Once again, it’s our pal Phil Hughes. On a humid summer day. Against a powerful-hitting team. Yeah, so, I know, it doesn’t look good for him. And I’ve been as down on him as anyone but you know what? Screw it.
The man needs some love. And today, he’s getting it from my corner of the Bronx.
Day-off for Rodriguez:
Brett Gardner CF
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Robinson Cano 2B
Alfonso Soriano DH

Never mind the odds:

A day off? Is he tired? Read Tyler in the NYT today. How poetic. The new best player in baseball hits a homer off the greatest closer in history with two strikes and two outs. A-Rod nowhere to be seen after being removed for defensive purposes, like he shouldn't have been removed for offensive purposes, noting the SO in the bottom of the eighth, his third of the night. Thought the comeback was spectacular, both due to the softness of the hit and the fact A-Rod's fillin scored the run. As proud as A-Rod is to be a Yankee, he failed to celebrate the victory on the field and then couldn't be found in the clubhouse. Where did he have dinner and with whom?
Miggy hits a home run off Hughes? Who didn't see that coming.
[2] Seriously, why is Hughes even allowed to throw anything near the plate to Cabrera? I know that pitch wasn't exactly over the plate, but still. Don't even let him have a swing at anything within reach of the plate.
Finally. Don't let Phil face Miggy anymore.
You know, it's a gorgeous day out there today, the fuck am I doing watching this shit?
Lyle!
Joba giving up a long bomb? Some days you can predict baseball.
i'm surprised we kept them from reaching double digits.
it's the little things...
Today at least it's spelled g-a-m-e o-v-e-r.
