletor is scary. Just deeply, he disturbs me. Like a certain memory of Damon...
Fuck, nice pitch.
FUCK
AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
fuckin a
total fucking bollocks.
that was weak
god fucking fuck
2nd 2 out bed shitter. God fucking damnit.
5 runners left on base already...two really bad swings with men on base...this is not going well.
Frakkity. 5 LOBs in 2 innings? Unacceptable.
5 baserunners through 2 is not bad though. saunders won't escape every inning.
Wow, this offense blows chunks.
Every chance that let get away makes the specter of that 7th inning debacle grow larger...I want to slay that damn thing already.
[244] my thinking too
Saunders stinks, no way he goes 6. Stay confident, people! Gotta go, laptop being hijacked by Barney now...
Hey it's Joe "Ted Williams" Mathis. Bastard.
WTF is up w/ Mathis???
god dammit!!!
fucking seriously??
Great...now the Angels will small ball a damn run and this offense will get even tighter.
saunders is already at 38 pitches
i cannot even believe this jeff fucking mathis
[249] You typed that BEFORE his double. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
number one - i hate that mf mathis with a passion.
number 2 - saunders with 38 pitches through 2.
[253] I more worried about the hitters than who is pitching to them.
Who is responsible for scouting Mathis?
squirting
strike him out.
throw it an inch higher
Fuck, he's running up Andy's pitchcount, little fucker.
or that
thank you!
Atta boy, Andy, atta boy!!
siddown snoop
(notice how much he had choked up)
I hope all your annoying powers are lying on the barber's floor Snoop.
Great pitch, Andy.
timmay said "bad ball" when it was a strike.
i really hate these fox assholes
wait a minute, are we saying Aybar reminds us of Felicia "Snoop" Pearson??
[269] when he had his dreads - yeah
Fuckin A, Robbie!
YES!!
good play robbie!!
good play
1 more Andy
That's my Robbie.
Make him look stupid, Andy.
fucking hell
Agggh, motherfucker.
fuck it - damn you bobby
Frakkity!
Huge hit by Abreu...the same hit the Yankees can't get. This game has now passed excruciating.
terrible pitch - there have been some awful pitches that the angels have jumped on this series
[281] They've made terrible pitches too...the difference is only Arod and Jeter seem able to hit them.
This AB feels very scary.
Breaking stuff down and in, Andy.
NICE
ok boys, lets get it back
Oh my God.
We dodged a bullet there.
i am not a happy camper
One run is nothing.
nice pitch - good to come right back and get the 3rd out
Alright. 1 run. BFD. Now let's knock Saunders around some more. This time with some freakin' runs
do we know of any Banterers at the game?!
good time for Tex to snap out of it
damn, that was close
c'mon A-Rod!!!
Damn it, Teix.
Damn it.
do it up big alex
Love them check swing 6-3's.
This game has such a bad aura.
no replay?
Steve Philips got canned.
[299] shocker...
Why take that!
[298] i know, that was weird.
[299] oh, good.
Good job, Alex.
well at least Big Blue is taking advantage of THEIR opportunities tonight
[299] what a tool
bring in Guzman!!!
I think I've officially trained my dog to hide in the spare room at the sound of Buck and McCarver's voice.
Let's go Posada!!
send him?
Good, Alex, keep dancing over there.
get in his head alex
fuckin' Rudy
Posada needs a big hit or two...
I think Phillips just got suspended for boffing a 22 year old intern who turned out to make Glenn Close's Fatal Attraction look like kids play.
FUCK me!
FUUUUUUUUUCK
fuckity fuck fuck
since when does the wall not scare him? : /
FUCKING Abreu picks now to crash into the wall. Mother fucker.
For FUCK'S SAKE!!
Abreu bangs into the wall.
The end of the world is upon us.
Missed it by that much. We're getting closer on Saunders.
Good news on Philips.
Can the Yankees get one positive sign!?
Why give A-Rod the take sign on 3-0? In this case, a walk is NOT as good as a hit..
i hate the fact that we're losing this game.
stfu timmy - you don't know shit
I'm going to be ill.
6
fucking 6
b double o
I can't believe how feeble this team has come out.
saunders at 53 pitches
That 7th inning grows even larger...
[324] I doubt he had a take sign. I think he was looking for something inside.
well, this is exasperatin' so far.
Evening folks ....
[334] hmmm, you've been gone for a bit, by chance did you have the score truck with you?
i'm plotzing
Jeff Mathis..really..I can take losing to Vlad or Hunter or Bobby...but Jef mathis again???
Oh well, lots of time, Saunders is toast!
I feel like the Yanks have actually played better tonight than the Halos. They've just been unlucky, and it hasn't translated into runs.
HI Diane.
[339] That's been the case all series...which is why it is very disturbing that this series is 3-2 and possibly headed toward game 7. Eventually, the Angels will play better.
[336] I wish I knew where it was!
Unfortunately, I have a big presentation tomorrow, so I have to put together the lecture and ppt tonight, in between getting frustrated at the lack of base hits with two outs.
nice.
siddown vladi
NICE pitch, Andy.
Nice pitch.
siddown vladdy
THROW HIM OUT!!
toss him the fuck out! how many times can the angels get away with that shit?
That was right on the black.
I'm down with the consipiracy theory on Teix's ground out last inning. Where's the gd replay?
Let's go Andy!!!Let's go.
Please no Girardi, FOX...the last thing we need to do is be reminded of why this series is still being played.
58 LOB this series
ugh
stfu with this bullshit
If they show Scioscia talking with the home plate ump between innings I'll expode. YES ANDY!!
NICE inning Andy!
NICE BABY
ok boys...runs now...PLEASE!!!!
I hope these hitters are not as tight as Girardi just sounded.
way - to go andy - looking pretty damn sharp
Andy's a golden god.
Okay. Now lets hit fucking Joe Saunders now
Golden God?
[359] Jinx ;-)
I will have a hard time accepting that Andy will lose on one hiccup inning. Score Truck should arrive this inning, and I predict Swisher will be at the wheel.
[351] i suppose you don't want to see hughes in this game then
Nice bounce-back inning for Andy.
Now, let's get it fucking cookin with the bats! Enough of this unholy horseshit!
Yeah, where's that damn SCORE TRUCK?
What about a black taco sound appetizing, exactly?
[362] :)
[357] I don't think he sounded tight at all, I was honestly pretty struck by how confident he sounded.
if anything Buck sounded tight
one of my students just sent me a "let's go yankees" text! i thought that was nice : )
[364] Depends on the options, if it's AJ, well, we've discussed that already.
[363] From your lips...
[349] Same.
[369] Saying that the team was excited to be playing game 6 instead of preparing for the World Series sounded very forced.
Crowd seems a bit subdued..have to say the fans in Philly were impressive with all the noise from first pitch on.
Cmon Score Truck!!
Look low and away, Robbie.
[375] The respective confidence levels likely accounted for the difference.
Hello everybody - took me a while to catch up on the comments, but here I am.
I'm thinking Saunders is going to run out of gas pretty soon.
These batters are flat out missing fat pitches.
Hey, Shaun.
[374] he's not going to say they blew it - i personally don't give a shit what he says in those stupid interviews - i would almost prefer he read the wb mason promo in response to buck's idiotic questions
mccarver already hyping "jroll"
[374] I can only imagine what that man would look like in a game seven.
Why is Robbie looking to pull?
[381] I'd rather not see his face or hear his voice for the rest of the series myself.
[378] hi shaun - me too
They showed Jeter in the dugout awhile back, and he was chewing his finger. I don't think I've ever seen him look so nervous.
robbie with a leadoff walk!
First Abreu's wall scraping and now this. Holy Fucking Hell.
[382] I know, wtf?
Time for Swish to break out
Has Swisher hit a ball hard all series?
[385] that would be fine by me too
that'll do
Mercifully.
Okay. Now please score.
YES. Bunt Melky.
MUST
BREAK
THROUGH
there you go nicky baby
and fuck off wp
good on ya, Swish!
Ug. 1st and 2nd, no out. WE'RE DEAD!
Yankees have to win the game now, with a Swish single.
That JROLLLLLLLED through the infield ...
No fucking sacrifice.
I'll take a sac bunt here
Okay Derek. At leas hit it in the air.
I don't like that.
Yeah, I would have bunted Melky too. Let's hope it pays off.
Incredible...absolutely incredible.
c'mon Captain Derek!!!
they should walk jeter for sure
lets please not get into a bunt debate, I don't have the energy
Somewhere, Phil Rizzuto is smiling.
Man on 3rd, 1 out, Jeter up. We can score here... can't we???
Ok, I'll take that.
[412] but...why bunt in the 4th inning?? guy is very hittable!!
[412] I'm exhausted. That's probably not good.
The Yankees are a big inning offense...giving away an out mitigates against that happening. Girardi simply doesn't know what kind of team he has.
let's just score here team
OK, come on Jeter.
I hear the Score Truck coming, it's rolling round the bend, I haven't seen a hit with risp since I don't know when................
I'm happy it was successful. I don't really trust Melky to bunt, but he got it done, so good.
Let's go, Derek.
PLEASE!
Girardi is a National League manager with an AL team ...
pleeeeeease Derek
Weak fucking hack.
Do something good, Jeter. Do it while I'm still alive for God's sake!
[418] but you're worried about how tight they are down a run. shouldn't they get that first run on the board?
Well, that wasn't hit swing.
[380] weeping, you'll appreciate this. My daughter (who's almost 4) watched the top half of the first with me. I used the frame-by-frame on my TiVo to show her Andy's curveball, because she asked me why the ball moved. She picked it up right away, and the next time he threw one, she said, that was his curve, wasn't it daddy? =)
You know, I do not mind the bunt by Melky there. I'm strangely confident in that move.
I would like Jeter to single in both runs right now, though.
[421] problem is there is a secret compartment in the score truck in the glove compartment
Don't force it Jeter (another reason you don't bunt).
Truckin .... got those hits cashed in ...
Good.
2-1.
[418] I'm with you William, but I couldn't take another DP...
[427] No...because trying to squeeze across one run will lead to forcing things.
[423] Then why don't we ever steal or hit and run?
Jeter is not comfortable up there.
[425] maybe he's just bluffing to get saunders to throw strikes
jesus saunders almost killed him with that pitch
C'mon Jeter!!!!!!!!
[432] I'm grateful for that comment.
No advance?
vlad woulda swung at that
Tricky situation here. Saunders is really wild, but . . .
[442] too close
Idiot, you could have caught that.
Teix would have had that
If Kendry caught that, do we score?
Just out of reach. How fortunate.
take the wal derek
Fuck.
jeter is getting jammed a lot here
Straighten it out, Derek!
worked a walk
nice at bat there
Well done, Captain.
Well done.
He pitched around Jeter. Now Johnny needs to get the ball in the air.
OK, up to Johnny to keep it going...
I'll take it
Oy. Shots of JD all around.
alright! took twice as many pitches as an IBB
don't fail here again JD!!!
c'mon jd - please do something buddy
Sorry but can't get over that bunt..this guy has zero Ks tonight and is now walking people..why give up an out?
Is Damon up with the bases loaded an AB everyone is comfortable with?
In the air Johnny.
Thank you derek. And Fox can quit with the Saunders close up every gdamn pitch.
PLEASSSE!
Johnny, please!
OK, that works, but I feel like we're being teased by the baseball gods every time Damon comes up with the bases loaded.
OK, walk is good.
On you, Damon!
Second time, Johnny Damon. It's time to erase a certain memory.
wow where was that
Got a break there.
I'm begging you Johnny
Saunders with 70 pitches. 71.
it's really LOUD!!!
Its only the fourth inning?
Fucking do it, Damon.
[471] High?
[464] I think so.
What if Saunders walks in a run, and Tex comes up with the bases loaded . . .
Fuck!
Hit the fucker HARD!
Yes!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
YEEEEEEAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Johnny Angel!
SCORE TRUCK!!!
I'll take it!
DAMON!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell yes!!!!
WOOOHOO!
yeah jd!! score truck time
YES!!!!!
Little Bingo...........YES!!!!
what a nice piece of hitting
Huge Johnny...huge...but Tex has to add to the pain...this has to become a big inning.
Oh Shit! JD forced 2 runs home. Fuckin' Girardi.
I'll take it, but the salami would have been epic.
swish looked hilarious there
Come on Teix.
Come on Mark. Crush them
Can I get a Teix message?
[493] It was beautiful. Vintage Damon.
Hahahah, I just heard several fire trucks pass by my place, sirens blaring. Score Truck alarms going off everywhere!
lets keep the line moving here
[495] LOL.
Now, Teix and/or A-rod end this thing.
Buck sounds bummed.
Come on, come on, let's go score truckin'!
Come on, come on, come on, score truckin'!
Would you double steal here?
Knock one Silly, Teix.
A Teix message if you please... I mean really. Fucking hit one out.
A homer is a rally-killer .... but I won't mind ...
[502] Nice!
[506] Fuck him.
[506] he is - expect more football updates if this score remains for awhile
[511] Like bunts, Rally Killers are occasionally the correct play.
Saunders is on the ropes here, gotta go for the kill
wow gotta see that Nicks TD later
[513] Seconded. The guy is an arrogant jackass.
SAFE!!!
All right, we'll take that. Come on A-Rod.....
FUCK YEAH!!!
bring 'em all home A-Rod!!!
I'll take it
THAT MAN is up!!! THAT MAN is up!!!!
Identical 2-1 scores for Yankees & Giants, on their scoring.
Way to hustle Damon! Really picked up Tex there.
Oh fuck yes.
Yes!
That was a break.
Come on, Teix, get it together!
OH YEAH. AROD BE THE MAN!!!
Every body's safe!!
And here comes A-Rod. =) Bring us the soft, chewy underbelly that is the Angels' bullpen!
[506] not to mention more interested in the giants game. not that i mind hearing good news about the g men, but right now i care very little.
Better than a double steal.
Come on A-Rod. Stake in the heart.
Buck, nobody cares about the NFL game right now you douche.
oh snoop too bad you couldn't have thrown it away
try walking alex now mikey s
all the announcers sound bummed when we do good. fuck 'em all
In the air, Alex.
Let's put this one out of reasonable reach.
2-0.....
[530] well some of us who partake in sporting pursuits of the wagering kind do
Agree- Damon really made that play
HIs patience is beautiful. Relaxed. Now hit one you like.
Oh, that was the pitch...
OHHHHHH!
hi kate!
fuck he just missed it
Oof.
Just missed....
SHIT.
[538] He looks downright beatific up there.
LET'S GO A-ROD!
saunders is terrified.
do it up, Alex !!!
CC with a halfsmile in the dugout.
[541] I knew we were both likin that...
crowd should be up and chanting arod's name!
GROOVE ONE SAUNDERS
Remember how jumpy he used to be?
He'd have swung at that 2-1 in years past.
Paging Kenny Rogers!!!!
wow - good eye
I'll take it, great eye.
Good eye Alex.
Well, OK.
So close...
wow i think that was inside but very close, especially for dale scott
Oooooh!!!
Beautiful, Alex.
Looked like a good pitch to me.
Take that, Mike Scociciaia!
Good Job Alex.
I have no idea where that missed though
I'll take it... but Mr. DP up.
Close pitch...A-Rod got the call. That looked good, gameday people?
[550] : )
i like that, too!
keep 'em comin' in Po !!!
WOW...that was close, but even with the bases loaded, he wouldn't grove it.
Leave him in!
Hey Scioscia. EFF YOU!
[562] Well, he walked A-Rod again.
That last pitch was VERY VERY close. Did we catch a break?
[560] yeah - it was a strike for scott
buh-bye Joe..nice knowind ya!
Saunders did not retire a batter that inning..please, it was NOT a "gutsy" performance!
I think it was a touch inside, pretty tough call against the pitcher I guess.
[565] Arod got the call, but IF Posada can't plate another run, there's a decent chance the Angels would have been better off not having Saunders make that 3-1 pitch.
cousin oliver in
[565] gameday actually showing it a bit inside
so can we all stop with how impressive Saunders is now please??
OK Jorge, keep the Score Truck going!
Jorge, put the Score Truck into overdrive now, papi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Po is no Molina, but I think he's gonna keep the Score Truck rolling here.
[565] gameday has it on the line. on the replay it looked pretty good.
[575] Should be "that 3-2 pitch".
[575] Bite your tongue. ; )
[580] I hope so.
[571] Not as blatant as that breaking pitch to Damon, but it was close. A tad inside, but borderline.
ARod so far: 5 HR, 12 RBI, .419 .525 .968 1.493
Down right Bondsian!
Sweep the muther-effin' leg, Jorge!
In the air, Jorge
Where it was caught it was a ball. But when it crossed the front of the plate it was most definitely a strike.
good pitch there.
"So You Think You Can Dance" will be preempted, so that we can bring you "So You Think You Can Umpire"
that's the 2nd time the announcers watched their own strike zone show that the right call was made only to ignore it and side with scioscia
c'mon jorgie - a long drive like last time
Must destroy Cousin Oliver.
FUCK FUCK FUCK
DAMN IT!!! : /
fuck
That figures.
God dammit Jorge.
Son of a bitch...my predictive powers came to a crash with Posada....
Gah!
Still, I'll take 3 runs.
God damnit Posada.
PIG FUCKING PIGFUCKER!!!!
FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUUUUUCCKK!!!
Jesus fucking Christ. That was the worst possible outcome.
Where's Molina when you need him?
FUUUUUUUUCCCKKKKK !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know there are more lefties due up, but this is very silly by Scioscia. Posada's always hit lefties well, and Matsui does too. I think this is because he trusts no one else in his bullpen, and he won't bring in any of the starters in the middle of an inning.
Good for our boys. Nice to see them have no bullpen for a change. =)
GOD DAMMIT! On a happy note, did you say A-Rod try to break it up?! Wow. He is not going to let us lose.
Balls!
all in all though, not bad to take a 2 run lead and get into their shitty bullpen in the 4th
snoop wasn't thriled abou that.
[575] Good call... depressing though...
Posada has been a big goat in this series...that swing is beyond bad. Now, I really wish the ump would have called that 3-1 pitch a strike.
ok well accentuate the positive
- knocked out the starter in the 4th is good
- gave Andy a lead
-ummm...Swish looks happy again?
Posada really stinks in the playoffs compared to his career numbers.
That's OK...not great, but OK. Now Andy needs to shut them down after the long half-inning. The bats will break this open next inning or two.
Ok, come on, Andy, it's all on you.
You can do it, my man.
[612] True!
[611] Taking a run off the board is good? Sure.
damn it!!!
[617] I'd take my chances with Arod...the Yankees needed to get more than 3 runs there...that was a chance to really put this game out of reach.
where was that?
Not a good start
Here come the fucking Angels.
For fuck's sake.
OK, come on Andy.
FUCK YOU, BUCK!
Here comes no one, you asshole.
fuck!
DON'T let them back in this Andy.
fuck you Buck. you're an asshole.
Joe Buck can eat a dick, I'm sorry
Posada has had so many absolutely infurtiating moments this series.
PLEASE GET PRAYING MATHIS OUT
FUCK you, Buck!
Joe Buck spends his off-mic time being fucked by a horned goat devil.
Just sayin'.
[629] I'm cracking a beer if Mathis gets a hit here..
Nice.
finally thank you andy
Andy.
Two more, Andy, two more.
Finally. Jesus.
Finally!
Wow. We got Jeff Mathis out.
buck not happy with that K
No FOX here..so how is Joe Buck tonight, gang? ;)
I didn't realize Andy has 6 k's
[640] Other than his gleefully reporting how huge that DP was?
Posada 2009 PS: .276 .382 .517 .900
Damn it, Posada!!!
OH, FUCK YESSS!!!!!~
HELL FUCKIN' YEAH!!! : )
[639] i hate joe buck as much as anyone, but i don't think i've ever heard him happy, no matter the team.
nice play robbie.
Well done Robbie!
I'll take that baby.
That a WAY, Andy! He is really on tonight!
YES!!
lets go abuse this pen fellas
nice
All right, well done.
good work yanks
[640] a collosaal assfuck
How often do you see a 4-4-3 DP?
YAY ROBBIE.. Smooth as silk, baby.
[643] goat!
Yeah! Eat it, Joe Buck, you cockeating troglodyte.
Andy 65 pitches through five.
[643] The numbers are fine, but he has had maddening moments: calling the fastball to Vlad, not scoring on a 2B from 2B, the crazy run down, and now having an awful swing against Oliver with a 2-1 count and the bases loaded.
The Olive Garden
when you're here....you're getting e-coli
Wonder if Weaver will be in at some point? I have this idea that if they tee off on him in a big game, it somehow sets the world right after his brother blew it.
65 pitches for Andrew Eugene
[662] i think so - and i hope so
[647] He roots for the underdog, which is like most partial fans. He isn't a Yankee-hater.
[647] He hates baseball, finds it very boring. I KNOW he said that, either during an interview, or maybe it was on his (short-lived?) HBO show?
I've always muted his football broadcasts, because I think he's even worse there - maybe that gets him up?
[660] no, he called for an eye-level fastball to vlad, which would have been great. hughes missed by 2 feet.
[647] [665] Along those lines, the FOX broadcast was practically wearing pompoms for the Yankees and Torre against the Braves in 1996.
[659] doh! didn't see ya, my man...
Little Maggie will next be seen in a "Girls Gone Wild" video about 12 years from now ...
More runs please!
WTF MATSUI. Christ.
[662] Only if Scioscia is desperate. His ERA on the road is 2+ runs over what it is at home.
Matsui is not having a good game.
[666] It's obvious he feels he's above the whole thing. I didn't know his HBO show was canceled- that's good to know!
ground fucking zilla.
shut up, buck. shut the fuck up
[666 DAMIEN!!] he didn't say he hates it, just that h finds football much more exciting.
which ok thats fine, so let someone who appreciates baseball call the games then.
joe buck making me feel bad for slightly defending him
oh my God, STFU Buck
Matsui has always frustrated me, he looks great one at bat and then dog shit the next. I love him, but man.
every at bat from Matsui seems the same. First pitch ground out
c'mon robbie destroy cousin oliver
[667] Had Hughes located his fastball at any point in the inning, I could understand him expecting that he could do it in that spot. Unfortunately, the only command he had was with the curve.
That pitch to Posada was PHAT! He was just late on it with a bad swing. Po should have creamed it.
Matsui looking beyond booty recently..
why can't we hit Oliver??? : /
I get the sense that no matter how bad Sutcliffe is, I should be happy that I don't have the FOX feed.
Possible makeup call on that one.
That was the same pitch that walked Alex. Stupid umps.
I really hope they aren't going to sit on 3 runs now.
Damn it, Posada!
Ugh.
[668] that's not how i remember it. i thought buck seemed on the verge of tears at the end, emotionlessly recapping the dramatic series.
The worst thing than hearing McCarver and Buck harp on this double play is knowing that they are absolutely right.
a collosaal assfuck?
Is there a goat involved in this?
[689] Umps always give more on the outside than on the inside of the plate. It's not right, but it's not surprising.
These announcers are really enthused by Oliver. I mean, he's doing his job but they're really enthused.
Are they touching themselves while they are repeatedly saying double play? Man.
[693] Followed closely by me beating it to death, so I'll stop now.
Nice shot of Andy there. He looks locked in.
What horseshit.
Oh God.
Come on Andy.
holy christ. Cy Oliver. jesus fuck!!! : /
oy vey
come on Andy, another 0
Darren Oliver, ace relief pitcher.
[683] that's true in retrospect, but at the time he had only thrown something like 6 pitches.
[694] nope - goats don't like him
one thing buck does okay though is realize a ball is foul off the bat - sterling and kay have yet to master that
[705] I don't think you can overlook how badly Hughes was missing with the fastball.
Oliver probably is their best bullpen guy to be fair.
[705] Every fastball to Hunter was no where the zone...unless they were pitching around him (which could be true), Posada should have figured out that he wasn't going to hit his spot with the fastball.
Please send Choad back to the bench asap, Andy.
[708] Might he be done after 14 pitches?
God I love Daft Punk
Hughes fucked up...or Posada fucked up...or both did...and surely Girardi also fucked up. Whatever. That game is done and gone.
Let's go Andy, keep shutting them down.
These are loooong commercial breaks.
My head really feels like it is going to explode...I don't even want to think about what my blood pressure is right now.
[707] [709] you might be right, but i think you're exaggerating a bit. part of what convinced me his fastball command was so off was that pitch. prior to that i thought he was just nervous or rusty.
At least when Sutcliffe sounds drunk, he is drunk.
it really annoys me how not all of Andy's PS wins are in a Yankee uniform
[715] I have a headache. Just took two advil.
One out.
There's some good luck.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH......choad
fuckin' beautiful !!!
ha ha take that choad you fucktard
So essentially Andy has one whole season added just with October baseball.
More fundamental baseball.
Ah, good solid fundamental Angels baseball.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I don't know if this is flu-delirium, but that is the funnies thing I've seen in years.
[715, 719] Neuprin...little...yellow...different
[717] very funny!
[716] There were a couple pitches that might have been off by a foot.
[719] My head is pounding so much that the only sane thing to do right now would be turn this game off...if I was 7 years old, I would start crying.
He went there. Damn.
Close. Sure. Close.
in the first 2 games fox had a camera that was a perfect side view and clearly showed whether the batter checked or not. where's that camera now?
Ohh!
[731] Start or continue drinking.
OMG!!!!
where the fuck was that pitch????????
oh come the fuck on
damn that was close
andy is working crazy fast tonight
Come on, Andy, drop one in.
[734] If he had made contact, he'd have hit a double
Girardi haters -
When should Pettitte be pulled? Men on base and/or inning/pitches.
And who replaces him?
[731] Yeah, I'm dying. Just a nervous wreck.
Yes.
Yes.
beautiful !!!
Two out.
WHOO hooo. Bobby trying to pull the outside pitch.
[742] Well, not right now of course. How's that?
wow, Andy looked young!
this game right here...this game took years off my life...if I had been of drinking age it woulda been bad news
I'll always remember that Cecil hit that double. I kind of think he should have been the MVP.
[731] You need to take a more Zen approach to this.
I mean... it's only a baseball game.
Ya know, just be William being William.
[751] over leyritz?
Yeah, Cecil was money that series. He did win it via the Sporting News or some crap....
[748] Sure but you wait until two men get on? Or let him get out of it?
And who's first from pen tonight?
That was a fucking strike.
I'm not sure how outside that was, Joey.
just shut up buck and timmy - shut up shut up shut up
[753] And Wetteland. yeah.
[742] Would you please clarify, who is allowed to answer the question.
I am not a "Girardi hater," though I have been critical of several of his moves this post season.
Come on, Andy, one more.
*Rising to feet to clap*
[753] Leyritz's homer of course was huge but Cecil was there all series.
who else has 4 series clinching wins?
i saw Andy & Rocket. there were 2 others...
where is denzel or jack when you need them?
Show Pettitte's delivery and not fucking Rudy G. please.
Andy with a chance to set 2 records tonight.
I could do without the gratuitous Rudy shots, but that's just me.
I'm not digging these foul balls. I'd like Pettitte for 8, Mo for 1.
[762] Yep
MOTHERFUCKER!
Damn. Toriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii went
[759] i still think leyritz deserved it. one ab, yes, but one of the biggest ever. definitely still my favorite yankee memory.
he WENT!!!
WHAT~
bollocks
Nooo!!!
You have got to be fucking kiddin me. That was a swing.
Not good.
Shit, good try.
oh Jesus...
damn - bullshit inf hit
Fucking fuck fuck fuckczsfbjklasbfkl;asbdklasjfbdklsbjd
He swung you blind son of a bitch!
God dammit! Nice effort by A-Rod though.
Shit. Could have been called a strike on the check swing (probably wasn't) and then he gets on with a dribbler.
If I don't post after this AB, please have Alex look up my IP address and send an ambulance.
Andy....PLEASE
jesus christ do not fuck with andy again
[742] Maybe now? I wish they had gotten Torii, then I would have said batter-by-batter in the 7th...
A better throw gets him. Decent play anyway.
Keep the ball UP to Vlad.
Get it done Andy.
[771] Yeah, one of mine too, with Mattingly's lone postseason homer up there as well. But I might go with the Leyritz blast. I loved Wade Boggs bases loaded walk in that same game.
Stay out there, Andy.
get outta this...NOW!!!
Here we go, Andy.
Yes.
Strike one.
Come on, Andy, you're a golden god.
Dale Scott really has a deliberate call
how much chirping are they going to let vladdy do?
Strike two...
that one was outside. the one in the 4th, as shown by fox's own strike zone, was a strike.
no joba, please
Vlad is getting away with a lot of jawing.
COME ON
Christ, I thought that was a gapper
Pardon me, but where the fuck is David Robertson?
Vlad just doesn't have good bat speed anymore.
Up and Out Andy.
I hope Joba doesn't get a chance to fuck this game up
Why is Joba getting loose?
[805] To give me a heart attack.
SHIT!
FUCK!!!!!!!!
SHIT.
Oh fuck.
i can't believe he hit that...
OH, FUCKING FUCK!!!!!~~!
god damnit that golf shit
You have got to be kidding me.
oh man.
bullshit.
keep Andy in there...
OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE
Vlad can hit LOW pitching. You must keep the ball letter high and above.
This is horrible...this is just a horrible experience.
plop
he hits more bad pitches...
Is it too early for a "fuck a goat"? I hate these fucking dinks and dunks. And no, Timmeh, Vlad isn't the only guy who could hit that. Dipshit.
No problem, no problem, Andy's got this.
Two cheap hits.
Seriously, when do you pull Pettitte? And who replaces him?
[807]-[810] Okay, that was funny.
I'd leave Pettitte in for one more here. Neither of those hits was hard. Then I would go to Robertson (which is never going to happen, I know).
i'm going so gray
[818] Don't go anywhere on us.
NO, NOT JOBA!!
NOOO!
I stick with Andy, but oh man.
[823] DRob, unless you are Coffee Joe
I am going to have a heart attack on top of a nervous breakdown on top of this flu I have already.
[821] nah - use whenever you get the urge to say it
Paul... please.... be nice.
I am gonna cry.
Is he pitching around him?
This is cruel.
I am two Angel runs away from hanging myself.
hunter was struck out. dammit
NO JOBA
Looks like Andy's tiring.
Andy HAS to finish this inning.
They seem to be pitching around Kendry... but I don't like Babe Kendrick against the Yankees
How many pitches does Andy have so far?
cmon Andy!
[843] 90.
90 pitches
[843] 90 pitches
If they pull Andy, it should be Phil. Joba amd D-Rob and be trusted not to walk people.
PRAISE JESUS.
[843] Not sure - still under 100.
That a WAY, ANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh God! Whew.
THATS HUGE!!
GOLDEN FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!
god damn. william, you alive?
golden god
WOOOOF!
pieceocake
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Jesus Christ. We have to do that three more times?
YES!
My suicide is avoided -- for now.
Great job, Andy. お疲れさまです!
MUTE POINT!!!!!!!!
i feel like I swallowed that ball
Yes. The post-season gunslinger gets out of it.
Um, score truck, we'd like another delivery please.
In my mind's eye, in real time, I saw that careening off Andy's glove into centerfield. Oh God.
NO JOBA NEXT INNING.
ALL RIGHT!!!
Now, I would let Andy start the seventh. Joba does not sniff this game until extra innings. I go to Robertson or Hughes, then Mo--any one of them for more than an inning if need be.
I wan't worried. Really. I WASN'T WORRIED.
alright everyone deep breath for a second here
I'm going to have a heart attack.
I can't take this.
I can't take it.
I'm hyperventilating over here.
91 pitches for Andy..he come out again?
[854] Barely.
It's a serious question. And when do you go to the pen? And to who.
And the Alabaman ain't seeing action tonight.
Next?
let's go to hughes to start the 7th today joe
so Andrew Eugene for the 7th??
[870] Absolutely.
[865] Yup. Me too.
that was andy's 91st pitch on the comebacker
ya gotta send Andy back out for the 7th. 91 pitches, lower half of the order.
i don't wanna see Joba tonight...
seriously, as an Italian-American I find the constant whoring of Olive Garden in my living room to be deeply offensive
We need at least two more runs here.
I am confident with Andy starting the 7th and would have him carry the ball right to Mariano (maybe try to steal one out from Hughes, but not if men are on base)., regardless of the inning. Mariano can get 2+ innings.
[865] In my mind’s eye, in real time, I saw that careening off Andy’s glove into centerfield. Oh God.
My vision was worse--that it ticked off his glove just out of reach on the IF, allowing one run to score and extending the inning for another excruciating AB with infuriating outcome.
Thank you, God, for preserving me from that.
I'll say this, I trust Andy in the 7th a hell of a lot more than Burnett. I respect AJ Burnett, I'll do business with AJ Burnett, but I don't trust AJ Burnett.
I wouldn't mind seeing Pettitte, only because he wasn't hit hard last inning.
[859] And hopefully a few more times after tonight, starting on Wednesday. =)
Pettitte comes back, but he goes batter by batter. First guy who gets on, pull him. Well, unless its a lefty due up I guess.
Andy's got to start the 7th.
[870] He has to
[870] More Pettitte, please.
[878] I think I would keep Andy in there. He has the balls. This isn't like an AJ situation.
Warm up Hughes and DRob.
let's get the golden god some extra runs team
more cousin oliver
Collide!
[883] Melky and I used to run molasses in from Canada
[879] Agree...my ethnicity pretty much revolves around food.
Darren Oliver, Ace Reliever, gives no quarter.
[879] Ditto - but the breadsticks are really good!
Is it wrong of me to have wanted them to crash into each other, Aybar and Rivera?
I'm glad Cousing Oliver didn't start this game. Cripes. More runs.
[885] I don't know. If you have to go to Hughes, you don't want it to be with runners on.
That's really tough.
Andy could be done...
Fuck, I don't know.
This offense has to get going now...3 runs is not enough.
Darren Oliver Garden ....
[881]. When's the last time Mo has gone 2+.
What if Andy puts the first two of three on. You want him for 8 outs?
[893] Mine revolves around whiskey and stout. Wanna trade?
The crowd seems to be as nervous as some of us are.
[900] The other day.
[879] Who considers Olive Garden to be Italian food?
[900] You don't let him put two on
[900] He got 7 outs in game 2, so yes, I would trust him to get 8.
Good, Derek, good.
Let's put up a five-spot.
longest. game. ever.
[899] NICE, Diane!
Darren Oliver can do whatever he likes in 3 years out of the bullpen. He's still Darren Oliver, and just like on Thursday night, its going to come back to bite him in the ass (again) (eventually).
Who cares about this right now?
Fuck off, Fox.
andy wasn't hit hard, but he started to lose his control a bit. i'd go to the pen.
Bruney proof this mf (I know he's not on the roster). : D
i pull andy now. Don't want a repeat of game 5
Well done, Derek.
[895] i was hoping for a collision too! : )
good job, Jetes!
will he run?!
Wow I can't take much more of this. I'm desperate to see us win this game and go home to the series!
GRITTY
Let's go Johnny!!!
Come on Johnny.
[911] The pen isn't exactly the place I'd go in search of control right now
I don't follow the Phils close enough on a day-to-day basis to speak intelligently on this, but it is kinda surprising they still like Blanton over Haap
Does Jeter have three walks?
Send Jeter?
Come on, Johnny!
OK ... we'll have Swisher pitch the 7th .... :-)
ugly swings
Send Jeter here.
time for a ys cheapie
Man Darren Oliver is tough!
[922] yes 3 walks for jeter
[922] he sure does!
Send Jeter
good eye, that was a nasty pitch
Andy's zoned in.
sounds like andy is back out for the 7th
[930]
1st time in his post-season career with a 3-walk game ...
I'm going to be sweating if joba pitches the 7th but I might sweat more with Phil (lately).
nice nice
tack on time Tex
Yes, it fell!
tex time
jeter's such a good baserunner
A patented Johnny base hit!
Good Job Johnny. Come on Mark
...now for the BLAST part of this equation!
OK, come on Teix. We'll take that little dinker.
Rats, But good. I could have sworn Jeter was going to be able to get to third. SCORE TRUCK!!
Andy came back from 3-0 on Morales and got him out. He's still cool. Let Andy start the 7th and have Phil warming.
Please now Tex...stay back...don't try to do too much...just take a nice easy swing. Please, Mr. Teixeira. Please!
Again, I ask, double steal?
PLEASE, Teix.
that was like a badminton hit ....
[937] I think Phil pitches better in NY. He seems to have a hard time pitching closer to where he grew up.
the only way I might not send Andy back out is if we have some crazy 30 minute/9 run inning here...which would be just fine with me
Send the runners with Teix, or do we trust that he's broken out of it?
Double steal.
Oliver might be wearing down.
Do I hear the score truck?
What if Pettitte puts the leadoff man on? You go to Mo for nine outs?
That seems like poor game theory.
What are you looking at???
for fuck's sake
Well, that sucked.
Goddamn it!!!!!
fuckfuckfuck
fuck it
Oh fuck!!!
Guess not.
fuck
Are you kidding me?
Damnit, Tex
OF course.
god fucking dammit.
does Tex think it's April or some shit?! : /
What the fuck, Teixeira.
[957] Nope.
Grrrr.....
OH JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.
It's Goat time.... in the ASS!
This is wrong.
[970] I might be wrong but I think all of the layoffs are putting him in April form.
[958] If Pettitte puts the lead off guy on, you let Pettitte try to get the next three guys out.
Quick! You're the manager you need to be prepared for this inning right now!!!!
What do you do!!!!????
(to the coffee cup...)
I wonder if Bill Thompson can get out lefties
In the ASS, indeed.
Yankee hitters are keeping the Angels in this fucking game.
darren fucking oliver.
jesus.
Take THAT, you blooping and bleeding Angels!
Teixeira's problems are completely mental...how he let's that 88mph fastball down the middle go and then rolls over on that slop is incredible. If Teixeira had been half the player he was all season, this series would be over.
I go back to Pettitte and then to Joba.
[977] Andy as long as possible, then have Robertson & Hughes. With Mo for a 4+ out save.
[958] What straw man are you arguing with? Not a single person said they would push Mo for three full innings.
Oh well. Come on Yanks just get 9 more outs.
these commercials really are too long.
i'm fucking plotzing
[984] Joba's customary first pitch double may not work with men on base.
[984] Joba? Are you kidding me?
Teix is just saving all his hits for the World Series. Yeah, that's it.
that Rosanna Scotto ages like a fine wine
Pettitte to Mo. PERIOD. Anything else is not giving your best.
I really don't wanna see Joba sniff this game
quick inning please.
no joba
bear down andy
Let's hope that Andy gets through this inning so that Hughes can pitch the Eighth Inning™, thus avoiding the Joba experience.
Unfortunately, it DOES like Andy is losing his location a bit.
Babe Kendrick. Pop it up ya bastard.
Come on Andy!! Let's go.
FUCK YOU, ump!!
Where the FUCK was that?
my stomach is an utter wreck : (
Damn it!!!!!!
Who the hell is that behind Mo?
[286] There was an argument that you let Mo go 2+ but no Hughes if a runner was on. So what do you do this inning if this guy walks?
NO leadoff walk, please!!!
Stop fucking around Andy, and get this pesky bastard out.
With Andy, you go batter to batter.
With Joba, you go pitch to pitch.
Aw C'MON ANDY!!!!!!!
Get the fucking out for fuck's sake goddammit!
[1004] Pettitte
Thank you Swisher!
SWISH!!!
Pfew!
Swisher!
Eight outs.
YEAH! Swisher!
Thank you Swish...that was important.
1 out - good work andy and swish
Yes! Yes!
Swishalicicious
Swisher brought his glove and (sort of) bat tonight!
Well, that will do.
Nice! 2 Runs up you CAN'T walk anybody.
NICE!
8 outs to go.
Abreu wouidn't have caught that ...
Let's go Andy!!
That's a boy, Swisher.
One out.
[1001] I was going to make a cow joke, udder wreck and all that, but I don't have it. I am not nervous at all, though I am cursing a lot for someone who feels calm on the inside.
Oh ... and even better news ... ESPN has FIRED Steve Phillips ...
stick w/ Andy.
DP time!
Fuck.
Eff you Rivera. Bleh.
Why does this have to be so painful? Motherfucker!!!!
Aw crap. Mathis
shit shit shit
oh lord....
get praying mathis again
What?
What?
What?
What?
Crud.
Come on Girardi, don't pull him after that duck snort.
It looks like it's up to Joba to hold it together.
and here comes Mathis. perfect
Oh no.
WTF
Awesome work, #46!!
NOOOOOO!!!!
fuck.damn you, girardi.
THANKS, Andy. you deserve a "W"
This COULD be the last time we see Pettitte pitch ...
No reason to take out Andy here...you have to push him to Mo. Fooling around with this bullpen is tempting the same fate that put us in this position.
Not fucking Joba. Not fucking Joba.
Am I tripping or did I just see Andy bound off the field?
That was a dream, right?
pettitte was losing it, seriously. not sure why joba's coming in here, but it was time to take pettitte out.
If they lose this game right here, I will become extremely angry and complain endlessly, or at least until I've died.
OK ... that DirecTV commercial was creepy ...
i think joba is going to get his shit together here and get out of this
Bring in the guy with the best K/BB ration in MLB this year
Why could Mo go 2.1 innings in Game 2, but not 2.2 innings tonight...especially coming after two off days?
i would in fact get mo warmed up asap
[1051] ratio
[1026] At least he can finally be with his dream girl.
[1047] I'm on the fence with that call...he was losing his location, but nothing was hit particularly hard.
I don't like this..
DP please ...
Where in the world is Dave Robertson?
why is the genius going to izturis instead of napoli?
Well, they got Pudge Mathis put of the game, at least.
OH MY GOD!
NO MARTE!!!!
With Marte up in the pen? Fuck! Is Robertson dead?
[1049] Yeah, Farley and Spade - I'm kinda surprised Spade went for it. I guess its kind of a homage to Farley . . .
[1050] I'm with you ms october - Joba comes through, for sure.
crazy how scared we've become of jeff freaking mathis
c'mon Joba!!!
[1060] Harder to K.
joba throw strikes you shit head
Why is this happening...AGAIN?
He better throw another strike soon.
Joba is going to walk Micer
Throw strikes joba
wow, a whole section of lights are out above the frieze? crazy!
Does Joba even have that wicked slider anymore?
Now'd be a good time...
NO FUCKING SLIDERS
oh lord jesus -
WOW. YAY ROBBIE!!!!
FUCK!
Derek, fucking Derek!!!!!!
Nice work, Robbie.
Thank you, Robby - that was almost a fucking nightmare.
What a freaky-deaky play!
Sutcliffe said that the Yankees would gladly trade one run for two outs. If that is the case, would anyone consider NOT holding the runner on 1B (especially with the LH batter)?
Well, that went about as well as possible.
ughhh...could have been worse
wow Cano in the field tonight...
lead runner, I'll take it
Jeter. Oh jeter.
wow robbie, very nice
meanwhile, get your shit together derek
Mo for 2+ is poor game theory. On the off chance he fails, even if it's just tied, you lose him for the game AND Game 7.
whew. that kinda sucked.
good wherewithal robbie!
That's gotta be two...gotta be two.
Derek's trying to do me in.
They're all trying to do me in.
Take back everthing I ever said about cano's defense. Wow.
[1082] What?
That ground ball almost gave me a heart attack.
7 outs.
Let's go Joba.....Let's go!!!
Phew!!!
6 outs.
Okay. Lets do that two more times.
thats the Jobber we know and love!
whew - YEAH!!!!
THANK YOU GOD
whew
Whew. OK, Joba got the job done. Whew.
yes!!!
6 outs.
more Yankee runs please!!!
WHOO HOO!!!!!!! That was tough hop for the Captain on the previous play.
OK, nice job Joba. I didn't want you in there but you deserve some major credit.
[1050] You called it, ms october! Joba came through. Bravo!
OK guys, RUNS.
Oh, Lord.
Jesus God in heaven, I can't take any of this.
Ms. O, you called it re: Joba.
Thank you.
Phew!
[1105] I see them giving away ABs to get to Mo... :-(
Please score runs now! I can't survive Marte facing Figgins and Abreu in the 8th. I really can't.
ok Mo, pray to Jobu...do Tai Chi...shake hands with beef...do whatever you gotta do to get ready for the 8th
[1108] [1100] haha thanks guys - i had to yell at him once to throw strikes - but he did his job - thank goodness
[1113] Has the binder ever failed us?
...More. FUCKING. RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe a Black Jack taco should cost 21 cents.
apropos of nothing...saw Paranormal Activity on Friday, and I gotta say that was a damn solid little horror movie. and I'm not usually into those things
Please abuse Santana. If it''s him. Abuse whomever. OY! More Runs.
[1113] i'd be surprised if that happens. marte would have come in with men on base in the 7th, but you gotta figure hughes gets the 8th with mo backing him up. still, marte has actually been very good, so maybe girardi trusts him. i'd go with hughes.
[1118] the hell with that - i think they should give you a 4 pack of charmin
Why black? At least people think blue corn is healthier.
[1093] Sutcliffe's argument was that the Yankees would be happy escaping the inning up by one run, because they could go straight to Mo.
My question was more general, really. In the ninth inning up by a couple of runs, the leading team usually does not hold the runner on at 1B. I am just asking at what point would any of you be willing not to hold to the runner on 1B with a two+-run lead, to put your 1B in a better defensive position? The ninth inning? Eighth inning?
[1122] chipotlaway
[1121] he is going to want to turn choad around i bet
John McEnroe?
gotta be fair and tip your cap to Oliver
[1121] I am close to a broken man...I don't even want to play around with the possibility. I just want some more runs...just more runs.
[1093] Sutcliffe's argument (on the ESPN feed) was that the Yankees would be happy escaping the inning up by one run, because they could go straight to Mo.
Oh jesus. 2 inning Mo?
[1119] I was going to comment on the Alien Abduction movie being based on "actual events."
[1124] But one run for two outs? There was a runner on first with one out.
Mo warming!
i still can't believe Scioscia pinch hit mathis w/ izturis. not even napoli.
c'mon A-Rod!!!
[1124] [1130] Oops...sorry about the double post.
Sweet Arod, please.
c'mon alex a walk or a big hit
[1124] i think it entirely depends on the situation. a base stealer has to be held on with less than 2 outs i'd say. mo is a god, but giving him only 1 run for 2 innings is a little risky.
man, the Halos have some incredibly ugly starting pitchers.
it used to be ugly relievers for them...
If Joe brings in Rivera to START the 8th, then Hughes must be hurt ...
Oh, bullshit.
All right A-Rod, beautiful.
Let's go now!!
[1133] Yes, exactly. Sutcliffe was saying that the Yankees would not be unhappy to have gotten out of the inning with only one run scoring...it was a fancy way of saying they would be happy to start the 8th inning up by one, because they trust Mo so much.
he hammers everything, its nuts
Oh, yeah!
Goddamn. Blasted.
I love when Alex hits them up in the middle
ALEX !!!!!!!!
will he run?
Nanoinch?????
Man, that was so pretty.
Laced that fucking ball.
RUNS.
[1140] not necessarily - it would say he thinks mo can get 6 outs and doesn't want to rick going to hughes with choad and bobby
Every nano-inch?
I say Phil for the 8th. He's done it all year AND if we blow it we want mo tomorrow. Plus a minor factor is confidence, but that's not at all deciding.
A-Rod is just unreal. He's worth every penny they pay him. Maybe more.
Joe, don't pinch run for him here :)
he is stinging the ball (when they give him anything to swing at)!
Gotta send A-Rod here somewhere.
are nanoinches metric?
That's your MVP.
[1159] the angels think so
[1139] not that he's anything special, but i don't see the ugliness thing with santana. it's certainly unfair to compare him to lackey.
[1156] Don't let Scott Boras hear that.
Give them a nanoinch, they'll take a nanomile.
[1163] Lackey, Youk and Jay Gibbons are in a league of their own
For Fuck's Sake, Posada. Do something good here.
good eye Po!
[1164] No opt-out this time, rbj. Now we just have to worry about CC.
Come on Jorge.
[1166] Nobody tops Otis Nixon. He was fugly.
i guess it's just the awful beard w/ no mustache. he ain't no Honest Abe!!!
are the Giants fucking serious??
2-1. Send him, Joe. Send him. If not now, when?
[1153] And if Mo fails? That does happen and with just two runs it's certainly possible.
Then you're still stuck tonight and tomorrow night.
WTF teh Giants are losing
there's a lot you don't understand timmy
Posada is fucking disgusting
fuckin hell, jorgie. : /
Well, that was the worst of all options.
Egads.
jesus h another dp
Shit. A-Rod should have just gone. Dammit! We need RUNS!
come on arod what the fuck are you doing there
[1169] Boras would find a way. He's that much of a snake. And I say that respectfully -- he gets his clients their money.
Jeebus H Cristal, Jorge!
Eh, what do I know. : (
GAHHHHH
Well that stunk.
Jorgie fucking sucks.
Posada....awful....why don't they want to win this fucking game.
Not a highlight game for Jorge
[1174] Well, we could do whatever the hell that was
Son of a fucking fuckmonster. Fuck.
Come on Matsui, go with the pitch buddy.
We aren't going to score again tonight.
The pen is really going to have to carry the Yankees now.
ok, go to mo for the top of their lineup
Geez, close.
oh man.
This offense might as well be gagging.
gotta just give it to Mo and pray
damnit
Humpf.
How many baserunners have we had, like 43?
Jesus.
Looks like you'll get what you want. Girardi lives to survive another day.
Fuck these fucking underfuckingperforming fucking hitters. Fuck 'em.
Come on, Mo.
[1193] "Son of a fucking fuckmonster. Fuck."
Don't die, felix - that was on the level of "fuck a goat"-brilliant! Its always nice to laugh when things feel tense.
[1193] I like that.
Arod is like an island of hits surrounded by outs. I am almost inclined to bat Jeter 3rd and Teixeira 5th.
Mo for six...I'm shitting!
[1207] and Swisher second?
Why are these commercials so long?
mo time
1,2,3. Lather, rinse, repeat. Oh, I can't take much more of this.
In game 3, it was Swisher who had a ton of men on base and had just horrible at bats. Tonight, it's been Posada. Each of his ABs were so bad...trying to destroy the ball instead of just putting it in play.
i LOVE Mo!!!
Strike 1.
That's a strike, ump.
Keep Choad OFF the bases.
Well I wanted Phil but
IN MO WE TRUST!
holy fucking hell
I can't take this
You have GOT to be kidding me.
No good. No good.
Why is this so cruel...why....fucking why.
fuck!!!
why is that a GOOD start, Buck? fuck off!
Yup.
shades of the D'backs ...
FUCK.
FUCK.
I'm glad I could lighten the tension here but now I feel like hanging myself with my own intestines. Just, fuck. Fuck.
[1175] Your not stuck tonight, because you have used fewer pitchers...you still have Hughes and Robertson.
As for tomorrow? In a game like this, you have to go with your best chance to win NOW, not worry about tomorrow. Keep in mind, Mo might hold them here and then the offense tacks on a few runs, taking the pressure off for the 9th.
For the record, I agree with going straight o Mo here.
Double play. Please.
fucking dinky little bloops
I'm going to go so far as to say you have to think about pulling Mo early if he runs into trouble this inning.
This is not good for my health. I swear I"m losing years off of my life expectancy watching this game
[1231] Huh?
[1231]
I second that emotion ...
One and two..
Come on bobby. You used to hit into a lot of DP's for us.
OH, FUCK, TEIX!!!
great stop tex
Okay
wow, what a play Tex!
Nice Play, Teix.
Teix! At least his glove is still working.
Five outs...
Great, one out. But this fucking sucks. I WANT THREE OUTS FOR FUCK'S SAKE!
Tex is the man!
I think I just heard Buck get slightly excited for something a Yankee did. Unreal.
Nice Tex!
Figgins is gonna steal third
5 outs.
[[1247]] I think so too.
shut up, Buck
Those big swings are scary.
Robbie!
Damn, Robbie!
That was scary.
very lucky
Bring.
Yer.
Gloves!
Good placement. : O
oh, thank god Robbie was playing up the middle.
whew!!!
my heart stopped.
Played perfectly! Thanks scouting
Wow. wow wow. Lucky that Cano was there.
yes - luck is great to have
Cano! 4 outs
oooooph ah, good Robbie
Did he have a play on Figgins?
Jesus Christ in fucking Heaven, I saw that ball flying into center and wanted to end it all right there.
Cano and Teix making it happen!
4 outs.
(how good has Cano looked tonight?)
strike 1
PASTADIVI----CANO!!!!!!!
IBB Vlad ..... nah
I'm dying over here...
[1264] no. Jeter wasn't at the bag, and there's no way he coulda beat him there.
[1264] I don't think so. But I'm not going to rewind on the TiVo to find out.
Mo's at 89 on their gun...
I take back everything bad I have ever said about Cano
People are scary when you don't know what they'll do. (see Vlad, strike zone)
Am I the only one who hears "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" in my head everytime Vlad appears?
strike 2
[1264] no choad got back fast
One and two.
*Rising to clap*
[1275] I won't do that until #27.
C'MON MO!!!!
oh FFS strike him out
It had to come down to vlad. Ugh
miracle he laid off that
Almost...
i'm standing.
[1277] i loved playing that song live
Mo has the right idea. UP! UP! UP to Vladdy.
Vlad always looks so happy. Ball 3, jackass.
Fuck you, Vlad.
I like the high cheese.
Couldn't Mo whip out his changeup for right now? Give me a little less anxiety?
jorgie's contagious! ; )
I didn't think that was ball four
get your ass back in the box vladdy
uh lol
HAHAHA!!
Good. Now Vlad is tired.
He and Damon and Posada need to take remedial baseball.
[1291] he definitely took something off that 2-2 pitch
Dont like long at bats here
Don't make me eat my own laughter, Vlad, you gashfaced tosser.
[1297] hahaha
If If If, Buck?
If you father wasn't an announcer, you'd have no job!
Damn. I wish Mo's velocity were a bit higher...
fuck.
Oh God.
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!
Damnit
shit
Ok, no problem.
OH SHIT FUCK
Fuckitty fuck fuck!
Why is this happening!
oh god
oh no.
and Mo is already approaching 20 pitches.
this is awful.
i can't take this shit.
No problem, we've got 'em now.
I am not going to survive this.
Well they still need a few more cheapo hits to score another run.
FYI: Mo is at 18 pitches with four outs to go.
Its always got to be close, doesn't it.
Let's go, Mo.
I. Hate. Vladimir. Guerrero.
GET OUT OF THIS FUCKING INNING. For the love of god. And then score some fucking runs you incompetent offensive douchewads.
Mo missed the spot on that one
Christ. One more out already.
Guys, it's Mo...
one more strike
I'm not happy. Just get out of this fucking inning already
3 outs.
ok ok ok
Three outs to go.
Hughes/Robertson warming in the bullpen for the 9th just in case I hope.
**Exhale**
Get more fucking runs!
alright - still up team
Runs! Stat!!
OK, get a run back god damn it.
okay.
more runs please.
i think i'm gonna cry.
That's our Mo!
Now, COULD THE BATS PLEASE SCORE A FEW FUCKING RUNS?
Please?
Thank the big fucking Mickey in the sky.
Okay. We just need to do that more time. Three more outs.
Can we get another run or eight?
hey paul do you want to go to hughes in the 9th now or something?
Way to bend and not break, MO.
YO!!! How about some fucking insurance you suckas!
Robbie. Yard. Book it, Dano.
Not ideal, but sometimes their studs win against your studs. But they still have the lead, the bottom of the order is coming up, and Vlad is out of the game.
Now, Score Truck?
I hate that quick-grab move Cano does. Let me correct that... I hate it cause about 10% of the time he boots that damn thing.
please some runs here...my heart needs them
And just in case NO more vlad and willits was wasted too.
Cano-Swisher-Cabrera?
Kendrick is the scary batter vs. Mo in the ninth.
Insurance, please....
[1347] I have a feeling one of those guys will go yard
I didn't realize the Angels carried 3 catchers too. Just perused their available pinch hitters...
[1348] He always is the scary batter. The Yankees need more runs....the bats have been pitiful.
[1347] Sounds like three quick give aways...
[1350] I have a feeling none will and that I will have a heart attack in the 9th, never to know whether the Yanks got it done or not.
I wish my life insurance agent would pick up his damn phone.
good eye robbie
good start
ROBBIE. ROBBIE ROBBIE. ROBBIEROBBIE. ROBBIEROBBIE. ROBBIEROBBIE. ROBBIE
Did Robbie just walk on four pitches?
Pinch run for Cano?
OK, come on Swisher!
Good start Robbie.
4 pitch walk to Robbie? A miracle!
Kazmir eh....
OK, Swisher up, one on, no out. He's got to get something going here, right?
C'mon SCORE TRUCK. Better late than never, whadda ya say?!?!?
2 walks for robbie
[1360] do not give girardi any bright ideas
Need to score some runs? There's a Kazmir for that!
[1360] How is Hairston at second? Cano has been sharp.
Or a walk. A walk with work.
And here comes our old friend Kazmir.
Just wait unitl this team starts hitting. Man, I'm a mess.
Cano took 4 striaght pitches??
He really is terrified to use Weaver in the Stadium.
Just Fucking bunt him over. I'd rather waste an out than see another DP here.
[1370] Shhhhhhhhhhh!
[1341] Of course not. But if Mo is getting north of 40 pitches with someone on base, I'm getting very worried. And my heart is on the edge of exploding.
I really need more runs.
[1368] I didn't say "pinch stand there"
Hey it's the Aflac duck. Geico runs. Aflac runs. I don't give a shit. More runs.
please Swish
[1375] Do you remember Swisher's bunts?
Pinch hit gritner here and bunt
why is he getting forever to warm up?
Clearly Swisher wont sacrifice, because then you would PH with Gardner.
Make Kazmir prove he can throw a strike before bunting
I'm going to cry.
My body is so tight right now...
My fucking neck and shoulders are *killing* me.
If Girardi was going to bunt, he needs to pinch hit for Swish. He's terrible at bunting.
No PR. Robbie's been flashing the leather tonight and I want his glove for the ninth.
AC/DC on the PA
c'mon Swish!!!
[1387] I wish I was feeling as good as you.
don't fucking bunt
Cano: 3,036 career PAs .... 59 4-pitch walks.
Stop it with the fucking bunting!
2-0
get a walk here swishy
OK, 2-0. Please take the bunt off.
Take the fucking bunt off!
[1391] Hey, you're still alive!
why is he bunting?!?!
I don't believe this.
WHY is he tryibg to bunt???
[1393] What would be an average ratio there?
... Why not PH Gardner if you're gonna bunt?
I really don't like a bunt here. I'd rather just send the runner.
Pardon me, but -
WHY THE FUCK IS NICK FUCKING .380-something OBP SWISHER TRYING TO BUNT?!?!?!
i'm a giant stress ball
nice break
SHAwing!
wow
Eat Shit, Scioscia.
oh shit that was lucky
Brilliant managing! :) Oh, what a break!
SAFE!!!!!
OK....NOW bunt.
The Angels do not deserve to win..still hat the bunt there though
OH MY GOD YES!!!
Well, that worked out.
Another bunt here?
good work swishy - your grittiness make him drop the ball
YES!!!!
girardi's a genius. swish is the best bunter ever!
now...SCORE!!!
Ah, the fundamentally sound Angels strike again!
Good things happen with bunts!
girardi lucked out. that was not a good move whatsoever, particularly after 2 balls.
I'll be damned!
He beat it!He got damn lucky!Did he really drop the baseball?
Wasn't the out recorded?
WOW!
Holy fuck, let's get SOME FUCKING GODDAMN COCKSUCKING MOTHERHUMPING RUNS!!!!!
FUNDAMENTAL BASEBALL!!!!
Good hustle by Swisher, I think Kendrick saw him in his peripheral vision there.
[1417] Yes, Please
aprpopos of nothing, U2 is showing a concert on live on youtube tonight.
That was worse that Swisher's first bunt
Is everyone here ok with Damon batting with the bases loaded?
Scooter is not happy with that bunt, Melky. Extra laps for you.
[1424] no, off the heal of the glove
Gardner running for Swisher. I guess that's the right move, but I don't like losing Swisher's defense to PH for teh trail runner.
I love Kaz!
HAH AHA HAH AH AH AH AHA HA HA HA HA HA HAA HA HA AH!!!!!
YES!
yes yes yes
SCOTT KAZMIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy mutherfucking ghosts!
If we're going to bunt why not use Gardner whose speed:
1. Increases the chance of actually having 2 on and nobody out.
2. Plays better defense.
Ok so morales dropped the ball which "mutes" my point.
But not really cause here's Gardner now pinch running.
fuck the angels and there bullshit
AHAHAHAHAHA BWHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT HAHAHAHAAHAHA
MORE FUNDAMENTAL BASEBALL!!!!
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!
1421. Paul
October 25th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Good things happen with bunts!
The fundamentally sound Angels strike yet again in this inning!
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh was that awesome!
Meltdown by Kaz!!!! Awesome
WhatTheFuckWasThat?!?!?!?!?!?!
What in the bloody fuck was that?
YES!!!
I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!
fundamental ballplayers, those angels!!!
MORE RUNS!!!
oh, that's a long flight back to Cali now
SHIT PIE FOR SCIOSCIA. I LOVE IT
I cannot believe it.
I CANNOT believe it!
Two bunts in a row - and the Angels fucked them both up!!
I'm flippin out! What it's doing is making these guys rush... and that's not a good way to make throws.
YES YES YES!
[1445] Very prescient.
http://www.sadtrombone.com
I guess Steve Phillips CAN judge pitching talent .... at least fielding-wise.
Now THAT'S fundamental baseball.
This is amazing. I feel so much better now.
Those gutsy, gritty, fundamentally sound, well managed Angels.
.
.
.
And PR for Swisher ended up being the right call, because it took away the throw to second on an otherwise not great bunt.
Don't stop here!!
shit, how bout ANOTHER bunt?! ; )
I got yer "playing the game the right way" right here, Scoscia you arrogant fuck!!
let's go captain - blow this bitch open
YAY
In the air Derek
come on turn the top of the 9th into a party
Fuck at this point you might as well keep bunting! (joking of course)
Big Ugly looks ugly and frustrated.
Kazmir STILL CANNOT THROW STRIKES
mikey s not happy - bwahahahahhh
Heck ..... let's add some baby bunting ...
Crud.
OK Johnny, one more run.
No good. In the air Johnny
and the Yankees have successfully sacrificed
[1458] +1
He tried sooooooooo hard to throw that ball gently to 1st base.
Jeter, geez.
Damn it!!!!! Please, but the hammer down......please!!!!
damnit team get these runs in
[1472] Can't believe they brought him in, hiss control is awful..
well, that sucked.
must plate at least 1 more here.
[1462] Damn skippy.
[1465] I'll take that too!
Dammit, now the Yanks do have second and third with one out. And here's Damon.
Would it be too much to ask for a fucking home run from Damon here?
The "Bunt is Bad" myth dies forever tonight. There is always a place of for it.
[1474] I am losing my mind. I read that as 'baby hunting.'
I would send Gardner on just about ANY pop fly.
I guess Jeter should have bunted.
Get this run in!!! Please!!!
No Derek, No! We need some more runs here.
OK, don't strand them for the love of Mo.
1790 4-pitch walks in 87,529 PAs in 2009 AL games.
[1486] ??? Because the opposing team committed an error? But they could have erred on not bunts, too.
This proves nothing one way or another.
Wow-zers!
I said going into this inning I'd gladly take 1 more run...yeah, well I lied
I really really want at least one more run.
c'mon Johnny!!!
come on just one more run so I can watch the 9th without shitting my pants
[1489] And no one here would have objected if Jeter did!
1495] Just checking in, Chyll? Crazy game!
I'm still a wreck. C'Mon Johnny!
Victor Zambrano sits in front of his TV, points at Kazmir, and simply says "HA!"
let's go tex
Good eye
[1500] I'd like to see us try a squeeze, to be honest.
Good work, Johnny, good work!
Come on, fucking Teix!
PLEASE!!!!!
[1500] I was being facetious.
YES!!!!
huge AB for Tex here.
come thru and get Alex back to the dish!!!
IN THE AIR
「1503」Well done! Time for the special brackets.I feel a granny coming!
mother of god, Teixeira, do something good.
Knock the cover off the ball, Babba O'Reily!
Baba O'Riley says- time for a double off the wall
sticking with kazmir here? white flag??
Come on Teix.
That pitch looked good.
Make him throw strikes. Kaz has all the pressure.
C'mon Teix!
Just. hit. it. in. the. fucking. air.
[1495] Glad you came by, Chyll.
What does he keep looking at?
kazmir has little control here
Tex has no grasp of the strikezone right now
ouch
Oy. Blew that one by him.
Dang, that was a fastball!
That was nasty.
Kazmir still can show flashes of what made him such a stud
c'mon Mark!!!
YEAH!!!
Tag'emup!
FUCK YES!!!
that works
Yes! I'll take it!
That'll do Teix, that'll do.
nice drive, i'll take it!
more please, Alex!!!
ok I'll take it
I thought we entered Tino Territory for a minute there
Close, but I'll still take it
I'll take that. Good AB Tex
Great job Mark. All you needed to do there.
hunter faked us out there
Good job Teix! Another run, & no double play.
bring in dream weaver!!
Did he wait long enough McLelland? Asshole.
I thought he got that, but I'll take it at this point.
Now, Arod, or likely Posada after the walk, let's add another nail.
No appeal? : D
Thank you, Mark Teixeira.
Ok, 1 more, now IBB to Alex?
I think you have to walk Alex
[1541] Might have faked out Posada if he was on the bases...that's what started the chaos on Thursday.
[1549] I would, Posada is in the toilet tonight
Dos Equis should've just sprung for Chuck Norris.
If they bring in the new pitcher just to walk A-Rod, that's really dumb. Maybe they though Kazmir would lob it over the catcher this time?
[1545] I'd like to think Mo can get three outs before three runs.
I'll still take another run though
touch weaver's ass up team
[1554] I would like 3 more runs.
At least.
wow 5 of his 6 hits off Weaver are homers.
why would you pitch to him?!
Wait..OB just said Alex has not swung and missed even ONCE in this series..is that true? Incredible if so!!
green light here just in case he decides to groove one
Green light.
let's go Po!!!
[1558] That can't be true...can it?
make bw pay po!
OK Posada. I could go for another run or two...
Ok, Posada. Let your lasting memory of the ALCS be a GIGANTIC hit here.
I am shocked. That was the worst not really intentional but oh yeah it was intentional walk I've ever seen.
Scioscia's bullpen had been doing a pretty darn good job. Now he goes with the best pitchers but not his regular rotation.
Come on Po, let this erase the bad memories
Come on Jorge
finish them Jorge
Eric Hinske would be nice here ...
ARod: .438 .537 .969 1.505
A homer here would be nice.
Please, Posada. Please.
All right, then, looking ahead to the ninth...
Yep; watching the game while my Mac is moving s l o w . . . I'll be around for Q & A >;)
Come on PO, just a little blooper and all is forgiven
Come on, Jorgie, you can do it!
Cano needs some moisturizer on that chapped skin on his elbow ...
[1571] first you want hughes over mo and now hinske over po - you okay :}
2-2 Gotta throw a strike here.
[1579] that was nauseating in HD
[1580]
no :-)
At least he can't hit into another DP here.
Eesh
Fuck you, Buck, don't laugh at Jorge, you piece of shit.
Oh God.
That is some shitty night for Posada
that was a nice pitch. LETS GO MO
ok Mo, lets do it
Posada has been absolutely sickening.
Ugh.
All right, Mo, do your thing.
jesus fuck po
alright 3 outs boys
[1583] give it a few minutes
More is better than less, but I suspect that three runs will be enough.
dammit jorgie.
3 outs to the WS!!!
Okay. Here we go
Fuck. Oh well.
Close it out, Mo.
That look familiar. Should have pinch hit Molina. : ) 3 OUTS TO GO!
Protect the fucking plate, Jorge!
Maybe Cervelli should start the Series.
[1591] Maybe Molina should have PH for him?
There's an App that helps the Angels field bunts cleanly ...
I'm exhausted.
He swung at so many bad pitches all game, but then takes a fastball down the middle.
[1601] Yeah, but it has a bug in it.
[1603] He caught Teixeiritis
[1588] Except that he gets credit for Pettitte pitching so well, or at least he should people are consistent in their views of Molina and Po.
Please Mo...nice an easy....don't hurt me anymore.
[1603] It broke back over the middle, it was a tough pitch
I mean we all would've signed up for giving Mo a 3 run lead in the 9th 3 hours ago
[1603] it was on the inside corner at the knees
[1601] I was just thinking that... "on the line for loosing the ALCS and need to field a bunt? There's an app for that".
hilarious, Diane.
Oh yeah, I'm very happy they got 2 runs there, no matter how ugly. Come on Mo!
[1610] Perfect for a lefty in Yankee Stadium.
I think I'm sick
Let's go Mo!!! Please!!
[1603] po is a major guess hitter - drives me crazy with2 strikes - but he is still a very good hitter
Shake the rust off...lets go.
Hey, damn, Mo's velocity is up to 93!
I think Howie Kendrick is guaranteed to get on base.
[1609] A-yup. I'm still on board.
One out.
2 more
1 out!
No fucking walks and no fucking hits and no fucking errors. Please.
ok ok ok!!
2 outs.
1 down
My wife is making fun of Buck hawking DirecTV. I'd say we're relaxed here. =)
Two outs to go!
Let's go Mo!!!!
TWO MORE!!!!!!!!
Reverse Jinx #1.
Classic Mo
ok standing up again
[1618] I was going to say that it seems he's always stronger in his second inning, but I have no data to back that up.
come on Mo!!!
2 outs left. :)
Strike one....
Almost there..al..most.....there......
Man, it's been a longtime since the Yanks have caused glum faces like that in the opposing dugout.
COME ON!!!
Strike 1.
Sorry. I'm calling the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 New York Yankees - the American League Champions for the 40th time!
We're going HOME! Now Let's get those phillies!
Okay, everyone hold hands...
Strike two!!!!
Strike 2.
[1640] The ALDS wasn't that long ago.
Nice!
this is way more enjoyable than game 7 '03
Rivera vs. Rivera? Doesn't seem right.
One more!!!
One more to go!
One more.
2 out!!
[1646] That's true, but this feels so much better. Maybe I didn't notice it quite as much.
ONE LEFT!!
[1646] With this schedule, yes, it was!
ONE MO!
That's two!!
standing up now!
Let's go Mo!!!!!
my eyes are welling.
i'm shivering
if i cry, they'll be happy tears!!!! : )
one. more. out.
here we go...
the magical singular out remaining.
WHOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 1 More
this is awesome
1 more out!!!!!!
Helllllllllllllll o Kate.
Wish they would storm the field like in 76 with Chambliss....I'm bouncing up and down here across the world!!
Are they crazy? GMjr?
i'm standing, rubbing a Mo baseball card
Are we in December yet?
1 out.
lets all hold hands....
Fuck the rally monkey and those angels fans can shove those thundersticks up their collective asses. I'm glad they forced a game 6 so they can think about it on the lonnnnng flight home.
in what world is that a ball?
1...
ONE MO!
1 more strike!!!!
1 more strike!!
1 strike.
2...
Last strike!
Oooh .... its midnight!
Howz about a backwards K?
1 more strike
paint the outside corner!
THIS RULES!!!
High cheese didn't do it there.
You got him, Mo. You got him.
c'mon mo
Mo's just toying with them.
Okay, lets just finish this now
end this now MO!!
Happy MOnday.

See you there, boys and girls!!!

WE FUCKING ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!
No dog pile --- that's the next series!
And ANDY sets TWO records.
Pettitte was the "Golden God" tonight. AWESOME!!
FUCK YOU, BUCK, GO FUCK YOURSELF!
There it is!
Mean Machine! Mean Machine! Mean Machine!
(Buck about to cry...)
This is gonna be one INTERESTING World Series ....
[1707] Mariano Rivera.
Just wait unitl this team starts hitting. : D
So A-Rod is MVP with CC a strong runner-up, right?
Just got back from a field trip, got to listen to the game on the radio. Before I collapse into bed, let me just express the following emotion:
WOOOOOOO!!!
That is all.
Congratulations to Andy -- #16 post season win.
Good night all, I go to bed already with a smile on my face.
CC vs Cliff Lee in Game One, defending champs vs best team in 2009 reg.season..how sweet it is!!
Good stuff.
Melky is going to be the hero in at least 1 WS game. Cano will hit.
Need Swish/Po/Godzilla to wake up a bit.
[1726] yep -sounds right
Wow.
Wow!!!!
now....
LET'S WIN THE MOTHERFUCKIN' WORLD SERIOUS!!!!
Yankees in five.
tell em derek - fuck you robothal
Wow, look how happy and loose Derek looks! (And he still sounds sick, btw.)
Rosenthal and Costas play one-on-one on an 8-foot hoop.
Great Andy! Great ALEX! Bad bads but GREAT breaks!
Look at our boys!!!!
I'M SOOO HAPPY!!!!!
I just exhaled now!
god i hate robothal
Jeter still looks under the weather to me.
Tomorrow is another day.
A-Rod finally gets to a World Series ...
Heck, Jerry Hairston, Jr. finally gets to a World Series. :-)
I am on cloud nine right now.
What flu?!
Fucking hell yes!
this is fucking Awesome!!!
winning it all would be the BEST!!!
[1734] I'll take that!
First time there will ever be a world serious game that starts on my birthday - and the Yanks are playing in it! I always wanted that as a kid. =)
I wish all of us could join in cyber space and hug it out like Teix, Jetes and Alex.
This is so fuggin sweet. And CC ready for GAME ONE.
HOT FUGGIN SHIT!
i-95 series time
Playing "Fallen Angels" by Aerosmith
*pumps fist*
I hope Jeter didn't get A-Rod sick on that hug!
The Yankees had to win this ALCS...they had to put the 2004 ALCS behind them...they had to put this Angels hex behind them...and, for me at least, they had to get to the World Series one more time while the Boss is around. For the Yankee brass, they probably also needed to get Girardi to a World Series in the Torre aftermath.
It really feels like this organization can now just go about the business of trying to win their 27th championship...which is deliriously refreshing.
Check THIS out:
Sources said Hal McRae, the team's hitting coach, has been fired. Mark McGwire, the former Cardinals slugger, will replace him, a source told ESPN.
night all!
Is that Hal's real hair?
[1754] Holy shit, that's crazy. And awesome too, crazy awesome.
They are showing the locker-room now here on tv, Matsui of course. He always looks uncomfortable being hugged :)
Can't wait for Thursday morning now, Game one with CC!!
[1749} Well, I-95 plus some I-276, or some I-295 around Trenton...
[1748] Right back at cha', AB. And all you folks out there - couldn't imagine going through this with any other group of Yankees fans.
See you all Wednesday night! (OK, tomorrow morning - and every agonizing minute until Game 1 starts!)
I'm gonna assume Jackie Autry didn't want to have to give the trophy to the Yankees this year.
it's pretty funny (and awesome) how hal has completely pushed hank out of the way
[1754] I saw that. It's hysterical. So what tricks will McGwire teach those young hitters to improve their swing?
Now that it's over, I am sure Hal is happy about playing a game 6 in which 100% of the gate receipts went to the Yankees.
Beautiful, the way they took care of business tonight.
who just sprayed Hal ?
[1726] I like Lonn Trost's grinning visage in the background, like Evil Burt.
wow sabathia over arod. i think it's understandable, but wrong.
CC = ALCS MVP
Sabathia. Interesting. Can't say he doesn't deserve it.
CC???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What does ARod have to do??????
Ol Hoss coming by with a scotch in hand. Can it be more satisfying than to have Pettitte be that good and Mo close it for him? I was weirdly touched to see the quiet, two-man celebration they had on the mound, before it became general over by shortstop. I've never seen that before.
They looked ... like grownups. And AL champions.
Night all. We have some baseball to play this week!
CC = MVP over A-Rod. I'm a bit surprised...but you can't go wrong either way.
C.C. with the mvp.
Reporters must not want to give Arod any credit, but you know what, I really believe that he probably doesn't care. CC is a very good choice too, but when you have an offensive player who has struck total fear into the oppostion, he has to be the MVP.
[1771] Bat .800 with a slugging % of 3.000.
[1767] Hope someone sprays him with champagne and ruins his suit!
[1768] Wrong wrong wrong but what the hell, A-Rod for WS MVP!
[1773] Me to, and yeah, I agree.
Andy Pennant sign. nice.
Mayor Bloomberg is on camera....why?
[1765] Andy Pettitte. Mariano Rivera.
One thing CC did is he went 8 innings and completely took the bullpen and managerial decisions out of the equation. There is definitely value in that.
i think A-Rod should've gotten the MVP. i wish he did.
let's hope he gets it for the next series!!!
Nothing looks better than Yankee blue when it is soaking wet with champagne.
[1776] No question.
Congratulations to the Yankees!
ooh. he didn't mention Tex...
it was so great to just be able to enjoy the 9th without any agita, and Mo with the fitting K. So so satisfying.
Ok Cliff, I'm ready for the WS breakdown now please!
[1783] let’s hope he gets it for the next series!!!
If not him, another Yankee will get it.
CC is amazing, but...
CC = .79 WPA 2009 postseason
AR = 1.20 WPA 2009 postseason
that is including Twins series too
There is nothing WRONG with CC as MVP, but Alex flat-out terrified the Angel dugout all series. It should have been his, but I agree: he doesn't care. Not tonight.
arod should have got it but it is not outlandish cc got it - i think pitching game 4 on short rest tipped it over to him
Ooops, I mean [1769] No question. CC for MVP.
Geesh :)
A game 7 would have completely fried my brain, scared my dog to death, and make my wife shake her head a million times. So thrilled. Eat Shit Scioscia. Slaying the Angels is just as good as beating that other stupid team.
[1791] nothing wrong with it except that it was wrong. seriously though, who cares? i just hope it doesn't impact arod's psyche!
[1789] i'm down!
CC the MVP, I guess you can't argue with that. I pictured Co-MVP for him and Alex. Not worried, they'll do it again in the next round.
Going to bed now; 3AM wake-up call. Funny, I'm now in business mode for the WS...
Phew. Boy, I love this stuff.
[1794] Gam 7 wasn't an option...the world was going to end before it could get to that.
FUCKING WORD
[1795] If anything, I think it's better for his mindset...it's more motivation and less of an opportunity for an inflated ego.
this is FUN!!!
yes, i absolutely would've exploded/imploded if there was a game 7. it would've killed me...
[1799] Agreed. Not an option. Scioscia looking somber. That's ok.
[1799] i'd love to find that comment you made right after the regular season started announcing how much more relaxed you are during the postseason than the regular season! i hope you live to see the end of the world series.
[1804] right after the regular season ended, that is
[1803] Scioscia has a 10-year contract...he'll be around for more.
Calm in the post season. Can it be done?
[1795] Nah, he's *way* past that bullshit. He's entered zen master territory.
[1807] only by mo
[1804] This post season didn't turn out that way...for some of the reasons I mentioned a few posts ago, as well as a few others, the Yankees needed to make the World Series for my mindset.
Whiz Kids rematch!!
this really was fun, no Red Sox psychodrama, no game 7. We were just a better team and we flat out beat them and got to enjoy it.
[1806] With the amount of mental errors made in this series, you would think the manager would feel some heat?
Glad I have the rest of the day here now, don't know how you people would sleep!
CC vs Lee is such a good matchup..Ryan Howard vs. CC in particular should be great!
[1754] I bet those players are going to gain 50 pounds of muscle mass in 6 months in a completely non-suspicious way.
[1806] He scares me. Period.
Checking in from Cooperstown...
I think that this is the second or third most satisfying Yankee pennant for me as a fan. Only 1976, when Chambliss homered, and possibly 1996, when they returned to the World Series after a long drought, have been any better. Six years doesn't seem like a long WS drought, but it has felt much longer than that.
Hats off especially to Pettitte, Chamberlain (an unsung hero tonight), and Damon, who brought home the first runs of the night.
Woo hoo!!!!!
Been a great season, folks, good to share it with all of you! Let's take it one last step and win this damn thing!!!!!
YES!!!!!
Derek looks like a kid! He really looks happy!
[1809] And sometimes he makes it interesting/
[1815] i think our last pennant was pretty much as good as it gets
"I don't know a thing about 'em, I haven't thought about 'em."--Jete on Philadelphia.
:)
[1802] I'm saying! Plus, I got a free ticket to go see Fela on broadway, so it woulda been a skip on that show if there were a game 7.
whew..
[1821] That can't be a show about Fela Kuti can it? On Broadway????
We've got to figure out how to hit cliff lee. He's been tough on our team the last couple of years. Actually I'm glad we've at least seen him this year.
Ok, so what I didn't want to say the other night is that I thought - as much as you didn't want to EVER keep the Angels alive - if we could win, a Game 6 wasn't the worst thing.
We got to play another game and be more in rhythm for Wednesday, even better, we got to play another game on our home field and go straight from one game on our home field to another game on our home field to begin the World Series -
biggest worry is that Girardi has so little confidence in anyone in the bullpen besides Mariano, and with good reason.
so can we put the myth of Genius Mike Scioscia to bed finally?
[1822] Yes, it is. It'll be percuss-a-riffic! It was off-broadway in 08 and killed. So now it's getting a shot. In reviews right now. Opens in a few weeks.
And I do care!
ARod TOTALLY earned it.
He had historic numbers.
I mean, CC was great, but ARod and other-worldly.
[1826] Wow... that is SO SO cool! Fela on Broadway..he would have loved that!!
[1825] no he's still the best manager in baseball but we have a better team. This wasn't a chess match between sciosca and girardi.
Girardi has braces?!?!?!
[1827] The ring is the thing, OYF.
I want to thank the RS for giving the Yankees the opportunity to finally beat the Angels.
[1815] Give Cano some credit, too. He saved Joba from a meltdown by picking up Jeter's potential error and making the out at second. Not to mention his patience at the plate and his solid defense in general; saving at least two runs. His work tonight was yeoman, but very key to winning this game.
Listening to Mo is like hearing the words of a sage philosopher.
Mo talking smack!
[1833] Cano AND Joba with the good work tonight, I'm thrilled. If Joba & Phil are "back" to normal in the WS then the Phillies are in big trouble..talk about Nasty Boys, JobaPhilMo is enough to scare any lineup!
[1833] Amen. I love Robbie. He was rock solid tonight.
[1837] and TWO walks
[1672] Hell yes, all those Angels fans can EAT IT.
I have a pretty healthy respect for their organization, but I have NO respect for their fans. Laziest, most-chuffed with themselves, idly tap the stupid blow up sticks together undeserving pieces of crap.
Yeah, we spend a lot, but we live in the mean city, where shit is real, and life hurts sometimes. We earn this shit, every day (well, ok, for the first time, after 34 years I moved to another dirty city, DC, but my heart is still on the streets of NY).
[1834] I know.
Oh, and one more thing before bedtime... (pulling out the rerun for the pennant and hopefully the WS >;)
How crazy was that play where Robbie was in the right place for Hunter's shot up the middle? That was some divine intervention.
[1810] So what was your response to your "world is ending, it's all over for us" prophecy not coming true? Yanks in 6, what up!!!!!!
Yes, yes, Robbie was great tonight. And Damon with the nice easy line drive to plate the first two.
Swisher made a nice play out there, too.
Here's Andy.
[1842] He was trying to keep Choad close. Free agent Choad.
Man, it was nice to see Scioscia pulling the long face in his dugout. That guy whines about more pitches that are balls than anybody on earth not wearing Red Sox colors. Him - he can go get fucked.
Anyone know if I can watch the YES post-game somewhere online? Will they upload it later to their official website?
[1842] divine intervention to help god get out of the inning? that's weird shit.
God, he is such a stoner!
He fucking cracks me up!
[1849] Heh he heh eh heh he!
Because I can't stop posting random thoughts - they build up, because I'm superstitious about posting during the games, what the HECK was up with Mathis this series? How did he suddenly become Superman? That was some confounding shit, right there.
[1848] yeah, it'll all be on the website, but not until tomorrow sometime.
http://www.yesnetwork.com
[1846 and 1849] Wasn't it crazy, though? Maybe someone was apologizing to Mo for 2001.
[1853] Nice, thanks. Stuck at home today, rain & flu..want to watch all the highlights and interviews for sure. Can't wait for the previews to come.
Oh, and one more time just for fun: "LA Angels of Anaheim: we play the game the RIGHT WAY"!
[1852] See Dent, Bucky (World Series, 1978).
My uncle lives in Cleveland. He is very much anti-Yankees. He will not be too thrilled with the Lee-Sabathia matchup. Oh well. : )
I love how all my yankee-hatin met's fans (who don't choose to be apathetic) have no choice but to root for the yankees to win it. haha
They'll tell ya bullshit like "I'm not rooting for the yankees.. I'm rooting against the phils".. but that is rooting for the yanks. HAHA
Y'all got to check NoMass. Great new pics up.
I watched this one at a friend's place... just wanted to check in to say: YAY!
We are all basking now...but soon we get to banter about the WS roster. Do you think they stick with two PRs and/or three catchers? Does the BP stay the same?
[1861] I want to bask more, but please, no more Guzman.
Oooooh, and uber-douchey Yankee hater extraordinaire Steve Phillips gets shit canned.
Sure, the Giants losing and Eli going pick happy sucked, but I'd have to say that all in all this was a very good day.
[1861] phillies aren't really a running team right? i'm hoping that the combination of that and burnett's last start convinces joe to let jorge catch him. and if he does that, i see no real reason to stick with 3 catchers. i think it's fine to keep guzman and just only use him when you actually need a pinch runner. i'd switch out cervelli (even though i'd actually prefer him to molina) for hinske.
[1864] The Phillies actually run a lot and at a great rate. Utley, Victorino, Rollins and Werth are their man threats. In many ways, the two teams lineups are very similar.
[1865] interesting, but i'd still let posada catch every game, even though burnett will likely only start at yankee stadium. the phillies' lineup is good but pretty overrated. rollins and victorino are especially overrated. i'm really only worried about utley and howard, and i think even howard has some big holes in his swing.
I feel the entrails of a pissant Angels fan spilling out both sides of my triumphantly raised fist. It feels squishy. And good.
i hope hinske is on the WS roster. we can make changes for the next round...no?!
[1866] I don't know, watching Jimmy Rollins just smoke a 98mph fastball to right-field..that scared me. If he get hot then their lineup is very very tough to get through.
[1869] Statistically, Rollins doesn't live up to his rep, but if the game is on the line, I know I don't want to see him.
[1870] Utley & Howard are as scary to us as Tex & A-Rod are to them...hope Matsui can wake up in time for the Series though! And Posada...we WON and those double plays still hurt!
i think the phils will be a very phormidable phoe. it's gonna be a tough series. they have an excellent offense and play pretty good defense. outside of Lee though, they really don't have a very strong pitching staff.
[1872] Joe Blanton or Pedro in the New YS = XXXX large Score Truck delivery.
The Yankees have the better starting, way better bullpen, WAYYYY better closer...they will be favored to win on paper...
[1873] The Yankees are the better team, but the Phillies lineup does come close to matching the Yankees in power, which, all the small talk praise aside, can really be a difference maker.
yeah, the phillies' lineup definitely envokes fear in me.
hamels has been hittable, we should destroy pedro & blanton and CC should be able to match and outlast cliff lee. their pen has been good thus far in the postseason, but is no match for us.
i'll go with the Yanks in 6 again.
i can't remember if it was earlier this season or last, but our Cliff posted some really good stuff about Cliff Lee and how, at that time, he wasn't as amazing as he seemed. hopefully we'll hit him hard.
i think it might behoove us to stick with 3 starters and send CC out on short rest in Game 4.
in any case, i'm fuckin' THRILLED that we're in the WS!!!!
hell yeah!!! : )
Let's take this party to the NEW THREAD...
