Good move, especially if Branyan can still play a little bit of third base. I don't know Branyan's numbers at Yankee Stadium, but it seems like he's always hit a monstrous home run or two per series at the Stadium.
I always had a soft spot for Branyan and his true outcomes ever since he was the next best thing coming up for the Indians when I was still living in Ohio.
Hey, I was watching the Muppet Show with Jazz Jr last night..got to thinking who each Muppett's equivalent would be on the Yankees..first I came up with was Joe Girardi is Sam the Eagle. Jeter is Kermit of course, the steady captain amid all the chaos. Swisher would have to be Gonzo...or maybe Dr. Teeth? A-Rod..well, obviously Ms. Piggy.
This needs further thought..and for some reason I feel we covered this topic already a few seasons ago..ok, I'm ready for Opening Day now!
[8] Nah, jeter can't be Kermit because he never really gets as excitable as Kermit does. I suppose Kermit's kind of borderline when you think about it. Swish would be Fozzie I think. Joba is Cookie Monster, no doubt. CC is Snuffle-Uphagus... wait, I'll come back with a list >;)
[10] Cervelli is Scooter? "Hey guys!! What you doing?" [11] Beautiful about CC, perfect.
Would Mariano be Ralph the Dog? Always the voice of wisdom? You're right about Kermit too, he does lose is now and then..
I'm spending way too much of my work day thinking about this.
[12] See what I mean? It's a tough call to get the whole team right. I'd be up all night on this. I was thinking Mo would be The Count and Russell Martin would be either Rowlf the Dog or Oscar the Grouch. Texeira would be either The Amazing Mumford or Guy Smiley. AJ would be Big Bird. I'd have to invest time and energy on the rest that I just don't have right now. I was thinking either Cano or Granderson as Roosevelt Franklin, an old character they don't have anymore, or Cano would be Kingston Livingston III, a character I've never seen. Brett the Jet: Forgetful Jones!
[14] Teix is TOTALLY perfect as Guy Smiley, and Granderson as Roosevelt Franklin..that's perfect too! I had forgotten about him.
I don't know Kingston Livingston III though. Is he on the new Sesame Street?
If I remember correctly, Jim Henson left Sesame St to do the Muppets, though they always overlapped a bit.
[15] Yeah, I'm guessing from the wiki that he is. I stopped referencing Sesame Street altogether when Elmo became the de facto leader, so I'm not keen on any new characters. From what I read, they gave up on Roosevelt because he was deemed too stereotypical.
On Gardner: "Why didn't you break for home on that wild pitch that would have won the game in the eleventh?" "Ohhh, I fer-GOT!"
Clearly the Banterites are jacked (!) about Branyan ... they swing right into a Sesame St casting couch session.
He LOOKS done, around Mendoza last year and an ops at .665, but a minor league contract is risk-free.
Still expect us to get a stronger platoon mate for Andruw, though not actually excited about any being discussed. I'd bet that A Rod rotates to DH a fair bit this year.
Also according to the Post, Yanks signed Russell Branyan to a minor league deal:

Didn't he hit one in the upper deck of the new stadium?
I never tried Apple Jacks, but I always liked this cereal box. The new ones are... well, let's not go there...
Alex, not sure, but he did hit one of the longest home runs at the new Stadium. It may have been THE longest. Branyan has Grand Canyon power.
6) Yes, I remember something like that.
Branyan reached the upper deck courtesy of Home Run Javy.
[8] That's a shock.

[9] Nah, A-Rod is The Count. Kate Hudson was Miss Piggy (she never was a "Ms."..or did they change it?).
Edwardo Nuñez as Elmo?

[11] Ixnay, can't do it. Too tough when you've had a long day. You guys are up, I leave it to you...

I love how I can come in here after a long day (I had an intensive job interview today) and find brilliance about Yankee-Muppets.
You guys are the greatest.
