In the what-took-you-so-long? department, Youk to the 15-day DL.
In the meantime, it’s our man Hiroki.

Time to clear-away thoughts of last night’s pounding.
Never mind the pollen: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Cash says it was a mistake from all involved to play him on Saturday because they can't backdate him on the DL. Not the end of the world, but it is rather curious that they are making a big deal out of it.
Yanks should look into acquiring recently DFAed Rockie Chris Nelson ... can play 2B/3B ... has a little pop.
[1] Well, it is the annual sit-an-injured-player-for-a-week-play-then-him-once-then-put-him-on-the-DL gambit. At least we got it out of the way early. The only question is will he play again before being shut down for the season?
[0] I have to admit that I am a fan of the SS-C batting 8-9, over the DH-1B batting 8-9 lineup.
I believe the Girardi quote from the other day was telling when he said something to the effect that the player told us he was fine. And Youkilis has made a big deal out of the fact that the team was being overly cautious. No doubt he insisted on playing and they gave in. Sounds to me like the only mistake was listening to Youkilis.
And Youkilis' mistake was, of course, publicly criticizing the club (whether right or wrong). Guess he played in Boston too long.
Not a good start.
Better.
Way to go, speedy.
Oh, jeez. The old, "You don't want Ichiro to steal because then you might lose Cano's bat" thing.
Michael Kay, deep thinking.
Trapped!
Yep, he trapped it. Looked like he caught it, live.
Jeez.
Well, got the one run.
I don't have the feeling that this is going to be a fun game.
Phew!
This seems like almost a sure bet for a ground-out to the first base side of the infield. (Peña.)
Hm. Or a walk.
I've never seen Kuroda like this.
Well how about that.
Cone is right, Kuroda has not been getting close calls, but that one he got. Big one.
Oh, he was out! But by like two inches, so hard to complain.
out, but very close.
Supergritty.
Kuroda has to get through 6. A few runs now will help.
Castro folded like a convertible there.
[21] I'm thinking five. He's already thrown 67 pitches. Hard to see how he can go three more innings.
Pronk.
Where would we be without him??
[23] You're prolly right, wishful thinking on my part.
Not the most exciting inning, but a needed run. The dropped third strike, no throw steal, single up the middle not really Bomberish.
Well, hey, maybe six!
That's our Hiroki.
We called up CoJo?
Cool.
[28] CoJo??
Hell yes.
Chris Stewart has redeeming features.
[29] Yeah, Corban Joseph.
Not super exciting, but apparently he's been tearing it up in Tampa this Spring.
The Jays are banging Lester around, and maybe spoiling the attempt at the Sox' best April evah.
Huh!
This might be the right call, actually. Interesting. Much as I scorn the IBB... But Hafner >> Boesch.
[31] Ah, thanks.
This Houston team..besides Altuve and Humber I don't think I know any of their players..
Aha!
Good hustle, kid!
Safe!
Correct call!
Yeah, not exactly Bronx Bombing them to death, but I'll definitely take it.
[38] Bronx Nibblers!
[34] Yankee Killa; Pena at 1B. And Rick Ankiel...
[38} !
Kuroda through six!
[23] Wow, you have no idea what you're talking about, do you?
I don't care if the Astros aren't much of a team right now. I'm just lovin Hiroki!
Nunie!
I'll be damned. Nuñez. An extra base, too.
Run Nuney, run!
[43] Hiro-ik, for sure.
[23] Damn, man, are you going to take that from [42]???
Wow, if the Stros don't mount a comeback, six losses for Humber in April! Man.
[48] Hey, 42 always gets a pass, you know that. (Although Donnie Baseball usually gets some slack too, come to think of it.)
Blargh.
Don't hate the player, hate the plays ...
[40] Oh, it's 'That' Pena..
[50] I'm ready to pre-order Mariano's book.
Speaking of which, anyone seen "42"? (I have.)
[54] Hmmm...think I will pass.
[54] Not yet. Don't go to many movies anymore, but that one is an exception.
Kuroda through 7!!
[54] Not yet
Hiroik!
[55] [56] Yeah, I just had to see it.
Honestly, the baseball scenes are really good. I always wanted to see Ebbets Field, and the Polo Grounds! But the screenplay is Disneyesque, a little disappointing.
Oh, and there's a pretty glaring mistake, a baseball mistake. Unless I missed something. Like, pretty nearly any baseball fan watching will go, "Uh, wait, that can't be true..."
Sox threatening, down two, bases loaded, one out, Papi at the plate... He's already homered today.
Papi doubles.
God, his OPS is like a gazillion.
[60] Saw him in Germany this last winter. He and Kobe were hanging.
[59] What was it? No way I could sit that most likely..
[58] It was ... cromulent.
Not great; overly simplified, formulaic, obvious and hackeneyed.
But, all the same, it got dusty a couple of times in the theatre ...
C+/B-
Happy the Yankees are winning, and I can nap and watch baseball at the same time!
[61] Jackie apparently hits a walk-off homer... in an away game.
man, Brutal loss for the Metsies.
Peanut Bama Hammer Time!
[65] To the Marlins? Ya just can't...
[64] Sloppy!
NAILED.
Nailed.
Oh, how sweet.
Edward Encarnacion just slammed his second two-run blast of the game, Jays reclaim the lead.
Crap. Mo time.
Anyone know Coney's email address?
He's brought this up a couple of times and he really needs to read the ESPN article from last year about the way that the Alabama Hammer's long stride "adds" effective mph on his fastball ...
There are numbers behind his hunch, he should reference them.
[65] That's two in a row.
And now this...
Ugh.
Oh, poor Hamma. Dang.
So I guess this means Mo.
A call to Dr. Mo is now required in the 9th.
Mighty white of the Hammer to give Mo a save opportunity ...
Better.
Dave looked good, actually. That shift-beater, and then the one big mistake.
OverBOMB!
[77] Jackie Robinson in the discussion, Robertson from Alabama...mighty white doesn't sound right.
Lyle, Lyle, hits it a mile!
Nunie---No!--wait, okay!
Nuney!
God looks after drunks and fools ...
Ummmmm. Out, I think.
Nope, he was safe!
No run...we want Mo.
Nooooooooooooooooo ... don't dry hump Mo!
Well hells bells. That crazy hustling Nunez made me open my computer.
It feels wrong to want Joba over Mo. Even though that means more runs.
Booo! A four run lead.
Let him pitch! LET HIM PITCH!!!
No Mo.
Or, wait. He's still up.
Sitting.
That's cool. Mariano deserves another day off.
Happy for Nunie.
Peacock dry humped Mo?
Yeah, wouldn't it be cool if this turned out to be Nuñez' breakout day? From here on in he slugs .525.
[94] LaLaLaLa, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!
=(
[93] Say this, give a couple of seconds to think about a play, he's a danger in the field; given a couple of pitches low and away, he's a danger (to his team) at the plate.
But given a couple of ticks when he's on the bases, he's genuinely disruptive on the bases ...
Mo, Mo, Mo!!!
Jays grab an insurance run in the eighth.
Pronk RBI night!
Extree insurance. Now 2 runs have to score for Mo.
Bubble Wrap The Haf, people, Bubble Wrap!
Guess I'll check out. No Mo, nothing to see.
Later, bantererers.
[103] Me too. Night all.
[103][104] SUCKERS!!!
ENTER NIGHT!!!
[103], {104} Ya never know what you could miss when you leave a game early. Mo interuptus Mo redux.
Still keeping tabs, on my iPad!
[107} LOL
Praise be to Mo!
10 saves for Mo!
Thanks be to Mo.
