Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Yangervis Solarte 2B
Alfonso Soriano RF
Scott Sizemore 3B
John Ryan Murphy C
Brendan Ryan SS
Supposed to storm tonight.
Never mind the lightning:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
Umbrella is needed.
Good game in Cleveland WhileUWait. First five Tribesmen got hits.
Per lohud, 8:15 first pitch
Ah nice having Mark back
Me with a hit
Hmmm, how will the Yankees blow this RISP chance?
Hah!
Day-um
C'mon, Pip!
FUCK ... GRRRRRR.
Can I pull a Sori and close my eyes?
Gee who could have predicted that
Jesus, that was staggeringly pathetic.
Soriano needs a shock collar to keep him from swinging at pitches he couldn't hit with a boat oar ...
Not sure why Girardi not giving him a few days off.
Supposedly earlier in the year we were in the negative on shifts. I can't imagine its improved
Yay!
[14] Not sure why Girardi hasn't taken him behind the barn and "told him about the rabbits" ...
[15] Who's tracking shift effect/differential? I've wondered about that.
[17] Was thinking the same.
[18] It's hard to do. You need a really big sample. Huge.
In Cleveland: Rzepczynski about to pitch to Pierzynski.
Fucking spelling nightmare.
Nope. Relieved by Hagadone. Oh well.
Nice to hear that JR is so widely regarded by the ML staff ...
Mmm, Sizemore
Wow, he's pitching around Solarte
Not pitching around Sori
Why do I so fear that 1 run won't be nearly enough ...
[26] It's difficult to pitch around Sori. He just swings anyway.
Crap
Jeez. Not a bad pitch. Oh well.
Oh, right ... that.
Get that run back!
Well, if we can score, I feel good about the chances. Kuroda still looks strong, and we can use the good relief pitchers.
But it's a big 'if'.
Where is the bottom of the strike zone for this ump?
John Sterling just said, speaking of Tampa: "If you're thirteen games under five hundred, just think about it -- you have to play thirteen games over five hundred just to get to five hundred!"
Just in time!
John enjoyed that Tex Message!
Did I just miss a Mark Tesh Tater??
TESH!
LOAF FACED PINCHER!
[38] You deed indid.
Wow, the strike zone is really enormous.
[35] 'Oh Jawwwnnnn, you've fumbled your numbers again. Reminds me of the time Peter Allen and I were chatting over cawfeee and I...'
Hm, was that a shift out?
SHIFT SAYS, "EAT MY SHORTS!"
Looks like Yanks decided to take Kuroda out with only 93 pitches. Good move as he's been fading late in previous starts.
It really is a good move. Why not use the best pitcher on the staff for four outs in a one-run game? Makes perfect sense.
Shocking.
When I watch Betances pitch I feel like a sixteen year old girl at a Beatles concert in 1964.
Sweet.
Ryan will bunt, and I have no objection.
Oh -- and the A's will not walk Gardner, I betcha.
GODDAMMIT MEGAN'S LAW, IT'S A FUCKING SACRIFICE!!!
Interesting. Why not bunt with one strike?
I would love to know what Joe is thinking.
This team makes me want to claw my eyes out.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
[52] Check that, I'd think I'd rather inject bleach into my eyes ...
[47] I sense a game coming on..
'When I watch Betances pitch I feel like I did when bit into a York Peppermint Pattie..'
[53] Vivid imagery
If you cannot hit at all like Mr. Ryan you should be able to bunt even with 2 strikes.
[56] This.
Yeah, I didn't think Brett had much of a shot against Abad.
Christ.
Well, the failure to sac cost nothing, as it turns out.
Not really, Gardner could have bunted.
Sweet Dellin
Shhhhhhh.
Please.
Resume banter after Betances.
Ummmmmm.
Hm.
How about fastballs now, for a few pitches, waddyasay?
Please don't be hurt, please don't be hurt, please don't be hurt ...
I spoke too soon
Oh fuck are you kidding me?
Our freaking bullpen has been just killing me these past few days.
GODDAMIT.
Le sigh.
So, he was great, and then he kind of lost location, right? Especially on the curve. I wonder if his arm got tired, or what.
Maybe tonight we walk off.
My wife is making me miss this game. These comments some things up quite nicely. Ugh.
63% Win Expectancy in the bottom of the eighth tie game, for the home team.
Abad definitely has some control problems of his own.
Wow, walking Ellsbury to lead off an inning means big control problems.
Can Tex. hit left handed?
Oh, man.
And Ells couldn't get a read on him, either.
Maybe Jacoby has him figured out and can steal now. Please?
Eyes. Needle. Bleach.
What in the holy mother of fuck is Jacoby Elsbury doing?
Yep.
Single, please, Young Jervis.
[77] Getting his read and stealing second, muthafucka!
Infield hit please, Ichiro.
Sigh.
Well, it will have to be a walk-off.
As Jack Napier might say, "This team needs an enema ..."
I think they've played pretty well tonight.
RI, did you fortify the coffeemilk tonight? I'm a little worried, let's get through this.
[84] Heh.
Yeah, in fact, I just skipped the coffee milk part and went straight to the fortification.
Hey, nice all around! Good scoop, good throw.
Set up for Ryan to hit a walkoff?
Thats why we like Tex! Yesterday that man would have been on second after the throw.
McCann would make lots of friends with a walkoff...
[88] Shit, I'll give him a little rubdown just for that single.
Ryan would meme...
[88] is that enough to be a good acquaintance?
Make...
Single does help...now Gardner...
It's getting late for me
Argh!
Dammit.
Well, extras.
Nice catch
Oh, man.
Jesus.
The Good Relief Pitchers, I called them.
Horse shit.
Where are the big uglies, to use Cashman's term, that hit homers for the Yanks.
Great, Warren was ahead early in the count to Moss, but at 3-2 middle of the plate. Bullpen not the strength lately.
-[98] Just what I was thinking
So I have to say, I am not fond of this new thing where we give up piles of runs in the late innings. I like the April and May method better.
[102] LOL
Not winning, not fun. This team is tighter than thelarmis' snare.
This team has entered deeply depressing mode.
That guy must be 7 ft tall
That is one quiet Yankee Stadium.
Well I won my softball game tonight and show the show Turn on AMC is pretty good. This game. Bollocks.
[107] Boring, medicore team.
This lineup has more outs than a poor National League club. I'm sure they know it. They just can't admit it this early.
Hate to say it on my favorite blog for my favorite sport, for my favorite team; but because of the NY Hockey Rangers, my sports mindset is not depressed.
A's radio guys just tore into Ellsbury. 'They're paying this guy that much money and he makes that throw at a critical part of the game?' Was it that bad a throw?
[112] he flubbed picking up the ball which resulted in a rushed throw. The flub was the real error.
[111] Go Kings! (so says the late 80's pre-teen Islanders fan). : )
[114] youngsta! I grew up on LI. In the 70s the Islanders seemed to win the cup every year.
[115] The Sabres and Isles were on TV when I was a kid. I liked the Isles for whatever reason even though Buffalo is closer to home. I grew out of the Isles before college and figured I should root for the near home town team. They suck now but the future looks bright. : )
Depressing is definitely the way to describe this. When they're in ruts like this it's hard to imagine how they could ever score a run, let alone three in the bottom of the tenth. Here's the problem, though -- they refuse to admit that they can't score runs. Even though, Girardi said the other day that they have to scrape runs together, he won't do it. Tie score in the bottom of the eighth, Ellsbury on first base with no one out, he has to steal. Has to. Accept the fact that you aren't scoring runs, and send him, especially when the opposing team can't throw anyone out. But instead, Ellsbury sits and waits for Teixeira to strike out, and then the steals.
I think I'll be watching hockey tomorrow night. Go Kings Go!
[104] ...and i tune my snare drum very tight!
