Whadda Ya Got?

IMG_6329

Let’s face it, apart from Tanaka, who’ll start tomorrow night in Queens, the Yanks starting pitching is outmatched for the rest of this subway serious. And even Tanaka’s gotta lose sometime. Wouldn’t it sum up a losing streak for the Yanks if Tanaka’s first loss in forever came against the Mets?

Right?

On the other hand, I’m excited to see what kind of fight the Yanks have in them. The team is being squeezed by injuries but still have not a terrible lineup.

It’s up to the bats to do the heavy-lifting for a minute.

Brett Gardner LF
Derek Jeter SS
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Mark Teixeira DH
Brian McCann C
Alfonso Soriano RF
Yangervis Solarte 3B
Kelly Johnson 1B
Brian Roberts 2B

That’s a half Good, half-Ass lineup if I’ve ever seen one.

Ah, never mind the gloom and doom:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

[3] What does Nuno got?

Apparently, nothing. Meanwhile Curtis is ever so thrilled to be out of CitiField and back in the big ballyard in the Bronx. Sigh.

Hope he settles down . . . the Yanks' bullpen isn't in any shape to pitch 2/3rds of a game.

That's one back.

6 rbj   ~  May 13, 2014 6:41 pm

McCann can! Two more back.

[6] The offense is alive!

Correction: Injuries and inconsistency. Having several streaky guys in your lineup and the bullpen doesn't help much, either.

Sori on the other hand, is sorry.

[8] 'Tis the nature of the game - the plexiglass principle rules all.

Much better Nuno

Please start more base runners. Way too many DP's.

[12] The Captain, is, alas, a double play making machine at this stage of his career.

14 rbj   ~  May 13, 2014 7:37 pm

Oh fer crying out loud.

17 rbj   ~  May 13, 2014 8:02 pm

But the Yankees sucking more.

This game is unwatchable!

Uhhh... I probably don't wanna know how this game is going. But based off the comments, it's probably safe to say it's time for Cap to consider taking one for the team and give up the two spot, huh?

It's only the fifth?

Night all. Man, the Boss would be having a cow right now.

23 rbj   ~  May 13, 2014 8:24 pm

[21] 11-4 find something else to do. More Where & When?

24 Chyll Will   ~  May 13, 2014 8:32 pm

[23] Oh hell yeah...

25 Shaun P.   ~  May 13, 2014 8:41 pm

[21] Yeah, you definitely don't want to know how this game is going, Chyll.

Unfortunately, the problem is not where the Cap'n hits in the batting order, it is his lack of speed plus his ridiculously high groundball rate (62.1% currently, per FanGraphs). You hit that many balls on the ground, and you don't have the speed to beat the throw to first, you are going to hit into lots of double plays, doesn't matter where you hit.

Perhaps the Yanks may yet make a game of this!
