Well, the NYer in me says, what they hell do they know from pastrami in Oregon--OF ALL PLACES!--but stranger things have happened, and I sure would like to find out for myself. Next time I'm in Oregon...LOL

Thanks for the link, dog.

The NYTimes called Kenny and Zukes one of the best Jewish delis, anywhere. So there.

If you have a chance to look at some reviews in the Times on the Portland food scene, I think you will be surprised.

Anyway, you're welcome. That's from one foodie to another, from my neck of the woods to yours.

Dude, I'm just being a reactionary fuggin NYC snob. I TOTALLY believe in great food or great anything can come from anywhere.

Oh yeah, I totally got that. I like to sling the same attitude about Portland.

AB, I'm in your debt. I'd skimmed past that headline in the NYT, but read it thanks to your link -- and I live 10 minutes from Neal's Deli. Will check it out ASAP and report.

This all reminds me of the Mitch Hedberg line. He gets a pastrami sandwich at a Jewish deli, the counterman says "Can I get you anything else?" and he replies, "Yeah - a loaf of bread and some other people."
