Phil Hughes looks to stop the bleeding this afternoon. Supposed to get thunderstorms.
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Nick Swisher DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Andruw Jones RF
Russell Martin C
Casey McGehee 1B
Ichiro Suzuki LF
Jayson Nix 3B
Ichiro makes his first start in left. Never mind that shit: Here Comes Mongo and Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I would have thought that they would move Swisher to left and leave Ichiro in right. I think Ichiro has the better arm.
I guess Swisher still can't play the field yet.
what a weird lineup that is pure binder handedness at its best.
and why switch ichiro and andruw now?
[1] who knows the rational. the yanks have been playing most of the year with a statue in lf, and swisher's half-assed arm in rf.
I guess they mean to have Swish back in right when he's back. Ichiro is the superior defender but they must have their reasons.
Man, this lineup misses Alex and Tex, huh?
Got to win this one today.
The left fielder has a whole lot more ground to cover. That is the rational behind the speedier Ichiro in LF i believe.
A no doubter from Curtis for the Campers!
[7] Don't get too excited yet, though. Remember last night. :-(
that is GRAND!
swish double knocker
[9] Like a piano, baby.
Andruw has sac!
Thelarmis, if you act quick you can see the game for a little while -- mlb Gameday has an active 'watch live' button.
Nope, the button is gone, sorry.
[11] let's hope for a hammer dulcimer sighting, say, around teh eighth inning!
[12] mine is cul-de
[13] too damn s-l-o-w . . .
Yankee Killer Wilson Betemit.
I could hit that goddamn hanging slider in the gap. C'mon, Phil! Cripes.
[15] I'm just waiting for our first bass-man to return.
jesus.
Oh, come on, "first bass-man" isn't that bad.
[18] and it'll be pretty harmony when paired with the third bass-man.
btw, you got Chai!
[20] HA! hadn't seen your comment yet : )
i did go through a game thread the other night and you had me in stitches (not literally, thankfully. you see, i have a big fusion gig coming up that requires a lot of chops and if i were in stitches, that would be bad and i'd be upset with you for causing it...)
boatzilla had 2 spelling errors, fixed one, and you said something to the effect of: "but you're happy with amyone?" brilliant!
[21] Yeah, the major third! I like the tener of this thread.
But I don't get Chai. Not even a clue.
i remember when casey mcgehee came up with the cubs, 'coz i used to watch a ton of daytime cubbies games on wgn. no field, lotsa power, lotsa blubber. apparently, no more hair. you'll have that...
[23] as in L'chaim, #18.
the tenor of this thread is about to get rained on... gotta hop in the shower!
[22] I wouldn't have asked you. I know you'd be happy with amyone, amytwo, or amythree.
Oh, l'chaim!
Dang, I just wrote a good one for you, but for some reason it's awaiting moderation. (It had three anchor tags, maybe that's why.)
Damn, McGehee. Spikes high sliding into 2nd.
[27] Slow as molasses, too, huh? (At least I think it's 27 -- with my Awaiting Mod my numbering is off now.)
No GIDP, please, Jetes!
this anchor is going away in the water. will return to whistle dixie (clean version) in steady time (bpm = 104)
as adam laroche asked his mom: "who's molasses?"
Yay Jetes! I hope thelarmis stayed around for that.
Later, thelarmis.
2 out rbi for Swisher. Huzzah!
Swish!
I don't want to be too hasty, but as I said yesterday, moaning about the Yankees' current line-up might be unwarranted.
I can't say I'm thrilled at Briton's high pitch count!
And let's make damn sure we get another 2 1/2 innings in. Please.
Oy.
COME ON PHIL, fer crisake.
Attaboy.
Rob takes charge.
I guess it doesn't matter how slow you are if you draw walks like this dude.
Damn, he's good. Adam Jones. What a play.
Gameday says Ichiro has lined out sharply twice. Did he really hit the ball well?
Excellent.
Now one more hit please, Cap, and that's all I'll ask.
First time it was just a long fly to the RF track. Second one, yeah, drilled to deep center, Jones ran it down.
Al, can you moderate my comment around #26 so my numbers line up right again?
Yeah, baby!
I'm loving this season from Jeter, I really am. I think it's my favorite thing about the season.
Oh, Captain, my Captain!
i love my captain!
[39] First ab was just a high fly out to the right field warning track. Second ab he hit farther and higher to deep cf. He just missed 'em both.
Oh, good. I was tired of playing that solo! Welcome back, gentlemen.
Oh fucking hell yes.
Thelarmis, you are good luck! Rob welcomes you back too!
Damn straight, Robinson! This lead may even be Phil proof. May. ; )
Hey look, the score is binary.
And look, Rob wants a Koolpop too -- Curtis must have turned him on to them.
It makes me laugh the they've shown both Curtis and Robinson wolfing down freezy pops in the dugout. Do you need to hit a home run to get one? Whose mom is bringing oranges for the whole team afterwards? Inquiring minds....
cano is grand!
(and i did call that here in my house!!!)
Lord. Nothing's easy.
No problem, Phil, keep attacking.
i'm following sporadically on gameday and got a little confused by e chavez and a jones.
however, 11-1 is not confusing.
Yes, just like that!
Phil > Ivan.
We have a new slowest Yankees. Yikes.
Huuuuuuuuughes.
that's 9 hits given up already.
like the title says: enough is enough!
nice!
game is official and phil's era is now officially below 4.00! (3.99)
Jeter is en feugo!
Another 3-hit game for Jetes. Loving it.
jeter's gonna get to 4,000 hits...
TODAY!!!
[61] : )
Okay, I'm going to listen to John and Suzyn in the car now.
Here's to a needed win...
Good catch, Ichiro!
see ya gang. gotta go to work...
Meredith Marakovits blatantly cheating is the best part of the YES Network Games
Welcome Back Joba!
I feel good for Joba, but I just can't get excited over middle relief.
Joba ain't fooling anybody.
we should try to stretch Jobber out to starter length....
[71] Dan Bard.
Or 70. I still have a comment awaiting moderation. :-(
Well smacked, Molasses.
Hammer Dulcimer!
Now that's some nice music.
One more, D-Rob.
Phew. winning > losing.
Ball game.
About time, boys.
