Heard on MLB Radio this AM: there have been 18 world series since 1969 which started 1-1. The winner of game 3 has gone on to win the WS in 16 of the 18 years. Kinda makes tonight important. Let's go Card-nals!

Ortiz at first. That'll be an adventure.

Man, I don't think I have it in me to root for the Cardinals and their insufferable fans ...

Good thing I have it in me to root AGAINST the Red Sox and *their* insufferable fans!

Let's NOT GO Red Sox!!!

This game is going to give me an aneurysm.

Cards deserve this drama scoring none with bases loaded and nobody out; and leaving that run at third with no outs in the last inning.

Hard to root for Cards, cuz after all, Ken Boyer made me cry in 1964. But it's ABB.

FUCK!!!

C'mon, Cards!

9 thelarmis   ~  Oct 26, 2013 10:35 pm

Yeah, I was saying before the Cards *had* to score that 5th run.

Let's get it now. And then some...

I hate these Boston Clams. But they might steal this one. Thank god I'm not THAT emotionally involved.

Holy fucking shit. Whaddya know! Eat shit, Boston. lol....

Wow!

13 rbj   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:05 pm

Oh Jeez, spawts tawk radio is gonna have a field day.

14 JeremyM   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:05 pm

Jim Joyce made the call, too. He got that one right after blowing the perfect game a few years back.

15 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:06 pm

YAY! Middlebrooks raised his legs and tripped Craig? Ya think on purpose? hahahahah eat it bean eaters!

16 RIYank   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:07 pm

I have never seen that.
Have any of you ever even seen an obstruction call, ever? Let alone a 'walk off'!

17 JeremyM   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:08 pm

Yeah, did he deliberately try to trip him? Sure looked that way.

The announcer tried to say that was a brilliant play by Saltywhateverhisnameis... Did he miss the terrible throw in between?

18 RIYank   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:08 pm

[15] I don't think it was on purpose. Middlebrooks is kind of dumb, I doubt he would have thought of it.

So, without the obstruction, Craig would have scored, right? I think so. Oh, for sure.
So, correct call.

What a game.

19 JeremyM   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:09 pm

[16] I've seen them, but with the stakes this high? Never.

20 RIYank   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:09 pm

[17] Bad throw, but I wouldn't say 'terrible'. Also, I hate to say it but Little Pony made a really, really good play to cut down Molina.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:10 pm

A World Serious game has never ended on a call like that before as far as I know. Wicked hysterical.

22 RIYank   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:10 pm

Well, that was very satisfying. Glad I stayed up! And yeah, talk radio will go nuts. Especially in Red Sox Nation, excellent!

23 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:12 pm

[16] I've seen an obstruction call, but never a walk-off, and i doubt ever called in the WS. If Craig wasn't tripped he would have scored easily. That must be the right call.

24 JeremyM   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:13 pm

[20] Yes he did, he is very good at cutting down runners at home. I'll give him his due. I think Salty's throw was terrible because he had no play even if it was good, but I'll settle for bad. ;)

25 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:14 pm

[20] Bah! Your average little league 2nd baseman makes that play.

26 RIYank   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:15 pm

[25] Well, anyway, a little league-sized second baseman did make it.

27 thelarmis   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:19 pm

Fuck YEAH!!!

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:21 pm

John Farrell on MLB, he admits that the by the letter of the rule, the call was right, "but a bitter pill to swallow". He also said that the "the throw to third was forced, and costly".

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:25 pm

Tomorrow's question of the day. Ask your raging red sox fan how they'd feel if Alex stuck his legs up to trip up whoever was trying to score from third.
[26] Pony jokes never grow old. Never. : )

30 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:30 pm

[29] Obviously, it would then have been on purpose.

31 thelarmis   ~  Oct 26, 2013 11:41 pm

Fucking Awesome. Absolutely awesome!!!
