When Alexis Arguello gave Boom Boom a beating
Seven weeks later he was back in the ring
Some have the speed and the right combinations
If you can’t take the punches it don’t mean a thing.

Only upon his passing did I realize the greatness of this man .... RIP Warren.
I love that verse. He's not just talking about Ray Mancini's boxing career, he's talking about himself. Warren took the punches and kept coming back.
Warren Zevon is someone I always hear about from fellow music geeks, yet i don't have a single record of his! Any recommendations?
[3] His first two albums, "Warren Zevon" and "Excitable Boy," are both pretty great start to finish. The album this tune comes from, Sentimental Hygiene, is also damned good. There's an excellent 2 disc comp. on Rhino, "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" and a terrific live album, "Stand In the Fire." His later stuff is fine, too, but I wouldn't start there.
