The daughter has learned to cure fresh salmon with extraordinary spices. A very, very special treat.

(Actually prety easy; involves taking the fresh salmon, coating it in salt, wrapping it up well, and leaving it in the fridge for a couple of days.... so far superior to the dreck you get in the packages, and better than most delis.)
