Let’s Go Yank-ees!

What's everyone else feeling right now? I'm cautiously optimistic.
I'd also really like the chance to see an ALCS rematch, so that last year's wrongs can be righted.
[1] I'm a bit tired. Whatever happens, happens. Would like to see AJ pull a nice start out of his ass.
Currently watching Phils-Cards. Bases loaded 1 out for the Cards in the 8th. Ryan Madson, Phils closer, is in.
Phillies up 3-1.
Madson out of the inning with a DP
4) Man, Madson lucked out there.
If they could only conference on balls and strikes...
We got just where we want 'em.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf0fmqWS-kI
Word to Diana!
[1] My heart is also cautiously optimistic, but my head says prepare for an ugly game. I just don't want it to be over. Seems like the team has been humming along for a few weeks, playoffs locked up, watching the Red Sox in free fall, everything falling in place. If it ends tonight, it just seems like an abrupt way to finish the season after the marathon this year, which felt much longer than other recent years.
Man, that Albert guy is pretty good, huh?
I'm strangely calm. I want AJ to do well, not just for the obvious reason, but also so he won't have to deal with all the crap for sucking.
Guess Davis isn't the only blind ump...
Everytime I hear Victorino I think of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer fed the horse Beef-a-rino. And on that note. GO YANKEES!
For all their flaws, this *is* a got-damn professional baseball team. They'll play hard.. they know what they have to do.
LET'S GO YAN-KEES! (clap, clap, clap clap clap)
I'm at work, gonna listen to Sterling/Waldman and keep score.
Phils win.
[13] Dig it, man! Go YANKEES! Score early and often! PANIC IN DETROIT!
LesssGO YANKS! Got a good feelin' about tonight!
Let's GO!
Fuck. Nice play. Bastard.
Alright, predictions, Yankees win, Burnett goes 6 and allows no more than 3 and Alex gets at least 2 hits.
LET'S GO YANKEES!!!
Throw strikes, MEAT!
Oh, Christ.
Take him out already
How have the Yanks managed to walk Austin Jackson three times in two games? (Besides the obvious bad zone to CC.)
Not a good start AJ.
Walk the guy who has 2,000 strikeouts over the last 2 seasons.
Careful there, guys.
Sterling just said, "a very, very ignominius start by AJ Burnett". This college educated noob assumes that means "bad".
Thanks, Tigers.
Hooray for plays!
Fuck.
[27] Maybe he meant to say, "portentous" or "inauspicious."
One more. Keep that shit at 3rd.
Spring Training 2012 - "Well, we believe we've straightened out A.J.'s delivery problems and we look forward to his having a very productive season for us this year" - Brian Cashman
These guys in the booth are killing me.
[19] Really hope Alex whacks the ball today!
Mr. Spacely just told me we got a huge ACME meeting from 12:00, I'm going to miss the end of the game...困った!!
This guy, him you can walk.
AJ has a no-hitter going!
Booooo.
Only the Tigers are allowed to use plays.
[37] Don't jink it man....
He doesn't know where the baseball is going.
[39] Jink?
[39] New addition to the Banter glossary!
Darling just said V-Mart is batting .343 so he comes through "most of the time" batting behind Cabrera. That's not even close to logical.
1st hit's gonna be a salami
I'm having trouble actually watching. I'm afraid.....
Brutal.
I can't take this.
[42] Are you feeling toooptimistic right now?
Nothing like watching a scary AJ Burnett performance to get ready for Halloween. This is brutal.
Ohhhhhh, maybe that's why IBBs aren't so smart. Starting to catch on...
Yay, the troll is back!
Nostra, got a sixer of Alaskan Amber.
C'mon AJ, IT'S REDEMPTION TIME!
You've *got* this, brah.
Thanks Smoltzie. We all know about putting stroke yips. Huh?
Not making it out of the first.
Still a no-hitter
Jesus, a strike. Please. FUcking God Almighty.
Just crapped my pants a little.
WIthout a great play by Curtis.
Grandy saves the bacon
HOLY FUCK!
Jesus, what a heart attack.
Oh Grandy!
*plop*
Yes! A miracle.
Oof. Thank you Grandy.
Well, that was easy enough.
Next inning!
One inning down.
God, I'm a nervous wreck. My heart leap from my chest when Curtis did that little dance out there.
Jesus, I'm getting too old for this.
Told ya he had it.
[55] All due respect, STFU!
Gotta give Smoltzie credit with the "atom" ball comment. Now AJ settles in.
leapt
Phew. Ok, now pull AJ.
fuck, I just threw up in my mouth a lil.
I wish TBS had been able to sell more than these same three ads we keep seeing over and over.
How close to the edge does this have to get. Bases loaded on walks, then a line drive nearly over the head of Granderson. Poor Martin is already a sack of bruises.
One inning down. How does the team relax enough to hit after being in the field for this garbage?
[70] Lept.
One pitch, one out.
Are we even trying?
Yum, luvs me sum first pitch swingin'.
Maybe they have a tee time early tomorrow morning
[75] lept, leapt, wept, weapt.
Make him work, boys!
[77] I'm not.
I'm a fatalist.
Fucking shift.
God, Teix is pissing me off.
This is looking like a 1000 comment game, easily.
Got Gameday here, how were those line outs? Are they hitting it well off of Porcello?
JESUS CHRIST! Three pitches?
1 for his last 28 in the playoffs, atta boy Tex.
[80] Empedokles lept; Empedokles leapt.
Fucking pathetic.
Hey, Teix hit it hard. That's what we want
That was a quick inning.
I hope A.J. had time to sit down.
Nice 6 pitch half-minute inning
Was that a five pitch inning. WTF!?!
[84] Teix hit it hard but into the shift. Alex hit a lazy fly ball and Nick, a lazy tapper.
Nice, a 5 pitch inning for Porcello...ugh.
Well, the Yankees are in a hurry. I guess they don't want to break AJ's rhythm.
Can a guy even take a leak before we make 3 outs???
Fuck. 17 pitches through 2 for Poorfello. AJ threw 21 in the foist alone.
[93] Don't worry. We are killing them in Time of Possession. That has to be an advantage late in the game. Well, it works on Sundays.
The commercial break is lasting longer than the Yanks' half-inning.
Anyone remember what Emma's charm was? She needs to work that shit. Was it a Bernie Williams bobblehead, maybe?
Tigers are going to have to have Porcello throw a few sim innings in the pen when the game's over. You know, to get the work in.
Strike 1!
That's a first!
I feel like they should play the Friday the 13th theme music when they come back to action with AJ on the hill.
Darling finally has th balls to talk about the strike zone. More aggressive means not a complete sack of suck.
[101] RAT SHIT BAT SHIT DIRTY OLD TWAT SIXTY-NINE ASSHOLES TIED IN A KNOT. YAY! LIZARD SHIT!! FUCK!!!
Jazz,
Is NHK intentionally trying to piss us off? They are playing the fucking Rays and the Rangers right now. WTF? I am so glad I never paid for that shit.
Pitching in the stretch seems to mess AJ up. He can't let runners on.
OK, Burnett's stuff is not that electric. He has a straight fastball and a hit-or-miss curve. New narrative.
2 curveballs in a row for strikes. CHEERS!
[106] Well, that was witchy. Charming, maybe not.
[109] One of them suggested his stuff was second only to Verlander's.
[107] Really? I'm at work with mlb.com so no tv. But that makes no sense..
AJ pitched the 2nd nice and easy ---- like he used to pitch against the Yankees.
Seriously, we can't lose to a team with Betemit can we?
That's the ticket!
Bravo, AJ!
Keep it up!
Now come on, fucking sticks!
Wow-zer
OK, well, that was better.
A-Rod has been pretty good in the field. Like the best I've seen him. Odd.
[112] HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
There you go! 2 innings down. Runs please.
Better inning.
I think it's about time for a Hip Hip big fly.
hi team.
i'm home. i heard curtis's catch on espn radio.
The power of the PS Yankees are coming up. Posada and Gardner.
you hear that old starter cranking up?
that rumble?
the "clack" as the transmission slams into gear?
IT'S ANDY FUCKING PETTITTE IN THE NYY SCORE TRUCK!
Good work, Jorgie!
(You see that, Teix?)
Let it hitcha, Stein!
[122] Obviously, Porcello felt it coming too ... COWARD!
That crafty Po. It seemed to hit him off of the glove.
Any way to get on base Jorge.
jorgie on base again!
choose your own adventure...
Base hit!
Yes!
This is IT
DO NOT HAVE GARDNER BUNT.
coltrane!
Bunt, k, k
Noooo! No bunting!
We need a BIG INNING!
So Posada is the mvp if we take this series, no?
Please, Jorgie. Not now...
No bunt please!
[131] Some of my favorite books as a kid. Starting with #1 "The Cave".
careful, jorgie!
Jeez, Jorge.
[135] With 2 slow runners? Have Gardy drag one
A delayed attempt to steal 3rd is not beyond Posada's skills.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!
That was BULLSHIT Brett.
One of our best hitters bunting to get to the guy that's stranded 12. Genius.
[142] yeah, good stuff! i hated reading, but i always dug those books.
Fuck, that was close.
[139] No official MVP in LDS. We'll have to see unofficially
That was high, what BS
fuck off blue.
that might as well been over his head...
Not a strike.
That was a ball, but the earlier pitch called a ball looked pretty good. Credit to the ump for not tossing him.
He got away with a low one, I guess it evens out
Gardner should have bunted.
Dammit, Derek, LET THAT HIT YOU.
I was going to say yesterday that JG should bench ARod in favor of Chavez.
Smoltz is a total fucking fuckwit mutherfucker. Get his ass off the air.
YAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!
Thelarmis, I said in the other thread: of course I saw those things! As if the music weren't enough!
El Cap-itan
That's a beaut! CAPTAIN!
Oh Captain my captain!
Cap'n comes through!
Wow, Jorge's adventures in baserunning nearly cost Martin there.
Great job Jeter! I was wrong!
CAPTAIN!
[149] What? ;)
i fucking LOVE my captain!!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!
Derek Fucking Jeter.
The slide of the year!
OH MY GOD! Posada actually slowed Martin down, nice slide.
Yippie my Captain!
pull AJ? ; )
Flashed back to Henderson, Berra, Meacham and Fisk for a second...
Robertson for 4 and Mo for 3!
[170] I love being wrong ;)
Great slide.
"Posada scores easily" is an oxymoron.
Wow for a second I had a flashback to the 80s when both Bobby Meacham and another Yankee (help me someone) got gunned out at home for 2 outs on 1 throw to Fisk
[179] I honestly thought they were both going to get thrown out Posada was going so slow. He's a mudder I guess.
We NEEED the 3d run
Hit one in the seats, Robinson.
Come on, Robbie, nice and easy, up the middle. Bigass run out there...
[172] i prefer his given middle name, minus the "-on". if you also subtract the "d" in his first name, he basically becomes:
Eric Sanders Jeter.
i think i should get some of his salary and any sloppy seconds (preferably one of the jessica's)
Dale Berra! Thanks Raf!!!!
Cano must plate Jeter.
Damn it.
Just missed.
Where homers go to die.
that's a cavernous park.
Can you believe these guys in the booth? Boo hoo the Yankees scored.
[191] It's egregious.
[181] He loves the slop.
[180] i sent an email to a buddy of mine today and greeted him as "bobby meachem." signed off as "rafael santana." actually, i think it was the other way around, but either way...how often do you see bobby meachem in type twice a day?!
[191] hit moot and listen to espn radio. jon sciambi and chris singleton are good. and fair.
[192] fucking ignominius.
[192] Ignominious.
[197] whoa.
[194] Meachem, Smeachem. I'm an Alvaro Espinoza guy. Luuurve those skinny, bespectacled banjo-hitting short-stops!
[196] [197] Curse you.
At least Alex isn't kicking it all over the infield. Be nice if he got a fucking hit soon.
Arod can still play a little D, huh?
Well I'm still hopeful. Perhaps even cautiously optimistic.
Nice fucking play, Derek!
Bang.
Studly shortstop.
Someone was chugging strike juice between innings.
[203] toooptomistic?
It's fuggin Delmung Yung
[201] Huh? He's one of the best to ever play the game in every aspect.
C'mon blue, that's three strikes right there!
I'll go punch myself in the face now.
AJ missed badly there.
Walking Delmon Young?
Oy.
But I do think almost every one of those pitches was in the strike zone.
That last pitch was a strike against Gardner. Ball for Yung
I do not like this one bit
Nice slide by Martin. He almost overtook Jorgie on the bases there.
please don't let this bat-throwing noob on base and hafta face Miggy. Pleeeeeeeease!
Uh oh. Do not like this.
always smart to walk the batter before miggy.
too much to ask for a clean inning.
get outta this NOW!!!
Alvaro Espinosa?
Pshaw.
Wayne Tolleson!
Nicely done, boys!
Good work, AJ, keep it coming!
Whew
Phew!
[207] Possible, but not likely...
Nice recovery AJ.
Now, bats, PILE THE FUCK ON.
I WANT TO SEE THE SCORE SEMI!
[221] Andre Robertson!
thelarmis, I loved Bobby Meacham. He's so cool looking on his 84 Donruss card. I think he made 2 errors one time and ended up being demoted by the Boss to Double A.
nice!
i missed jeter's play, dammit. and no replay.
[in the kitchen eating, listening on radio. game on moot in den...]
Hate to say this but, [toes crossed] AJ is pitching better than CC.
I still can't believe Deion Sanders played for the Yankees.
[209] For sure. He's handled some tough hops in Detroit. And with all his recent injuries he is moving around better than I though he was capable. Plus I want him to get a hit. Thass all.
OK! 3 down, more runs please.
Yesterday the Yanks had a 2 -0 lead at this point.
OK! 3 down, more runs please.
Yesterday the Yanks had a 2 -0 lead at this point.
Who is this man on the mound?
Hit number one from Alex would be nice here.
fred stanley & brian doyle!
[229] Jesse Jackson, "The point is moot."
[228] i remember the demotion! i prolly have that card at my parents' house. i'll try to remember to look for it when i'm home in a month or two...
[236] Well, I called 2 for him tonight, here would be a good place to start.
more solid blue diamonds on my scoresheet, pls.
[232] Gotcha. I have been enjoying the D, too. We all want that hit.
[237] Jose Oquendo! (whoops, he was a Met..)
er...Steve Balboni!
[237] THE CHICKEN!
[227] andre roberston. i believe he was a tiger, too. didn't something bad happen to him? wait, no - i think i'm thinking of...
aurelio rodriguez.
2 belt high meatballs go by and then that weak shit. BOLLOCKS!
pitch counts after 3:
Pocello - Mussina
Burnett - Reggie
[244] goes well with alaskan amber. have one for me, bro!
Hey, Tex got on base!!!
[238] "The *question* is moot."
Attaboy, Teix!
You'd be screaming if you were a Tigger fan now, huh? "WTF are you doing hitting a 1-for-a-trillion batter???"
boog just erred and said "the yankees have a 3-0 lead." i hope that's a portend of things to come!
[245] God, why does that name ring a very loud bell and yet I can't remember the first thing about him?
All 3 k's were identical. Shite!
if the ump didn't suck so bad, i bet swish wouldn't have been tempted to schwing...
[254] you mean all looking?
Jorgie's taking some funny-looking hacks.
[254][256] ahh, you mean all the same pitch/location?
Every fucking pitch was outside.
F.
outside to Jorge.
Wow. Right down the middle.
Sterling wasn't clear. He said, "breaking ball, strike three". Was is swinging or looking?
[250] Was it? Ooops. Sheesh, I'm getting old.
[255] 3 "sinkers" that all started inside and high and wound up right down the middle and middling high. Blasts.
Google it thelarmis.
Let's keep the 80's karma truck going with Dan Pasqua
[245] [253] IIRC, Andre got into a car accident late one night, was never the same after and wound up working in a factory. One of the NY papers had a "where is he now" profiles.
Different from Brien Taylor.
[263] Sterling wasn't clear.
Wow.
[263] Looking.
This strike zone business is a little irritating, but not as bad as last night. Burnett isn't getting squeezed like CC was, and Yanks are winning!
[267] Didn't Andre Robertson break his neck in that crash?
This is pissing me off. Porcello is getting outside strikes, and AJ can't get a strike call on a strike.
[269] thanks. That's what I figgured. 4 Ks by Porcello, all looking.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Yep.
Well, nobody on base.
Fuck you, asshole. Stop crowing, dickhead.
Crummy umpiring didn't help on that one, not to make excuses but good Lord, I've seen enough.
Short leash...
Gameday had that fastball right down the middle..
[266] google what?
sticking with the dan's, i think of dan gladden then danny heep. that takes me to steve kemp and tommy herr, then ken oberkfell.
or...i could take the dan to petry (or peachtree, in these parts) which takes me to dave steib and john tudor.
Alright, alright.
Solo home run, not a big deal, got get the rest of them, AJ.
[271] That may be what it was. Fuck!
[279] It was. Burnett was down 3-0 in the count, and grooved a fb to get to 3-1
that was a fucking meatball.
ok, sciambi just went into some voice i've never heard him use before. that kinda pisses me off. i used to hear him everyday when he was the braves radio guy. everyone hates the yanks, pisses me off...
Aggggghhhh, fuck me!
Rip.
That was AJ's J best curveball of the night. Called a ball. Next pitch hammered. FUCK ME!
Get him out
again with the voice, boog.
FUCK!
wade still warming? hughes up yet?
Short.
Leash.
No problem. AJ will finish this off without damage.
Time for AJ to take a seat.
Ok, he's done.
Get him out right now.
Wow, generous call
Whew, got a call (strike one to Avila).
Yeah! Pumped out.
Atta boy, AJ. One more!
Wow!
Nice work, AJ (hat tip, ump).
and another call.
whew.
siddown tequila!
aj showing some cojones?
So, Wade is the first inning guy, Hughes is the fourth inning guy?
I hate the tigers unprofessional PA announcer. Oye
Can we win a fucking game in this park please?
Throwing Betemit a fastball is a mistake.
Who is the play-by-play guys. He is extremely annoying.
He says weird things like "Peralta will settle for a double." Settle? "The strike is called." What, it wasn't really a strike?
jesus.
a little help for russell please.
Oh, god.
Ok, AJ, come on...you got this, one more...
Embarrassing.
Wow, don't see that every day.
good goods!
Man, Betemit sucks ass.
Martin channels his inner Posada.
Oh yeah!
A big FU from AJ Bur-fucking-nett!
YES! Eat shit v-mart. Damn.
Good work, AJ.
Hey Score Truck, how about a FUCKING appearance???
AJ has pitched remarkably well to this point - if we lose, its gonna be the fault of the offensive offense again
Runs, now.
Whew. Four down, one run lead. More runs please...
[316] Indeed, I'm getting tired of making excuses for Mssrs. Rodriguez, Teixeira and Swisher.
[315] Seconded
Bad dream. Again the offense coming up small against a chump. It's the 5th inning ferchrist's sake! Hey that's a start.
Squeeeeeeeeze on through there, Russell!
Russ! Now plate this mofo.
Hold your horses, Russel...no Posadaing on the bases, please.
Were they interviewing Buffalo Bill between innings?
here dat rev??
[326] ugh. what a f'n retard. *HEAR that rev?
Nice fucking work, Brett!
Brett The JET!
This is why you don't pinch hit for the Gritner!
Brettski!
PERFECTLY DONE BRETT.
GORGEOUS.
nice!
wow, young looks awful in the outfield. yikes.
Good thing we have Russell and Brett batting #1 and #2.
Now, of course, the bunt - which might in fact be appropriate for once
Bunt?
I'm bunting but what do I know?
Jeter, do it again.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OHH, GODDAMN ITTTT!!!
Right back to the pitcher...
Oh good.
A play.
FUCK
FUCK
FUCK
FUCK
FUCK
I'm so fucking sick of this team and the fucking bunts
Well, no DP I guess.
Are you fucking me kidding me Jeter. You couldn't have rolled down that dirt path back to the pitcher any better. Mother fucker!
And there goes the rally
Why do major league hitters have so much trouble bunting?
stfu, smoltz.
Why? Why does it HAVE to be a bunt?
What the fuck was that?!
Perhaps double steal time?
Damn it.
I feel sick right now.
Can we stop bunting now, please?
FUCK YOU JOE.
FUCK YOU DEREK.
DISGRACEFUL.
Derek Jeter has 3000+ hits in his career. He should NEVER be bunting with men on base.
Well, not as good as a perfect bunt, but NOT BAD, CURTIS!
WHoo-HOOOOOOOOO.. That'll do Grandyman!
GRANDY!!!
plate both of these guys.
both of them.
Curtis!
YES
Gotta get these runners in.
Grandyman - but we really really really need at least one, if not both runs here
Yesssss!!!
Curtis!
We're hitting the baseball!
(Don't sound so excited, announcer-fucks.)
Curtis, saving this team's ASS, one more time.
Yeah, that's more like it...
Put up or fucking shut up time for you know who?
[356] Well, I wouldn't go that far.
the RI Special!
Make 'em pay, Alex!
Yes! IBB!
I know, it's A-Rod, but just you watch. Mark my words. You heard it here first.
Curtis! Walking Curtis. You got that Arod? Time to make them pay.
arod does some damage here or i watch the dbacks for awhile.
The defining moment of the season for A-Rod
Oh, Curtis, you're something...[sorry]
let's go Alex.
show your talent!
I mean walking Cano (oops).
[369] I'm so proud.
No pressure, ARod, but rbi's would be good here
Ok, Rodriguez...
I would love to see Montero coming up here.
Ten feet inside, ump!!
COME ONNNN!
Eight inches inside. Strike one.
brutal call
[372] Walking Cano.
Fuck detroit. This ain't 2006 and Arod ain't batting 8th. Fuck valverde.
zen.
Too long, Alex, too long!
Shorten it up!
A-Rod. . .
Big, high strike zone.
yaaay!
Nice work, Alex, nice work!
I'll take it.
That'll doo
Big ribbie
Thank goodness. On 0-2 I'll take it.
OK, at least one.
4-1
i'll take it. but i REALLY wanna cash in another run!
OK...not awful, Alex. But a hit sometime here might be nice.
[387] A-Rod needs you.
Good job, Al.
Tex is going deep - I swear
SOMEBODY FLY IN KATE GODDAMN HUDSON!
c'mon, Jon Serling, a little less excitement for a bases-loaded sac fly
C'mon MARK
Suitably unselfish.
Now Mark. . .
[403] STerling
Really need to get another hit here and bury Porcello
[401] please be right
[403] he's prolly doing his bit to make up for all the other deflated announcers who shell up anytime we do something well.
Hey, Mark, maybe take this one to left?
God, I'm getting sick of you, Teix.
bull fucking shit.
this ump needs to be shot.
disgusting call.
Bat Tex 9th.
jeez, Mark.
Another one out of the zone. Dick umps...
I think it's time to have all cf camera shots be directly behind the pitcher. Either the umps are crazy, the blue box is defective, or I am going blind.
Good work, Teix. You the man.
[410] Hahahah! No kidding!
Three more outs for AJ. 6, tops. No runs. Go boy-o.
That's a strike? Fine time to bring back the high strike.
Swisher and Teixeira have a really hard time when the ump expands the strike zone.
what's worse, getting only one run there with arod and teix or not even really expecting any more?
Well, we're in the bullpen zone with a 4-1 lead.
DON'T FUCK AROUND WITH AJ, JOE.
[423] Even though I have confidence in him, of course ...
Can Montero play 1B? I'm just thinking out loud here.
This could be very tricky for AJ. Really need a good inning here.
Get ahead, stay ahead, and keep your cool Meat. Channel every ounce of that wild necklace mojo.
Shortleashshortleashshortleashshortleashshortleashshortleashshortleash...
yeah, that wasn't on Tex. i don't want him swingin' at that. it was way high and an obvious ball. stevie wonder's in detroit and knows that's a ball. the umpiring these past 2 nights is disgusting.
426) Exactly.
He hit a good pitch, dammit.
Nuts.
Wow, that looked like a decent pitch from AJ.
Yanks have only stranded 4 baserunners (plus 1 FC and 1 SF). It might not be perfect ball, but damn, we've seen them do a LOT worse this season...
C'mon, bring in Hughes
Leash, short.
Holy Teixeira!
Teixeira still good for something!
GREAT scoop, Tex!
[425] not like that!
Scooooop!!!
C'mon,JETER. WHAT THE FUCK. Nice grab, Teix. HOLY SHIT!
*gasp*
Nicely turned, team!!!
Fuck yes!
(But what was that, Derek? Good work, Teix. You always come through in the field!)
Fucking hell, that was a huge play.
That was a strike to Alex.
How about a fucking reply. Hel-LO!
Huge fucking inning for AJ!
He really can field.
However, teix can still pick it at first.
Wow!!!
Get a motherhumping LOAD of our man AJ!
TERRIFIC, AJ!!!
poor tbs, that made them so sad...
The 3d strike to Tex was lower than other pitches called strikes tonight. I do want him to foul off pitches that he can't do anything useful with. Other teams seem to do this a lot.
More runs, More runs, MORE RUNS.
Where the Score Truck at?
That was huge!
Alex turned away on a belt high fastball 6 inches in and it was a strike. AJ's first ptich to Young was a knee high curve ball that caught half the corner. Ball. ugh.
Was that AJ's best inning of the year?
It's crazy late here, but I feel compelled to watch some more. A big delivery from the Score Truck would let me get a few hours sleep.
[445] yeah, that 1st pitch curve woulda been called a strike for portabello.
[455] And yet somehow, it's still a better strike zone than last night!
[452] Agreed.
[455] yeah, that's what i meant in [457]
bollocks.
68 pitches for AJ! Send him back out there but pull him FIRST sign of trouble.
I got to go to an insanely boring "training" session now for 3 hours..:(
Go o Go TEAM!! I fully expect Mo to close this one out!
[457] Portabello. Good one. I couldn't quite grasp what his name reminded me of.
[458] I know, right?
Nifty play.
Jesus, nice play, asshole.
goddamn motherfucker.
[462] thanks!
Swish gave up there. Hit the bag at full speed, dammit.
Run Swisher, for fuck sake.
Porcello's getting squeezed a bit himself
Portabello / porcini. He's mushroom boy.
Easy there, Martin
[470] Exactly.
Supposedly his name actually means "little pig".
feh.
AJ's biggest test of the year is now.
[462] to me Porcello reminds me of Ponticello, which to a musician means play with the bow close to the bridge (making a scratchy sound).
[470] Now I am getting hungry.
3 outs to go for SoRoMo.
Though, SoRoMo can go mo than that tonite for sho!
Let's see how Girardi handles things this inning.
I like how TBS has to have the r h e in the score. No one but baseball junkies is watching the LDS. Yeesh.
Shitshitshiiiit, here we go
[475] nice, upright bass man! : )
[473] I guess that's right. '-ello' is a diminutive ending.
Cabrera looks an awful lot like Hugo Chavez, doesn't he?
Finish HIm!
look at that range!
I love it when a plan comes together.
Verrrrrry cool.
Man, that was scorched. Yikes.
Smoked, but an out nonetheless
1 down.
With a little bit o luck...sing with me Matty B!
lets go de-fense!
483) He looks like he ate Hugo Chavez.
NIce, Derek.
Good positioning.
2 down.
Very nice, VERY NICE.
captain.
nice to see the grandy catch!
2 out.
[493] *cracking up*
I don't know why that's so funny but it is.
That's okay. Give him another batter.
Start the bullpen.
Now.
Damn Irish! ; )
[482] Like bass cello?
i'm not super comfy w/ logan & soriano.
hamma and mo = aaaaahhhh!!!
BRAVO, AJ!
BRAVO, JOE!!!!
YAAAYAYYYYYY@@@
I think it's a good call. Better a batter too early.
Good job AJ. I apologize for doubting.
Didn't think Joe had it in him. Good move.
Hope its not Proctor coming in
Stand O. Todd Drew is smiling my man! And clapping his fucking ass off.
Good work, Lug Wrench. Hit the showers. Have a Bud. That'll do. Let' go Pen!
I don't like this.
Crazy night. AJ did okay...but if Grandy doesn't make that sweet catch in the first, AJ would have gotten the hook then.
[503] sort of. The biggest string instrument in the orchestra is called Contrabass, Double Bass, Upright Bass, or Bass Viol. All the same instrument. And I play it.
D-Rob and Mo can get 9 outs tonite - easy
[503] Well yes, actually. I think a violincello is a diminutive of a, uh, whatever the opposite of a diminutive is. The "on" in "violone", which was a really big one. Then they shortened it to 'cello'.
Props to AJ. if he sat down at the post-game pressed and told us all where we could stick it, well, he earned it.
Oh my God, what a catch!
FUCKING CURTIS!!!!
Oh my god.
are you kidding??!?
WHAT A FUCKING CATCH!
Right move, bringing in the big guns
GRANDY!!!!!!
WOW!!!!
great catch, Grandy!!!
now - BE OKAY!!!!!
Oh, crap. I hope he's all right.
FUCKING HELL!
Curtis fucking Granderson.
Jesus Christ in heaven.
Holy crap!
CURTIS FUCKING GRANDERSON ladies and gentlemen!
knocked the wind out of him. THAT WAS AMAZING
CURTIS MOTHERFUCKING GRANDERSON, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Praise him with GREAT PRAISE.
[516] it's actually spelled: violoncello
Thanks for following the game when Curtis might be hurt - asswipes
Wow. That was amazing.
[528] Coke to you, sir!
WOW
Can we banish Soriano forever now. PLEEEEEEEASE
and just cause:
viol da gamba
Hope he's OK, might have had the wind knocked out of him. That was balls to the wall there. Great catch.
[514] Cool. Good move to get AJ out. At the very least it's a positive for next year.
Hope I just didn't jink the season.
[516] In older texts you'll even see it written: 'cello.
MVP!!! And I actually thought Girardi was being reasonable, ha...
[510] i was late to the Todd Drew post today. here's what i wrote hours after it ended:
todd WILL be watching tonight. and both AJ and Tex will come through for him. he was real high on us signing Tex.
let's bring this home to the bronx so todd can watch from the comfort of his own seat! i'm sure marsha will appreciate the company : )
Definitely knocked the wind out of him. Full lay out. Didn't land awkwardly. Perfect catch.
Can't believe he caught that. Holy shit
Trying to parse the TBS Yanks sizzle reel as an omen. Cannot.
Grandy for POTG, so far.
[531] That's what I said, dodn't I?
For better or worse, AJ is with us for another season for sure
Cliche time:
What a laying out, body sacrifice, no regard for self, 5 star play by Curtis Granderson. Thanks.
And AJ is still a bitch to watch pitch, but he was good. Thanks.
Now let's get some more runs, and take this back to NY.
[547] Now that the Angels are looking for a new GM, I don't know where he'd go anyway. Reagins seemed to like taking on worthless deals.
[547] They can't move him, he has a NTC
[546] no, you wrote violIncello. with an "i," like a regular violin. but the full name of the cello has an "o" in the middle - violOncello.
don't know why, but that's how it's spelled...
"He's able to utilize that great arm of his."
What an unbelievable play.
Two in one game.
Fuck, talk about clutch. Teix, too, with the glove was clutch.
Defensive is very important.
Very important.
[551] D'oh. But you missed my joke. Dodn't you?
[553] Man, is it ever. Is it ever.
[551] From the French or probably Italian. In French it's "violon." Presumably Italian, too.
[554] i guess i dod!
[554] I thought it was a typo, you goofus.
That's the Coke I remember.
good work jetes.
[552] Because he couldn't as a starter, right? Terrible announcing.
I'd like to see Gardner shorten up at the plate. He tastes just enough power to take him out of what his real game should be. I wish Scooter were here to give him a talk. What a thorn he'd be if he were to take a pesky David Fuckstein approach.
[556] No, a violon and a violin are different. The 'in' is a little one, the 'one' is a big one.
You think Brett could have caught that had Granderson not been going for it?
He was certainly right there in the picture.
wow blue
[558] What's the dif between a goofus and a doofus?
I know I've trained my wife well. I go to take a leak and I hear, "Sure that's a strike douchebag?"
[563] Really? Are you sure?
As so often happens, a great defensive inning ending play is made and then bats third after a one out walk.
[567] :) What a good girl.
[568] Pretty sure. I'll check. It will take me a few moments.
[566] What?
570) I know it.
Damn. I thought that ball was travelling a lot farther than it did off the bat.
Rats. Howz about a 1,2,3!
ok people, NINE outs.
we can do thees!
Betemit belongs nowhere near the basepaths.
This is Sori we like.
[568] yeah, RI's right. no need to look it up.
violin is always spelled with an "i"
violoncello is always spell with an "o"
the other name for kettle drums, however, can be spelled with different combinations of "i's" and "y's", like:
timpani
tympani
[571] violon is the French name for a violin. But I *want* to say that there was a violon in the early music Collegium at my university. I know there was a viol de gamba. Hells yeah!
BASEBALL!
This is fun! Less fun, ESPN Radio missing the first pitch back from break on a regular basis. Let's go Yank-eeees!
great fucking frame, sori!!!
Please Joe, no Ayala tonite
Some of the throws catchers make to nail a runner at first are underated. But they make it looks so easy. Fucking catcher's equiipment, shit everywhere, throwing around the runner. 1,2,3!!!! YES!
Okay, OED.
VIOLIN. Etymology, Italian violino (Portuguese violino , Spanish violin).
VIOLONCELLO. Etymology: Italian violoncello , diminutive of violone.
On the other hand, [580] yeah. So, hm.
AJs line: 5.2, 4H, 1R, 4BB, 3Ks, 1WP. Goddamn, Head Case Burnett! You rose to the occasion!
[585] you forgot French: Violon!
Time to tack on, boys. C'mon Alex!
A hit!
hey, a hit for a-rod!
wahoo, rejoice!
Hey, he broke his cherry.
Let's hope that was A-Rod "breaking the seal."
I hear the truck a coming......it''s coming round the bend......
[587] Waddya mean, I ref'ed right to your mention of that!
[591] You said that out loud in a Paul Sorvino voice, didn't you Alex?
drumz!
Cokey's STILL in there.
2 batters to Jesus!
Cabrera, what a cut up
How about that for some luck!
Teix with a booming hit!
TEIX! Fucking smoked it!
We'll take it!
those are some awesome hits by our big boppers! ; )
i'll take 'em!
Line drive in the box score!
C'MON SWISH!~
Those 2-3 throws on the dropped K are always an adventure. I'm a frequent 1B and it feels like a miracle every time we avoid drilling the guy in the back.
In one of my rare C stints, I was all set to nail one guy. Right up until I stepped on the bat.
[594] sry. I'm a jackash.
Swish to his natural side
D-Rob for the eighth? Or would you leave in Sori since he's cruising?
Geico Runs, Please!
No DP, Swish
[607] Really I was just quoting from the OED. Cut-and-paste.
Damn, what's better than an evening at the Banter with the Yanks winning a post-season game, and a discussion of words for musical instruments???
[609] It has to be Hama in the 8th, Mo in the 9th.
Just one more run, please
alright, swish.
i want at least two. AT LEAST!
Okay. Need 2. AT LEAST!
Montero!
Unless of course the Yankess take a 5 run lead?
THE JESUS, let's go kid.
[612] All that plus an appearance by Jesus?
keep the train moving. ANDY! FIRE UP THE TRUCK!
Praise Jesus!
Chess.
Love to see Montero but sucks to take the bat out of Jorge's hands after the way he's been delivering.
Do I smell a salami sammitch?
[620] It's a religious experience.
Interesting. Never thought I'd see Jorgie pinch-hit for.
It is time for Montero to begin building his legend! WE WANT RUNS!
[612] i can think of something. but i have to go waaaay too far in my memory banks to think of those kinds of nights... : /
OED - oxford? did you look in their music dictionary?
Could Smoltz and Darling be more bummed that the Yankees have a lead?
play the infield in, here?
[614] be greedy. greed is good.
see [615] & [616]
: )
[628] Batches of 'em!
Just my night. I score the game and have to write in "Alburquerque". Bastids!
630) Actually, I think they've been fair tonight.
Become a True Yankee, Jesus! ; )
Let's go, kid!!!
good eye, kid.
GOOD EYE.
VERY GOOD EYE.
Ha!
prays jesus!
Wow! Balk? Wow!
YES. BALK
Wow, it's a miracle!
Jesus broke bread, I mean Alberqurque's hands.
Balk? I'll take it.
[635] I haven't detected any anti-Yankee bias from Darling at all really. He's just low-key and analytical.
I saw it, yelled. Then I said to my wife, "You saw how I saw that, You saw that?"
Wife: "Yeah, it looked like you just laid an egg."
Interesting that Leyland just sat and took that.
[629] I did not, although I have it. I'm too lazy.
uh, that was ball 4, jesus. even with these umps...
how do I notate balk on the scoresheet?
That was ball four. But whatever. Okay, here comes the slider.
BK?
JESUSSSSSS!!!
Fuck.
Yes.
YES!
NICE!
Yes, Jesus - first time I ever said that
Hallelujah.
there's two!!!
still nobody out.
i want more!!!
Jesus!
Everyone's busting their cherry this inning!
Walking on water down to first. First of many playoff rbii's!
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew, 14:31
C'mon...more runs. Getting greedy now. :)
Jesus! Miracles occur.
[653] with laughter!
BK, methinks.
[666] oh that's just freaky that you got that comment #
[666] Hahahahahah ahhahaha ahhaha.
[666] Nice timing!
=)
[670] Yikes, it is.
I'm not even a tiny bit New Testament, but it makes me a little uncomfortable!
okay, i want 2 more!!!
Pour it on!
Make this announcer-fuck cry!
Score Truck. Bring out Valverde who guaranteed no return to THE Stadium.
Hey, Jim Leyland, we own you bullpen aces. You will never be safe with any lead!
Hmmm ... do you pinch hit Jones here?
[655] yup, it's BK
The mark of the beast. Damn New Englanders. : )
Does Montero get an RBI for the balk?
[680] Just Fair, did you have anything to do with Teixeira's hit?
[666] um, you took my spot! : p
I AM SATAN!!!
Song for Al
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re3TVP7JAkA&feature=related
[675] haha
Tomorrow morning I'll go over the importance of punctuation with my 2nd grader:
"See JJ, watch what happens with this sentence when the punctuation is moved"
1. Make this announcer-fuck cry!
2. Make this announcer fuck-cry!
I'd have him squeeze here, fuck it.
[681] great question. he does!
681) No. Be nice, though.
I like this.
Conga line! Gritty, gutty...
687) Wait, maybe I'm wrong.
Granderson > A-Jax.
SCORE TRUCK MOTHERFUCKERS
[682] If I had that kind of power I would have made it a ringing double down the line. Hey this is fun. SCORE TRUCK!
[687] oh wait, no. not for the balk. only the single, not the balk.
well, fuck - now i want DOUBLE DIGITS!!!
Do we bring in D-Rob and Mo to give them some work, or save them for 4 innings in Game 5?
Yes, more hitses
[681] Jesus balked on water!
Oh shit. Did I get comment 666? I can't read comment numbers on my phone.
Keep the solid blue diamonds rollin!
hey jetes - match your regular season grand slams ; )
Hey, I thought Nova was for after Yom Kippur, not before
[666] But maybe you should have quoted Revelations.
[698] comment of the night!
[699] no, unfortunately, neither one of us did. RI had to take away all our fun... : (
jeter did not go. either time. good calls.
[700] Viagra?
[702] we've got sukkot coming up.
[703] by Iron Maiden? yeah, that might be apropos!
Whew thelarmis. I wouldn't care to have done that.
Hm, the official rules don't make it clear. It's 10.4. There's a bunch about how you do get an RBI, and a bunch about what doesn't count, but balks are not mentioned.
Ouch.
[705] no. Blue diamonds made by the blue pen on the scorecard.
(703) I assume you're not referring to Side 2 of Love's Da Capo LP - sorry for the extremely obscure reference
Anyone else hear the vender for the last 2 nights? He's got some bellow. And more entertaining than the talking ass clowns.
Score tow truck with an appearance.
FWIW, Montero did not get a RBI for the balk. According to Gameday, he only has one. Which has to be for the hit.
Come home, Jesus, come home!
[711] I'd much rather spin Side 1 of Forever Changes
[708] there's 1 rbi on montero's ledger in the box score, so i imagine that's from the single and he got nuthin' for the balk. it's not considered an error. shouldn't be an "unearned" run, since it was the pitcher's fault. what if the runner was inherited? who's line does it go on then?
and now, something similar with the wild pitch. certainly not an rbi for curtis...
base hit for double digits!
[712] That's the famous opera singing vendor of Comerica.
[713] Thanks.
Now that I look more carefully at the rules, that makes sense. The list of ways you can get an RBI is supposed to be exhaustive. The list of ways you can't are either exceptions to the first list, or clarifications.
C'mon Robbie.
Zone it.
Stop trying to drive in 6 runs on one pitch.
[666] Hm, the Number of the Beast quoting the Bible? Not sure what to make of that.
Well this ain't 2006 and we'll get even for that Thursday, then we get even for 2010 and (if we get really lucky) we'll get even for 2001 or maybe 1964.
More luck. Fuck yes.
It's a party!
Hell FUcking Yeah Robbie!
DOUBLE DIGITS!!!
two hi-fives, Todd!!!
(715) Or Side 2
Moar runs. Yay!
Save some, boys.
And FWIW I say leave Sori in and rest DRob and Mo.
It's amazing how one inning can so drastically improve my mood.
This has been fun!
[720] and THAT Maiden song is from the album right before Revelations.
[712] on this thread, i think it's spelled:
violonbello
[728] Nope, get the boys their inning apiece, they've got tomorrow off to be sharp for Thursday night.
And Jorge gets to come home for some fan lovin' chants. It would have been a bummer that this could have been his last game ever.
Welp, I got no more spots to write in DET pitchers. As a Yankee fan, that's a good thang.
[713] beat me by an eyelash! [716]
[726] Yeah, can't really lose with that one.
That made a sick crack.
that's a bit more of an authoritative swing!
TBS: one hit each for Tex and Alex = "offense awakens." I mean, it did, but that is not the narrative.
Alex off the schnied. Bootiful.
another 'cocoon' reference!
Al Alburquerque has an ERA of 81.00.
hey AJ:
thanks, man!!!
--thelarmis
gotta go with D-Rob now. Sori is prolly asleep.
Good rip for Teix, though.
Okay! Hamma, or no Hamma??
tex gave it a ride...
[741] and almost as many letters in his name.
"The Yankees offense has come out of their cocoon"
Seriously. They scored 9 runs in game one and then 3 and 4 against the Tigers top starters and that's a cocoon?
Well Teix smashed the ball 2x and was out both times. He topped one to third and Viola? Vioala? Voila? Hit. Ya' just can't predict baseball.
[745] The Bosox should trade Saltalamacchia to the Tigers. What a battery!
[746] I'm glad that Darling added that scoring 4 runs off of Verlander isn't exactly nothing.
Hughies
[746] Waddya want, they're baseball announcers, not entomologists!
it's...Hughes!
[747] VIOLON!
Didn't see that comin.
Phillip. Hmmmm........ Go Hughesy!
745) Dude, send me an e mail with linkage to your record.
Cocoons and violoncellos: a night of etymology and entomology, at the Banter.
I wish Diane were here!
[748] More seamstress jobs in Detroit.
[756] Dude, click on his name. :-)
Frank "101 Strings" Viola
nice job, coltrane martin!
that's a tough but excellent sequence by Russell. Way to bounce on that last pitch after getting nailed in the knee. Impressive.
1B always sets an inside target on that throw. C always takes him across the bag into the runner's path. Never fails.
Phil Hughes--puttin' heads to bed.
Nasty!
Huuuuuuuuuuuughes!
FUCK YEAH.
Mo for the ninth. No doubt about it.
[756] OK!
but yeah, my screen name take you to my site. there are audio snippets at the "directed listening" page, but only full pieces for the piano & symphonic nocturnes. oh, and the last movement of the multiple-percussion suite, which is short.
the "main" pieces are all clips. there's a latin piece you would like ("Thelamba" - a thelarmis samba and a drum feature "Hi-Five" - the solo is on the clip, i believe)
btw, there's some Yankee stuff on the "Photos" page and they make an appearance in the "special thanks"! : )
[764] I'm watching on the radidio.. Bug Bunny cureveball?
[769] Chest high cheese. Blew him away!
hughes looked really really good. that makes me happy.
we'll have Nova on Thursday. CC might be available, too.
i have a monster teaching day/night. this is the first week of the new quarter at the music college. i'll most just about the whole thing. hope to catch the Yanks celebrating when i get home...
[769] on the Mexican whoa-oh radio or Joe Jackson's "On Your Radio"?
snakes pouring it on the brew crew. i was hoping for a sweep...
I really hope Jesus is able to get 400+ ab's for the Big Club next year.
jesus was born for the postseason!
Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding?
Matthew 15:16
Welcome to October Jesus Montero.
[772] What about Elvis' Radio Radio? Or Queens' Radio Gaga?
Oh, man. 666, then 777.
I think Someone is trying to tell me something.
An inning of work for Mo, here?
Gotta love Montero's bat. I hope his glove is as good.
[775] Immaculately.
[782] It isn't. But let's hope it's half as good!
[782] I think that's a tall, tall order.
I'll settle for I hope his glove is good enough.
Hell, I'll settle for I hope the BAT is good enough, regardless of the glove.
Guess not.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnneeeeee or
Bone. We'll see.
Huh, I expected Mo. Interesting. Mo needs work.
bogan for the 9th?
I'd rather Hughes stay in, but I guess this is ok
Booneski.
[780] Lotto Ticket!
I dunno, if a Professional Hitter says the ball hit the bat, I figure it hit the bat.
If Mo has to come in Thursday and ISN'T sharp ...
Does that assclown realize he's still wearing that "go to sleep NY" sign?
And in highlighting him, is TBS attempting irony?
BOONE!
Ballgame. Good work, Boony.
I'll be watching that catch by Granderson for 50 years. If i'm lucky.
GAME 5, BABY!
Thanks for the company everyone.
19 cult of basebaal ~ Oct 4, 2011 8:44 pm
Alright, predictions, Yankees win, Burnett goes 6 and allows no more than 3 and Alex gets at least 2 hits.
Well, *that* worked out pretty well, don't you think?
Well, fuckin' A RIGHT
FUCK YEAH!!!
new lease on life : )
BACK TO THE BRONX!
Good work, boys!
Let's close this deal back in da Bronicks!
Love me some Curtis.
I would honestly vote Granderson for President.
[800] Do it again!
Nice to have a ha ha for a change. AJ may be a head case, but he's our head case.
Nice must,dominating win.
Good night.
Nice to have a ha ha for a change. AJ may be a head case, but he's our head case.
Nice must,dominating win.
Good night.
[806] I think I said something like that here in the middle of the summer. Like, "He could run for Senate", or something.
Ken.etc, I don't know how you do it.
[808/809] it wouldn't be a game thread without a double post from kb!
Good fan, you guys. That felt good, didn't it?
Nighty night.
Im the double doer. Is it a technique or a mistake?
Well... basically CC was way off his game, and Teix and ARod forgot to show up. Amazing that we're 2-2. It looked like another early exit just 2 hours ago.
Hopefully this gets their mojo going for Thursday.
So happy happy happy!!!
All bow down to cult of baseball!!!
Who could have had that confidence but COB?
[816] Cult rocked it.
AJ!!!!!
to me the second most interesting thing tonight, outside of young Allan James, is that a certain third baseman seems to have awoken from his long slumber...
Surely worried about having to go back to the well -
Nova was great, but they see him again,
Pfister (dunno why I do it that way, but I'm sticking with it) was showing great stuff
Temperature check?
Cautiously hopeful?
Thrilled to be going back to New York, that's for damn sure.
Get on the plane, Valverde!
That game was AWESOME!
[814] it's a misnique!
[806] We got someone just like that right now (and i am not referring to his race), and so many have their knives out.
I can't believe that just happened.
I can't believe AJ was that good, minus the first inning scariness.
The umps zone seemed to have issues again tonight, but at least it was balanced. I almost lost my mind when we took a punch out on a clearly high pitch, but then we got the same call later.
AJ! Whuh? How? Really??!!!
Sterling has some kind of homily about this sort of thing, I think...
[817] Can you believe Cult's Clairvoyance???
Now, if I recall correctly, I believe there was more to that prediction, no?
So Cult's Predictions For The Win from here on out!!!!
[824] yes, i lent him some of my "nostra" skills! ; )
okay guess this means I need to score Thursday's game, too.
here's my efforts from tonight (blue pen looks purple on that scanner): http://tinyurl.com/5tuvkum
[825] Lend away, just let COB be right!!!
Pfister really scares me, but man, it feels good to be taking those bastages back to the Stadium.
Now that Stadium crowd better be FEROCIOUS.
I always mention it, but I've never seen a pitcher get shook by a crowd the way we did Andy Ashby back in the day.
If the obscenely rich need seat fillers, let's put the program in place. Heck, how about letting local youths watch somewhere and have them on standby?
They'd get the job done - YS needs to be opponents' hell on Thursday night.
Such a good temperature for CC, btw - too bad he didn't pitch the second game...
I was at the Stadium for Game 1 (BOTH Game 1's!) and I gotta say the crowd was HYPED...especially on Saturday night with Nova on the mound.
Nothing will ever be like the old place, but in 3 years of playoffs there that might have been the loudest the place has been outside of Game 6 vs Philly.
I definitely think the crowd will show up on Thursday, but its up to the Yanks to give them something to get loud about
[828] I *hate* that it's even a consideration - back in the day, before they divided us with the moat - we would sit through ANYTHING. I mean SCREAM through anything.
I told Andy Ashby we were going to kill anyone who even fessed up to ever knowing him.
We were one terrifying slavering bellowing have a look in the face of hell type maw back then -
long ass rambling between the dashes, but I hate that it's even a consideration, but good weather bodes well for an amped up crowd.
Nova needs to control his emotions (he can let pitches ride high at times), because I think things may be at a whole 'nother level on Thursday night.
[826] bah. realized I jacked that up cause Dickerson PR for Swisher, not PH. Therefore Swisher went 1-4 and Dickerson went 0-1.
YEAAAAHHHHHH! Finally back, so happy to see an easy win. Thursday is a lock.
The Granderson catches, amazing! How does he rate so low in all the advanced metrics..is he generally poor but just makes the occasional circus catch?
Well, even tonight, he made 1 fantastic catch ... and 1 very fortunate recovery on a misread.
Mostly, though, I think his overall numbers are affected by Gardner to his left, since Curtis often defers to Gardner on balls hit into the gap that both can reach.
[833] Hmm..but then you're kind of penalized in the metrics for playing next an All-Universe defender like Gardner..anyways, what a catch!
I'm so happy for AJ, he does seem like a goofy, likeable cat..just infuriating to watch pitch most of the time.
