Deja Blues

Engine room, bring me my drink.

Same ol’ Jets, indeed.

Most Jet fans are Met fans - and they also hate us as Yankee fans (with some exceptions).
So - as a Yankee fan, I am delighted that the Jets and their fans are miserable tonite - maybe in another 42 years...

I totally disagree with the "Same Ol Jets" mantra. The old Jets wouldn't have even come out for the second half. They could have dominated if they actually played in the first half. They lost the game themselves, but they did what old Jets team wouldn't have done and made a run at it, made it close.

No, they don't deserve any awards or accolades for that since they lost, but they definitely don't deserve to be called "Same Ol' Jets" because they're not.

same ol jets in that they made it close but it wasn't enough...1) I know plenty of Yankee fans who are also Jets fans...

Alex, I too know Yankee-Jet fans...however, with most fans its either Yankees-Giants or Mets-Jets and I'll never forget that Saturday in, I believe October 2006 when the Yankees were ousted from the playoffs by the Tigers and the Mets advanced over the Dodgers - for a lot of Mets fans, it was their happiest day ever, in large part because of the Yankee loss - therefore, I will never sympathize with either Mets fans or Jets fans.

I really enjoyed watching "Hard Knocks" this summer. It was neat to watch the transformation of a team that for the most part looked like shit most of the pre-season and doing all sorts of stupid shit to making the AFC title game. In any event I am glad the Jets beat those fuckers from N.E. And I enjoyed watching Rex throw his headset down after the completed 3 and 6. Cheers.

[4] I can't even begin to deal with that bizarro logic. The Mets play baseball. The Jets play football. Being a Yankee fan has absolutely nothing to do with who you root for in the NFL.
Also, the old conventional wisdom that you are either Yankees-Giants-Rangers or Mets-Jets-Islanders really is worn out. C'mon - I know Red Sox fans who live and die with the football Giants and Yankee fanatics who live for the Dallas Cowboys, for cryin' out loud.

[2] I'm with you, Chyll Will. This ain't the same ol' Jets. Winning 3 playoff road games is damn near impossible against the likes of the Colts, Pats & Steelers. Telling you right now - nobody wants to play the Jets next year.

[2] 100% correct. These are not the same old Jets. Ryan has completely changed the tenor of the entire organization and it wouldn't surprise me if they are right back in the AFC championship game next year.

[3] I am a Jets fan (or was...ever since the NFL mandated mediocrity, I really don't have a strong emotional connection), and know a lot of Yankees fans who are as well. I think the old Jets/Mets and Yankees/Giants connection is an outdated reference to a time when each team played in the same Stadiums.

[4] Who cares how Mets fans react to the Yankees. We've had the chance to enjoy numerous championships and celebrate an incredible history. How other fan bases react to the Yankees success and failures should be irrelevant.

And if that wasn't enough bad news, the most up guy in the history of the world, Jack Lalanne has bought it to pneumonia. Damn! http://tinyurl.com/4mhegbs

[7] I'm the opposite. Always a football guy, but I was never a Jets or Giants fan. (Well, not since I was a little kid.)

This game worked out well for the sake of football. Packers/Steelers, that's as good as it gets.

No SOJ for me. I think the "almost made it" thing needs a healthy dose of fuck up, stupidity or bad luck. The Jets just dug themselves an old fashioned hole last night. And to their credit almost dug out of it! The downside to that is it makes me think they could've - should've (??) - won the whole dad-blamed thing.

God, that 3 and 6 play that iced it!

Well they had a good first half in last year's AFC Championship - a good second half this year. If they can get back, they just have to put the two together and blammo! Superbowl here we come!
