Here’s hoping there’s fun at the fair tonight:
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Andruw Jones RF
Russell Martin DH
Eduardo Nunez LF
Chris Stewart C
Never mind that ERA, Hughesie: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

You should put a picture of Orioles score truck with Hughes pitching. Com'on Hughes, get your shit together.
damn hughes turn again already.
and martin as the dh. i get there is a lefty on the mound but god damn.
this game is gonna be 11 hours long, settle in kids
I'd say the Rotating DH is in full effect. This should be Phelps' start.
[1] There is no Orioles score truck. There is only one.
[4] Yeah, or Andy's.
But I believe, in my heart of hearts, that Hughes will turn it around. And in my heart of hearts, that Fred is Fried.
Aahh Phil, wtf? wtf? wtf? Close to disaster and too many pitches.
Damn, man, look at Curtis!
WOW!
Did you hear that sound?
Could be an all-time Top 10 HRs
Sounds like singleton knew the scouting report better than others.
Via David Pinto:
"Evan Longoria will miss at least six weeks with a hamstring injury."
Yankees will need to make some hay out of this.
Fucking hell, Hughes.
I've seen enough out him.
This is getting fugly.
Glug.
Oh, Rob.
The heart of our lineup is kinda useless....
They're going to talk about Hughes needing to pitch backwards.
Oh, no, he needs to attack with his fastball.
Well, that's all well and good if you can spot it.
Perhaps he does need to pitch backwards.
Couldn't get much worse.
Yay!
A scoreless fourth!
What is pitching backwards?
You mean, Mo could pitch the first inning, and D-Rob the second inning, then they could bring in Boone to walk a couple of lefties, Soriano could get them out of it, and then Hughes would enter with two outs in the fourth and finish off the game?
Hughes looks a little puffy and out of shape. Is this relevant? Does he feel the need to keep up with CC and Pineada in the mass department? He seems to be laboring.
Jesus, that was right over the plate.
[20] Hahahah!
No, you know, like throwing breaking balls in fastball counts.
Red Sox game is fun. The New Hope (Felix Dubront) is struggling about as much as Phil -- actually, worse now. And yesterday Laptop was about the same. And remember, Dubront is getting beat up by the Oakland A's. That is a very, very bad-hitting team. Very.
[24] Ohhhhh.
Has anyone looked into that seriously? I mean, the cost is that you walk more guys, but the benefit is that the pitch is unexpected and thus much harder to hit. And there are secondary benefits that I can think of. Interesting, I'd like to see a Tom Tango study of pitching backwards.
Dubront: 94 pitches, five runs, through four innings. Against the Oakland A's.
Jeter: 2-fer so far.
I'm pretty sure Hughes being largely mediocre, but getting a "quality start" and the Yankees losing is worst case scenario.
Dubront cooked after four. The Red Sox go to their vaunted bullpen. Scott Atchison up.
Good job, Boone. That's what they pay you for.
Unbelievable.
Perfect.
So awesome to have lefty specialists on the staff.
My comment #32 is awaiting moderation! Yeah, it's pretty salty.
A meh start fir Phil, which is an improvement. Now if we only had some offense tonight.
Boone Logan seems to have returned
[27] Ouch.. that is some horrible line-up. 6 starters batting under .250, 3 of them batting .200 or under. Only 2 guys with a .800+ OPS. Stunningly bad.
JFC.
Oh, well done. Ladies and gentlemen, the Lefty Specialist.
A. Hughes could have finished the inning just fine.
B. We have good relief pitchers.
Phil was actually decent. Not that many hard hit balls.... unfortunately, 2 were HRs. Nonetheless, this was a winable game for us.
Oh shit!
And there's the Eduardo Nunez I know and...something
Good ol' Nuney!
Now that's a Nune7.
Now another comment awaiting moderation!
Maybe the thing has a sarcasm-detector. Is sarcasm not allowed?
I wonder what the record is for most positions played with an error?
The NunE7 experiment= failure. Just took a game and half.
Hughes should have been given the chance to get out of this inning with 2 out and 100 pitches
[37] Really, its the worst thing that could happen. We needed Hughes to either be good, or continue to be bad enough that the Yankees would finally, FINALLY give up the ghost. Giving them a "meh" start that they can point to over the next two months of crap is bad news.
I'm going to watch a couple of Jon Stewarts I DVRed. Might watch some Sox too. Later.
[40] Ooh, Nune7 may work better than all the others.
Good work, Alex!
HEY TEIX!!!!!!!!!!! You paying attention??????
This is bad. Teix is killing us.
Also,If I hear one more person use the words "dynamic bat" to describe career .274/.318/.369 minor league hitter Eduardo Nunez when justifying the continued use of a man that can't play any position in the field, I'm gonna lose my mind.
This game is an ugly headache. Nice of the Yankees to set up Matusz for his first win in like 30 starts.
Yankees have scored a grand total on 3 runs against the Orioles so far this year.
If Montero was still on the team, I bet Girardi would find a way to have all 3 catchers in the line-up at the same time.
Well, no, you're forgetting the 17 they scored April 9-11.
Still.
[53] Hahahhaah
It's May 1, but already Texas has a 97.2% chance of making the playoffs. Meanwhile, the L.A. Angels of CJ Pujols have less then a 20% chance.
Jesus, that man can play some outfield.
Wow.
[59] I've been doing some work. Was it Granderson?
I just got home from seeing Adam Warren start vs. the Red Wings. He was not entirely impressive. 5 innings. 6 hits. 1 run. 2 walks. 2 k's. Fastball mostly at 88, 89. Saw one at 91. Cervelli popped up to first and grounded into a double play. The Highlight. My 1st ever foul ball! Granted, I had to climb up 3 empty rows before I had to pick it up. Now I can die happy. I was worried I'd never get one. My friend kept me abreast of Hughes' suckitude. Now to read the comments. Oi!
[60] It sure was. Nothing spectacular, just running down a very deep fly towards the wall, correcting his route, and making the catch.
It's his range. He's got extraordinary range.
And not just the range, itself, but that he always looks in command out there.
