This whole Cliff Lee thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. As we wait for Lee to take his thumb out of his backside (for lack of another term), other important issues (the bullpen, bench, and catching) remain unattended.
I know that Lee has every right as a free agent to shop his wares, but the constant waiting, the "world revolves around me" attitude has really turned me off.
If Lee ends up spurning the Yankees' ridiculously generous offer, I'm ready to put him up there with Curt Schilling on my "most hated" list!
I'm not bothered by Cliff's pondering. I do think it's not just about the money & years, that is part of it but there's also family matters -- being 3 hours away from home in Arkansas, and whether Texas will be competitive every year. Yankees will be.
color me underwhelmed at this point. the man is a hell of a pitcher and I'd love to have him, but he isn't Catfish Hunter and this isn't 1974...make your mind up Clifton.
[13] diane - thank you sooo much for that! i'm a BIG Tom Lehrer fan, and have a decent amount of his stuff, but i don't think i was familiar with the adverb song. that *ruled*!!!
(i just forwarded it to my mom, who's an English teacher...)
If Cliff Lee makes his decision in a forest, do the Yankees stil have to give him seven years?
[1] You betcha; if he stays with Texas, they can give him seven years of bad luck.
[1]
If he makes his decision in a forest, and there is no one there to hear him ...
Still says he goes to Texas...
And if you mess around with me, I put my BOOT down. Don't mess wit' Hank.
Must. Have. Lee.
Well it would behoove him to be a Yankee, after all. So sayeth, Grandmaster Hank. The kiss of death.
Alas. Buzz does not look good. Zack?

9) way ahead of you and here here. Although I'm such a pig that I'll prolly smile if they get him.

Diane, can we get some good adverb jokes going? Because if Lee signs with Texas it will be too late.

I am confident that Lee will sign with the Yankees. I am banking on his competitive spirit and greed to win against the Rangers' offer.

[17] >;) Isn't she the one who really knows how to swear or knows some interesting ones? That's awesome!
[7] Hankie also said “I think that would be a great move for him but, of course I’m prejudiced.” At least he has that going for him.
[9] I'm sure the bullpen, bench and catching situations are being resolved, I don't think Lee's holding up the works there.
I'm half expecting to see Lee on an hour show on ESPN about "The Decision."
