Evidently, HBO is producing an hour long special on Derek Jeter's chase for 3,000 hits called: Derek Jeter 3k.

I guess that's only appropriate, given HBO's prior experience in producing several seasons of "Deadwood" ...

Five

4 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:09 pm

Is Jeter ever going to hit a ball out of the infield again?

5 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:11 pm

Sun looks tough for the hitter right now ...

6 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:15 pm

Cleveland announcer just stated that Carrasco can throw his fastball by the Yankees' hitters because a bunch of the them have "slider speed bats".

7 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:21 pm

Ooooh, Kay's been hitting the thesaurus ... that ball was CRACKED to CF ...

8 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:33 pm

That's a strike?

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:33 pm

Oh, boy ... bases loaded for Frankie Brains.

10 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:33 pm

Ducks on the pond, Frankie. Time to cash them in, to mix metaphors.

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:35 pm

GODDAMMIT BRAINS.

That was pathetic.

12 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:35 pm

Better to be lucky than good.

13 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:36 pm

C'mon Jeter, infield single drives one in!

14 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:36 pm

Jeter should have taken that one for the team ...

15 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:37 pm

Four!

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:37 pm

[4] HA!

17 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:37 pm

4!

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:38 pm

[6] Ironically, Jeter might just be one the Yankees that has a "slider speed bat" at this point and he just drove a Carrasco fastball to the wall in the gap.

Suck it, Cleveland ...

19 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:40 pm

Curtis!

20 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:40 pm

Some inning.

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:40 pm

GRANDYMAN GO BOOM!

Oh look, another Yankees' homerun off a Carrasco fastball!

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:42 pm

Remember that game 5 in 2000 against Oakland where it was either 5 or 6 nothing early against Oakland?

Everything looked fabulous but Andy wasn't on and slowly allowed them back into the game. Fortunately, the pen was lights out back then and came in to restore order.

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:45 pm

The ball just sounds glorious off the bat tonight.

24 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:45 pm

Dang, just missed a three run jack. Oh well, I'll take 5.

25 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:46 pm

Well, CC was dealing in the 1st, hopefully the long inning won't throw him off.

26 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:53 pm

[25] CC seems fine ...

27 rbj   ~  Jul 5, 2011 7:53 pm

[25] Seems like it didn't.

28 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:02 pm

Oh fuck, that looked painful.

Hate to see that.

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:04 pm

Well, glad he seems to be ok ... maybe ... I'd get him out of there and icing that ankle, if I was the Indian's manager ...

30 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:13 pm

Christ! Po moves in slow motion.

31 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:18 pm

GRANDYMAN!
GRANDYMAN!!

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:19 pm

Good to see Curtis getting back to his hard hittin' ways ...

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 5, 2011 8:40 pm

[0] That poster..

6-0, CC cruising..all is well. Hope they can stretch the lead to 3+ games before the ASG.

34 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:00 pm

C.C. is a fucking STUD.

35 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:00 pm

33) DD was the man!

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:01 pm

Check out Tesh with the off-field hitting!

37 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:17 pm

Check out Cletus with the off-field hitting!

38 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:20 pm

Worst. Baserunner. In. History.

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:21 pm

Man, it is STAGGERING how bad of a base-runner Cletus STILL is. It's like he forgets more and more every year ...

40 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:22 pm

[38] Without hyperbole, he might just be ...

41 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:22 pm

[38] Truer. Words. Never. Been. Spoken.

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:25 pm

Wow, out by literally an inch, I think.

43 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:28 pm

For some reason, my computer nuts up when I try to get the YES broadcast from my MLB Premium Bullshit Package. But I can watch and hear the Tribe's announcers just fine. Who's on for YES tonight?

I miss Kenny's voice.

44 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:32 pm

[43] MLB.tv? Or cable?

45 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:34 pm

[44] MLB.com. That's the only way I can see the Yanks in Japan anymore.

46 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:36 pm

[45] Ok, I was having trouble at the beginning of the game with the YES feed via MLB.com. Even on the lowest quality it was freezing consistently. I switched over to the Cleveland feed and that was fine. I came back to the YES feed a couple of innings ago and it's been fine, at least on the lowest quality setting.

47 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:36 pm

[43] Having said that, now I'm able to get the YES feed. It's a crap shoot every day.

48 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:38 pm

[46] I know exactly what you are talking about.

At my office, where I have a high-speed fiber optic connection it's never a problem. Work is the problem

49 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:49 pm

CaYES!

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:49 pm

Man, that Robinson Cano's pretty good.

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:50 pm

Cornflake continues to be en fuego ...

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:56 pm

PANTS LENDLETON!

53 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:57 pm

Oh, man, Swish cracks me up.

I can laugh now when it's 9-0 but man, he sure does fall down a lot out there.

54 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:58 pm

Oh, Cornflake, you do bring the goofy out in RF from time-to-time ...

55 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:59 pm

[53] He doesn't misplay that many balls, but when he does, does he ever make an impression ...

56 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 9:59 pm

[55] Indeed.

57 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:00 pm

He really has improved tremendously from his first season here, so he gets a lot of credit for that.

58 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:04 pm

Catchers are loco.

59 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:04 pm

Ouch.

Would it make me a bad person if I wished that would put Cervelli on the DL?

Oh, well, guess not.

60 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:05 pm

*cracking up*

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:09 pm

[57] He played a lot more LF and CF for the A's and White Sox than he did RF ... personally, having played a lot of LF and CF in my life, both hardball and softball, playing RF is a very different experience, whereas LF and CF felt much more similar ...

62 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:10 pm

Jesus Jeter, do I have to insult you after EVERY at bat?

Ok ... Is Jeter ever going to hit a ball out of the infield again?

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 5, 2011 10:27 pm

Well, that was satisfying.

See y'all tomorrow night for some HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHES!
