Can you think of a better way to end a season?
I’m going to be on SNY’s broadcast of the Parade. Not exactly sure how it will all go down, but some time between 11-1 I’ll be on TV, suit, tie, the whole schmeer. Check it out, if you can. Oh, and if anyone can Tivo it and burn me a copy, get at me, cause I don’t have a DVR dingus, if you can believe it.
Let’s Go Yan-Kees!
12 deep at Broadway and Cortlandt at 8:35 this morning...
Enjoy the parade kids (and former kids).
Is the parade going to be available on the intertubes anywhere?
There are people who like parades and people who don't. I fall into the latter, category, though I admit to attending all the baseball parades of the previous decade. I wonder how many people attending the parade know what ticker-tape was.
that is cool alex.
[4] me too
the 6 train was extra fun this morning
I don't do parades nor do I do the cold. I'll be there in spirit. Plus, I'll be all over the city (as usual) with my handy dandy WS cap.
Have fun everybody.
Alex, I can record it, but I'm not sure I can burn it. I'll ask the IT guy aka my husband.
Thanks, Hugh [2].
Come by in the off-season, when the heat is a little lower and we can share some light...
[2] Thanks Hugh for happening upon us. You're a classy phan. We jibe, but your team is solid and fun to watch.
Come visit from time to time. We do good hot stove whining.
[7] hey, i haven't been able to keep up with the threads. Did shaun find that thread he was going to look for?
Parade is too far. Enjoy the day folks!
[3] I believe MLB.com is going to show it live - however I don't know how much of their own coverage they'll be putting over it.
[9] No, work keeps getting in the way! I'll try later.
Any chance SNY or YES will stream the parade online? Probably not.
I used to work in a building on the corner of Broadway and Wall, so I now I really miss that bird's eye view. Couldn't make it downtown today, but it should be exciting.
[7][8] I'll stop back sometime. You guys were entertaining. Mostly, I'll be commisserating at Beerleaguer.com.
[11] no worries. i've been busy myself. I was happy to win the world series. I was also kind of happy to put watching baseball games behind me for a bit. That's a lot of time we invest watching games all year. The playoffs are fun but long and I appreciate having the evenings back (especially when contented with a championship!).
[13] Take care Hugh! Thanks for stopping by!
MLB.com is showing the parade - what's with all the Yankees in trench coats? Is there rain in the forecast? Looks like an awesome day!
The parade is being showed on the MLB network (cable) if you have it. Good coverage so far.
watching yes now - good coverage there as well. Gotta believe they'll rerun it tonight
what kind of hat is a-rod wearing? Lohud was talking about it but didn't specify what it was that made it "interesting"
[19] Fedora/bowler hat hybrid, looked to me. He looks sharp.
AJ is rockin my usual wintertime combo, hooded sweatshirt with long overcoat.
The guys on mlb.com are a little, how to be kind - clueless? They don't know half the players by sight, and one of them referred to Giuliani as the former "mayor, no governor" of NY. The other guy corrected him.
[20] oh ok cool. thanks. seriously, calling Giuliani Gov is more than a bit clueless.
Yo, I've got a lap top in the studio, dressed in my best bar mitzvah suit. They put me in my own studio--the blogger stuido!--because there was no room in the other one. LOL.
Funny and strange way to watch the parade, but fun. Dude, a make up lady air brushed my face. LOL.
[22] awesome. good stuff Alex! Glad you are rocking it!
[22] Oh, is that studio in the basement? You bloggers would feel right at home, hah hahahahahah!
/Heyman
Molina and AJ are on the same float...that's hilarious.
[22] Awesome, dude! As long as the TVs in your studio are as nice as the ones in the main studio.
Tex just looks entirely thrilled - permagrin.
Sounds like CC is somewhere near Tex, just heard someone call out his name when the mlb.com camera was on Tex. Hearing it again now.
[25] Yeah, its appropriate.
I'm digging the A-Rod/Jay-Z/Frankie Brains float myself.
It's interesting, here in Rhode Island a lot of Yankee love has come shining out (though a whole lot of hatred too, of course). It seems to be coming from the "ethnic Catholic" population, namely the Italians, who are just Yankee fans by tradition, and a lot of Portuguese. I wonder if the latter are Teixeira fans.
[21] They do know a whole heck of a lot about Jay-Z though!
[28] In my "corner" of Massachusetts, there are a lot of Yankee fans of Italian descent, because of DiMaggio primarily. There's a huge (for Massachusetts) Yankee fan population around Worcester, again mostly of Italian descent and due to DiMaggio.
[30] Right, I always figured it was because of DiMaggio.
Huh, Cervelli and A-Rod are buddies. Who knew?
Oh, man, they thought they spotted Wilson Betemit.
Give these guys a FOX Sports contract!
[10] Thanks.
And we have a Minka Kelly sighting! JoAnne Garcia too before. But no Kate Hudson.
Unless they let Alex run the SNY coverage, you really have to watch YES. The network reporters probably can't spell baseball.
The Damon/Swisher float has to be the most fun.
Who is the Asian family on the float with Robbie? Any know?
[36] Eye-candy wise, indeed! But I bet the Melky-Cano float is a blast too!
Ah, Mo.
I went with my kid. Completely absurd. I hate to sound like an old man, but watching on TV was the way to go for this one.
Watching on SNY - great stuff. I'm DVRing it. Might be able to transfer it to DVD. We'l
l see.
I shouldn't complain - if it wasn't for mlb.com, I couldn't watch the parade or the ceremony live - but what passes for "analysis" by these two clowns is a joke. Ugh.
I played the beginning of the parade for my class during their spelling test. I was a bit terrifed they would catch a Janet Jackson moment. No dice, thankfully. : )
[42] Yeah. And I could barely hear the second guy. I finally had to turn it off.
Hal has good hair.
[45] Hal isn't even 40 yet, right? I think we'll have him around for a while.
Man I guess I really don't like crowds because just looking at the parade on TV makes me so happy I'm not in that mass of humanity. I'd like to be there but not like that. I'm just too regal, maybe : 0
96 days to pitchers and catchers?! That's it?!
Hey AB - I saw at least one of your segments. Well done. You're a natural, but I gotta admit. Kinda weird seeing you on the screen when we've been reading you here for so long. Kinda feel like I know you (even though you don't know me, lol).
Leave it to Cashman not to wear ANYTHING blue or Yankee related. Geez. Wassup with that?
Suzyn Waldman flashing the leather
Suzyn is kinda scaring me with that Olivia Newton John outfit from Grease,
[51] You betta shape up Coz she needs a man and her heart is set on you.
they told Arod City Hall was down by Mulberry St and he ran with that... pimpin.
[50] Pictures?
[52] haha. I remember playing bass on that tune at a high school play -- what a great tune. And the imagery of Olivia struttin in that outfit don't hurt, either.
Now, of course, that image is destroyed. thankyousuzyn.
what kind of order is this?
Okay, I've had enough of that Great Adventure Music looped in the Background!
[57] Me too. Couldn't they have done a musical montage?
Let me take this chance to say - your drawings are a thing of art.
[54] there should be some pix around later. I'm just watching the tube at work.
shawty tearing up the club in the black leather jacket and pants,
all kate hudson who? minka kelly what?
"El Capitan"? Really?
[54] after this wacky presentation, I'll rewind it and take a pic.
[57] no joke. How about the soundtrack to Rudy?
[55] i LOVED playing drums in the pit for Grease. it was in 8th grade. the band for the play, was my regular "basement" band. we played originals & covers and gigged in town, from 5th-9th grade! : )
YANKEES = WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!
[61] Thanks.
way to drop the mic before Alicia Keys' voice stopped singing, you doppelganger.
hehe... nice Sterling windmill image there, AB. And good job with the reverse psych-out Yanks repeat call.
i've never even heard this jay-z guy. i had NO idea he was from NY, a Yanks fan, or was nearly this popular. they shoulda just had Wayne Shorter instead! ; )
Thanks to mlb.com for letting me watch the parade and all, but seriously [42] who were those effing clowns doing the "analysis?" The boys looked like they a great time. So happy for them. And I'd like to have another helping of Serious, so count me in for #28.
[54] Okay.. these are camera phone pics taken from my 11-year old 27" RCA tube TV, so don't expect any Walker Evans imagery here.. hehe
here she is struttin up to get her key to the city.
and during JZ/fake Alicia Keys' performance.
[68] ahhh shit. the JayZ photo was the wrong link. here ya go
[68],[69] Thanks.
Very nice.
[54] Not the ceremony, but LoHud has some pics from the parade route.
I imagine there will be all sorts of galleries up later.
9 years ago, living in Boston, the best I could do was see ESPN2's cut-in coverage of the parade and ceremony. I had to wait until I got home for Thanksgiving to see the video tape my parents did of everything that was shown on MSG. And I bought the non-NYC editions of the Times and the Daily News the next day to see what pics they had.
We've come a long, long way from that - and its awesome!
brought this up the other day, but here's something from today's NY Post on ARod's new marketing potential.

{72} Yup, I see haberdashery endorsements in his future.
I was there for this. Its always fun
I'm watching some parade coverage on TV now. Its really not great TV material, is it?
