After last night, let’s hope the Yanks have a big, ol’ feast tonight.
Pile it deep and high.
Let’s Go Yan-Kees!

Rays leading the O's; Sox play tonight...
ohhh... was contemplating pizza tonight, now I'm not so sure.
Speaking of pizza, if you're ever in the Bronx at last/first stop of the 5 train (Dyre Ave), there's a place called Mario's Pizza a few doors down from the subway entrance. Nice big NY slices with good form, texture and a good taste. I'm not a fan of brick oven pizza and that seems to be the popular style now, so this place is a relief for me. It's priced like Manhattan brick oven pizza, but take it from me it's worth it; if you like authentic Bronx style and you're not snobbish about decor, this place is a treat and a member of a dying breed.
Um, this was not a paid blurb or favor or anything, I just like their pizza >;)
[1] Ellsbury sent back to the DL after his collision with Tommy Hunter of the Rangers.
Do you think there more player injuries than usual this season?
How do they cook their pizzas, if not in a brick oven?
YES guys finally figuring out how to pronounce "Ka`aihue." Sort of.
Yo.
I have to watch the Little League New England regional finals. Sorry.
Go RI!
They pumping air in from right field? WTF!
Hi folks ...
betemit beating us up. double steal w/ po & a-rod. the weirdness continues...
1-zip royales
You can't bring a vuvuzela into Yankee Stadium, but they are giving out whistles?
Losing to this change-up throwing clown twice in 5 weeks or so cannot happen.
[4] The omega directive doesn't allow me to say much...
Why aren't that sitting on that slop? Just mind-boggling.
i like the aggressive running on kendall.
majorly sub optimal from our big boppers. ; /
Way to charge the ball, Jorge. Oy.
I'm not ready to jump yet, but watching this team, and specifically Jeter and ARod, reminds me of the '65 Yankees.
Granderson does look a lot better. Maybe he gets hot?
Is this game as slow as implied?
Cumberland, RI loses 1-0, leaving the bases loaded.
Great game.
[16] ok, but we have the best record in baseball. most runs scored. best run differential and are on our way to defend our world champion title. i don't think "ready to jump" should be anywhere close to your train of thought. it's not 1998, but it's certainly not 1965. hang in there, man!
Pena needs to steal 2nd now, too.
Hey, maybe I got here for the good part.
Uh, knock on wood, of course.
Or Jeter can do that. Fucking Bollocks.
Fuck. Saw that coming.
Phewww. Didn't think any balls were leaving the yard tonight.
[25] Last year that ball would have been in orbit.
[25] only the specially marked ones! ; )
Fan nearly got killed trying to catch that one. He got knocked on his ass.
Wow, Just Fair, were you wrong.
Happily.
[27] Lots 'o specially marked balls this inning. : )
That's our boy, Cutis!
see, it's not so bad! : )
The D-Backs hit 4 consecutive homers on Wed. fwiw.
Run, Gardner, Run.
I just made a peach pie. It's peach season, and we picked a few pecks today. (At least I think we did -- I'm not exactly sure what a peck is.)
Damn, peach pie is good.
I bet they eat a whole lot of it in Georgia, huh thelarmis?
You just can't stop Wilson Betemit. WILSON!!!!
Shut down inning?
Holy smokes.
What's up, Phil???
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
um, this isn't good...
[38] Got to admit, it's getting better...
The word mistake is used too often when Phil's pitching.
[40] Why, you think he's doing it on purpose?
[40] Well he aint exactly a "wily veteran" ... Mistakes will be made.
[41] His last start included at least a dozen pitches where Jorge would set up and Phil would miss by a foot of more. Fortunately he's got good movement so he gets away with it. Sometimes. He's had more instances tonight of missing a lot with his fastball. It's almost like Jorge has to set up behind a lefty's back leg so Phil can hit the inside corner. : )
In short, his location has abandoned him. imo
Now we're cooking with grease.
He's baaaaaaaaack.
[43] I kind of knew what you meant. I was just being a pest. But [44] I thought it was "cooking with gas".
[45] Now let's hope he stays this hot!
[2] Hey Chyll, speaking of pizza, I'm down in Mystic, CT, with the fam on vacation, and being a pizza lover, had to try the famous stuff here. I have to say, it was pretty damn good. Not quite as good as some of the stuff back in upstate, but excellent nonetheless. Also tried a local wood-fired pizza place last night and really liked that too.
Not that I'm sure I trust pitchf/x, but did Philty follow Jay Jaffe's advice and through more cutters tonight, or did he keep going to the curve? Seeing as he's got 0 Ks, I'm guessing curve.
The only thing I can think of is that the org. told him to pitch to contact more, in the hopes of keeping his pitch counts/fatigue down. I guess I could understand that, but I don't have to like it.
[46] You are probably correct. But I've beens stuck saying it for months at home and to my students. In any event, I think Alex took offense to OYF at
[16].
Damn fine play by Pena. Nice one.
[48] My mom always said "cooking with gas", and I'm pretty sure she got it from my grandmother. I assumed it was an advertising slogan from the gas company way back when.
And I can't quite tell whether OYF is kidding, or fully serious...
Gameday had Joba's fastball at 97-99, with a 100 thrown in for good measure. What did YES say?
GREAT PLAY by the pitcher. Really dangerous play.
[48] Fuck ARod. He's Toast. Done. Cooked. Over the hill. In decline. Overpaid. Choke artist.
Lester shutting out Texas 1-0 after 6.
[53] Okay, that helps.
[47] Hmm... my brother-in-law grew up in the Litchfield hills and said the pizza was far overrated in Mystic. Could be a regional opinion, but I trust his judgment. And I reiterate, I can't stand brick oven pizza; too thin and often burnt to black so it's more like eating cheese and sauce on crackers.
[53] That's about 1 insult per each year he's got left in his contract.
D-Rob to the rescue.
[56] That's nuts. Brick oven pizza is awesome. Not better than New Yawk Style, just different. One key: can't put too much stuff on it.
WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Splashdown!
Our DH today is great. Is that Nick Johnson?
I used to have a Sega Genesis game that would splash just about every time you hit a home run in KC. It amused me each and every time.
Robbie likes to have fun out there.
Not much of a game thread tonight. More like a longish stitch...
My gosh, the Yanks don't happen to have like 8 games left against KC, do they? A-Rod would hit 40 HR this year. ;)
[56][59] Then Chyll, you haven't had really good brick oven pizza yet! IMHO, the trick is that the dough has to be thick enough. Coming from upstate, I prefer my pizza to have a non paper-thin dough anyway, so I tend to enjoy the brick oven pizza I have had. (I take it you don't like Bertucci's pizza, then? The one near me uses a thicker crust than others I've been too, so I LOVE their pizza, but I could see how YMMV.)
[66] You're right, I haven't had really good brick oven pizza. Having spent all of my formative years in the Hudson Valley, I like you prefer a non-wafer-thin crust. But I don't like burns on my pizza either, no matter what type it is. I don't remember the brick-oven places by name because the several that I've been to have been unimpressive. I always end up thinking, "this is for tourists!" The guy selling pizza for 99 cents a slice by the Lincoln Tunnel is easier for me to handle... (and don't take that as an endorsement)
meh -- that Kansas, Texas, NC "triangle" is overrated. Y'all come down to Alabama and we'll show you some real bbq.
