First night of the Meetings. Nothing big to report for the Yanks yet.
Dandy Don Meredith passed away today and we lost a guy who used to make us laugh. The Jets and Pats play a Monday Night football game tonight that actually means something, a throwback to Meredith’s day. It is a big, over-hyped game and I’m eager to see it though I will feel no pain at the outcome–ah, the pleasures of being a slave to just one team! That said, Let’s Go Jets.
Otherwise, if I hear anything on the baseball front I’ll let you know and vice versa.
Update: Here’s a nice wrap-up of today’s Yankee doings from Chad Jennings.

Here's one interesting rumor I've heard: The Yankees are looking into signing outfielder Matt Diaz, who was non-tendered by the Braves. Diaz would likely replace Marcus Thames as the right-handed hammer against lefty pitchers. He's a better defensive player than Thames, and I believe, a bit younger.
I like Thames, but I've always liked Diaz, too.
Diaz is one year younger than Thames. He'll be 33 by Opening Day. Thames will be 34.
Is Sandy Alderson is really going to trade Jose Reyes...what would it take to get him? Reyes and Cano up the middle? Yes, please!

SUCK! SUCK! SUCK!
[4] 45-3? Thought they were supposed to be good this year..
Knicks on a roll, baby!! Bring on the Celtics, ECF!!
Wowzers, that's not a spanking, that's child abuse. I thought people were protesting that today.
[3] What do we do with our newly reminted legend then? First man off the bench? Give him a one way ticket to Gray Havens? Teach him to respect Paul Molitor's gangsta?
Oh, I figured Jeter could pitch. Although the jump throw would be a balk, so maybe not.
The Jets are good this year, but the Patriots were possessed by demons last night. (And Mark Sanchez is not quite ready for games like that one.)
Last night I found myself watching more of the Knicks than a "great" football game, which turned into a shellacking of the loudmouth Jets. I dunno, these Knickerbockers are fun to watch. A'mare!
