…That the Red Sox and the Rays both won tonight? That Russell Martin hit into a triple play? That Rafael Soriano screwed the pooch and gave up the deciding three-run home run? How about that Boston’s third-string catcher, Ryan Lavarnway (and what a wonderful name that is), hit two home runs? Lavarnway also made a critical play to get the second out in the ninth inning too.
It all happened folks. And so there will be another night of channel-flipping, nail-biting, and general playoff mishegoss. Would you expect anything less at this pernt?
The good news is that Bartolo Colon pitched reasonably well for the Yanks in the 5-3 loss.
Otherwise, the Yankees were a footnote in this drama. Final game of the season. Dig ‘um, smack.
I'm still watching the Red Sox game ... Premature post?
Or you're psychic.
NOW it's over.
Comes down to #162 tomorrow night.
Red Sox had better come to play.
[3] Lester on 3 days rest? Going to be a good one, but hope they go to #163! I'm sure the Trop would see at least 30K for that one.
[2] are you the old "hawk" from here and if so, why did you change your screen name...twice?!
[3] or not. i hope they lose. and lose BIG! : )
prince has 3 homers for the brew crew tonite...
[6] yo thelarmis, can't believe last week I forgot Art Blakey and Roy Haynes on my list of greatest jazz drummers. Paul Motian too!
Wow. Got to be advantage Rays with the Yanks resting guys tomorrow, but here's hoping for a playoff Thursday.
[7] oh, there were tons not on there! and i wouldn't have listed klooke there. was philly joe on the list? can't remember. i know papa jo wasn't there! those kindsa lists are what they are. and remember, it doesn't really matter:
Tony
: )
[8] i hope jete can go 2-2, or something, reach .300 and then get pulled. i know it won't happen, and it doesn't really mean anything anyway, but what the fuck. would be cool!
cards were down 5-0. they won 13-6.
houston, you've got a problem.
atlanta, you do too!
[9] Yeah, it's a long list! I'd like to hear your rock pantheon, though am guessing Steve Gadd (he belongs on jazz AND rock?) and John Bonham lead the way?
[11] I really dislike Tony La Russa, got to cheer for the Braves in this race..
rangers' big 4 have all homered tonite. kins, cruz, beltre, napoli. those guys have 120 longballs between them.
[12] yeah, bonham is first. and then no one is listed after. kinda like the tony thing! : )
gadd just RULES. he gets his own special category. there's a reason his name is one letter away from god...
and go braves, 'coz i live here! : )
i'm loggin' off. see youze manana...
[14] Yeah, I guessed you would have Bonham way on top.
Have a good one, going to be a great baseball day tomorrow. Wish I had the morning off!
[14, 15] Neal Pert.
[14,15] Charlie Watts.
[17] Er...that's a joke about Charlie Watts, right? :)
[5] Sorry about that . I'm trying to migrate to something else. Maybe that's a dumb idea!
What, are you getting married too? >;)
1) Yeah, I cheated hoping for a reverse jinx. Some super powers...
[18] No joke, my friend.
Rock Drummers: What's the old joke? What do you call a drummer who just broke up with his girlfriend? Homeless.
My apologies, thelarmis.
On the best lists, What about Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, Neil Pert, Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Mitch Mitchell, Dave Garibaldi, Ainsley Dunbar, Max Weinberg, and Levon Helm (in his own subtle way, and there is something about a vocalist singing behind the drum kit)? I'm sure more to mention, just can't remember.
Don't forget Animal, KB, don't forget Animal...
Why would anyone be joking about Charlie Watts being great? Of course he's great.
[23] Agreed about Levon - he's an excellent drummer which often gets overshadowed. I would add hmm...Steve Jordan, Bev Bevan, Bobby Elliott, Bernard Purdie, Olly Peacock...
[24] I was too old for Sesame Street (really, just a little), and when my son watched it in the 90's, Animal didn't make an impression.
