(Wtf is up with Gardner and D-Rob, btw? Anyone hear anything?)
Robertson is going to start his rehab later this week and is "8-9 days away" Girardi said today.
I haven't heard anything about Gardner, but a week ago they said he could be back "at best" in 10 days. Obviously he's not coming back in 2 days, but maybe in the next week or so??
Actually scratch that, Girardi just said Gardner could be back by this weekend.
[3] Nice.
Anyone else catch Venus' transit?
[2] Cheers.
Oooh, Andy tonight! He'll bounce back.
Like to see that, first pitch out.
Oh, damn, I missed Hideki.
DId he get a nice reception from the crowd?
[4] I meant to, but it's been completely overcast here all day and evening. :-(
That counts as a hit with RISP!
Well, there's a hit with RISP, but not exactly the kind you're looking for.
Heh.
[9] That stinks. It was cloudy this morning here, but cleared up this afternoon. Oh well, just hang around for another 105 years.
Bit low if you ask me.
Oh fer...
Jesus.
You have to swing at that, Teix.
Fight it off, at least.
[13] Oh, I intend to. Yeah, maybe low, but good pitch.
Come on, RAUL!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
HahahhahahaHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Werewolf!!!
oh man. And I was all ready to cuss some.
I guess the Rays are scared of werewolves.
Dang, Teix would have picked that throw easily. We wouldn't even have commented on it.
When did Nunez become a Ray?
Two fucking backwards K's.
Yet, we still got two runs, despite our incompetence.
I'll take it.
[22] I know, right?
Ouch, Hideki, .188.
I don't like to see that.
Has Andy thrown a curve yet?
Now would be a good time for it...
Or maybe the cutter will suffice.
[27] Or slider. Same thing. :-)
Yeah, I can't tell the dif between a cutter and a slider.
[29] Yeah, I think Leiter was using the terms interchangeably for Andy.
Yes!
Nicely done, Andy. Nicely done.
Damn. Nasty Andy.
I liked both Hideki and JD, and they were great for us. But Cashman let them go at just the right time.
[32] Is it still cloudy? Transit is still going on.
[34] Yeah, completely overcast, still.
I can certainly see why Shields is so worried about holding Russell close to the bag...
Oh, Derek.
There ya go. I didn't enjoy that AB, but it ended well.
Weeping, you must be in heaven this evening! I mean, the top halves of the innings.
Andy is a golden god.
[38] Uh huh.
I feel smarter by just watching uber-genius Maddon tonight.
Ok, Robbie, this shit has got to stop.
It's June already, enough is enough.
[35] Rats. And now the sun is too low by me.
Coney says the difference between a cutter and a slider is velocity and break.
He says now it's a slider.
[30] [31] So there ya go, slider/cutter/whatever.
Nicely turned, boys.
That's a beaut!
[44] Uh, and grip.
So, they aren't really that similar! But they look similar to me -- I mean, I can't see the grip or the spin...
Four scoreless from Andy.
Uh oh, RISP!
Uh oh, they have us just where they want us now...
Hey, I've got an idea. How about a hit with the bases loaded?
Oh no, bases loaded. Damn.
HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!
Hell fucking YES!
Catharsis.
woo hoo!
Wow.
That was impressive.
All right, Andy, it's all you.
I love me some big game james.
Now that's a hit with RISP!
Hahahahahahah!!!
Another one!
Nice middle infield these guys have.
omg, another awful error.
Atta boy, Andy!
Ladies and gentlemen, Andy Pettitte.
[65] Indeed.
Missed the Venus Transit, but saw the heavenly launch by Russell. And how about that Andy Pettitte? He has not missed a beat, and looks as good as ever. Kind fortune for the Yankees.
Hey, Nick!
Did Russell break the spell?
Getting closer to double digits.
I kinda like Shields, and he is a honorable Yankee Killer. But having his face schmered in Yankee Stadium angst is a very good thing.
Nice!
Lot of pitches, but worth it.
CLAPPING! What a gift he has been!
Why did Andy retire in the first place?
Kay just referred to the "Cadillac scoreboard" which calls to mind the following quote from Jack Lemmon: "Put me on the Cadillac board!"
Name that film.
[73] No fucking kidding.
[74] Glengarry Glen Ross?
Give that man a CI-gar!
Not too shabby. : )
Second prize is a set of steak knives.
Bravo, Andy!
Just beautiful.
Dammit, it's all very well playing David Mamet name-that-movie, but my mlb.tv connection went south. Fuck.
Describe that half inning, please.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH@!!!!
These guys fucking SUCK in the field!
He had plenty of time to make the transfer to his hand but he hotdogged it.
Tampa Bay Nune6
What the hell kind of drugs is the official scorer on to give an error to the second baseman on that play? I am sure it will be changed but C'mon! That's just stupid!
(Man, the Dodgers are the only team in baseball playing .600 ball.)
[82] 3 up 3 down. Forgot the sequence.
I'm reduced to ESPN Gamecast. MLB's whole web site is defective. Fuck. I think I'll just watch the Red Sox.
Bravo, Andy, Bravo!
You the man, Andy. Hot damn! 10 strikeouts!
Clappity Clap Clap.
Good win, Team.
Good, easy night.
Now the Orioles are going to win and stay ahead of us, but what the hell. Those guys aren't going to be hanging around first place in September. Their happy days are ending. So, Yanks, Orioles, Rays, should be all a half game apart.
Andy is AMAZING!
O's shead of the Sox 6-4 after 7.5.
Two official, but really three errors in the bottom of the tenth and the Mets blow a 5-4 lead in Washington. Aie.
