So. . .

Everyone safe, if not dry?

2 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 12:57 pm

Safe up here in the BX. The sun is even peaking out.

that's a cool picture up top with the boids.

tbs was supposed to carry this day game and i was looking forward to it. instead, they're airing cubs-brew crew, in my area, in a few minutes.

my parents evacuated their house; the whole block did. that's near jfk. they went to my brothers in queens and everything was fine there. my folks will see the house later this evening. hopefully nothing more than a flooded basement...

2 bad punch outs for the Yanks to 1 for the O's.

5 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 1:59 pm

um, what in the world is going on with word press??? so incredibly frustrating.

my comment (#3) is awaiting moderation. i didn't even come close to cursing. it is a length issue? i mean, c'mon!

6 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:18 pm

nice 10 pitch at-bat for the captain.

i was hoping for a hit, however.

1 more and he ties craig biggio with 3060, #20 on the all-time list!

as if passing The Mick for most games ever played in a Yankee uniform wasn't enough for one day... ; )

7 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:38 pm

Britton looks good so far.

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:54 pm

Well, I'm glad to see Colon pitching well today, but it sure would be nice if the offense would come back from whatever vacation they've been on for the last week ...

9 rbj   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:55 pm

Yeah, I'll have to catch up with my family in Newport News later. Seems like everyone is o.k.

Pitcher's best friend.

11 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:59 pm

Man, this is like a National League game.

12 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:59 pm

The 'Tolo!

13 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 2:59 pm

The score truck is stuck in a flooded part of town.

14 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:01 pm

Alright guys, let's get the scoring started.

15 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:03 pm

DRIVEN!

16 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:06 pm

Interesting, Britton was 2-2 with Teix. 100 pitches on the day. Then Tex fouls off three in a row then takes ball three, fouls off another and then slaps pitch 106 of the afternoon into left. It's 0-0 but I can't imagine Britton is long for this game.

17 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:07 pm

Good thing Britton has a high pitch count. Hopefully he won't see the end of the 7th.

18 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:08 pm

Damn, Alex didn't look good there. 111 pitches for Britton.

19 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:09 pm

yeah, jeter and swish have each had a coupla ab's that made britton work, before that 10-pitch matchup with Tex.

hopefully, that's it for britton...

20 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:13 pm

wonderful, wonderful

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:14 pm

Fat Bastard in da hizzy!

22 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:18 pm

We keep counting pitches, he keeps getting outs.

23 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:20 pm

[22] Well, at least @120, that's it for Britton. We'll see if that changes anything.

24 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:28 pm

Ferfuck's sake! Now the Yanks need 2 runs. Can they do it?

25 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:28 pm

Fugh.

26 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:28 pm

Nuts.

27 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:32 pm

First two pitches a fucking waste for Nunie here.

28 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:32 pm

And then trying to hit a home run. Garbage AB>

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:32 pm

C'mon Russtache!

30 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:33 pm

Shit bunt attempt. Check swing foul. Whiff! Bollocks!

31 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:34 pm

I'm beginning to get annoyed.

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:34 pm

Really?

REALLY???

That's what you decided to do with a 3-1 pitch?

This team's hitting approach right now is bollocks.

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:35 pm

[30] Hah!

BOLLOCKS!!!

34 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:36 pm

I seem to remember Jeter not being able to hit Johnson with a paddle.

35 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:36 pm

[31] I've been trying to think happy thoughts all day, but the stabbity is rising ...

36 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:37 pm

Boolchit

37 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:37 pm

Whimper.

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:39 pm

Man, I sure hope Nova brings his A game this evening, because with the way this team is approaching at bats recently, even a run or two seems beyond reach.

39 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:40 pm

bhyukfvrgtyij

40 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:41 pm

Jesus H. Christ. Seeing those 2 come close to colliding is enough to make me crazy.

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:41 pm

Yeah, that's the way things are going right now.

42 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:42 pm

[35] Losing four games to Oakland and Baltimore even before the annual September giveup starts is infuriating.

43 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:45 pm

[42] Yup. And even the game we won this week, with all the grandslams, was following the same infuriating pattern of bullshit situational hitting and squandered opportunities until the A's pitchers literally walked the Yankees into a blow out.

44 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:46 pm

Magic time, 'Tolo! Let's go dude!

45 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:46 pm

Oh, look, a ball that wasn't going to be caught and the runner at first ran.

46 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:51 pm

Nasty heater. 1 more!

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:52 pm

Ugh.

Ballgame.

48 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:52 pm

Ballgame.

49 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:53 pm

It wouldn't do any good but I'd like to see Bartolo give his teammates the finger.

50 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:57 pm

Looks like an easy out in the box score, right?

Phew.

51 rbj   ~  Aug 28, 2011 3:59 pm

What a waste of a good outing by Colon.

52 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:00 pm

one would think that between grandy, tex & a-rod, we could score a coupla runs here...

however, i'm not thinking that will happen.

53 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:01 pm

Well, if there's a comeback to be had, Kevin Gregg is a better than average bet to supply it.

Plus, he's got one hell of a backpfeifengesicht ...

54 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:01 pm

You know what would be the perfect way for this gamke to end? Yankees desperately trying to work walks because its Gregg, ignoring that the ump is calling EVERYTHING

55 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:01 pm

[52] btw, i'm going with the old reverse psychology trick with that post!

56 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:01 pm

well, that's not a good start.

57 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:02 pm

HES CALLING EVERYTHING. FUCKING SWING.

58 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:03 pm

Life!

59 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:03 pm

Alright, Alex either ties it on one swing ... or GiDP.

The agony or the ecstasy.

60 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:04 pm

What a big bag of steaming fucking suck.

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:05 pm

Ugh, sorry.

But ya gotta call it when ya feel it ...

62 thelarmis   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:05 pm

agony.

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:05 pm

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

64 Just Fair   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:06 pm

The A's and O's are obviously too much for the Yankees. Good thing the M's aren't next.
Bah!

65 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:06 pm

And down with a whimper. We've lost five of the last seven and haven't even started the September shit

66 rbj   ~  Aug 28, 2011 4:08 pm

Glad I spent most of this game doing yard work and napping.
