Playing Out The String

tumblr_mssqehsVUR1ql5rm1o1_500

The Giants are in town, and while the Yanks aren’t completely out of it, they sure are almost dead, especially the way they’ve played this past week.

Andy announced his retirement again. He will be missed for sure.

Never mind those Giants fans in the stands:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Just. Fucking. Win.

CC looks like he's lost a lot of weight. Wonder what effect, if any, that has had on him?

I like the Giants, this will be fun to watch even if they're both out.

Least it stayed in the park.

Quick, someone distract Timmy with a joint.

Yikes..catchers are baaad MFers. How did he keep standing there?

God, the Diamondbacks are pathetic. What a bunch of losers, how about winning the game if you don't want the other team celebrating? I hate that old school baseball nonsense.

9 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 6:53 pm

Ah yes, pool-gate. If you don't likeit, win the game.

I have never thrown up while driving but today I came close. Will Carroll was on the radio with our annoying local sports personality and Will was asked about Pettitte getting into the Hall of Fame. He said no. Fine. He was then asked about Mussina. Will again said no. Fine. He was then asked about Schilling. Will said, "Well he'll be close because he has the mythology of the bloody sock." For fuck's sake! Really!

Can we have some offense? I'm falling asleep here.

13 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:00 pm

I was just talking about how much of a fat prick scurt schilling is. Fuck him and his ketchup sock. Still, shoulda tried bunting on him...

14 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:08 pm

Large man has been large tonight. Now can we get some runs?

15 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:11 pm

[11][13] Even outside of baseball, Schilling is the worst kind of hypocrite. Screaming against government aid then having his company take millions from the state of Rhode Island.

I'm thinking Sunday is going to be emotional for everyone!

[11] Narrative over numbers. Andy has 3 more rings and at least another season in October, where his winning % is slightly better.

17 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:16 pm

Man, they had Nunez dead to rights.

18 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:17 pm

Ah Rags!

19 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:17 pm

Rags!!

C'mon, Alex!

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:28 pm

Hell yeah! Granny!

22 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:29 pm

Grand salami! Though I kind of wish Lou still held the record.

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:31 pm

[22] Get the feeling Kay agrees with you, he certainly didn't bring the love to celebrate it. Well done A-Rod!

24 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:32 pm

Well, I'll be damned, I was going "pinch hit, PINCH HIT" before Alex came to the plate.

Guess I should stick to second guessing Joe on Joba!

=)

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:35 pm

Kay, you are such a d-bag. You spend an inning defending Andy P then turn around and rip A-Rod. How is anyone not calling him on this on YES??

26 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:36 pm

STFU Leiter, look at A-Rod's stats as a 20-year old and tell me he was a creature of steroids. I can't take anymore, time to shut this off.

27 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:46 pm

Why is Mo warming up in the 8th ... with NOBODY on???

Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME JOEY?

Yesterday, you gave so little shits that you decided to light the game on fire and push it down the stairs by choosing to not only USE Joba, but leave him in to face a critical LHB with a LHP warm in the bullpen, but tonight you act like your fucking pants on fire with one of your best relievers facing only his 2nd batter with a 4 run lead!!!

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH.

28 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:46 pm

[24] It's first guessing Joe on Joba now. Yankees should be up by 30 before he comes in

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:47 pm

Punch him out.

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 20, 2013 8:49 pm

[28] Well, yes, I think Girardi was the only one on the planet who was surprised when Joba's appearance last night turned into a dumpster fire ...

31 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 9:00 pm

Hmmm, Mo.

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2013 9:03 pm

All rise. Praise be to Mo.

33 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2013 9:03 pm

Ahhh, Mo.

34 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 20, 2013 9:05 pm

Praise be to Mo.

[26] Who says A Rod didn't use PEDs when he came up? Steroids were first banned in 1991. Alex started his career in 1994. No way to know, but I'd say he did. He'd do anything to promote himself.

Bob Ryan, quoting some unnamed baseball bigwig, noted on PTI that the Yankees will hang out in the cellar for the next 8 years. Nothing on the farm, as written in the NYT today, and a desire to reduce payroll. No stars left on the field even if Jeter returns, which I say he won't and if he does, there is no place to play hm.

As for Mo, class act, a rarity for the Yankees. I wish I could cheer for him in person on Sunday.
