This season is no doubt disappointing but they did give it the good ol' college try. It is difficult that Mo has to go out in only the 2nd year of his playing days in a non-playoff year.
Given all the injuries too numerous to list, this team defied expectations for a while and kept it interesting. Frustrating, but interesting. We are likely headed into some dark seasons ahead, but this team was playoff caliber for so long that who am I to complain?
It will be interesting to see what Jeter will do next year. My feeling is that he will do a retiring tour too, albeit with a team that is unlikely to be in contention. Jeter might be better served to hang it up now. I know that he wouldn't want to have his last season to be the one he just experienced, but next year might be physically better but the standings are likely to be much worse and Jeter always stated that he is not about personal stats, but team wins.
Maybe? Next year he might be better, but my bet is the team is uglier, older and less successful. But Jeter does deserve a proper sendoff. I am sure Mo didn't want his career to end on the warning track last year despite this year's team missing the playoffs.

Course he wouldn't want it to be like 2013 but I think it'd be worse for him if he walked away now and didn't try.
