Yanks-Sox and the last weekend on the regular season. There is something at stake here, of course, the best record in the American League. Looks like the Sox have something to play for after all.

What is it with you and Howard Chaykin?? Geez
LOL
It's rainig hard. This could be a 161 game season.
TB's magic number is 3.
[2] They'll probably play a double header. Do it Saturday.
[2] It's over here in RI. The weather is moving eastward, right?
From what lohud is saying it'll be over with and the game should happen.
[5] Yeah... It looks like the heart of it is moving on, but it's still messy south of Boston. The field will be a mess. The Sox have nothing to lose, but an injury to a Yankee could have major implications for the PS. I hope they call it off tonight.
Buchholz scratched for tomorrow. We get Wakefield!
Maybe there really is a chance of taking the Division.
First pitch coming soon?
Minaya and Manuel are gone..who takes the GM and manager's seat knowing they will work for the Wilpons? Then again, people keep working for Angelos, Snyder & Dolan so...
[7] Was it mentioned that Beltre is on leave (wife giving birth) for the weekend and will probably miss all 3 games? And we get Lackey on Sunday. Yes, I believe a sweep and the Division is possible.
On tv here some vintage baseball footage. Just watched Randy Johnson finish his perfect game at age 40, then some Barry Bonds clips. Feel lucky to have seen those guys play at their best, totally dominant.
Any chance this game gets played?
Here's a weather radar map of Boston for anyone interested.

Chad has not had a weather update for a bit over an hour now.
If that mass blows East, we may be OK.
No update over on LoHud yet.
Finished watching The 10th Inning ... God the 2001 and 2004 series are told in excruciating detail. Ugh. Brutal. I don't give a **** if Mike Barnicle's kid was happy.
How does everyone feel about this new line-up? This one:
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Jorge Posada C
Lance Berkman DH
Brett Gardner LF
Chad J. is reporting that it could very well be the one they use in the postseason.
That is a very sick line-up that should do much damage. No, AJ, no Cervelli, so Chad's take makes sense. If AJ, then Cervelli, with Jorge DH.
4-0 Royals by the way.
[16] Excellent!
We might get this game in.

Does anyone else other then me consider the possibility that Tampa Bay would rather play the Twins, albeit without the home-field advantage, than face Cliff Lee and the Rangers? It seems that they just might be "tanking" at the right time to get their preferred matchup. I wonder whether winning the division and having to face Mr. Lee again, probably twice, is worth the "honor" of winning the division title. Just a thought, mind you...
[14] Looks great!
[19] I wouldn't put anything past Maddon the Chess Master..
So, nobody is unhappy about Swisher leaving the #2 slot? I like his OPS up there. But having him on base for Posada and Berkman isn't bad either.
[21] Not really unhappy ... Granderson's been swinging it well and he's certainly a better baserunner than Stick at this point, especially considering Nick's knee.
Tarp's off.
Game slated to start at 10:00 PM!
[24] Nice, 11am start here. So my Saturday lunchtime is set!
Fucking Royals ... that's why they're the Royals ...
Oh, wait ... the Rays "biffed" it!
Sweet!
Tarp's back on. Doesn't look good.
Viva el Blanco!!!
7-0 Royals, bottom 6th.
Bruce Chen shutting out the Rays. Is it on purpose?
I've thought it over, and the only fair thing to do is to award this game to the Yankees.
[31] That does seem fair.
And we could waive our share of the gate for tonight, too. The Red Sox are always so starved for cash, I'm sure they'd appreciate it. (Actually, just voiding this game entirely is just as good for us as winning it! Think about it.)
I'm passing the time listening to the Koyaanisqatsi motion picture score ...

Will they really start a normal four hour Yanks-Sox game at 11 PM?
tampon loses.
twinks down by a granny, heading to the 9th.
[31/32] i agree. without even thinking about it. yes, just award the game to the yanks. i'm all about it!
[33] Jayzuz, haven't thought of Koyaanisqatsi in years...almost as dull as this Mariners - A's game now on tv here...ah well, Sayonara till tomorrow..
[33] philip glass! fantastic stuff! my college girlfriend and i used to watch and listen to that a lot...
Bruce Chen just shut out Tampa
and sometimes it rains...
from lohud:
The Yankees and Red Sox have been rained out. They’ll play two tomorrow, with the second game beginning at 9:05 p.m.
[36] Uh, no ... I think what you wanted to say is 'one of the purest marriages of sound and image ever conceived and captured on film' and a 'singular achievement'. Probably Glass's greatest film score and that's saying something ('Thin Blue Line", anyone???).
A staggering achievement and one of the best movies of the '80s.
[40] here here!
Pretty good game going on out in SF. Padres trying to save their season, and were in the process of blowing a 6-1 lead.
