Have you heard of the Belgian Love Shack?
I have never been but man does it ever look like a treat.
I see they serve a waffle with speculoos spread. Speculoos is a thin, sweet, ginger cookie, a traditional Belgium favorite. The last time I visited Belgium, I tried a speculoos spread and a love affair began. It is the wife’s absolute favorite sweet thing in the world–“thick and creamy, gingery, sugary, goodness,” she says. “It tastes like a spreadable, toasted marshmallow.”
Never mind Nutella. You can do some real damage with this stuff.
(cue Emily Litella)
What's all this I read about a speculum spread? Why, in my day, we didn't talk about THOSE things in public. Those conversations were between you and your lady doctor, and maybe the girls at the diner ... and maybe your husband.

[1] LOL
2 days to pitchers & catchers. And I'm due for a couple more inches of snow. Sigh.
The truck was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay and won the context.
Must. Resist. Urge. To. Click. Link. And. Buy. Delicious. Looking. Belgian. Stuff.
Wow. That truck looks awesome too. Why doesn't Boston have such wonderful things?
wow, this is just...wow. this is happening for lunch one day this week.
I've seen that cart in my neighborhood, and there's usually a long line in front of it. I've stayed away, thinking waffles and sweet toppings would just make me sleepy in the middle of a work day. But I might have to try it sometime, even if it requires a post-sugar-crash nap at my desk afterwards. I'll just put post-its on my eyes that read "Back in 30 minutes"
[3] yeah i saw that episode. thought then i should check it out. the waffles look delicious. the liege waffle they made on throwdown sounds really interesting.
[4] ah shaun - sorry man.
i think it is because "outsiders" aren't appreciated.
[4] Now that's a hole with no bottom...
That is just so wrong. Being of weak mind, I indeed clicked on that Belgium site, only to find beer and chocolate as well. All that's missing are pomme frites and mussels. Evil!
I have seen the truck and I avert my eyes. I'll have to give it a try when I feel deserving.
P & C!!!
i've never had a marshmallow! hell, i didn't even know it was spelled with an "-ow" til just now...
in england, i used to love getting these chicken & mushroom type pastries every morning. i think they call 'em "pasties" there, which is just...wrong and weird. anyway, it was like a hand-held, pocket chicken pot pie to go. only cost 1 pound, only made you gain about 3. that's all i can add to the overseas food thing...
I work out at the West Side YMCA on W. 63rd and it's TORTURE walking by that truck on the way back to the subway! Bastards!
Dude, I went to the YMCA summer camp on 63rd one summer. It was 1982 or 83. I remember THRILLER and SYNCRONICITY were out, and that was when I first heard rap records--SUCKA MCS by RUN DMC and BUFFALO GALS by MALCOLM MCLAREN.
Apparently, you can find out where the truck will be and when ...

That Malcolm McLaren ditty is killer! Love that tune!
Started at that YMCA because my brother worked there, got a deal on my membership. He left...my membership went up, dangit!. He's over at the Walter Reade Theater now. But were it not for him, I'd probably be hanging out gorging on the sweet delights of the Belgian Love Shack and NOT working it off on some cardio equipment! HEE HEE!
14) I think it was your bro who hooked me up to see Bridges at Walter Reade. Didn't get a chance to meet him but we swapped e-mails and he's a swell guy.
YES! It was, Glenn is my brother. I do recall him mentioning that. So glad he could get those for you.
Oh, he was the coolest.
My old man's water hole used to be The Ginger Man, which is right down the block from you. It re-opened as O'Neals and is still there.
One of my kids went to that YMCA summer camp on 63rd Street for 2 summers. The second summer, he turned into the devil incarnate. I had to perform an emergency exorcism one morning on the way to camp. He oddly turned it around after we left that place.
Creepy in retrospect.
