Meh.

2 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:20 pm

Roibal is amazing. Just a few lines, and there is no doubt whatsoever who it is.

3 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:23 pm

Now THAT'S a punch-out. Sweet.

4 Jersey   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:28 pm

Two innings, 21 pitches, 14 strikes = a good start.

5 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:32 pm

Here we go.
Come on, Brett, fire up that Score Truck.

6 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:34 pm

Come on, Brett Frankie, fire up that Score Truck.

7 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:35 pm

Fuck.

8 rbj   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:35 pm

Not this time Frankie. Oh well, it's early.

9 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:41 pm

Wow.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Andy Pettitte really is that good.

10 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:45 pm

[2] agreed.

[9] agreed.

off to bring in thai noodles for din-din! i'll be firing up the score truck, hope it makes its pinstriped delivery for when i get back!

11 rbj   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:49 pm

There goes the no-no.

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:49 pm

That's that.

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:49 pm

[10] You'd better bring enough for everybody.

14 rbj   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:54 pm

Oy.

15 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:54 pm

Oh, jesus.
Get well soon, centaur.

16 51cq24   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:55 pm

did none of the announcers notice that that hit right off the lip of the grass and stayed glued to the ground because of it?

17 RIYank   ~  Jun 17, 2010 7:59 pm

Well, that's good. Good way to avoid the Error problem.

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:06 pm

Bats need hats.

19 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:10 pm

wtf? i did my part. where the hell is the score truck???

oh, and fuck boston. just let the damn snakes win a frickin' game...

20 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:12 pm

why didn't russo get another start at 3rd?

21 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:15 pm

oh no. total bollocks. : (

22 ms october   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:18 pm

[20] what hand does the philly pitcher throw with?

23 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:20 pm

[22] ringo.

24 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:22 pm

Can we hop in the time travel score truck and lose to Halladay and win the next 2? OY!

25 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:22 pm

[22] but he is "unfamiliar" to us...

26 ms october   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:22 pm

[23] girardi's obsession with handedness is going to for the most part have pena in against rhp and russo against lhp - he might mix that up on occasion - but that's the pattern.

we need our regular drivers for the scoretruck.

27 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:26 pm

[26] acha. he should just throw russo out there for each game a-rod can't field, and see what happens. it's gotta be better than el nino...

28 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:30 pm

heyward just tied the rays here in very hotlanta

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:33 pm

[27] Neither inspires much confidence, really ...

30 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:35 pm

I don't expect them to be upfront with the media about it, but if Arod is going to be limited all season, I hope the Yankees are feverishly looking at trades.

31 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:40 pm

Jeter is back in a slump. This offense is pretty much dependent on Swisher and Cano.

32 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:41 pm

[29] listening to a really unique/sick/cool ron carter bass solo on a weird/cool/rare horace silver blue note cd from the 70's - silver 'n percussion.

33 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:45 pm

holy crap - a baserunner. : o

34 ms october   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:46 pm

alright robbie - time to do your thing.

35 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:47 pm

[32] don't know that one! Link please? :)

Go Lakers!!

36 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:47 pm

I call SLASHER here.

37 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:47 pm

Tie it up, Robbie.

38 ms october   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:47 pm

a run, a run!!

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:47 pm

[36] Well, RIPPER will do ...

40 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:50 pm

[35] no link - i got it in the mail today! from your adopted country. i'm very psyched. horace had a series of these kinds of BN records in the 70's - Silver 'n ______ : percussion, brass, strings, etc. i had NO idea any were on cd. i lucked upon the percussion one. quite fitting, huh! i'll have to see if the others are available. if so, it's only jap release. they usually have an english pullout in the booklet, but this does not. it's a really great/different kind of record. there's cool vocal chants on there, too. al foster on drums. horace's solos and ron carter's crazy sinewy playing are highlights!

41 ms october   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:50 pm

god damnit that fucker caught it.

42 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:51 pm

Nice catch. Now eat shit, Placido.

43 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:52 pm

[40] That series sounds superb, will check it out here for sure!

Al Foster & Ron Carter...how could you go wrong with ANY record featuring those two guys?

44 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:54 pm

[43] if you find anything out - esp on cd, please let me know!!! i had a list from an old english bn collector guy and he had, i believe, the whole series on vinyl. but it's attached to my old email on my old laptop and i can't access it. i hope to be able to sometime this summer...

45 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 8:54 pm

Nice play by Polanco, shitty, shitty at bat from Swisher ...

46 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:02 pm

Does Girardi realize that this is the 7th, not the 9th inning?

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:03 pm

This game is giving me a bad case of the UGHS.

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:05 pm

Alright, that's one ... just need one more here Andy!

49 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:08 pm

Sweep the leg, Andy!

50 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:08 pm

Atta boy, 'Ol Boy.

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:08 pm

DANDY, ANDY!

52 JeremyM   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:09 pm

Andy really has balls of steel.

53 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:16 pm

Inning over....Gardner was the only chance in this inning.

54 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:19 pm

Hurry, MK! They are putting together good ab's. DAMN!!

55 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:22 pm

How does Pena not have the take sign with 3 balls? He is just awful. The Yankees need to wake up and realize they can't be giving away outs. They need to find another player capable of playing 3B because Alex looks like he is going to be an issue all season. Cashman has really done a poor job with the roster this season.

56 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:23 pm

Jimenez wins 13th game, drops ERA to 1.15
And this guy pitches half his games in Colorado? Sick!

57 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:31 pm

Hey, howz about a comeback?

58 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:33 pm

[56] When Strasburg was getting raves for his 0.98 ERA in the minors, Jiminez actually had a 0.88 ERA in the majors. He really has been amazing.

59 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:38 pm

Jeter has been completely overmatched of late.

60 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:38 pm

Is "horrendous" too strong a word to describe Jeter this week?

61 JeremyM   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:38 pm

Jeter seems to be in another slump, just when it seemed he was getting back on track.

62 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:39 pm

[55] I smell the return of Betemit.

63 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:39 pm

[61] Perhaps getting on track was really facing the Orioles and Indians?

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:40 pm

Yeah, it's turning into a peeing Angel type of game ... blech.

65 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:40 pm

[58] I Jiminez him on MLB last week. Had never really seen him before. A tall, lanky, easy throwing dude. Effortless hard cheese. Nasty stuff.
And now this with Contreras? Just salt in the wound.

66 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:42 pm

[62] watch your mouth!

67 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:42 pm

Maybe Tex is waiting for July? This offense is absolutely dead. Maybe they can petition for more games against last place teams?

68 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:42 pm

If we don't embarrass Lidge I'm going to be furious. Another awful game from this team.

69 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:45 pm

Soccer fans would love the Yankees offense these last 2 games.

70 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:46 pm

Yep...it's Joba time.

71 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:46 pm

Oh, Farmaduke...

72 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:46 pm

Well, that's a great start to the inning Joba ...

73 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:47 pm

Girardi is an awful manager.

74 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:47 pm

Don't worry Yankees ... the fans are just saying "BOOOOOO-URNS!!!"

"BOOOOOOOO-URNS!!!"

75 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:48 pm

Maybe the Yankees should think twice about having boxing events if they can't protect the field.

76 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:48 pm

[69] :)

77 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:49 pm

Looks like Boston is only two games out.

78 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:49 pm

Have I mentioned that I'm really not a Joba Chamberlain fan?

79 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:50 pm

Joba throwing 91 should be a clear signal to Girardi that he should not be in this game.

Girardi really has no clue, which is why this team doesn't win when they don't play great, which luckily is more often than not.

80 Raf   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:51 pm

[67] Can't really say the offense is dead when they scored 9-9-8-3 over their last 4 games...

81 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:52 pm

[80] I'll give them Halladay, but the Astros are an awful team.

82 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:53 pm

What was the point of even brining him...Joba simply is not reliable enough to be a late inning reliever.

83 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:55 pm

[82] Then they need to trade him. Fat Farnsworth on the team offers nothing but a distraction

84 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:55 pm

[77] yes, and folks here were telling me not to worry about them. i've never stopped worrying... : /

85 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:57 pm

The AL East is getting mighty tight.

86 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 9:57 pm

The reason Robertson couldn't pitch a second inning was?

87 Raf   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:01 pm

[86] Given Girardi's usage, it seems that bullpen guys can't go more than one inning. Only Aceves, Gaudin and Mitre can pitch more than one inning.

88 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:01 pm

[86] This is so much more exciting.

89 Raf   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:03 pm

[87] I'm sure pitching Robertson in the 8th instead of the 7th and Joba in the 9th instead of the 8th represents out of the box thinking for Girardi...

90 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:03 pm

[87] Nope...much better to play bullpen roulette than stick with an effective reliever. Girardi is such a poor manager, he actually makes Manuel look like a genius.

91 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:05 pm

When's the last time the Yankees had 2 consecutive sac flies?

92 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:06 pm

Having three runs tacked on to Joba's ERA is actually a small consolation for me in this game.

93 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:08 pm

I'm not defending Joba's performance, but the single through the bunt defense wasn't his fault. That and the bad call at second mitigate things a bit. But the days of him being a clear asset are done. I wonder what the Yankees are gonna do with the guy.

94 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:08 pm

I hope this means Marte wont be available tomorrow.

95 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:09 pm

[93] Everyone has always talked about how not making the Johan deal worked out, but in reality, the Yankees could have dealt Joba for Santanna and still signed Sabathia (passing on Burnett instead). In retrospect, it's a shame the Yankees didn't trade Joba when his value was absurdly high.

96 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:09 pm

[64] You want to see Boone Logan?

97 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:10 pm

[93] They'll pretend its working for a couple years and then eventually he'll go away.

98 Raf   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:11 pm

[93] Given Joba's peripherals, I doubt that "the days of him being a clear asset are done."

99 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:11 pm

[95] Yeah but at the time he seemed like a phenom on the verge. At the time he was a lot better. It's too bad but who would have thought he'd sink so low? Forget dominant starter; forget decent starter; forget dominant reliever; forget decent reliever. He can't even be a halfway decent reliever.

100 Just Fair   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:13 pm

I love when the Yankees are the cure to another team's offensive malaise.

[98] Tooptimistic.

102 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:14 pm

[99] I was the first to say he was an untouchable, but in retrospect, it would have been nice had they dealt him.

103 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:17 pm

[102] In retrospect that was such a high we were all on. I'm not saying it was without reason but it was like that feeling when you're doing really well at Monopoly.

104 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:19 pm

Hey, MK's blind squirrel found a nut!

105 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:19 pm

Arod does not look healthy. If that's the case, the Yankees are in huge trouble.

106 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:19 pm

Jeter is such a valuable player/ump. Has there ever been such a thing before?

107 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:19 pm

Are you FUCKING kidding me Charlie???

108 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:20 pm

[105] Dude I was just thinking the same thing. Except I didn't have an "if" in there ...

109 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:20 pm

What would be so wrong about the umpire's using circumstantial evidence to make the call? If I see Derek Jeter go down to field a ball about three feet off to left, I think it's safe to say that the ball was redirected. I actualyl applaud the umpire for using a little intelligence in making the call.

110 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:23 pm

Okay, lets just put this one behind us. Sweep the Mets this weekend.

111 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:24 pm

These last two games were an absolute disgrace. The results were bad enough, but the effort was pathetic. Hopefully, the Yankees wake up before getting embarassed by the Mets over the weekend.

112 thelarmis   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:24 pm

bollocks.

GO LAKERS!!!

(down by 6 at halftime...)

113 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:24 pm

Well on the bright side the Phillies took two of three at the Stadium last year and then the Yanks beat them in the WS. May history repeat itself.

114 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:25 pm

Oh, well, that was a tainted rat turd of a game ... off to root for the Lakers and Boston somehow *both* losing ...

Hopefully the Mets will bring some relief ...

115 The Hawk   ~  Jun 17, 2010 10:25 pm

I hate the Lakers but I guess I hope they win.

116 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 17, 2010 11:00 pm

[115] It's a tough one for me ... Normally, I'd root against the Celtics and Boston fans everywhere, but living in LA, I can't tell you how much Laker fan irritate me ... and those flags, those stupid fucking flags ...
