Just win and keep on winning baby.

2 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:08 pm

Oh great, an URP

3 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:15 pm

OK, now that's much better.

4 garydsimms   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:15 pm

Ok swish!

5 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:17 pm

What the ....?!

Never saw that before.

Girardi's Things to Do List
9/28/12

1) Make sure Granderson got his mandated high colonic
2) Make sure something heavy is dropped on Cano's head
3) Put glue in Nunez's glove
4) Ask Teix which is his bad calf (just to make sure)
5) Tell Swisher there's no way he comes close to a FA contact at $16m AAV
6) Tell Jeter he doesn't think this team has the balls to Win the Division

7 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:22 pm

For a stand in, Swisher is playing the Hell out of First Base.

8 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:22 pm

Friday night fellas. I'm here making and eating dinner with my wife, drinking wine.

That was something I've never seen. For those reading later, watch the highlights, Grandy liner to the pitcher, ball and glove catch.

The Jays have slotted a 1st round pick pitcher, mediocre minor stats, just a look see second start. They are giving the Yankees the game. The hitters have responded and should keep on doing it.

9 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:23 pm

O's up on the Sox 2-1 in the 1st.

10 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:25 pm

[8] Great play!

Just tuned in to hear "..fallacy of the pre-determined outcome.." Ah, good morning Michael Kay :)

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:25 pm

[9] Think the Sox will stick it to the Yankees by laying down for the O's series then trying hard in the final three?

12 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:31 pm

wow, shit sox really suck.

o's 6-1 in the 1st.

we better sweep their sorry asses...

13 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:31 pm

[11] Sox are beaten like a mangey dog. I don't think they will lay down, but I don't think they will play with much motivation.

14 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:32 pm

[11] Didn't see [12] Maybe I was wrong.

15 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:32 pm

[12] Yo thelarmis, will get back to you about that Miles question. Been a busy week here but Sat&Sun off so some jazz time is on the menu.

16 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:33 pm

Sox give up single-walk-single-HR, all with 2 out.

17 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:37 pm

[15] oh, no worries, man. i'm picking my mom up at the airport in just a bit. (rain delays in NYC...) so i'll be busy, anyway...

listening to Bebo Valdes now. he's the KING!!!

18 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:38 pm

i'd love #2 for #2!!!

do it, derek!

19 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:39 pm

i know Mr. OK hates him, but there was just a really nice tribute for Chipper at The Ted.

1st ballot HOF'er right there. no doubt.

20 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:40 pm

i meant #2 as in:

grand slam

NOT

double play!!!

21 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:41 pm

Very suboptimal.

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:47 pm

[19] Me want Larry to go home. Nah, don't hate him but my Mets fan friends REALLY dislike all the tributes they had at Shea.

23 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:48 pm

fuck yunel escobar.

i hate wild pitches. (on our side)

boston pitcher knocked out in the 2nd. jeesh.

24 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:49 pm

Martin with the pick off!

25 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:49 pm

I like me some Russel Martin!

26 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:50 pm

cool!

wha happened? : )

27 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:51 pm

And it cost Toronto a run.

28 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:52 pm

[26] Runner at third was napping off base, Russell threw down and Alex applied the tag. Next hitter got a base hit.

29 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:52 pm

[22] i definitely do not. i really wish he'd play another season or three. he's relatively healthy, hits for average & power, displays patience and is (still) underrated in the field. he has a fine glove, cannon for an arm and is excellent on the charging bare-handed play. so what if he doesn't have great range to his left; that simmons kid can cover a lot of ground at short.

if chipper played another coupla seasons, he would easily reach 3,000 hits & 500 homers.

30 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:53 pm

what's with all the hits, hiro?

[28] sweet. thanks, rbj!

31 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:54 pm

I know you've missed it....
so it's time for:
The OldPoll!

Overall as a Yankee, how would you grade Martin as a Defensive Catcher?

A) A
B) B
C) C
D) D
E) E or
F) Fail

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:54 pm

i also dislike this lawrie character.

get out of this unscathed, hiro.

33 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:54 pm

[22] I kinda never liked Chipper either, even as a Yankee fan. It might have been the "chop" in Atlanta when he was young, his cracker (sorry southerners) looks or whatever. I never considered him as a HOFer, but the breadth of his career warrants it. I begrudgingly have to give him his due.

What's with Kuroda tonight? He's got to settle down. This pitcher for the Jays will not be in the game much longer, and he had to keep this lead.

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:55 pm

jesus.

35 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:58 pm

[33] B+

Kuroda determined to cough up the lead.

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:58 pm

[31] haven't missed it. : )

[33] living here for so long, and essentially his entire career, i've seen his body of work up close. it's not difficult to respect him as a surefire hall of famer. it's not that i'm a big fan of his, it's more that i marvel at his exceptional baseball acumen and talent. he's an unbelievable baseball player.

37 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 6:59 pm

rasmus. another clown. i guess i don't like the blow jays! dave steib was cool. delgado, too. barfield. hell, mookie even played there!!!

there ya go, hiro!

38 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:00 pm

[36] Living in the city you have to pull for a lifer star amongst you. Nothing to explain.

39 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:00 pm

Wow, looks like Curt Schilling is going to escape any real penalty for his game company adventure..OYF & RIYank, is this still in the news up in Olde' New England?

40 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:00 pm

Jeez.... Hiroki gives up 5 hits and 1 BB in 2 innings. BJs should have 2 or 3 runs. He is not looking like a PS #2 right now.

41 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:02 pm

[37] Mookie! I remember when he came to our Little League banquet in Brooklyn in 1987, the kids were BUGGGIN' out. He was super nice and seemed genuinely happy to be there. This was post their WS win so am sure he had some great free partying to get to after meeting the kids :)

42 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:02 pm

[39] Maybe it makes the Sports pages, but I haven't heard much about it.

43 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:03 pm

That pitch was in on Cano's hands.

44 monkeypants   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:04 pm

[40] To be fair, one "hit" was something of an Ibanez special.

Meanwhile. O's. Not. Going. Away.

45 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:04 pm

[35] I meant [31]

46 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:05 pm

don't let this kid pitcher off the hook!

[38] he's not the dick that everyone thinks he is. he was definitely a cocky jock fuck early in his career. he really matured and put together a career that's beyond brilliant.

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:07 pm

[41] MOOKIE!!! mookie is my favorite player ever of all-time!

mookie was my nickname in little league. i wore #1, lead off & played center.

my godfather was the VP of the Muts and i used to get to meet & hang with Mook a bunch. he was the best!!! oh, and not a party guy...

his stepson Preston did pretty well in the majors, for awhile...

48 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:09 pm

[47] Oh, you're right he wasn't part of the Backman/Dykstra/Strawberry party squad on that team. Did you read Jeff Pearlman's "The Bad Guys Won" about that team? Really fun read.

49 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:10 pm

speaking of Toronto, there's a great latin-jazz bass player up there. Roberto Occhipinti (and Alma Records).

50 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:10 pm

trout just hit his 29th homer.

51 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:11 pm

[48] no interest in reading the book, but i have read a bunch of stuff about that (crazy) team...

man, was that AWESOME watching boston crumble and lose! : )

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:15 pm

hiro has thrown more pitches than the other guy...

53 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:16 pm

Why does it feel like the bottom is about to fall out?

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:16 pm

[49] Is the live scene there really good?
[51] Oh, you should. Super interesting to read about how the Mets 80s teams were built and what characters they were. I lent my copy to a Red Sox fan here and he never returned it..of course.

55 thelarmis   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:23 pm

[54] no clue about toronto live scene. i've played there a coupla times, but don't know it intimately.

reading: in my spare time! no, seriously - i don't have ANY time for that sorta thing and i have read a decent amount about how it was built. and my godfather/uncle has talked to me a lot about that stuff. he was there in the early 80's...

56 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:33 pm

That cut the plate in half, waist high.

57 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:34 pm

[35] Thanks for playing [31].
What's up with you other retards?

58 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:43 pm

Jeez... Hiroki looks like shit. We are lucky to be ahead.

59 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:45 pm

Boston scored their 1 run on a bunt single, error, sac bunt and sac fly. That is their only hit so far. O's up 9-1.

Better root for TB and against LA.

60 garydsimms   ~  Sep 28, 2012 7:57 pm

Grandy bunting?

61 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:02 pm

Where did everyone go?
Is it my breath?

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:05 pm

[61] Here! Could it be the poll?

63 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:06 pm

[60] These last two games have been frightfully dull..I got more excited just now being able to fit all my laundry on the balcony.

64 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:08 pm

Woo-Hoo!

65 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:08 pm

[60] Not much happening. Felt for sure this would snowball into a laugher.
Thank you Russel!

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:11 pm

[61] for [60}

67 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:12 pm

Russell Martin has been lying low all year to spring up as a force in the late season and beyond.

68 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:18 pm

Good to knock out both Cecil and Frasor, they've pained the Yankees and fans enough.

69 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:20 pm

Yargh! I wanted more.

70 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:27 pm

Oh, fuck me, here comes the mixing and matching.

71 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:27 pm

Mix'n'match time!

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:34 pm

[69] {70] BP needs work in a low pressure environment? Are we in a rush

73 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:37 pm

Homer Bailey no-hitter.

74 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:38 pm

[71] Few things more mind numbingly boring than constant pitching changes.

One of the top reasons I hate GirardiBall.

75 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:40 pm

[70] I just hate the trips to the mound and cuts to commercials.

76 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:42 pm

Michael Kay just watched a man pick a ball up off the ground and thought he caught it

77 rbj   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:42 pm

[74] [70] should be [71]. Second error, I'm pulling myself. Er, that doesn't sound right.

78 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:46 pm

Boston gets a lead off bunt single, and that's it. O's with a 1 Hitter.

79 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:49 pm

A lot of talk about Miggy and the Triple Crown. Ryan Braun is 15 BA pts away from a NL Triple Crown.

80 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 8:59 pm

Phelps getting squeezed.

81 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:15 pm

Nice insurance run there.

82 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:16 pm

78) Trout with a homer and a triple so far tonight.

83 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:39 pm

2 run homer for Chavez. Hopefully, that sits Soriano down.

84 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:48 pm

Joe Girardi is completely fucking out of control.

85 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:50 pm

Daughter's field athletics day today. Lunch break. Only time for a quick comment.

Soriano is pitching in this game.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK!

86 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:56 pm

He dissed Girardi by not untucking his shirt.

87 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 28, 2012 9:59 pm

[54] Dude, what are you saying?! I have the book, and you know I ain't no Shit Sox fan.

You can have it back any time. As long as you return Fortress Of Solitude.

88 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 28, 2012 10:02 pm

[84] Not to defend Girardi for no reason, but jeez, Soriano hasn't pitched in a week. He needs a little game, mound time. It will not effect him for tomorrow or later.

In the PS, the Yankees would be fortunate for him to pitch everyday; for the save.
