Yanks-Mets this week. First two are out in Queens.
It’s Phil Hughes which spells hope for Los Mets.
Brett Gardner CF
Jayson Nix SS
Robinson Cano 2B
Vernon Wells LF
David Adams 3B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Lyle Overbay 1B
Chris Stewart C
Phil Hughes SP
Never mind the nonsense:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
OK, uniforms not that bad. I was worried they were going to be something along the lines of the Mud Hens Chewbacca unis:

Here's hoping Phil does not get camoflogged.
No harm.
Phil could have a good day with this ump if he knew where the ball was gong when it left his hand.
[1] Speechless.
Appropriately, I'm following (not watching, because my internet connection isn't good enough) from a train.
I hate Leiter in the booth.
It’s Phil Hughes which spells hope for Los Mets.
Seems like that *should* read, "It's Los Mets, which spells hope for Phil Hughes" ...
Oh the Douda day.
GO, GO GRITNER!!!
Nixed the shutout.
Nice!
Obviously, the boys were just waiting for me to show up!
[edit] Aaaaaaaand, there's a DP ... so, maybe not!
Appropriately, I'm checking in from the studio.
GO YANKS!!!
Why can't Cano be more like Vernon Wells, the all-star?
But...my studio is near the train depot, so it sorta counts!
I've heard that this David Adams gentleman plays the game the right way.
That was a helluva catch. Holy shit!
GRITTY!
Grittner!
Day-um.
Ack. Wish I saw it. Hopefully, it'll be on the highlight reel...
Gotta practice...
[7] Yeah, he seems very..arrogant? Just not very pleasant to listen to.
Singleton & Flaherty would great over the weekend.
[21] Thelarmis! Just picked up a recent Bobby Hutcherson reissue, 'The View From The Inside'. Can't ever get enough of Bobby Hutch!
I like Al. : )
Nerts
Nice, Jazz! Yeah, I got that one and all the Hutch reissues I didn't have. I now have every single Hutch CD on Blue Note, where he's the leader...except one. For some reason, they haven't put Inner Glow on disc. Well, it's part of his Mosaic box set, but there's never been a singular issue of it as a stand alone Blue Note disc. It's frustrating, but I'll still hold out hope...
If ya want, shoot me an email to remind me, and I'll forward you my Hutch BN collection! : ) I have most of his sideman work on the label, too...
Aw crap!
Well, poo, they're jeering BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOghes again.
Ah, there's the homer.
But, it was a solo, so nice job, Philip.
[26] Cool, I'll be in touch. I'm slowly adding to my Hutch collection but way behind you. ibes + electric piano is such a great sound.
Ah, there's that Hughes tater we've been waiting for. Still, 1 run in 7IP is fine.
Lost in all the hoopla, Hughesie is pitching a helluva game.
Oh, for the record, I support our troops, and I have a bumper sticker that verifies the fact.
Welp, the Wright homer was annoying, sort of inevitable, but even still: 1 run over 7 innings is a good night from any starting pitcher. And good job by Phil to retire the side after the Wright home run.
{33} True dat. I'm only saying HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHurns in jest.
Mostly.
Jazz, what do you think about this snappy Burger King commercial (I assume we're the only ones seeing it). It's like a weird, half backed throwback to the early 60s.
Is this the same Wright that was slumping when the game started? Rats!
[35] I'm "woikin'" at the office this morning so only got Gameday on the iPhone. So they heard your complaint about Bo and changed commercials?
Gotta bad feeling about this game not ending well.
[37] No Bo is still on, but they added BK and shaver CMs as well.
Ike, stop bitching, that pitch is right there.
[38] Overbay will win it with a late HR.
Yup, another cheap hit and you can see the Mets swiping this one.
When the hell did the Mets all turn into extras from Gettysburg???
Oh, and if it's this cocksucker I'm going to be sick.
Come on, Dave!
"The month of May the Yankee bullpen has really been outstanding..."
Michael Kay...
JINX
C'mon Hammer, hurt 'em!
[43] Not watching, have they all grown long beards?
Ugh.
Okay, got 'em just where you want 'em, Dave.
Hammer time.
Yup, here it goes, slipping away.
Okay.
One more.
ROBBIE!
Aw crappity crap.
Argh.
DAMN.
He lost confidence in throwing the ball low after all those misses.
Fudge.
This is getting ugly.
Better get Duda, is all I can say...
Fudgie the Whale.
Wow. The wheels are coming off in a hurry.
[48] Beards at least. It's like they're in the hockey second season.
[48] Yes. Most of them have beards.
Camptown ladies sing dis song.
Boone!
Whew.
Looking forward to Overbay batting third this inning. Yankees 2013 edition.
Who's closing for the Mets these days?
The Mets..so funny to think they have two of the most famous championship teams of all time...surrounded by years and years of awful baseball.
Nice AB for Ichiro. I don't think Parnell has thrown a strike yet.
Okay, man aboard.
NO PLAYS PLEASE.
Well, there goes my plan.
Fucking mets.
Muts.
Ohhhhhhh.
That damn bases loaded GIDP, grrrrr.
Oh well, get 'em tomorrow. And good game by Phil.
Recap is up. This entire week could suck ass. Harvey tomorrow--though I love having Hiroki pitch that game, Sox this weekend...
Couldn't watch this game until the eighth. I heard the Yankees had bases loaded with one out and didn't score, that was probably the game. Hughes was good, too bad. Robertson not so good, oh well. Tomorrow will be better, and the Yanks have to win to keep from losing three in a row for the first time this year.
