"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Showtime

The Lakers are in town to play the Knicks tonight. They’ll have tired legs after beating the Celtics in overtime last night so the home team has a shot to win this game.

Let’s hope it’s a fun time.

And it's on ESPN so I actually get to watch!

2 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 7:41 pm

Plus Kobe with a little "who the hell is Jeremy Lin" trash talk before the game.

It's on!

3 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:22 pm

Yo, Kobe, remember the name.

4 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:32 pm

Kobe's got five rings, he don't need to remember shit.

Man, the Lakers can't shoot for shit.

5 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:38 pm

His rings aren't helping him tonight. Just another guy.

6 thelarmis   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:49 pm

[4] hey alex. i'm just getting online for the first time today. i'll get a small write-up on the blue note post a bit later tonight. excellent choices!

[5] hi RI!!! : )

7 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:49 pm

5) Wow. Guy only leads the league in scoring. Tough crowd.

8 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:54 pm

Yeah, you're right, the rings helped him get the call there.

9 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:56 pm

Yo, thelarmis! A friend just told me it's balmy in Atlanta (she just got back). Finally getting wintery here.

10 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:57 pm

Time for the Knicks to start hitting some threes. Don't want to keep the Lakers in the game on an off night. God, Ron Artest isn't much anymore, is he?

11 thelarmis   ~  Feb 10, 2012 8:59 pm

[9] it had been downright springy here til the other night. it's gotten a bit wintry the past 2.5 days, or so.

then again, what do i know - i'm always inside a classroom, studio or on a stage! : )

12 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:04 pm

Linsane!

13 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:05 pm

Lin, spinning and winning!

14 RIYank   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:10 pm

This game has long stretches of suck. This is Knicks and Lakers, for godsake.

15 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:13 pm

Lakers playing tired. Great game for the Knicks to win tonight.

16 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:21 pm

What's fun about Lin is the buzz you hear from the Garden each time he touches the ball.

17 thelarmis   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:30 pm

alex - 2 quickies up on the blue note page.

thanks for a great series!!! : )

have a fun game guys and a good weekend!

later...

The old ass Celts played as shitty as the Lakers tonight too.

And CP3 with the game winner down in Philly. That was a fun game.

19 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:44 pm

Artest coming unglued now.

20 Jon DeRosa   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:46 pm

I just assumed I wouldn't be able to see it. Tuned in 2nd half, and Lin just keeps answering the bell. Very impressed.

21 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:48 pm

20) Yeah, he looks legit. They are muscling up on him tonight but it hasn't intimidated him any. A very good sign for when Carmelo and Stat return. Amazing though that they are only 10 points up. The Lakers have been terrible all night. Kobe isn't shooting well. Hell, nobody on the Lakers is shooting well.

What is the cable dispute everyone is mentioning? MSG is not available now?

23 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 9:51 pm

MSG is not available if you have Time Warner. Luckily, I have Cablevision. Jeez, never thought I'd say that.

24 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:00 pm

That's crazy, how can they still be having broadcast disputes at. This point? Cheaper and easier to jut watch online now I would guess.

25 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:02 pm

God Spike Lee is such a little douchebag.

26 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:06 pm

Love Lin's baseline drive where he was leaning over but converted the layup. Nice balance.

27 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:16 pm

Hope Lin comes back soon. Knicks lead is fading...

28 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:18 pm

(27) Has the season got to that point already?
Sigh..

29 Jon DeRosa   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:24 pm

Has anybody ever seen a play like that before? (the one where Kobe flung it off the backboard to himself to set up the Gasol shot)

30 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:25 pm

Lin over Gasol. ONIONS

31 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:28 pm

And then a three! Hey Now.

32 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:37 pm

Knicks making it close, of course, playing a little sloppy here, but they should hold on. Lin, what a game. Save some turnovers, he's played well again. Good for him and the team.

33 Normando   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:39 pm

Last time I enjoyed watching The Knicks this much, Dave DeBeauschiereaux, or how ever you spell his name, was rocking the rock.

34 Normando   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:41 pm

[23] my bad, I think I left out an accent.

35 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:41 pm

Jesus, Kobe's made some impossible shots this half. Fortunately for the Knicks nobody else on the Lakers has done jack.

36 Normando   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:44 pm

[34] by [23] I of course meant [33]. Like the accent, I left out a ten.

37 Jon DeRosa   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:45 pm

I think we're in a place now where if this guy never scores another point, he'll still have a spot in New York sports history.

38 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:47 pm

37) Yup. Nice win. A little sloppy but hell, who cares? No Melo not Amare but now 4 wins in a row? Good stuff.

And now, OKC in Game 2!

39 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 10, 2012 10:57 pm

And tomorrow night should be even better. Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love and the T Wolves!

40 Chyll Will   ~  Feb 11, 2012 12:10 am

Somebody needs to redo Dire Strait's "Walk of Life" for Lin right away. Just putting that out there...

41 Sliced Bread   ~  Feb 11, 2012 7:17 am

ABC News did a great piece on hin last night in their Person of the Week segment - and that was hours before.he took it to the Lakers.

42 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 11, 2012 9:40 am

A friend of mine wrote to me last night:

Here's the best analogy I can come up with for what happened to the Knicks this
week : it's like Herb Williams turned into Hakeem Olajuwon overnight. And he was
also an Eskimo.
