New York Minute

I get nervous when I see someone reading their iPad on the subway. I have to fight the urge to tell them, “Put that thing away, don’t you know you could get mugged for carrying that around?” Maybe I’m still living in the ’70s and ’80s when being shook was a daily operation riding the trains (yeah, I was a kid then but the city felt lawless then too). Maybe you have nothing to worry about. But I am cautious about using my iPhone. Change the song, put it back in my pocket.

Old habits die hard.

I'm more concerned with them getting hurt and extending my commute.

I'd be too nervous to use an iPad on the subway. Plus, I'm usually too busy working on my iContactAvoidance. My shit's 4G, man.

"Maybe I’m still living in the ’70s and ’80s " probably or you are windows person. either way ancient. BTW: When will the Banter have an iPhone/iPad app?

3) We aren't planning on having an app for either but we are working on a redesign that should work better in both mediums. The redesign should launch on or before Opening Day.

4) Yeah, I was thinking of writing you an e mail just to prepare you, bro. LOL. But in this case I'm excited because I want the change to help readers use our archives. The idea is to make it more of a magazine template. Anyhow, I'll write more about it as the launch date approaches but change is gwan come!

7) Thanks, Hoss. Seriously, I was worried enough to say, "Man, I've got to send my man an e mail." Cause as Woody once said, "Change equals death."

Nah Alex, you are just an old school New Yawker. I'm the same way - even though I've only been living here for a short time. I remember visiting at length here in the 80's and being told time and time again to blend into the background.

I just got an iPad last week, and I've been reading on the train a ton. Only on my line, though, where I know all the nooks and crannies. Tomorrow is gonna be my first time taking it out to Brooklyn. Its the F to Dumbo, though. I'm not sure that counts as a real train line.

Side note: These "New York Minute" bits are fast becoming some of my favorite things on the site. Don't let em fall away when the season starts!
