Rain.
Bah.

2 Diane Firstman   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:01 pm

the "Wednesday Game of the Week" .... sounds strange

3 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:29 pm

Hello to the few.
These BaltO-Yanks games seem like bloodless workmanlike affairs. With CC on the mound, we can expect the usual dismantling of the birds.

4 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:31 pm

Careful, Po.

5 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:32 pm

Oh great, an URP tomorrow.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled their top outfield prospect, Jose Tabata, after he batted .308 with three home runs and 25 stolen bases at Triple-A Indianapolis.

7 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:54 pm

Evening, Team! We got baseball!

8 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:54 pm

A 'SS out of position' single for Jeter.

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:54 pm

It appears that reports of Cap'n Jeter's demise were greatly exaggerated ...

10 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:56 pm

Shit. Jeter slowing down with age.

11 monkeypants   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:57 pm

Ouch, it coulda been two on with no outs. Damned predetermined outcome!

12 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:57 pm

[10] He really is. We're none of us getting any younger, alas.

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:58 pm

Teix just doesn't know if he's coming or going up there.

14 monkeypants   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:58 pm

[10] He's 6-8 this year after 30-35 last year. Sometimes the throw just beats the runner.

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:59 pm

I'm sorry, there's no excuse for taking that pitch.
That's a pitch Robbie drives into the left center field gap.
Sweet pitch.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 7:59 pm

[14] No, but you can see that he's slower. His foot-speed.

17 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:00 pm

[14] He looked to have gotten a pretty good jump.

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:02 pm

*I'd* like to tell Kim Jones ... "I'm a BUNS guy!"

19 monkeypants   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:03 pm

[16] I can't see anything up here except Toronto v. TB. And Sterling-Waldman certainly don't describe the game action. In any case, slower or not he still steals bases at more or less the same fine rate. It doesn't really matter how he does it, does it?

20 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:03 pm

[16] Yeah, that ... or maybe it's a slow track after the rain

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:04 pm

[17] Actually, it looked like he *hadn't* gotten a very good jump and the announcers made a point of it ...

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:09 pm

[20] Good point.
[17] I know, I heard Kenny say that, but it looked pretty good to me. The point is, he would have beaten it out in his younger days, but whatever.

23 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:10 pm

Jesus Christ, does nobody teach the concept of hitting the cutoff man???

FUCK.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:11 pm

[23] I know. He had no play at the plate.

25 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:16 pm

I bet Earl Weaver was one.

26 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:16 pm

Earl Weaver and Davey Johnson!

27 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:17 pm

I <3 Robbie!

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:17 pm

Child's play, this hitting thing, eh, Robbie?

29 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:19 pm

AHH HAHHHAHA HA HA!

30 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:21 pm

Good swing at that curve, Curtis!

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:22 pm

Again with the curve!

Great AB, Curtis!

Beautiful!

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:23 pm

It's really coming down.

33 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:25 pm

Dang official game now.

34 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:26 pm

Hank Bauer was the other one. 57-23

35 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:27 pm

[33] Uh, only bottom of the 4th.

36 Diane Firstman   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:27 pm

DEVO "Beautiful World" in the background at Camden Yards .... cool!

37 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:28 pm

Ah, I missed an inning. Not official yet.

38 rbj   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:33 pm

Way to go Kevin.

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:33 pm

All right Russo, you're now 1 for 2 in the baseball fundamentals!

40 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:33 pm

That's a weird bunt.

41 Diane Firstman   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:33 pm

like "a butterfly with sore feet"

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:37 pm

Damn, probably out if it weren't for the weather conditions ...

43 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:42 pm

Damn, how slow is Tejada!

44 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:47 pm

Tabata hitting 2 for 3 tonight for Pittsburgh

45 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:49 pm

my god, Cano is 2 for 2 again. That kid is so unreal when he is on.

46 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:49 pm

I don't know what Teix is trying to accomplish up there.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:50 pm

Into the fucking dragnet, every time.
Maybe he should start wearing #25.

48 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:50 pm

[46] what do you mean?

49 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:51 pm

hi team. the o's infield should just donate their gloves.

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:52 pm

[48] He's swinging like a wild man. Constantly fooled, constantly off-balance.
Just chill and try to hit the baseball, for starters.

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:53 pm

Evening, Ms. O.
Talk some sense into Teix, would you?

Hahahah!!
They're not good with the leather, are they?

52 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:54 pm

[50] ok. i can't see him swing so they looked like good swings to me. haha. thanks

53 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:54 pm

A situation where almost anything gets a run in, even a double play. Thats usually how you find out if its going to be one of those games (TM)

54 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:55 pm

SLASHER last time, I'm calling RIPPER here!

55 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:58 pm

Even Robbie's crap somehow gets through!

56 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 8:59 pm

When you're hot, you're HOT!

Though even if that was pulled, I can't really call RIPPER on that one.

57 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:00 pm

i love robbie

58 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:01 pm

It's never pretty when Brains are exposed ...

62 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:06 pm

[60] Orioles are to baseball as Timmah Mac/Joe Buck are to...

I think I remember that from my SATs back in the day..

63 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:07 pm

Well... the O's only misplayed 3 balls that inning.

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:07 pm

[62] water : wet :: The Orioles : ???

=)

65 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:08 pm

[63] and we only scored two runs. yikes!

66 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:10 pm

What up, gang? How's the big fella been looking? I've only caught the Yankee ab's.

67 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:11 pm

Kay's habit of going through the same stories and talking points every single game are why I'm glad Jonny Gomes is out of the league

68 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:11 pm

[66] Eh. But good enough

69 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:12 pm

[65] Rob Neyer In Game Analysis: "It's obvious the Yankees don't care about clutch hitting.." ooops, that joke long beaten into the ground..ok, back to work for Mr. Jazz. Go Go Yankees!

70 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:15 pm

[69] oh shit serious? wowzer.

71 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:17 pm

I don't like the idea of baseball players being so much younger than me. That needs to stop.

72 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:24 pm

Love watching A-Rod make that long throw. Whooooooshhhhh.

73 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:30 pm

C'mon big guy ... let's get this last out here!

74 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:30 pm

I've had "The Night the Drove Old Dixie Down" stuck in my head all inning. I'm not sure what, if anything this has to do with the game, but if it does, its probably not good.

75 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:32 pm

NICE PITCH!!!!

76 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:33 pm

Atta boy, CC!

78 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:34 pm

[74] Robertson's from Alabama. Good thing he didn't have to come into the game there!

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:34 pm

[72] It never gets old. Fucking howitzer.

80 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:35 pm

Indians put up a 7 spot in the 8th against Sox bullpen. Ha.

81 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:40 pm

[80] Yeah, I've been watching that one. Very entertaining. They'd put up six and batted around before the Sox recorded an out! And the Tribe is still batting. It's very embarrassing.

82 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:43 pm

for chrissakes mk that was very foul.

83 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:44 pm

86 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:49 pm

87 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:49 pm

[84] you settled in from your move yet?

88 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:50 pm

Big run.
Now I feel confident!
Also, Justin Masterson finished the game, CG shutout. That must feel good.

89 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:53 pm

That's what yer here for Rook ... get that run into scoring position, any way you can!

90 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:54 pm

[87] Indeed. Thanks for asking. I've done stuff in the last 3 weeks I never had to worry about before.
Mailed the first of 30 years of mortgage payments yesterday. Whoo-eeeee.

91 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:56 pm

[90] love the use of indeed :}
glad to hear you have settled in. congrats - that is exciting!

92 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:57 pm

[88] And the Sox ONLY get 2 hits against their boy. Two!

93 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 9:59 pm

[88] Revenge is a dish best served as a shutout. Sweet.

94 ms october   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:00 pm

holy christ what a catch kid.

95 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:00 pm

ha. eventually they were going to start with the IBBs to Cano.

106 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:17 pm

btw, I almost expect Robbie to swing at one. YOu know, Robbie style.

107 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:23 pm

One.

108 RIYank   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:24 pm

Two.

109 seamus   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:24 pm

Tabata was 2 for 4 with a walk and a stolen base. I hope he can be good for the Pirates. Bring a little excitement to the games. Though, the only game I've made this year was a 3 hour rain delay where I left before the first pitch. I had other priorities I guess.

110 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2010 10:25 pm

All rise. Word!

FYI... from ESPN:
Gardner arrived in the Yankees clubhouse with his thumb tightly wrapped in adhesive tape. An X-ray of the thumb taken just before the game came back negative. Gardner said he underwent treatment earlier in the day and the injury had responded somewhat.

"There's nothing going on in there like last year," said Gardner, who suffered the break last July when his thumb slammed against second base while trying to break up a double play. "Hopefully, it's nothing and I'll just be day to day."
