Kind of looks like someone from my family. Wonder if a lot of people feel that way.

Fitting that it should rain today...

CBS will be livestreaming their original coverage all weekend, from the first bulletin right through the funeral on Monday. This will pretty much take over my entire weekend.

[1] That's one reason he was called "Uncle Walter"

So hard to get through today; the memory (50 years!) is fresh.

As someone who lived through it, this date never goes by without bringing back awful memories. The fact that it is 50 years really means no more to me than 49 did last year. I guess the sellers of books and TV shows would disagree.

Caroline Kennedy this week took over as US Ambassador to Japan. Lots of Pomp & Circumstance as she went to present her credentials to the Emperor by horse&buggy. A Japanese friend said 'Isn't she wonderful?' 'Err...why do you think that?' 'Well, she's a Kennedy.' The name resonates even over here.
