Let's go.

2 Eirias   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:19 pm

What's the ceremony for?

3 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:23 pm

Jays manager Cito Gaston is retiring after the season. Last home game for the Jays this year.

4 Just Fair   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:30 pm

Woe is me. I left my power cord at school. Go Yankees!
F%$% the Jays. It's 7:30. Start the game already.

5 Diane Firstman   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:39 pm

RIP comedian Greg Giraldo, dead at 45 from an accidental prescription drug overdose.

6 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:49 pm

So how many HRs does Javy give up tonight? I put the over/under at 4.5

7 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:50 pm

I really didn't miss Javy Vazquez starts

8 Diane Firstman   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:51 pm

paging Kei Igawa ... Kei Igawa please report to Toronto

9 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:51 pm

Well, that was stupid

10 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:52 pm

[8] That's cold. True, but cold.

11 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:53 pm

Nice to see Javy in midseason form.

12 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:54 pm

I''ve always liked Cito. I wish I was home to see the ceremony (I got home right after)

13 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 7:59 pm

Great to see Javy joining in the celebratory mood and pitching in so the Jays could set their single-season HR record.

14 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:00 pm

[12] No need for regrets...YES didn't much of it.

15 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:01 pm

[14] Eh. At least I heard it on the radio then

16 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:10 pm

Oh Javy.

17 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:11 pm

I think the Jays' single season team HR record should have an asterisk.

18 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:13 pm

[17] Or just a giant picture of Vazquez.

19 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:13 pm

Ol' MacDonald had a double, e-i-e-i-o.

20 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:16 pm

we want brackman!

clap,clap, clap-clap-clap!!!

21 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:20 pm

I'm enjoying this, in a perverse way. I keep thinking, "He'll be watching the playoffs on tv, just like me."

22 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:23 pm

Good job, Golson.

23 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:29 pm

Oh great, Austin Kearns is officially the 2nd half of a platoon with Gardner.

24 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:29 pm

We're trying to win the division =/ starting Javier Vazquez.

25 rbj   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:35 pm

[24] I figure that's just talk. Girardi really wants to send Cito out on a high note.

26 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:38 pm

"Javy and the Yanks look to catch the Rays."
You are being facetious here, right?

27 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:38 pm

Wait, what happened? I had to go do a kid pick-up, and when I got back the inning was over. Why didn't they put up all the Blue Jay runs in the third inning?

28 Shaun P.   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:44 pm

[24] The real problem, right now, is that Cecil is blanking the Yankees. Again.

Cecil vs Yanks, 2010: 28 1/3 IP, 23 H, 1 HR, 13 BB (!), 18 K, 2.22 ERA (not counting tonight)

Cecil vs everyone else, 2010: nothing like that

If Vazquez makes it through six or seven having only given up the 3 runs, that will be just fine.

29 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:46 pm

[28] True...Cecil is making the Yankees starter a mute point.

30 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:47 pm

Rays losing 2-0...incredible how poorly these two teams have played down the stretch.

31 Eirias   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:47 pm

I'm flipping back and forth from this game and The Bottom of the Tenth and I must admit, I also say and think of OPS as one single word. How bad is that?

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:51 pm

[31] it's as bad as javy is at pitching! ; )

33 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Sep 29, 2010 8:55 pm

[31] Very, very bad indeed...

[0] Love the pic!

34 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:00 pm

[33] Not sure why, but playing the sax is pretty cool.

35 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:03 pm

[32] It's definitely not that bad. Come on.

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:07 pm

[34] playing drums is cooler!!! : )

[35] don't you have another kid you can go pick up?

37 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:12 pm

[36] Nope, ran outa kids.
One of them plays the sax, too. Way cooler than drums.

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:17 pm

[28] Jomerun Javy!!!

40 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:17 pm

Ahhhhh.
What a fitting end to his season!

41 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:18 pm

[37] but not cooler than marimba! i mean, i've got all kindsa hot marimba groupies pounding down my door. that's why i don't have any time to post nonsensical drivel on baseball blogs. oh, wait...

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:18 pm

And thus ends Jomerun Javy's career in pinstripes ... not with a whimper, but with a bang.

43 JeremyM   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:19 pm

Should've pulled him after the walk, not sure why Girardi is so worried about burning through the Sanchez's and Alby's right now.

44 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:19 pm

JAVY!!!! 3 is my favorite #. i knew he'd come thru with 3 jomers. good work, man. now, please take your ticket and go south of heaven...

45 mhoward120   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:20 pm

7 runs in 4 2/3 innings - yes, we now have our Game 2 starter!
Anyone who buys Game 4 ALDS tickets is an idiot because the Twins are gonna sweep in 3.

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:20 pm

[38] Wow.
I don't even think it's possible to conceive of something cooler than that.

47 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:22 pm

[45] We have no faith in Sabathia or Pettitte now?

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:24 pm

30!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS!

49 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:24 pm

That was nice. In a selfish, stat-padding sort of way.

50 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:24 pm

[48] He really is amazing.

51 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:25 pm

[49] This is the time of the year for selfish stat padding

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:27 pm

holy fuck. 30 homers!!! sooo cool. my brother and i were wondering/hoping he'd make it. nice goin', a-rod!!!

53 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:28 pm

Forget all the tabloid nonsense..A-Rod one of the best players ever, a treat to watch him play baseball!

54 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:28 pm

Oh, right, 30 is another one of your magic numbers, huh thelarmis?

55 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:32 pm

[38] man, thank you sooo much for that video link! that was fantastic!

she's really great. on a lot of levels. she has excellent command of the instrument. fluid chops and very musical. she also obviously loves playing and is a tremendous entertainer. her voice is terrific and it's really really really hard to play and sing at the same time. trust me. i was better at it when i was a kid and i really didn't know any better...

i thoroughly enjoyed that. a pretty lady kicking ass behind a drumkit = wow.

56 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:33 pm

[54] no, but there's a 3 in there. see 3 + 0 = 3.

i'm compiling my 20-20 list for the season. both david wright and matt kemp went yard today, but really, i just need them to steal 1 base apiece. i'd also like it if hunter pence stole two more bags.

57 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:36 pm

tampon lost. millwood pitched a great game.

58 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:36 pm

[56] Oh, right.
Got change for a thirty? Sure, I have three ones and a zero right here.

59 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:37 pm

[57] then again, neimann did too...

60 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:37 pm

[58] spoken like a true tribesmember! : )

61 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:38 pm

[55] Her and her bro are GODS here in Japon.

62 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:38 pm

Why have the Blue Jays fans been chanting "Bullshit, Bullshit" for the last minute or so?

I miss something?

63 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:39 pm

[60] Banking is in my blood!
Actually, I have no banking ancestors. Even blood banking.

64 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:40 pm

[61] oh, wow. i don't know enough about her/them. thanks for hipping to that video collage. i bookmarked it. there was one thing she played in the 2nd half that is super similar to something i do. i really dug it!

65 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:40 pm

[62] Oh, never mind, now they're back to the always classy "Yankees suck!" chant ...

66 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:40 pm

Well, that turned to shit.

67 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:41 pm

Cult, they're Blue Jays fans. Their chants have no rational explanation.

68 JeremyM   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:41 pm

Don't call it a comeback, eh? Thought one was brewing there!

69 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:41 pm

nick was not batting for the division there...

70 RIYank   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:42 pm

[66] It was A-Rod's fault. Leading off with a homer was a rally-killer. If only he had walked!

71 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Sep 29, 2010 9:44 pm

[64] I'm not a fan actually, a bit lite for my tastes. But I was perplexed when I got here as to why EVERY karaoke bar always has a ton of Carpenters songs available. Eventually a Japanese musician explained that in the 70s, the Carpenters were insanely popular here. Karen's voice was clear and easy to follow even you could not speak English...

So, when the karaoke boom started, the Carpenters were always top requests, easy songs to sing and to listen too without knowing the language...

72 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:05 pm

Did ARod just set the all-time record for 30/100 seasons? Consecutive 30/100 seasons? I believe he has both. Anyone know?

73 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:07 pm

This is ARod's THIRTEEN in a row... 14 altogether.

74 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:10 pm

these things will be soooo much more infuriating next week...

75 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:11 pm

[72] yeah. i think both. pretty incredible.

76 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:16 pm

fuck. twins tied it up...

77 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:18 pm

TB TRYING to give it to us... but no.... we don't take no stinkin' charity.

78 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:19 pm

[72] Yes...he has both...13 in a row and 14 over all.

79 williamnyy23   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:21 pm

Javier Vazquez is the only Yankee pitcher to surrender over 30 HRs in a season twice (only five others have done it).

80 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:21 pm

ARod is now exactly 150 HRs behind Bonds.
6 years at 25 per.
The guy really has a chance.

81 thelarmis   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:24 pm

twins have taken the lead on delmon young's 20th homer of the season...

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:45 pm

Well, that's that.

83 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 29, 2010 10:45 pm

This is really depressing.
