people used to gather here during games, no?

2 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:22 pm

[1] that was long ago and far away, in another age entirely...

3 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:23 pm

nick johnson walked. i'm shocked!

i guess you can say, nick has a knack for walking. guess it helps him avoid injuries associated with skipping, jogging, running or even moving in a hie...

4 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:24 pm

tex in april. what a horrendous pairing.

5 51cq24   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:32 pm

[3] he also seems to have a knack for fouling pitches off himself. i don't think i've ever seen someone do it so often.

6 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:35 pm

Oops, I was in the wrong thread.
Afternoon, Teamosaurus.

7 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:36 pm

AJ looking pretty good so far...

8 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:41 pm

that looked deep on the gamecast

9 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:42 pm

[8] Just in front of the warning track.

10 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:43 pm

gave it a ride, just to the wrong spot.

11 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:46 pm

hate the result of that, but i love how the Nick's see so many pitcher per AB

12 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:48 pm

Gardy! Speed kills.

13 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:49 pm

i'm assuming that gritner was lightning up the basepath

14 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:49 pm

[12] i wonder if he likes speed metal. i know i do! : )

15 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:52 pm

it'll be a big letdown if we don't score any runs here

16 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:52 pm

Jorgie, not lighting up the basepath.

17 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:53 pm

It's Nick Johnson. He'll walk a run in, at least. ;-)

18 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:56 pm

win, lose, or walk!

that was actually an easy call.

19 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:57 pm

it's time, Tex. make your entrance to the season a grand one...

20 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:58 pm

People used to know who Joe Walsh was too.

21 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:58 pm

i'll take it!

22 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:59 pm

[20] i've always known who he was. got any gum?

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 1:59 pm

Damn it, he just missed.

24 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:00 pm

Feldman at 61 pitches.

25 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:00 pm

61 pitches thru 2 innings. pathetic and embarrassing. in fact, i'd go as far as saying these ballclubs are disgraceful and should be ashamed of themselves.

26 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:00 pm

[22] Dude.... do you know the album
"Child is Father to the Man"?

27 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:01 pm

i hope the long layoff doesn't throw AJ off his game

28 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:02 pm

[26] no. sue me.

29 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:04 pm

Why can't Jorgie catch the baseball?
He is a catcher, is he not?

30 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:04 pm

Hey kids. Chill day at home. Recording session tamara so I'll watch today's game. How is everyone?

31 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:05 pm

Thome hit his 565th homer.

32 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:07 pm

[30] have fun in the studio tomorrow! i had 2 gigs last night and 1 tomorrow morning. i was called to play in Albeturkey tonight, but there's no logistical way that could happen. the gig got canceled and is now back on. i'll get some practicing in later...

33 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:08 pm

[30] Fine here. Back from errands. A bit chilly here, the weather report for SE Michigan tonight actually included the word "sleet".

34 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:08 pm

i don't like the leadoff walk, but i'll take the backwards K there. and now the 9th hitter...

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:08 pm

God, Jorgie fucking sucks back there.

36 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:09 pm

i'm not real pleased w/ the wild pitch putting a runner in scoring position. at least it's a catcher on the basepaths

37 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:11 pm

My first day of spring break spent 2 hours walking the dog in cold ass weather. Saw some flurries. Watched an inning of a little league game. A tad frustrating watching 10 year olds with better skills than my JV team. Ugh. Slam the door, AJ. Good.

38 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:11 pm

[36] That was scored a wp? I mean, I guess, it did bounce and all, but that was eminently blockable.

39 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:12 pm

Maybe Cervelli should be AJ's personal catcher. The wildest pitcher in the league is not a good combo with an almost 40-year-old catcher.

40 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:12 pm

nice

41 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:12 pm

[28] Sue you? What's your social security number?
Look it up (the album) and see if you can download it.

42 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:13 pm

[38] yeah, that's what it said on gamecast. i can't see it, but i'm sure it was jorgie's fault!

43 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:13 pm

The good thing about Jorge's defense is that Montero shouldn't be too shocking.

44 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:15 pm

[41] oh, those guys are great. i believe i've played some of their tunes before.

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:15 pm

At least he's hitting. Nice hit, Jorgie.

46 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:16 pm

jorgie sure can hit though!

47 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:18 pm

Christ..... Jorge tumbles into 3rd base!

48 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:19 pm

Jorge has another gear?

49 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:19 pm

Feldman gets the hook. He's only at 73 pitches.

50 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:22 pm

AL Cooper founded 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' but left after that one album. They then became a bit of a pop band. Still good, but the Cooper album is classic. A bit eclectic, so it is more of a musicians album. Rock band, horns and strings. Great arrangements. Made in 1968, but would be considered ahead of it's time if it was released now.

51 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:22 pm

9 baserunners and only 2 runs. i hope we destroy their pen. starting now...

52 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:24 pm

haha -- I was about to criticize Posada for not being able to take 2 bases, and there he goes. THANK you, Jorge, for not making Grandy stop at 1st.

53 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:24 pm

Speed scores!

54 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:24 pm

[50] Al Kooper's great. my parents are big fans and go see him in the city a lot. i didn't know he was part of blood, sweat & tears.

not a rock band, behind the horns, but i'm a BIG Tower of Power fanatic! i listened to In The Slot a few days ago on my ipod. i LOVE that album!!! Garibaldi is a Drum God!

55 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:24 pm

Man o man.... that wasn't even close at 1st. Speed kills!

56 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

Go Lil' G.

57 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

Wow.
Texas sucks at baseball.

58 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

Rangers aren't very good fielders, are they?

59 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

I love this speed. forces the D to make rushed throws, etc. Nice.

60 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

Ron's gonna need a bump after this game. Yikes.

61 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:25 pm

Wow, what crappy defense.

62 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:26 pm

[60] ouch! but hilarious! remember, he only did that once...

63 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:27 pm

Oh CAPTAIN!

64 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:27 pm

Man!
Derek SMOKED that motherfucker!
I love when he turns on a pitch!

65 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:27 pm

Jeter!

66 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:27 pm

Look at him bring those hands in.
Wow.

67 randym77   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:27 pm

Sweet, Jete.

68 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:28 pm

lotsa infield singles in this game. shallow singles and regular singles, too...

69 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:28 pm

fuck those singles!

JETERIAN!!!

70 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:29 pm

[54] I went to college with Adolfo Acosta, who played with Maynard [RIP] and for the last (8 years?) has been with ToP. sweet.

71 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:34 pm

Did I say Cooper? I'm thinking (Cecil) baseball. KOOPER (who also did 'Super Session' ) was not a 'part' of BST, he founded them and put them together. Tower is good... more power then BST, but the Kooper BST album is totally on a different level. It's art as much as music.

A great but short lived horns band was "Lighthouse". Had a big hit called "One Fine Morning" (classic). "Edgar Winter's White Trash" was my fav horns band for pure kick ass, high energy, great show. Edgar is an AMAZING talent.

72 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:37 pm

[70] coolio. i'm not familiar w/ that horn player's name. i saw ToP about 2 years ago in Mexico. i'm guessing that guy was in the band then...

Maynard was great. gregg bissonette kicked ass on the Live in San Fran album in 1983.

there was a band from Queens called White Trash that had horns. heavier edged, but really great stuff!

73 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:38 pm

i'm loving this AJ. i hope he keeps it up for the entire game (and season, of course...)

74 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:40 pm

Yay-Rod!

75 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:40 pm

another long national nightmare put to rest!

A-ROD!!!

76 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:40 pm

goddamn. looked like a tapper. And it's... OUTTA HERE! Nice one, Alex!

77 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:41 pm

and that moves him past McGwire . . .

78 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:41 pm

ARod's power going the other way is just silly.

79 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:41 pm

Man, he didn't even get all of that. Sweet.

80 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:46 pm

After this year, Alex with be 6th all time.... and still paying at a high level.

81 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:48 pm

If this were the 'always' AJ, our rotation would be just sick.

82 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:51 pm

[73] my bad

83 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:52 pm

ya know, I do find it rather convenient to have the pitch count up there on the bug. Nice work, jes netwerk.

84 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:54 pm

Straight cheese. Now roll a pair.

85 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:56 pm

[83] yeah, i saw highlights while on my gig last night, and dug that on-screen box. too bad i don't have the yes network. then again, i'd never get anything done...

86 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:57 pm

aj just wanting to set up a force at every base, thazzall...

87 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:57 pm

dammit. c'mon AJ. settle down and induce a groundy to DJ.

88 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:58 pm

that'll work, too.

89 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 2:58 pm

nice! now, get outta this...

90 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:00 pm

Atta boy, AJ!

91 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:00 pm

Nice Houdini act, AJ.

92 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:00 pm

just wanted it to be exciting for us, I suppose.

93 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:01 pm

beautiful, aj!

83 pitches thru 5. he should certainly be able to get thru 6, maybe into the 7th. his in-game WHIP is 1 and he's striking out a batter per inning. no runs. me likey!

94 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:02 pm

Wow.
Amazing what speed can do.

95 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:04 pm

Get 'em started young.

96 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:06 pm

Unfuckingbelievable.

97 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:06 pm

Madness! Out methinks.

98 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:06 pm

that's sweet -- kinda looked out, but hey! we'll take it!

99 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:08 pm

How can you not enjoy watching Gritner. Christ... if he actually learns to hit the ball OUT of the infield, he could be dangerous.

100 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:09 pm

The bases are loaded on infield singles. Amazing.

101 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:09 pm

That is "small ball"

102 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:09 pm

this has to be some kind of record for infield singles - in an inning, in a game, both teams, what have you. i smell a Diane Bantermetrics post a-comin'!

Bronx Bunters

103 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:11 pm

bollocks. i woulda loved more runs there...

gritner has 3 infield singles on the day, 2 to the pitcher. he's over .300 now...

104 Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:12 pm

There is a young, black girl who appears to be an employee I keep seeing in the good seats. Just beautiful. Now back to the ball game.

105 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:19 pm

Woot!

106 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:21 pm

Teix is really out of sync.

107 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:25 pm

hey this is cute.. check out what my wife did for my son yesterday (his birthday).

108 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:27 pm

AJ at 99 pitches. send him out for the 7th or go to the pen?

[104] there was one at my gig last night that was to die for...

109 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:30 pm

[107] that RULED! you're a lucky guy...

110 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:30 pm

[107] Awwwwww!!
So dear!

111 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:33 pm

what a fucking scoop! love it. Can always count on Tex on D, anyway...

112 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:35 pm

Nice outing by AJ.

113 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:35 pm

Sweet! Great job, AJ!

7 innings, 7 K's, 2 BB's, 6 hits, 111 pitches. NO runs!!! 2.37 ERA. should go to 2-0.

i smell Boone Logan for the 8th...

114 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:48 pm

goddammit. fuggin'ell

115 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:48 pm

Crud!

116 The Hawk   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:51 pm

Things are going so well for the Yanks thus far it's making me nervous. They're coming off a Series win, they've beaten their two division rivals and the cross-continent boogieman. Win win win win win. I feel like there is an shoe out there waiting to be dropped - probably injury related.

Fingers crossed it doesn't happen!

117 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 3:59 pm

whew. well, better to give up a few runs after establishing a big lead.

[116] shhhhh... I worry about that, too. Like they say: if it looks too good to be true.... I like that the Yanks have been quietly winning series, but not sweeping them. If we had an 8- or 9-game win streak plus, then that big fiery eye (a la lord of the rings) of the national media will start hating double-time. And let's face it, they never really shut that eye... and they never really STOP hating. It's just more burdening during the runs.

118 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:01 pm

ugh on the Vulture. logan for the 9th?

119 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:02 pm

[116] stop that! plus, Cruz is en fuego.

[117] Mordor!!!!

120 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:02 pm

Joba, apparently.

121 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:07 pm

why do people insist on "two thousand ten"? twenty-ten! Save yoself time!

122 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:12 pm

standing & clapping!

123 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:13 pm

theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees Win!

124 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:14 pm

well helloooooo Kim.

125 NYYfan22   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:15 pm

mkay, going into the backyard to play baseball with JJ. See you all later.

126 thelarmis   ~  Apr 17, 2010 4:16 pm

[121] i actually like "two thousand ten" better than 20-10.

as my grandma used to say: "that's what makes horseraces!" (i have no idea what that means...)

now, 20-20 = there's a set of numbers i like! hope Granderson makes it for us!
