Colts 37, Saints 24.

No Super Bowl party here. Wife cancelled it. She won't even watch the half-time show. So long as they show Tebow, she won't allow football. I am banished to my studio. No big screen. She is watching a three part Danish flick called, "Dealer." I made beef stew. No margaritas, guac, or chile.

Hope everyone else has a good time, good food, and a good game.

Mick, is it too late for you to make it over to my place?

Bacon burgers (I'm actually going to grill them outside), avocado salad, cold beer followed by bourbon (but only if the Saints win). Steak fries, seasoned with my new Maldon salt (thanks to AB!). I have some Manhattan Chili (never heard of it but I got to try some in the Whole Foods and it was really good), but we probably won't get around to eating it.

The Saints have my heart, but my head says 34-17, Colts.

The wife called for pancakes around 2:00 pm so I made a stack o pancakes, and then dogged a pile with lingonberry jam. Then took a long walk. I was going to make a chili but don't have it in me. I made the wife a hearty farmer's house soup today so I'll have that, make a salad, have a couple of slices of salami and cheese and some day-old baguette. And to top it off, a Boylan's Ginger Ale.

Budget but it'll do the trick.

Oh, and I hope the Colts win even though I have a hunch that they won't.

Peyton looking sharp in the first quarter. Two great reads, by him, leading to big first downs on the ground.

Here comes the Saints though. Looks like they'll score here.

11 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 7, 2010 7:17 pm

Freeney with a big sack, pulling Brees down to the ground.

Saints drill a 46 yarder, drilled it.

They're in the game.

[12] thelarmis my man, how are you? long time no chat, got some good jazz news (will share later!).

What is this "Super Bowl" everyone talking bout? (just kidding, will watch the tape delay on tv here tonight.)

But if you want some baseball..i found this awesome podcast interview with Jim Bouton, really interestin. check down at 3/08/08 here http://www.edgeofsports.com/audio.html

Zirin will not appeal to everyone, obviously, but even if you don't dig his thing, the Bouton interview is great.

Only two field goals for the Saints so far? Not too good...is it raining there?

16 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 7, 2010 8:31 pm

Saints with some good fortune--on side kick--and solid O to start the second half, and now lead 13-10.

17 rbj   ~  Feb 7, 2010 8:37 pm

[16] Hey, no food coma yet. And I'm only on my second Bass Ale.

18 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 8:59 pm

19 RIYank   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:07 pm

Also: Pete Townshend is ooolllllddddd.

Great game, too.

20 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:09 pm

21 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:13 pm

[18] Thank, man! Got some new pub coming, but got to work on the site banner and update all the links first. You'll like the new banner when it's up, hint: think vibraphones...

Seems like a good game.

The Who..love their old stuff but seriously, what were the NFL thinking?

22 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:18 pm

[21] nice. i listened to some Hutch last night. thought of you!

23 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:18 pm

[21] also listened to some Funky Snakefoot. my buddy was over, setting up the new laptop for me...

24 RIYank   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:19 pm

Wow, that was a huge challenge.

25 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:21 pm

Very good game.

Saint now up 24-17.

Does Peyton have another big drive in him?

26 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:22 pm

Criminal Minds friggin' rules!

27 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:25 pm

[25] peyton is so very calm.

it's 1st down after 1st down...

28 thelarmis   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:30 pm

how 'bout some baseball now?!?!?! : )

29 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:30 pm

And that's the game...

30 rbj   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:31 pm

[28] 12 days to pitchers & catchers. And Caribbean WS is still on. I think.

31 RIYank   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:39 pm

Well, like I said [3], this is what I was hoping for, but not expecting.

Though it's not really over yet...

32 RIYank   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:44 pm

Holy smokes.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:47 pm

Good game. I'm disappointed cause I like Peyton but the Saints played mistake-free and they earned this one.

34 Raf   ~  Feb 7, 2010 9:57 pm

[30] It's still on; DR can clinch the series with a win. They were up 4-0, but now they're up 6-4. Seems to have been a pretty sloppy game from what little I've watched.
