There's no doubt as to Stubblefield's greatness, but I always saw that break as more proof of James Brown's genius. Cause he knew it when he heard it and he made it happen. What would the world of hip-hop be without that loop?? Haha. Well the world of late 80s/early 90s hip-hop anyway

there's no "the" or "alarm" in there! it's just a one word name: "thelarmis". think "thelonious" and say it that way. it's "themis" and "lars" put together. bestowed upon me by an old, wise bandleader about a decade and a half ago, or so. (long story).

there's actually a middle and last name that go with the stage sobriquet, but i generally just stick with "thelarmis". sounds like some strange skin disease you can contract in greece. oh well, for some reason it stuck, so i just go with it...
